We've been waiting for them all morning.

Yvette/Mateo: [Shivering] Brr!

Mateo: You both got so tall!

Yvette: Yep, that's why we brought some party stuff from la isla to the Bronx!

Yvette: And we haven't even told you the best part yet!

Mateo: Right before midnight we light estrellitas.
Then we count down to the new year.

Yvette: And then, everyone throws a bucket of water out the door!
Alma: Huh? Why?
Mateo: It's our way of saying goodbye to the old year.
Alma: Sounds way way wayyy fun!
Yvette: Oh, it is.
Mateo: That's why New Year's is my favorite holiday!
Papi: Niños, can you start decorating?
Mateo and I are gonna shop for all the food we'll need tomorrow.
Alma: Of course! Junior: Sure! Yvette: Seguro.
Junior: I can't wait for New Year's Eve!
We never get to stay up that late.
Alma: We've never even been awake past 9:15.
How are we gonna make it all the way to midnight?!
Yvette: No se preocupen. I made it last year and the year before, so I'm an expert now.

First, we get a good night's sleep. So when we wake up tomorrow, we're not sleepy.

Junior: I want to learn how to whistle.

Yvette: I want to be able to swim in the deep end of the pool.
Alma: I want to read a hundred books.
