The rituals associated
with this great tradition

are kept vital and alive
to this day

the sea priestess.

as true heroes
of the sea.

The winner will be decided

to continue the fight.

- The Trainers must now decide
which Pokémon

is best suited for battle.

- Ash has chosen
his Totodile.

Instead of putting a hook
at the end of that fishing pole,

he's using a Lure Ball instead.

What a performer.

- Go, Lure Ball.

- [roars]

- Christopher has chosen
a Kingdra.

- Kingdra?

- Kingdra,
the Dragon Pokémon,

normally rests
on the ocean floor,

but in periods
of high activity,

even a simple yawn has enough
power to create whirlpools.

- Wow.
Sounds pretty strong.

This is gonna
be a great battle.

- Dragon Type right off, huh?

- But Totodile should have a
much easier time getting around

than that Kingdra,
since Totodile is amphibious.

- That's true. Totodile's good
on both land and water.

But who knows what attacks
they'll use.

- Pika! Pikachu!

Pikachu!

Pika, Pika, Pikachu!

- Kingdra versus Totodile.

Begin the match.

- It's anyone's guess
who will be victorious

with those two
battling Pokémon.

- We've got to confuse
Kingdra.

Underwater Dive,
let's go.

- And Totodile starts
with an underwater approach.

- Kingdra, Twister, now.

- [howls]

- Kingdra responds by creating
a gigantic whirlpool.

- Oh!

- It appears that Totodile

has been overpowered
and is completely helpless

inside the swirling water.

- Not good.
- Pika.

- Totodile, be strong!

- Togepi!

- Totodile!

- It appears that Totodile
can't seem to get

into any position
for a counterattack.

- You're okay, Totodile.
Hang in there.

- Very good, Kingdra.
Let's back it off.

- Totodile.

[squawking]

- Water g*n attack!

- Dodge it, Totodile.

All right, you're back.

- I see.
Todotile's okay, huh?

Well, I've got another trick
up my sleeve.

Now. Hydro Pump. Go.

- [howls]

- Kingdra has launched
its most powerful attack:

Hydro Pump.

- What's going on?

- Totodile is dancing on top

of the Hydro Pump stream.

- Great. Let's show them
your Skull Bash.

- Kingdra, Dive down
underwater, now!

- The stage has been changed
to an underwater battle.

- Kingdra,
now SmokeScreen.

- Kingdra has cleverly used a
SmokeScreen attack underwater.

Now Totodile has jumped back
out of the water

and seems a bit confused as
to the whereabouts of Kingdra.

- I've got to figure out where
that Kingdra's gonna come up.

- Aww. These are tough times
for the twerp.

- Would you forget
about that?

We're so close.

- These hot dogs are yummy,
aren't they?

- How can you think of food when
there's a Sea Spirit to steal?

- But it's my job.

- Customer relations
are important.

- You're both pathetic.

- Hey, lady, any day
with the popcorn.

- The action has ground
to a halt

as we wonder who will make
the next move.

to figure out its next move.

The longer Kingdra stays under,

the more nervous
he's gonna get.

- It's yawning.

Looks like Totodile is pretty
bored with the whole thing.

- Well, I guess you're right,
Totodile.

No need to worry.

Yeah!

We're ready now.

Come on out, Kingdra.
Let's show them who's ready.

- It's Kingdra!

- Now. Hydro Pump. Go.

- Totodile, let's go.

- Totodile's just plugged up
Kingdra's Hydro Pump.

- All right.

- Something strange
is happening to Kingdra.

- What's happening?

- Kingdra's blowing up.

- Totodile's bitten
Kingdra's mouth shut,

and all that water
can't escape.

- [howling]

- Yeah!

You can let it go now,
Totodile.

- Unbelievable.

Kingdra's Hydro Pump appears
to have backfired in a big way.

- Aw, Kingdra.

Oh!

- That's that.

- [groans]

- Kingdra is unable to battle.
We have a winner.

The match is awarded
to Totodile.

[crowd cheers]

- Ash now moves on
to the next round.

- All right!

That's awesome.

We did it.

- Pikachu!

- Whew. Well, that one
got a little close,

don't you think, Brock?

- I think Totodile
knew they could win,

and that probably helped Ash
get through the rough spots.

- It helped me
through them too.

- Ladies and gentlemen,
we now move into round seven.

- Oh, I'm exhausted.

- No matter which way we turn,

there's always someone there
screaming at us for a snack.

- At least we turned
all that grub into cash.

- Instead of slaving
all day long for chump change,

we should have stolen
and sold that Sea Spirit

for some serious money.

- There will be no
Sea Spirit sale.

Something as lovely as this
should belong to a woman

of equivalent beauty.

- That makes no sense.

Today we will be witnessing

display their courage

and teamwork on the way
to fulfill their dream

of winning the coveted title
Water Pokémon Alpha Omega.

Introducing our next two
competitors:

Misty versus Harrison,
battling in the ninth match.

- [sighs]

So here we go.

No little girl is gonna
get past this Trainer.

Go, Qwilfish, now.

- Qwilfish.

- A Qwilfish.

- Qwilfish,
the Balloon Pokémon.

The quills covering the entire
body have evolved from scales.

A Qwilfish can cause
its body to swell

in order to sh**t its needles
in all directions.

- Mwah.
Let's go, Corsola.

- Corsola.

- Harrison has chosen
his Qwilfish,

and Misty will battle
with her Corsola.

- Ha!
A Corsola.

An unusual strategy

using a Rock Pokémon
in a Water Pokémon battle,

so I'd best keep
a sharp eye.

- Qwilfish versus Corsola.

Let the battle begin.

- This match'll be over
before breakfast.

Qwilfish, go.

Water g*n attack.

- Ha!
Just what I thought.

Corsola, Mirror Coat.

- Corsola.

- Corsola is blocking
with a Mirror Coat.

- Why didn't I think of that?

- A reflected attack
with twice the power.

- Qwil...

- Qwilfish is a bit shaken
but still in the match.

- Corsola, are you okay?

- Corsola!

- Seems to me that old guy
knows a lot about Corsola.

- What do you mean?

Like how Corsola is both
a Rock and a Water Pokémon?

- Yeah, even though Corsola's
a Water Pokémon,

it could've gotten
into big trouble

with that Water g*n attack
that Qwilfish used.

It's a good thing that Misty
used Mirror Coat defense.

- That does it.

Qwilfish, let's show them
your Pin m*ssile.

- Qwil!

- What now?

- Qwilfish is beginning
to swallow water

at an incredible rate.

This might be the beginning
of a Pin m*ssile attack.

- Look at that.

- In order for Qwilfish to
launch all the pins on its body,

it needs to inhale
as much water as it can,

which causes its body
to expand like that.

The bigger it blows up,

the faster the speed
of its pins.

And now Misty won't be able
to use a Mirror Coat defense

because it's powerless
against Pin m*ssile.

- Come on, Misty.

- Pikachu!

- Qwilfish is continuing
to expand.

How much larger
can it possibly grow?

- Now it's time
to get my Sea Spirit.

- But shouldn't we wait
until our shift is over, Jess?

- No. I want it now.

- Huh?

- What are you doing here?

- Uh, we just thought
the beautiful and talented Maya

might care for a little bit
of caramel corn.

- Wobbu!

- Sorry, but this area
is restricted

to only Whirl Cup officials,

so I'm afraid you'll just
have to move along now.

has finally taken on

as much as it possibly can.

it's time to let them try on

a Spike Cannon for size.

- [screams]

- Corsola appears
to have taken some damage.

Where's Qwilfish?

Ah, it avoided injury
by diving underwater.

- It looks like her opponent's
got the upper hand.

- But sometimes the best
defense move in a Water battle

is not to be using
any defensive moves at all.

- Okay, Corsola.
Hang on.

- Now, Qwilfish, Take Down.

- Qwilfish.

- Qwilfish scores
a Take Down direct hit.

- Oh!
- Pika!

- Is it over for Corsola?

- Now, Corsola, Recover.

- Corsola's using Recover
to get back on track.

- Use Take Down again.

- Qwilfish.

- Corsola.

- Up, Corsola.
- Cor?

- That's right.

Corsola are unable to move

immediately after
using Recover.

- Corsola, Dodge it.

- Qwil...

- That's all she wrote.

- Fish!
- Huh?

- Corsola! Corsola! Corsola!

- That's new.

- It's caught in its horns.

- Qwilfish.

- Talk about a twist of fate.

After that Take Down attempt,

Qwilfish has actually gotten
stuck in Corsola's horns.

Well, then,
Spike Cannon.

- Corsola.

- Huh?

- Qwilfish!

- The power of Corsola's
Spike Cannon

has sent Qwilfish on a trip
not soon to be forgotten.

Qwilfish is unable
to battle.
