FARMING LIFE IN ANOTHER WORLD 2
THE STORY SO FAR
A large number of migrants
arrived at The Great Tree Village.
There were the
towering Minotaurs,
the Centaurs, half
human and half horse,
and the Nyunyu
Daphne, the tree spirits.
To take in over
we decided to summon each
race’s representative for a meeting.
My apologies for not having
your homes ready in time.
To get everyone settled
as soon as possible,
I’d appreciate your help.
You don’t have to be so formal.
Not in the least.
I am but a mere speck of
dust in the corner of a room.
Speck of dust?
Anyway, try to
loosen up a little…
A cue card?
I’ll permit it this time.
MAKE IT SOUND MORE POMPOUS
I shall pardon you!
Raise your head,
Gruwald Raby Coll.
I expect great things
from you going forward!
IMPRESSIVE ACTING, MAYOR!
I am deeply honored!
Uh, thanks.
Anyway, since we’ll
all be living together,
let’s try not to be too formal.
I’ve assigned a support
representative to each race.
Naff is in charge of the Minotaurs,
and Rashashi of the Centaurs.
I’ll do my best.
And the one assigned to
the Nyunyu Daphne's is…
I’m Mamu.
BEASTFOLK GIRL MAMU
BEASTFOLK GIRL MAMU
BEASTFOLK GIRL MAMU
I’ll be in your care.
BEASTFOLK GIRL MAMU
Glad to have you.
Yes!
I’ll do my very best.
Mamu moved here from Howling
Village alongside Sena’s group.
Mamu can handle it!
Sena recommended her,
and since she wanted
to take on a proper job,
I decided to give
her the chance.
Now, as for everyone’s
living arrangements…
The village we built was for humans,
so we’ll shelve that for the time being.
To make things easier for
the Minotaurs and Centaurs,
we’re going to build
villages for each one.
Instead of grouping
them together,
I thought each race would
manage better on its own.
We immediately began
linking roads and canals
to the site Ria and the others had found.
PLANNED ROUTE POTENTIAL SITE 2 / POTENTIAL SITE 3
PLANNED ROUTE POTENTIAL
SITE 2 / POTENTIAL SITE 3
It’s a pretty long distance,
so I’d like your help
clearing the forest.
Yes.
- Roger that.
All right, hyah!
How much do we burn?
Don’t burn anything.
Let me rephrase that.
We’re building the
road in that direction.
All right.
Hah!
How about that?
At least the direction’s right.
You’ve got room
to improve, Lasty.
I’m not even trying yet.
Let’s calm down.
At this rate, we might
wipe out the whole forest.
At this rate, we might wipe out the whole forest.
THE DEATH FOREST
At this rate, we might
wipe out the whole forest.
At this rate, we might wipe out the whole forest.
DEAD
DEAD
Let's take it easy.
Gently, calmly...
- With as much restraint as possible,
we kept working.
- What kind of dance is that?
We’ll follow the
river for a while.
Over here too, please.
Heave-h*, heave-h*!
Pat pat pat pat.
Pile it on, pile it on!
Fwoooosh!
Chop!
Hey, can’t I just burn
it? This is so annoying.
Absolutely not.
AT THAT TIME
Excuse me.
This is for Lord Alfred.
It’s Zabuton’s latest piece.
It does seem a
little large, though.
Sheesh, you’re getting
ahead of yourself.
In the second village, we
built homes for the Minotaurs.
Since they’re so tall,
we’re building them
high, one-story houses.
And when the
buildings are huge...
the furniture is huge too.
This isn’t a
table, it’s a chair,
and that's the table.
It kind of makes me
feel like a kid again.
And that’s a bed, right?
What a strange shape.
- Yes.
It’s designed so
our horns won’t hit.
And this is the third village,
where the Centaurs live.
With bodies like horses,
a stable-style house
works best for them.
The entrance is wide too.
Are you adding doors later?
Yes, but...
we’re not very good at
opening and closing doors.
So, we’ll hang a pull-cord
curtain at the entrance.
I see.
Then, they close the large
sliding doors on rainy days.
Oh dear, someone’s
in a bad mood.
Leave it to me.
Here goes.
Peekaboo!
Peekaboo!
Wait, what did you just do?
Turn this way and show me.
It’s a secret.
About a month passed.
Thanks to everyone’s hard work,
each village began
to take shape.
Going by our step count...
this is roughly the distance.
So the third village is here.
Good thing we finished
before winter came.
True.
We can’t leave them unsheltered.
So...
What are we naming the villages?
Hmm... good question.
By location... Upper Village, Middle
Village, and Lower Village...
By location... Upper Village, Middle Village, and Lower Village...
UPPER VILLAGE / MIDDLE VILLAGE / LOWER VILLAGE
UPPER VILLAGE / MIDDLE
VILLAGE / LOWER VILLAGE
Those feel a little
too geographic.
For now, let’s go with Village One,
For now, let’s go with Village One,
VILLAGE ONE / VILLAGE TWO / VILLAGE THREE
VILLAGE ONE / VILLAGE TWO / VILLAGE THREE
Village Two, and Village Three.
Until we think of
something better...
Let’s avoid changing them.
Do you know how hard it’d
be to redo all the paperwork?
Yeah, it would.
Then... with Village One vacant,
Mr. Gordan would
lead Village Two,
and Gruwald would
lead Village Three... yes?
I suppose so.
But if everyone is
called “Village Mayor”...
I see your point.
To make the chain
of command clearer,
I think the titles
should be different.
HEAD MAYOR
HEAD MAYOR
Head Mayor?
Head Mayor?
GRAND MAYOR
GRAND MAYOR
Grand Mayor?
GRAND MAYOR
Mayor King?
MAYOR KING
MAYOR KING
Let’s not make it
sound too grand.
By the way...
when will our village be built?
Ah, sorry, but I’ve decided not
to make a village for your people.
I see...
So to settle down in this land
SAD PINE CONE
SAD PINE CONE
is but an impossible dream...
SAD PINE CONE
SAD PINE CONE
Wait, no need to rush.
SAD PINE CONE
I have a role I want
Igu’s people to take on
by living in each village.
The Nyunyu Daphne
seem better at staying outdoors in
one spot than moving around all the time,
so I proposed they remain at key locations
as resident watchers and messengers.
Apparently, they can send messages to
distant companions almost like telepathy.
Calm.
Calm.
So they’re ideal for
relaying messages.
Mellow.
Why not have them manage Village
One too, since no one lives there?
Good idea.
As you wish.
After all,
it would be awful to let it sit
unused and slowly fall into ruin.
On top of that, they’d also
serve as streetlights at night.
So then,
with everyone’s place settled,
I want to begin assigning jobs
to the residents of Village
Two and Village Three.
DEFEATED
Mayor.
There’s a bit of an issue.
Same here.
Apparently,
MAIN TARGET
both the Minotaurs
and the Centaurs
find it hard to
hunt in the forest.
They seem plenty
strong to me, though.
Minotaurs are a peaceful race.
so some of them can fight,
but when it comes to
hunting consistently...
It’s similar for the Centaurs.
Most of them are refugees
doing all they
can just to get by.
Since Kuro’s group
always hunts for us,
I never realized
how hard it was.
Kuro and the others are
ridiculously strong, you know?
Rather than sending
them into the forest,
we should probably have them focus on
guarding Village Two and Village Three.
Right...
RELIABLE GUARD
RELIABLE GUARD
I’ll ask Kuro and the Zabuton about it.
I’ll ask Kuro and the Zabuton about it.
I’ll ask Kuro and the Zabuton about it.
BRING IT ON!
BRING IT ON!
Do the Nyunyu Daphne
need guards too?
They do seem good
at avoiding fights.
Uh... rather than
needing guards...
We can do it if we have to.
Apparently, they’re very strong.
But since ambushes are their specialty, I
don’t think they can catch much at once.
NOT VERY MOBILE
don’t think they can catch much at once.
Just how do they fight...?
We left the hunting to
Kuro’s group for the time being
and began making
fields in each village.
Even if hunting
was hard, -One, two...
I wanted them to grow as much
of their own food as possible, but...
They’re taking
a while to sprout.
Come on... why?
Do you normally sow these
seeds at this time of year?
Sowing season, huh...
About that...
When was it again?
Let’s see...
- Er...
There was a reason the two
of us, after years of farming,
were now tilting our
heads in confusion.
I’d only been able to grow crops and
live off them in the middle of the forest
because of the power of the Almighty
Farming Tool the gods gave me.
It makes the soil
easier to grow crops in,
plant the seeds
of crops it creates,
and shorten the time
they take to mature.
Since I could harvest no
matter the season or climate,
that was how I’d managed to
support so many residents up to now.
But on the other hand, I’m the
only one who can use the Tool,
I’m busy enough as is.
It’s just huge!
WE GREW THESE OURSELVES
WE GREW THESE OURSELVES
So in the new villages,
WE GREW THESE OURSELVES
WE GREW THESE OURSELVES
I decided to have them farm
WE GREW THESE OURSELVES
WE GREW THESE OURSELVES
without relying on the Tool.
WE GREW THESE OURSELVES
But it’s not going
as well as I expected.
Let’s try different methods.
Well then...
if we cover it with straw like
this to keep it from getting cold,
the sprouts might come up.
With winter not far off, I think
planting wheat now would be best.
You know a lot about this.
- Not really.
I just did some farm work
in the village I came from.
So you have experience!
With Gordan’s advice
as a farming veteran,
we kept working on the fields.
The wheat we planted now
should make it through winter and
be ready to harvest before summer.
Half a year, huh?
It really does take long.
We’d gotten too used to farming
in The Great Tree Village...
No kidding.
Pineapples growing
in a land where it snows
surely isn’t normal.
Once again, I thanked the gods
for the Almighty Farming Tool.
And these are...?
These are supposed to be the
Creation God and the Agriculture God.
I was planning to build a
shrine and place them there.
Yes, by all means.
What splendid statues.
The one with the staff
is the Creation God...
and next to him is...?
That’s the Agriculture God.
That’s a rather unique take...
I guess the way they’re portrayed
changes from place to place.
FARMING LIFE IN ANOTHER WORLD 2
Farming Life In Another World 2
While the Minotaurs
thrived in farming...
Don’t fall behind.
Roger that.
the Centaurs, too, found new
work suited to their natural talents.
THE CENTAUR EXPRESS
They ran deliveries
between the villages:
the Centaur Express.
Even if hunting was tough,
they were faster than monsters,
THE CENTAUR EXPRESS THE GREAT TREE
VILLAGE - VILLAGE TWO - VILLAGE THREE
so each adult Centaur
was given the job of
making regular deliveries.
A new route record!
We definitely overdid it.
Please, from now
on, put safety first.
Mayor, may I speak with you?
What’s the matter?
I happened to see a horse
in this village’s pasture.
Yeah, I know.
Merchant Michael got him for me
along with the goats and chickens.
To be honest, I’ve always
dreamed of riding a horse.
But...
Hey!
Hey! Want a carrot?
He won’t listen to me at all.
If you can speak with horses,
could you ask him to let
me ride it at least once?
My apologies.
I cannot understand
their language.
However...
if that horse is not
your personal steed...
Hop...
Okay, good.
Then, if you’ll excuse me.
Whoa, this is really high.
Hold onto my shoulders.
Okay.
Hold on tight.
Whoa! This is really shaky!
I’ll pick up the pace now.
Sorry.
Not at all.
More importantly,
how does it feel?
Your first time riding, I mean.
This is amazing.
ANOTHER DAY
What’s going on?
Did you finally figure out
how to carry someone?
All right, go!
Oh, nice! Keep it up!
No way...
Good boy.
There, there.
What?!
Someone’s in a great mood.
Damn you!
Good morning, Mayor!
Lovely morning, isn’t it?
What’s this about?
You’re heading out, right?
Please, ride on my back!
Riding some...
some strange creature of
unknown origin is dangerous!
It’s my horse, though.
See? It’s dangerous!
Also, I know his origin.
Let’s calm down.
Easy, easy... Be nice, both of you.
- What kind of dance is that?
It's settled then.
Since I couldn’t have them
waiting for me every morning,
I promised I’d
ride them in turns.
Excuse me!!
Is there anything troubling you?
Or, um, is there
anything you need?
Anything you’re not sure about?
Please don’t hesitate to ask.
The sky...
- Yes!
Blue.
Yes! It’s lovely
weather, isn’t it?
Crop roots grow
deeper than you’d think,
so you should till the
soil nice and deep.
Yes, Senior Gordan.
Seems things are working out.
Yes.
With so many newcomers
arriving at once,
at first I really wondered
how this would go.
How’s everything?
Thanks to you, quite well.
Eventually, I want each village
to be able to stand on its own.
Right now, they rely
on you for everything.
I'm fine with that.
But to some extent...
I’d like them to handle
some things themselves.
Yeah...
It’s convenient, but depending on
the Tool for everything worries me.
Thanks to the gods, I’m
healthy and doing fine now, but...
One day I could suddenly get
sick and end up stuck in bed.
If that happens, it happens.
No point overthinking it.
It’ll be a long while before you get to
enjoy a carefree retirement anyway.
So there’s no need to worry.
I guess so.
Yep.
You’re right.
What’s wrong?
Ah, that smell...
You knew, didn’t you?
Okaaay, time for
a diaper change.
While I was unusually busy
thinking about the future,
I remembered there was still
one major issue unresolved.
The Great Tree Village has...
a lot of women.
A whole lot.
Seriously, a lot.
Meanwhile, there
are very few men.
FEMALES - MALES
FEMALES - MALES
At this rate, I worry
about the village’s future...
I did try recruiting male immigrants,
but that didn’t work out very well.
But now! We have
many new arrivals.
This should finally put
those worries to rest!
Men...?
Of our seventy-two,
twenty-eight are male...
Oh, really?
Could this be...
a military matter?
Are we to be sent
into battle as well?
No, it’s not that.
EXPLAINING
EXPLAINING
Anyway, this and that
Anyway, this and that
happened. A lot
of twists and turns.
I see.
But... among Minotaurs,
marrying within our
own race is the norm.
Our physical differences
are rather too great...
So that’s another complication.
It’s a shame, but I
guess the Minotaurs
will have to find happiness
among themselves...
Now then, the Centaurs.
It’s a bit awkward
to ask women this,
but it’s for the
village’s future.
Men...?
There are thirty males among us,
but all of them are still small children.
The adults have gone off to w*r.
I see.
So there are boys, at least.
This may be awkward to ask, but
it’s important, so I’d like to know.
About marriage
among the Centaurs...
I’m single.
Putting that aside...
Is it possible for Centaurs
to marry outside their race?
No, that is not
usually the case.
So the barrier between
races really is high...
As you say, it would be difficult for
Centaurs to take a mate from another race.
However...
if you mean to say that, to remain
here, we must surrender our women...
No, that’s not my intention...
Then please, take me!
I am prepared!
I would never demand
such a thing, so don’t worry.
Why not?!
- Why?!
Isn’t it men’s nature to
make defiant women submit?!
Who told you that?!
Anyway, calm down!
Easy now, easy...
- And that dance?!
All I can do is hope the Centaurs find
happiness with their own kind as well.
Would you rather I
acted more aloof?!
That’s not the issue!
