05x38 - Outrageous Fortunes

Post by bunniefuu »

male narrator:
It's a perfect day

as our heroes head toward
Blackthorn City,

where Ash hopes to win
his eighth and final badge

to qualify for
the Johto League.

- Let me see.
It looks like we're close.

- Hey.
- Look. There it is.

- The Pokémon Center.

- Great.

What do you say
we go check it out?

- Pika!
both: Huh?

- Keep it up, Poliwrath!

- Hitmontop,
hang in there!

[crowd shouting]

- Hey, look at that.

- Sounds like lots of fun.

- Togepi.

- You're right.
Come on.

- Hitmontop,
Triple Kick now.

- Hitmontop.
Top-top-top-top-top.

- Dodge it, Poliwrath.

- Poliwrath. Poli.

- Now Poliwrath,
Double Slap.

- Poliwrath. Poliwrath.

- Poliwrath and Hitmontop, huh?

- Well, I'm certain that
Poliwrath will win, hands down.

- Well, that's no surprise.

- We know you'll always take the
side of Water Pokémon, Misty.

- Poliwrath, Submission. Go!

- Poliwrath. Poliwrath.
Poliwrath.

- Hang in there,
Hitmontop.

- Montop!

Hitmontop.

- Oh, no!

- Ha. Sorry, Mason.
- Poliwrath.

- Wow, that was
an amazing move.

- But I thought only Fighting
Pokémon used Submission.

- True, but Poliwrath acquired
Submission Attack

when it evolved
from a Poliwhirl.

- Poliwrath has seven
straight wins.

- Poliwrath rules.

- Come on,
anyone else out there

want to take a shot
at beating my Poliwrath?

- I will.

I'll challenge you.

- Pika, Pika.

[singing]
- Pokémon

- No time to question my moves

I stick to the path
that I choose

Me and my friends
are gonna do it right

You'll never see us
run away from a fight

To be a Master is my dream

All I've got to do is believe

And I believe

I've got a chance to win

I'm on my way to victory

- Pokémon

- I can be a Champion

If I just believe

I'm on a Master Quest

Master Quest

I want the whole world to see

And I believe

I'm gonna be the very best

'Cause all I've got to do

Is believe in me

- Pokémon

- I'm ready when you are.

- Pika, Pika.

- Hold on.
- Huh?

- It should be me
who's battling him.

- You?

- Since the opponent's
a Poliwrath,

it's clear that I should
challenge him.

- What are you
talking about?

Besides, I asked first.

- Ash Ketchum,
haven't you ever heard

of a rule called
"ladies first"?

- All right, you guys,
just calm down.

I've got an idea.

I'll just battle you both.
How's that?

- Well, I guess I could
let Misty go first,

seeing that it'll be over
pretty quick.

- Hey! Are you actually implying
that I'm going to lose?

- Uh, no.

- Togepi.

- Poliwrath and I are anxious
to see what you've got.

- Poli.

- Then watch and learn

from someone who lives
and breathes Water Pokémon.

Okay, Poliwhirl,
let's go!

- Poliwhirl.

- Poliwhirl, Water g*n.

- Poliwhirl.

- Poliwrath,
use Water g*n too.

- Poliwrath.

- Wow, this is
a pretty good match.

- Pika.

- Use Bubble Attack now.

- Poliwhirl.

- Poliwrath, dodge it and use
Double Slap.

- Poliwrath.

Poliwrath, Poliwrath,
Poliwrath.

- Poliwrath, Submission.

- Poliwrath, Poliwrath.

- Poliwhirl.

- Good work.

That makes it
eight in a row.

- Poliwrath.
- Next up.

Looks like it's time for you
to check out my Bayleef.

- Bay.

- Okay, hit me
with your best shot.

- Poliwrath.

- Bayleef, Razor Leaf.
Let's go!

- Bayleef.

- Poliwrath, dodge it.
Use Double Slap.

- Poliwrath.

Poliwrath, Poliwrath,
Poliwrath.

- Are you okay,
Poliwhirl?

- Poliwhirl.
- Oh, great.

I think we should
watch this together.

- Whirl.

- Someday, you'll evolve
into a Poliwrath too.

And now you can see
what that's going to be like.

Someday soon.

- Bay!

- Poliwrath.

- Awesome, Bayleef!

- Don't give in,
Poliwrath.

Hang in there.

- [laughing]

- As usual, there's Pikachu
with the twerp.

- I'm sick of trying
to capture Pikachu.

- You are?

- But that's always been
our thing.

- I know, but now I want
that Poliwrath.

- Oh, boy.

- Poliwrath does have the air
of a brazen brute.

- You know,
I just realized something.

- What? Spill the beans, Jess.

- I've figured out
why our plan fails

every time we try to capture
that yellow annoyance.

We're going about it all wrong.

We insist on capturing Pikachu
by trying to capture Pikachu.

both: Okay.

- Don't you get it?

If we could steal
a stronger Pokémon first

and then go after Pikachu,
we'd finally win.

- Oh.
- Oh.

- Your thoughts?

- That's not bad.

- You're brilliant,
Jessie.

- And so with Poliwrath
in our possession,

that Pikachu will be
a piece of cake to catch.

- Yippee!

- I'm getting tingly
just thinking about it.

- So I say let's go.

both: Yo!

- Bay, Bay.

- Poliwrath, Poliwrath.

- Bayleef. Tackle Attack.

- Double Slap,
Poliwrath.

- This match is a draw.

- What? How come?

- What's the big idea
stopping the match?

- Maybe you need to stop

and take a look
at your Poliwrath.

both: Huh?

- This is the eighth match
in a row you've fought,

and Poliwrath is exhausted.

If you don't quit,
Poliwrath could get really sick.

- You're right.

By the way,
your Bayleef is awesome.

- Thanks.
Poliwrath too.

- Hi, my name's Delaney.

- Hi, I'm Ash.

And this is Brock.

And that's Misty.

- Hello there.
Nice to meet you.

- Hi. Nice to meet you too.

- You must be tired,
Poliwhirl.

Let's get you fixed up.
- Poli.

- I need to give Bayleef
and my other Pokémon a rest too.

Whoa!

- Pika!

- That hurt.

- Ah, the floor's
a little slippery, Ash.

- Chansey. Chansey.

- Oh. I'm okay, Chansey.

Next time I'll watch
where I'm walking.

- All your stuff
went flying, Ash.

- Thanks for helping me, guys.

- I think that's everything.

- Poliwhirl.

- Okay, let's get you
that rest now, Poliwhirl.

- Here, Nurse Joy.

I'll just leave them here
with you.

- And I'll take care
of them all.

- Sorry I overdid it,
Poliwrath.

From now on, I promise I'll pay
more attention to you

next time we battle.

- Greetings,
young traveling stranger.

- Huh? You mean me?

- Of course.

I am but a humble
fortune-teller,

and you have caused
my humble crystal ball

to come alive
with your fabulous future.

- [thinking]
What kind of fortune-teller

would set up shop in a forest?

- Ah, this truly is
your lucky day, young man.

- This lady's famous
for predicting things right.

- Well, talk is cheap,
so let's see a little proof.

- Right.
Do you see these oranges?

She predicted the price of OJ
would soar,

so we jumped
on the orange bandwagon.

- We grew a bumper crop
of these babies.

Now we're rolling in dough.

- So we returned
to say thanks,

because we thought
she should know.

- We made millions
in a minute,

'cause she told us
what to grow.

- Now, now, I can't take
all of the credit

when it was my trusty
crystal ball that told me so.

[laughs]

- On top of all that
she's humble too.

Our gratitude is boundless.

- Please accept the fruits
of our labor

as a token of our sincere
appreciation.

- This has got to be the worst
acting I've ever seen.

You're selling oranges,
not ham.

- I would really have my fortune
told here if I were you.

- Just look at what happened
to us.

- Toodle-oo.
- [snickers]

- Now then, shall we change
your loser life forever?

Hmm, I'm seeing
you possess a Pokémon.

A powerful one,
a Poliwrath.

- How did you know that?

- Yes, your Poliwrath
is a fine specimen of strength.

- What? You can see how strong
Poliwrath is?

- Darling, I can see
what your Poliwrath

had for breakfast
yesterday.

- Awesome.

So please tell me,
what do you see in my future?

- Your future. Let's see.

I see a bright,
happy, and successful future

with riches beyond belief and...

Huh? What's this?

- What?
What do you see in there?

- A dark and angry cloud
hangs over your bright future.

It's your Poliwrath.

It's possessed
with evil and angst.

- But what can I do
about it?

- Not to worry,
my little friend.

My vast powers can remove the
evil that haunts your Poliwrath.

- Yeah? Please do.

- As you wish.

If you would please place
your Poliwrath before me.

- Oh.

- I'll eliminate
every evil spirit

that plagues
your poor Pokémon.

First I place my bad-be-gone
cloth like so.

Now close your eyes
and slowly count to

whilst thinking beautiful
thoughts of your poor Poliwrath.

Okay, begin counting slowly
and loudly.

- Now? Right.

One, two,

three, four,

five, six,

seven, eight,

nine, ten.

- [humming]

- Will this really...

Huh?
- Uh-oh.

- What are you doing
with my Pokéball?

- Ah! Running!

- Huh? What?
You were all in on this.

Thieves!

all: Huh?
- Wasn't that...

- It was Delaney's voice.

- Quick, let's go.
- Yeah.

- Give me back
my Poliwrath, you crooks.

- Delaney!
- What happened?

- Those three guys,
they stole my Poliwrath.

- I'll bet I know
who those three are.

- Prepare for trouble.
I'm predicting the worst.

- And make it double
'cause you heard it here first.

- To protect the world
from devastation.

- To unite all peoples
within our nation.

- To denounce the evils
of truth and love.

- To extend our reach
to the stars above.

- Jessie.
- James.

- Team Rocket blasts off
at the speed of light.

- Surrender now or prepare
to fight, fight, fight.

- Meowth, that's right.

- Wobbuffet!

[together] Team Rocket!
- Pikachu!

- What were you expecting,
some fortune-tellers?

- Hey, I'll tell you
your fortune.

We steal your Pokémon.

- Next reading: : .

- You won't get away
with it.

- Come back here
with my Poliwrath!

- The tarot cards say...

- We will get away.

- So have a nice day.

- They're gone.

- I've got to save
my Poliwrath.

[laughter]

- You won't escape.

- Wait!
- Come back!

- [panting]

- Pika!

all: Whoa!

- Pika!

all: Ah!

- I can still see them.

- There they go,
behind that mountaintop.

- Right.
Come on out, Noctowl.

Whoa!
My Pokéballs are gone!

- Think back, Ash.

- You left them
at the Pokémon Center.

- But we've got to do something
to get Poliwrath.

- Gee, thanks, Ash.

- This way.

- Pika!

- [laughs]

That went better
than expected.

- Yes, it's great that we have
such low expectations.

- Now it's time
to inspect the spoils.

- All right, Poliwrath,
come out.

- Poliwrath. Poliwrath.

- All right!
Part one of the plan complete.

- And part two
is catching Pikachu.

- Now, Poliwrath,
from here on,

you'll refer to me
as your master.

- Poliwrath.

- The nerve!

How dare you lay a Double Slap
on your master?

- Very feisty, aren't you?

- But not very smart.

- Arbok, go now.

-Ta-ma-bok!

- It's time to teach

our slap-happy friend here
some manners.

- Poliwrath.

- Arbok!

- Now, perhaps we've all just
started off on the wrong foot.

Dear, sweet,
strong Poliwrath.

- Poliwrath. Poliwrath.

- Why, you big brute.

- You guys just don't know how
to communicate with the big guy.

Let's be friends.

Say yes.

- Poliwrath.

- Was that a "no"?

- So part one did go
as expected.

- No one, but no one,

double-slaps me
and gets away with it!

- Huh?

- Do you think this
is a Pokémon Center?

- It's small,
but it's the right address.

- Come on.

Nurse Joy, how are the Pokémon
we left with you?

- They're all back
to tip-top shape.

- Thanks.
Could you please send them here?

- No problem.

- Ha! Next time I'll be ready
for Team Rocket.

- Oh, this is terrible!
- Huh?

- What's happening?

- It's awful.

There's this Poliwrath

that challenged an Ursaring
to battle,

and now they're feuding
like crazy.

all: Huh?
- Poliwrath?

- Yeah, and you know,
there's three other folks too.

- Team Rocket.
- Pika.

- Who's that Pokémon?

It's Pinsir.

- [roars]

- [laughs]

Save your bad breath
for someone else.

Now that Poliwrath
has been pacified

with our Mark Three Manner
Minder, you'll be next.

Now, Poliwrath,
show me a Double Slap.

- Poliwrath.

Poliwrath.

- [screams]

- No, that's wrong.
Get on your feet.

- Poliwrath.

- Obedience Submission.

- Poliwrath, Poliwrath,
Poliwrath.

Poliwrath!

- [screams]

- Say, I didn't know you
were mechanically inclined.

- Now we're ready
to go get Pikachu.

- No way.
all: Huh?

- Hold it.
That's my Poliwrath.

- I'm afraid your ownership days
are over, young man.

Right, dear?

- Poliwrath.

Poli...

- Poliwrath.
- Pika?

- There, see? I told you.

Poliwrath is part
of Team Rocket now.

- Poliwrath.

Poli...

- You're using that thing
to control it.

Stop it right now!

- Phanpy, I choose you.

- Phanpy, Phanpy. Phan!

- Obedience Water g*n.

- Poliwrath.

- Don't give in, Phanpy!
Take Down!

- Hold on, Ash.

That's my Poliwrath
you're battling.

- Good.

Now then,
Obedience Double Slap.

- Poliwrath, Poliwrath,
Poliwrath, Poliwrath.

- Oh! Hang in there, Phanpy.

- Leave this to me.

Corsola, I choose you.

- Corsola.

- Now, Corsola.

Aim for that awful machine.

Tackle!

Now use Spike Cannon.

- Corsola!

- Poliwrath!

- What's going on?

- Heh! This is great.

Jessie, I choose youse.

- I'm not a Pokémon!

- Cool.

Obedience Scratch Attack now.

- Now, Tackle.

- Corsola!
- [screams]

- Now, Jessie,
use Obedience Tackle.

- No!

- Hey. Wake up, please.

- Poliwrath.

- [screams]

- How come you get
all the fun?

- Okay, here.

Why don't you give her
a spin?

- Thanks.
Jess, Obedience Flamethrower.

- And how am I supposed
to pull that off?

- How about
Obedience Hyperbeam?

- Sorry, I can't.
- Why?

- Anybody could do
a Hyperbeam.

- Maybe you can! I can't!

- Drat.
Oh, well. Submission.

- When I get ahold of you,
I'll...

[screams]

- Oh, well.
- Uh-oh.

I guess you should never use
a human to do a Pokémon's job.

- From now on, your job
is to watch your back.

- Poliwrath,
Double Slap, now!

- Poliwrath, Poliwrath,
Poliwrath.

- Well, thank you.

- All right, Victreebel.
It's your turn.

- [shrieks]

- This is getting
very old!

- You know, I think
that Manner Minder Mark Three

would do a lot
for that Victreebel, I do, I do.

- Arbok, now go!

- Cha-ka!

- All right, go, Phanpy.

- Phanpy.

- Now it's our turn.

Poliwhirl, let's go.

- Poliwhirl.

- What's that?
- It's wearing my King's Rock.

both: Shazam.

- I think Poliwhirl's
evolving.

- Pika.

- Politoed, Politoed.

- Poliwhirl evolved
into a Politoed.

- Whoa.
- That's pretty weird.

- Politoed, the Frog Pokémon.

Politoed likes to expand
its throat and sing out,

drawing in Poliwag and Poliwhirl
from all around.

- Politoed.

- Friendly little guy.

- Pika.
- And pretty cute too, huh?

- Toge, Toge.

- You know,
Poliwhirl could have evolved

into a Politoed or a Poliwrath.

- Amazing.

I just love it.
- Politoed, Politoed.

- Hate to spoil the moment,
but Politoed's ours.

Go, Arbok.

- Shaaa!

- Phanpy, Take Down.

- Phanpy, Phan.

- Victreebel, get in there.

- [shrieks]

- No, that's the enemy.

Use your Water g*n
and let's show them

what an evolved Poliwhirl's
really made of.

- Victreebel,
Razor Leaf Attack.

- [shrieks]

- Politoed, Double Slap.

- Politoed, Politoed,
Politoed.

- Hey, no fair.

- Great moves, Politoed.

- Politoed, Politoed.

- Uh, good dance moves too.

- Togepi.

- Ash!
all: Huh?

- Phanpy's in trouble.

- Ah! Phanpy!

- Your Politoed, can it use
an attack called Swagger?

- Swagger?

Hey, Politoed.
Swagger Attack now.

- Poli...

- [shrieks]

- Why are they striking
each other?

- Maybe they
got Double Slap envy?

- You showed them
who's the boss.

- Togepi.

- Politoed, Politoed.
Poli?

- [roars]

- Toed!

- Whoa.
That seemed to hit really hard.

- Although a Swagger Attack
confuses its opponents,

it also raises its opponents'
attack power.

Sorry.

- Well, that was
a big help.

- Poliwrath, Double Slap.

- Poliwrath!
Poliwrath. Poliwrath. Poli.

- Politoed, Politoed, Politoed,
Politoed.

- Make yourself useful.

Politoed,
Double Slap Attack now.

- Phanpy, Take Down Attack.

- Phanpy, Phanpy, Phan.

- [screaming]

- Pika!
- Grab that ball!

- Hey, it's my Pokéball.

- Great. All right, Pikachu.
Thunderbolt them. Go!

- Pikachu!

[all scream]

- So much for your

"first catch a Poliwrath
then catch a Pikachu" plan.

- The problem was we first
should have caught a Pokémon

more powerful
than Poliwrath.

- But in order for us
to do that...

- We'd have to catch
an even more powerful Pokémon.

- But first we'd need one
more powerful than that.

- I quit.

all: So for now,

we're blasting off again!

- Phanpy. Phanpy. Phanpy.
- We did it!

- Pikachu!
- Phanpy!

- Poliwrath.

- Poli, Politoed.
Poli, Politoed.

- [singing]
I'm on a Master Quest

- Pokémon

- I'm on a Master Quest

- Pokémon

- Thanks for everything,
you guys.

I owe you for getting back
my Poliwrath.

- We're just glad
we could help you out.

- Now we're heading
to the Blackthorn Gym.

- Great.
Go get that last badge, Ash.

Good luck.

- Thank you.
- Take care of Poliwrath.

male narrator: And so,
as our heroes have once again

helped out someone in need,

with Misty's Poliwhirl
evolving into a Politoed

as the happy result.

Now, as their journey
continues,

they'll have even more
memories to carry with them.

[singing]
- There's no time

To question my moves

I stick to the path
that I choose

Me and my friends
are gonna do it right

To be a Master is my dream
