-For the school paper?

-Sure.

[Peter 2] If somebody told you I was just

your

average, ordinary guy,

somebody lied.



[Tom Holland] It feels surreal to

be here again,

to have done something that feels fresh

and new and different.

[Amy Pascal] Tom Holland, the greatest.

He embodies everything that is

Peter Parker.

[Kevin Feige] Because he is Peter Parker.

[Tom Holland] There's no secret that I was

incredibly jealous of their suits.

Cool Spidey outfit.

[Destin Daniel Cretton]

Every Spider-Man movie,

the greatest challenge is how to

push the action.

[Tom Holland] I think that this is some

of the best

action that we've had in any of

these movies.

And people of all ages seem to love

Spider-Man.



[Tom Holland]

It is a real joy and a real privilege to

be able to bring that sort of happiness

to people.

[laughs]

Woo!

[Peter 2] This is my gift,

my curse.

Who am I?

-[Peter 1] I'm Spider-Man.

-[Peter 3] I'm Spider-Man.

[Peter 2] I'm Spider-Man.

Thank you, thank you, thank you,

thank you.

[music builds]

I guess I'll see you.

[Destin Daniel Cretton] Every rendition of

Spider-Man has been quite different,

but the spirit of Peter Parker

remains the same.

I think it's really cool to see

this character

reinterpreted by different writers and

different directors over time, and what's

been fun in this movie is to see what our

Peter has learned from that experience.

[Tom Holland] Sharing the screen with

Tobey and Andrew

will be the highlight of my career

till kingdom come.

There's no secret that I was

incredibly jealous of their suits,

because they looked really cool, and they

were super comfortable, and the way that

they were made was set up so that they

could have a much easier time on set.

[Tobey Maguire] The suit can definitely

be, like, a challenge

at times when you gotta get in

the full thing.

Um, but then, like getting

comfortable in it, there is something

fun. Yeah, it just helps as an actor when

you get in your costume, you begin to,

like, feel it more and embody it more.

I liked wearing it because when I got into

the action or just the movements,

it really gave me a freedom to step into

that character.

I tried a suit on where the webbing was

three-dimensional.

There were separate pieces, like, on top

of the suit.

That's what sort of put it over the top,

'cause it added dimension to the suit.

Cool Spidey outfit.

Thanks.

Whoa.

-That came out of you.

-Yeah.

-You can't do that, huh?

-No.

The first trilogy was organic, but we

think that this day and age, it could be

believable that Peter could come up with

a system to do it mechanically.

[web sh**ting]

[Andrew Garfield] That was such a big

thing for him,

where he gets to flex his

science muscles, and

something exciting for the audience to go

through with him.

This is the outfit. It's different. I

mean, we're, we're changing things up.

Yeah.

The suit is what people love. Whatever

body is in that suit

doesn't really matter. That's what I find

so wonderful about, about this character,

is that he is everyone's, and he is

everyone.

What the hell are you wearing?

It's my suit.

Where's the case?

[Tom Holland] The suit is one of the

coolest things that

has ever happened to me in my whole life.

[Kevin Feige] The Spider-Man costume is

probably, with no exaggeration,

one of the best graphic designed elements

in the history of graphic design.

Whoa.

Oh my God.

This is insane.

[Tom Holland] It's weird, 'cause it is

like wearing a

work of art, and they look exactly like

you'd imagine them out of the comics,

that it feels like you should be able to

climb walls

and you should be able to sh**t webs.

What else can this suit do?

[gasps] What?

Before we started designing

the suit for Brand New Day, I tried on

Andrew's suit, and I tried on Tobey's

suit, and then I tried on my suit, and we

kind of created a spider child of all

three costumes. And I think now having

seen his, like, his older brothers

don their costumes and look so fantastic,

it was actually a really cool thing to

look up to his big brothers and dress like

them.

[Andrew Garfield] We were talking about,

like, the idea of

how cool it is to wear

the Spider-Man suit, but in reality, it

takes three people and five shoehorns and

a lot of talcum powder and oil.

Where are you using your talcum powder?

-Not really using talcum powder.

-Oh, okay.

'Cause that's how I started off.

-[laughs]

-The way to get your boots on is we have

these plastic bags that I put over my

feet.

-Ah, slippery.

-And then they slide right in.

But the only thing is is you get

mad sweaty feet.

Mm-hmm.

[laughs]

So working with Tom, it's

amazing. I mean,

he knows more about this character

than anybody. We spend a lot of times

talking to him and trying to make the

costume as

comfortable and as just user-friendly.

[Tom Holland] And that birthed this

really interesting

idea of what if we made a suit that was an

homage to Tobey's and Andrew's designs,

because now my Peter Parker had met

those guys.

This time, it's really interesting.

Because he's just met the two other

Spider-Men, the costume he makes for

himself is very influenced by Tobey's

costume, Andrew's costume.

At the end of No Way Home, because nobody

knows who he is,

all he might have are the components of

the old suits that Tony built for him, and

his own smarts.

He's making the suit himself.

That changed

the look of the costume, made it less

high-tech looking

and just much more

down-to-earth.

[Destin Daniel Cretton] It was important

in this movie to tell the

story of a Peter Parker who no longer has

Tony Stark to lean on, and so the suit

that you see feels like classic

Spider-Man.

He was really happy. He looks really

badass in it.

[intense music]

[grunting]

From Tobey to Andrew, and now Tom,

Spider-Man is such a physically demanding

role, and looking back, each film pushed

it further and further in stunts.

Action.

Tobey did a tremendous amount of his own

stunts in this picture, as much as

I would allow him to do.

They put a harness on and hook me up to

the wires, and they can control your

acceleration, your deceleration. So they'd

bring me up slowly at first. By the end

of the day, I'm going 50, 60 feet up like,

like a blast. Boom.

And then coming down. Oomph.

[screaming]

Woohoo!

You know, it's always fun

when you go in to do

something and you don't really, you're not

sure if you can pull it off or not, and

you do it, and you pull it off, and then

you're like, "Wow."

That was actually kind of fun.

I actually had to, I actually had to slow

up a little bit, I will say.

Here we go. Ready? And three,

two, one, action.

Andrew, he's a gymnast, so he's able to

do

a lot of his own stunts, and he really

informs the way Spider-Man moves.

-Okay, Jack, climb now.

-I can't.

-Yes, you can.

-And drop.

-No.

-[screaming]

I wanted to do something movement-wise

different than I've seen the character be

before, and like starting from the ground

up and going, "Well, so what's happened to"

"Peter Parker's DNA?" All of these

abilities now, he's confident in them.

Everybody's main aim is to make it look as

though you're watching a real physical

guy doing this physical action. He can't

have webs and he can't swing from crane to

crane, but we then want the audience to

walk out of there thinking, "Wow, how the

heck did they do that?"

You need a very physical actor

that can do it.

We had Andrew, who likes to push

boundaries.

He moved like a spider. That was his

whole thing.

He was always asking like,

"Is -this, does it feel spidery enough?"

I love being physical, and it's important

for me. It's one of my favorite things to

do.

And now.

And in Tom, we got even luckier because we

found a kid who not only is a great

actor, also can do a standing back flip

just for fun.

The fact that he had been a dancer and

understood what it meant to tell a story

physically, it was wonderful for us.

One of the first days we were

working together,

he decided to enter the scene by jumping

on a trampoline and doing a back flip and

then landing right in front of me.

That was incredible.

He is very athletic and does most of his

own stunts.

I feel like a badass right now.

[laughs]

Every Spider-Man movie, the greatest

challenge is how to push the action.

Mark it.

I think you'll feel that journey continue

in Brand New Day.

I always love to do a real stunt.

We want people to feel the weight, feel

the power.

We talk of make a very grounded real

action for Spider-Man.

We had a real tank on real streets with

real stunts while we were setting off real

explosions behind him, and it was crazy

to see.

[expl*si*n]

But that's what make people feel like,

"Wow, like you guys really go for it."

Three, two, one, action.

Putting Spider-Man on the street with cars

exploding, it's just so awesome.

[crowd cheering]

My good friend Nathan Kim is an amazing

dancer and an amazing dance choreographer,

and he was able to experiment with

different types of movement that would

help communicate part of our story.

It was a really intense and amazing

journey to, to figure out how to get all

of our puzzle pieces working together when

we had car crashes happening, vehicles

exploding, getting everyone onto

the same page

so that we could push things even further.

There are advancements that

we're able to do

that allowed us to accomplish more things.

In this movie, we have the camera in the

suit on the eye of Tom Holland as

he's skydiving off of a skyscraper.

It was just like-

Let's try and get a shot inside his mask

of his eyeball.

That could be cool [laughs]

And then, and then I, I tried to figure

out how to do it.

I think those shots look amazing.

A lot of the stuff that they have done has

elevated this character to a whole new

level, and I think that this is

some of the best action

that we've had in any of these movies.

What's unique about Spider-Man is that it

starts at the age of two

or earlier,

and it goes all the way to people my age

and older. The appeal of the character,

the Peter Parker in all of us, it has all

the elements.

He's international.

Every couple of months, one of my friends

will go,

"Dude, you're Spider-Man.

You're doing Spider-Man."

I can't wait for that movie," you know?

And they, like,

get all excited. I'm like, "Yeah, that is

cool."

Spider-Man!

They love me.

I definitely think that, you

know, most people identify me with the,

the Spider-Man character, and I

fortunately just love kids so much, and

it's, it's a lot of fun to, to have

interactions with kids when, when, you

know, they're meeting Spider-Man. I love

it. I love talking to kids and, and, um,

giving them a good experience in the

movies. You know, if they can have fun

watching the movies and they get a kick

out of meeting me, then, then that's

great.

You know who I am. Your friendly

neighborhood Spider-Man.

Woo-hoo!

-You know Amy and Matt?

-Yes.

-And Javi and Laura.

-Are you kidding me?

We have some news. So you're gonna be

the next Spider-Man.

[clapping]

-Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

-Take it in.

-It's gonna be impossible to take in.

-[laughs]

I'm flattered and honored,

and I will work as hard as any boy has

ever worked.

The shoes that had to be filled were

enormous, and the casting of that

character is everything.

I thought he embodied the spirit of an

adolescent unlike anybody else I had seen.

Andrew came in. He couldn't believe it.

He almost passed out.

I didn't think I had a hope in hell of

being cast, like, genuinely.

So when I first heard about it, I, I kind

of thought, "Well, I hope they do a good"

"job." That was my only real thought,

because I love the first three films.

Eventually, I kind of got to a very quiet

place within myself and, you know, this

little voice came up, and it was me as a

three-year-old, and he was like, "Yo, yo",

yo, what the hell are you thinking? Of

course you're gonna go and do this because

this has always been

what you've wanted to do your whole life

since you were born. You were meant to be

"in contention for this role."

It's always meant a great deal to me, and

I've always somehow related to it and

found hope in Peter Parker's struggle, and

I've been allowed to step into the shoes

of someone that I've always wanted to step

into the shoes of.

[plucky hopeful music]

This is... I think this might be the most

incredible day of my life, and

I've always wanted to be at Comic-Con in

Hall H as Spider-Man with all of you guys.

-It's always been a dream of mine.

-All right.

So thanks for having me.

[cheers]

You have no idea. You have no idea how

much this means to me

I think the thing I'm proudest of is the

fact

that people of all ages seem to love

Spider-Man.

[cheering]

[Tom Holland] There's always a real

special moment when

I put the suit on, especially in front of

little kids, and they see the suit, and

their eyes light up and stuff.

It is a real joy and a real privilege

to be able to

bring that sort of happiness to people.

[cheering]

There is something about that mask

that

anybody, no matter what your ethnicity, no

matter where you are in the world, you

can picture yourself behind that mask.

[cheering]

It's bizarre to think about the fact that

it's been over a decade now for me.

Still feels like yesterday, though.

Tobey was one thing,

Andrew was one thing, and Tom is a whole

other thing.

It's a different energy. He's a kid, and

yet

he's got this awesome,

masculine power.

Tom Holland!

Peter Parker is basically

just an American

version of myself who's really clever.

I'm intimidating.

If anybody were to be a real Spider-Man in

real life, I would want it to be Tom.

Here we go, buddy.

He's just a nice, likable guy. Tom

is just

the way I had pictured Spider-Man being

when I created Spider-Man.

With great power comes great

responsibility.

I get to be Spider-Man. It's the coolest

thing ever. It feels surreal to me to be

here again, to have done something that

feels fresh and new and different.

It was important to us to cast someone who

really was kind of young and who we could

watch grow up before our eyes over the

course of these movies.

When we started the Home trilogy,

we really wanted to embrace and lean into

the kid aspect. Tom Holland was actually a

teenager when we started.

I watched Tom

grow up in front of my eyes.

He's just raw Tom Holland.

Look at him go.

I'm so excited that I get to

watch how you work and, oh, that's, that's

how... Oh, that's interesting. Oh, it

was, I was like, it was like cool.

So it's like a, it's a mutual kind of

mentorship, menteeship, and

you don't know who's the mentor.

You can see his progression from

Homecoming to now, that he really is on

his game.

The advice that Tom Holland was given by

Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker and Tobey

Maguire's Peter Parker made its way into

our script and our story, and you'll feel

that journey continue in Brand New Day.

Give me a sec.

I'm not in high school anymore.

I think it was important to allow Peter

Parker to grow up off camera so that we

could create a world that felt more

mature, felt different to the previous

trilogy, and give Destin a almost blank

canvas to build something new.

Tom Holland really embraced this new stage

in Peter Parker's life, and Tom

just gives such a mature performance

in this movie.

What is happening to me?

I think it definitely wouldn't be the

movie that it is without Tom Holland

because of all the work that he's doing

behind the camera.

Tom Holland, the greatest. He embodies

everything that is Peter Parker.

-I'm happy.

-Let's just do one more.

Because he is Peter Parker.

Because he has all that inside him for

real.

-You're just becoming Spider-Man.

-That's so good.

-[laughs]

-Yes.

I try my best. I try my best.

[Ned] I can't believe our first

day at MIT.

happiest you've ever been in

your entire life.

This movie is about a journey to a

brand-new day.

Peter Parker is in a city surrounded

by millions of people,

and yet he feels completely alone.

-Mark it.

-Action.

Hi, my name is Peter Parker.

You don't remember me, but we used

to know each other.

So much of this film is about him coming

to the understanding that the best way to

keep the ones that he loves safe is to

keep them away from him.

Something bad was gonna happen, and the

only way to stop it was to make everyone

forget about me. Because I'm not just

Peter Parker,

I'm Spider-Man.

[intense music]

Action.

This movie is about a web of lies that he

has told himself are all true falling

apart,

and it is about thinking that the past is

buried,

and it always comes back.

First time in our MCU Peter Parker that he

is on his own. He is focusing

mainly on Spider-Man, so no one knows who

Peter Parker is.

[Tom Holland] That creates a pressure and

a stress

that sparks this metamorphosis in

him.

What is happening to me?

He is gonna be a loner.

Three, two, one, go.

As he chooses to be more of his darker

side, he becomes more spider-like.

Oh, God.

[screams]

The key arc of Peter's journey is about

him learning that he can't do this alone.

-Excuse me, Dr. Banner, I need your help.

-What'd you say your name was?

It's been five years since the last movie

took place. It'll be less about problems

in high school and more about himself and

saving the city.

Stay out of my way.

This movie has so much heart as well as so

much action and so much fun.

And there is twists and turns and things

that fans will love.

It's gonna be awesome. It's gonna be

really cool.

The beautiful thing is watching a

character accept that life changes, but

every morning there is a brand-new day,

and that is equally as exciting.

The brand-new day of this movie,

it isn't the beginning. It's in the last

frame of this movie.
