After reaching Blue Point Isle

in the Whirl Islands,

our heroes have now set
their sights on Bluefinland,

which will get them
that much closer

to entering the Whirl Cup.

And today, without a single
whirlpool in sight,

at least the waters
seem calm.

- Over there!

Look!
- Toge!

- One, two, three,
four Corsola.

- Pika.
- Where are they going?

- Hmm, by the looks of it,

I'd say they were going
to Pudgy Pidgey Isle.

- Oh, Corsola, Corsola.

Wherefore art thou
swimming off to,

my lovely little Corsola?

I've just got to catch
a Corsola.

Now all I need
is a boat.

Wherefore's a boat?

- Boat won't get you there,
miss.

- It's whirlpool season.

- Uh...
- Pika.

- About the only thing
that could make it

to Pudgy Pidgey Isle
without getting caught

in the whirlpools
are those Corsola.

- Aw, I wish I had one.

- Toge, Toge, Toge!

- If only I had wings.

I could fly
to that island.

My kingdom
for some wings.

[singing]
- Pokémon

- No time to question my moves

I stick to the path
that I choose

Me and my friends
are gonna do it right

You'll never see us
run away from a fight

- Pudgy Pidgey Isle is home
to some very unique Pokémon,

and I'm their caretaker,
so I was on my way over there.

- Unique Pokémon?

- Well, kind of unique,
anyway.

- Do you mean these?

- That just looks like
a regular old Pidgey.

- Yes, yes, it does,
but when you see them,

you'll agree there's
something different.

- We're going
to cross this?

- Well, if you'd rather
take a chance

with those whirlpools...

- Fine. Let's go.

[wood creaking]

Keep walking.

It's for a Corsola.
- Toge, Toge!

[wind gusts]
- Oh!

[all screaming]

[all groaning]

- Well, here we are.

Welcome
to Pudgy Pidgey Isle.

- Pika.

- Come on out, now.

I brought lots of food.

[Pidgey cooing]

[all gasp]

- They're--they're huge.

These are Pidgey?

- Yeah, the whirlpools help
to keep Pudgy Pidgey Isle

safe from any
predatory creatures.

And since the Pidgey
don't have to fly away,

they don't exactly bother
with dieting,

if you know what I mean.

- What are those?

- They're Pidgey.

- Aren't they
rather pudgy?

- Of course.

That's why they call this place
Pudgy Pidgey Isle.

- This is my humble abode.

It's the only house
on the island,

and I'm the only human
to live here.

- [chirps and squawks]

- What's that?
- Pika?

- That's Orville.
- Orville?

- That's my Pidgey's name.

Orville, what's up, buddy?

- [chirps]

- Hey, that Pidgey's different
from the other ones.

It's much smaller,
and it can fly.

- Yeah, Orville was born
here on Pudgy Pidgey Isle...

[laughs]

but for some reason has this
desire to fly really high.

Orville's a Pidgey
with a dream.

A long time ago, Pidgey were
used for delivering messages.

But with the invention
of the telegraph

and then later the telephone,

it turned out that Pidgey were
just being used less and less.

And now we even have
special gizmos like this

for communicating
with each other.

- Hello.

I see you've made it
to Pudgy Pidgey Isle.

Now, just remember,
even if these certain Pidgey

are no longer able to fly,

that doesn't mean
they should be forgotten.

- Hey, yeah, that's right,

which is why
the Pokémon Protection Agency

declared this island right here
a Pidgey reserve.

And that was something
like years ago.

- There's an ongoing debate
in the academic community

as to whether these Pidgey
represent evolution,

de-evolution,
or some mutative strain.

But most scientists
are now of the opinion

that they're just
very fat.

I've got to go, but if you find
any other unique qualities

about these Pokémon,
let me know.

- Hey, looks like
Orville's returned.

- [chirping]

- Orville, are you saying
that that Pidgey is you?

- [chirps]

- You want to be
like that Pidgey

and fly higher than any Pidgey
has ever dared?

That's awesome.

- [chirps]

- My grandfather
painted this picture.

It's from a story
about a real small Pidgey

that flew to the sun

and to the stars
and to the moon.

He used to read that story to me
all the time

when I was a little kid.

- To the sun...

- The stars...

- All the way
to the moon.

- Sometimes I like
to show this picture

to all of the little newborn
Pidgey here,

but most of them
are just more interested

in what they're gonna get
for dinner.

Huh?

- [chirping]

- Orville, do you want to fly?
Is that what you're saying?

Oh.

Wow, that's so great.

You can definitely fly.
I know you can.

Flying is what
you're meant to do.

Look out.
We're coming through.

You can do it,
Orville.

Yeah!

- [chirps]

- Orville!

Are you okay?

- [chirping weakly]

- You flew, buddy.

Just a little, but you really,
really flew.

- [chirps]

- From that day on,

Orville practiced flying
every single day without fail.

One year went by, and Orville
continued to get stronger.

All of the baby Pidgey
that were born at the same time

grew pudgier and pudgier,
but Orville stayed small

and eventually was able to fly
short distances.

Then as Orville
got older...

Let's do it, Orville.

You can really fly now, buddy,
so you don't need to be afraid.

You don't need to worry
about this cliff

or those whirlpools
down there either.

All right, then are you ready
to give it a try?

- [chirps]

- Okay, Orville.
Take off!

Huh?

Orville!

Pull up, buddy.
Pull up.

Come on,
you can do it.

Fly to the sun.

Orville!

Maybe I just pushed you
way too hard.

Orville!

I'm proud of you.

- [chirps]

- Orville's goal
is to fly higher

than any Pokémon
has ever dared to fly.

Orville's truly
one very special Pidgey.

- That's for sure.

- After all that practice,
how high can Orville fly now?

- You know, I'm not really sure
about that.

Orville's pretty small,

so it'd be impossible
to attach any kind

of heavy monitoring device.

- Hey, you could tie a string
on its leg

and, as its flying,
measure the string.

- Yeah, but if you tie on
a string that long,

it would be too hard
to fly.

And I know
that Orville's dream

is to fly as far as the outer
atmospheres of this planet.

Orville wants to go as high
as any creature possibly can go

without using rockets
or airplanes.

- If that Pidgey's really
such a high-flying Pokémon...

- Let's grab opportunity
by the tail feathers.

- Our fame as Pokémon thieves
will soar.

- Hmm.

So Orville wants to fly
to the outer atmospheres

of this planet, huh?

I wonder what sort of world
you could find up there.

[door clicks]
all: Huh?

- Probably a world
of trouble.

- And make it double.

[whimpering]

- Quit it.
You'll blow our cover.

- Oh, I forgot.

Excuse us, but we overheard
your conversation.

- So this Pidgey of yours...
Orville, is it?

- Wants to be the highest flying
Pidgey in the world, right?

- Yeah, who are you?

- We're just two friendly
neighborhood meteorologists.

- Meteorologists?
- Correct. And you're right.

You could never measure
the majestic heights

Orville flies
from the ground.

- Thus...
- Observe.

We present
a meteorological balloon.

- And then when Orville flies
higher than any other Pokémon...

- We could prove it with
the technologically advanced

instruments
in our balloon.

You three twerps--uh, kids
can come along if you'd like.

It's good to have
witnesses.

- You mean
we could come too?

- More, the merrier.

- Are you sure about that?

- If the twerps come,
they'll bring Pikachu with them,

so not only
do we snatch Orville.

We'll get a two-for-one.

- That's great.

- Orville,
are you ready for this?

- [chirps]
- Good.

The winds over Pudgy Pidgey Isle
are best in the morning,

so we'll leave tomorrow
at dawn.

[footsteps tapping]

- It's okay, pal.

Meowth is here
to help you.

- [chirps]

- Once upon a time, Orville,
I was just like you.

I yearned.

I yearned to rise
above other Meowths.

Nothing was ever gonna stand
in my way to learn to talk

human talk.

You see where I'm going
with this?

- [chirps]

- I understand what it is
you're going through, pal,

and I want to help youse,

'cause nobody was there
to help me.

So I'm gonna be flying
alongside of you

as far as this here balloon
is able to take me.

And with this mini-micro
walkie-talkie,

I'll still be able to stay
incommunicado with you.

This is too important
to blow.

Pokémon need to hear this.

You will be a hero.

When they see
what we're capable of,

all Pokémon big and small

will make their own dreams
come true.

- [chirps]

- For the Pokémon.

- [chirps]

- Who's that Pokémon?

- The winds are feeling
just right.

Orville, you ready
to give it a go?

- [chirps]
- All right.

Takeoff's in ten seconds.

- In five.

- Three.

- Two.
- One.

- Blastoff.

- Wow, that's one fast Pidgey.

- Pika.

- Fire the booster rockets.

[all screaming]

[Pidgey cooing]

- Altitude: , meters.

- Orville,
can you hear me, pal?

How are you feeling?
Over.

- [chirping]

- What's that?

Everything's swell
and going according to plan?

Just what I wanted to hear.

Huh?

- What are those things?

- They're Spearow.

- Looks like
they're chasing it.

- Don't you worry
about that.

No Spearow will be able
to catch up to Orville.

[Spearow squawking]

- We're at , .

- It isn't safe for humans
to go any higher than this

without using oxygen masks.

- Oxygen mask on.

- We're okay with this on,
right?

- Toge, Toge!

- Orville,
how is everything going?

- [chirping]

- That's great news.

I'm so proud of you.

[loud screech]

Huh?

- What was that?
- Fearow.

Altitudes this high
are Fearow territory.

- [squawking]
- Attention, Fearow.

This is restricted
airspace.

I said scram,
you dirty bird.

This is bad.

- [squawks]

- Okay, Pikachu.

Go.

- Pi!

- [squawks]

- That was great, Pikachu.

- Pika.

- Uh-oh.

- Hey, something's up
with this balloon.

- Prepare for trouble
in high altitude.

- Make it double.
I'm in a mood.

- Save it.
We've heard it before.

- Team Rocket,
what are you doing up here?

- Well, if you must know,
we want the Pidgey.

- And Pikachu becomes
our special bonus.

- [coughing]

- Pikachu, are you okay?

[coughing]

What's going on?

- There's not enough oxygen.

We've gone too high now
for most Pokémon.

- Pikachu, we can share
my mask.

- Pika. Pika.

- Good idea.
Togepi can share mine.

- This is probably not the time
to talk about stealing.

Meowth, are you okay?

- I've got plenty
of O up here.

- What?

Don't tell me now
we're out of fuel.

- We've gone as high
as the balloon can go.

- But Orville's
still flying.

- Yeah, that's one gutsy
little Pidgey,

but I am starting to get
a little bit worried.

- It's starting to get
a little nippy.

Orville, ain't you cold?

- [chirps]

- You're not feeling anything,
not even hot or cold?

This is really bad.

Its entire body
has gone numb.

- That's enough, Orville.
Come back.

You don't need to prove anything
to anyone.

- Didn't you hear
what he said?

- [chirping]

- You're saying that I had
this hard of a struggle too

and that I didn't
give up?

That's true.

I struggled and worked hard
to become like a human.

- [chirping]

- Pushing yourself this hard
makes you happy?

You want this.
I hear you.

I can understand
how you're feeling.

I know.

That's just how it was
for me too.

- [chirps]

- Right now, you must be
the happiest Pidgey ever.

Orville, keep flying
as high as you can.

Do it for us all.

- [chirping]

- It's telling me
all about our planet

and what it looks like.

"I've flown so far,

"my wings can almost
touch the stars.

I can see the moon
before me."

How you feeling?

- [chirping slowly]

- "I've never been happier.

"I feel so close
to the sun right now.

"It's just how I dreamed
it would be.

Everything is so beautiful
up here."

right into our balloon.

[all shout]

[groans]

- Is it okay?

Give me your mask.

Come on, buddy, you'll be okay.
Meowth's here.

- Orville.

- Pikachu, Thundershock.

- Pikachu!

- Huh?

- [chirps]

- Ash, it worked.
- All right!

- Pikachu.

- Orville!

- [chirps loudly]

- You're okay, little buddy.

[all screaming]

[Pidgey cooing]

- Look, it's the pudgy Pidgey.

[all yelling]

[all grunt]

[all groaning]

- We made it.
- Toge, Toge!

- And Orville's
gonna be fine too.

- [chirps]

- Another happy ending
for them.

- Unless...
- No more.

all:
Huh?

- James, how are we--

- It seems there was
some fuel left after all.

- Talk about luck.

- Wobbuffet!

all: Looks like Team Rocket's
blasting off again.

- Wobbuffet!

- But I thought the Pidgey
on this island couldn't fly.

- Looks like Orville
was able to show them

that Pidgey are Pokémon
that are supposed to fly.

[Pidgey cooing excitedly]

- I guess watching Orville
made them remember

that Pidgey do have wings
after all,

and it forced them to think
about who they truly are.

I think we've witnessed
a miracle.

male narrator: Now that it looks
like the Pidgey of Pudgy

will finally be spreading
their wings,

Ash and friends
take flight themselves

and head once again
for Bluefinland.

Their journey
to the Whirl Cup continues.
