When Mica told me about the affair,

she wished she could have gone back
and done it differently.

However, she wanted to be
the best stepmother

that she could be to his kids, and…

they were just taking all steps
to make it work together.

-[JP] It was a dinosaur!
-[Mica] Yay!

It was a dinosaur!

-[JP roars playfully]
-[Mica giggles]

I was determined
that I would not like Mica.

I saw her then as the problem.

That did not last for long.

It was very easy to like Mica.

It was very easy to see
her giftings and abilities.

I just wanted to give you a… a dare today.

I dare you to do something
either good for yourself or someone else.

Because, like,

the second-greatest command,
"love your neighbor as yourself"…

[unsettling music playing]

[Charlotte] Mica told me multiple times,

"Don't call me before 11,
unless I call you first."

"John-Paul does not like it
if I get out of bed before him."

"So just don't call me.
I'll call you first in the morning."

Where I was like,
well, that's weird and unhealthy.

Mica told me that she took
lithium and Seroquel for bipolar.

The way that her body reacted
to being on these medications,

Mica was just very self-conscious
about weight gain.

And we started going to a gym together,

She had, I would say,
max three hours to hang out.

Right around the two-hour mark,
he would call her.

Twenty minutes later, he'd call her again.

And ten minutes later,
five minutes later, five minutes later.

Finally, if she wasn't leaving
when he wanted her home

or needed her, he'd show up.

Mica was very open about everything.

Like, herself, her relationship to God.

[worship music playing]

She told me that she was diagnosed
with bipolar,

but I always felt like
when it came to her marriage issues,

I wasn't hearing it all.

It was very vague conversations, like,

"Oh yeah, we got in an argument
this morning too,

so we're not doing so well."

And we were all like,
"Oh yeah, certainly. We'll pray for you."

"Anything we can help with?"

She's like, "No, I'll be okay.
You know how it is." And that was it.

[Mica] Hey, everybody.

I just wanted to share
the chorus of a song

that came to my head the other day.

Uh, I was just battling thoughts.

I wanted to sing this quick
and see if it encourages you.

I hope it does.

Um, but it's, uh… it says,

I pray for your healing
Circumstances will change

♪ I pray that the fear inside will flee
In Jesus's name

[Charlotte] Even though
we were very close,

it took a year and a half
for Mica to open up to me

about any kind of troubles.

It took her a while to kind of pass
that boundary of talking

about him in any kind of negative way.

But once she did start opening up to me,

I started noticing
more significant red flags.

[tense music playing]

She said, "I really wanna be supportive
of John-Paul in our marriage

and take all temptation away from him
to wander outside of the marriage."

"So, you know, we do something sexual
every single day."

I mean, no breaks allowed.

And if there were days off,

you better believe
he's getting it from somewhere.

Ladies, wives, if you don't meet
your husband's sexual needs,

Satan will put 20 different options

before his eyes
before the day's over with.

Mica talked to me quite a bit

about their sexual relationship
between her and JP.

She would say, "Well, we have sex
four times a day."

And I was like, "What?!"

That is… Do you like that?

I get his whole biblical stance on like,
"Don't ever say no to your husband."

But I'm sorry, that's ridiculous.

I've never seen anything like it.

He was our pastor.

Just opening up to me about that
was a big step,

so I didn't want to make her feel
that I'd crossed that boundary

into saying, "Well, gosh.
That's not okay."

I wanted to make her feel heard,
but not judged.

But can't you just not have an affair?

Matthew 5:28 says whoever looks at a woman
in lust has committed adultery with her

in his heart.

Man and woman.

A woman looks at a woman
in lust, adultery.

[crickets chirping]

[Charlotte] I reached out to Mica. I said,

"Hey, I'd love to see you before we're all
off for Thanksgiving and traveling."

And she said, "Things aren't good
in the Miller household now."

[gloomy string music playing]

[Sierra] Mica texted me and said,
"Can I come visit?"

So I said, "Yeah, that's fine.
Is everything okay?"

Mica had been very private
about everything.

After coming to my home,
she confided in me.

She said that John-Paul
would not stop asking her,

"If you could kiss any girl,
who would it be?"

And she said she didn't wanna answer it.
She felt uncomfortable.

Like, why would he be asking her
stuff like this?

Like, they're married.
That's inappropriate.

And she said he wouldn't stop asking her,

so she said that she thought
of the safest person

who she could think of,
which was Charlotte.

Which I thought was funny,
but he did not at all.

And because we were such great friends

and were spending so much time together,

it totally turned into a… a dark answer,
or dark moment for him, where he said,

"Well, what is your relationship
with Charlotte?"

And, "Have y'all kissed?
And, well, what feelings do you have?"

Then he starts saying, like,
"You're having an affair with her."

She said he was acting crazy.
Like, "I wasn't safe to be there anymore."

"I had to leave."

The next thing I know, I get put
into a group message

with JP, Mica, and myself.

"Charlotte is in this text
so she can hold me accountable for this."

"You can't treat someone like sh*t
and then leave."

"I need you to act
like a godly wife this one time

and prioritize your marriage
over your family, friends, and feelings."

"What you've done in our marriage
this time is totally unacceptable,

and no man would put up with it."

And Mica said,
"Why are you being so crazy?"

"I just wanted to visit my sister."

"Why put your sister before your husband?"

"I'm coming to you."

"You're a horrible wife to do this."

"When I arrive, I'm going to raise hell."

And Mica said,
"If you come here, you're trespassing."

"I don't care. That's funny."

"You can call cops. You did this."

And Mica said, "I don't feel safe."

"Mica, that's such a cop-out. Liar."

"You always say that to be able to leave."

"There's only one way this will work."

"You come home now."

I was absolutely floored.

-[engine revving]
-[suspenseful music rises]

[Sierra] John-Paul texted me at 9:38 p.m.

And he said, "I'm on the way
to your house. Be there at 12:55."

And I said, "Matthew," who is my husband,

"Matthew will not let you inside."

"We are not gonna have
none of this tonight."

He said, "That's fine.
You can call the cops."

[music peaks, dies down]

[car horn blares]

[Sierra] "I'm armed, and I'm ready."

[suspenseful music fades out]

[sinister string music playing]
