Having Peach gone, it's sad

because she was my roommate,

Buddy, and my good friend here.

I'm moving into the apartment

with Val, Gretchen, and Ivy,

and it's uncomfortable for me

to move into their room because

I know that people have said

things about me being young

and not being ready to be here.

Yeah, April's coming.

That'll be cool.

I hope we can, like, gel with

her though, you know, 'cause

she's a lot younger than us.

That's the only uncomforting

thing, is the unknown.

But I'm a really strong girl,

and I don't deal with

bull[Bleep], so if I have

a problem, I'll voice it to

them.

So how does it feel like

to win two times?

Oh, great.

That feels fabulous.

I feel like Gretchen.

Just a little better.

When I went back to the

designers' lounge and I told

them I won...

I won, they loved it.

None of them were happy.

None of them were excited.

And this kinda hurt me really,

really bad.

I didn't think that I'd win that

challenge, I really didn't.

There were so many haters

Nobody really cared that I won.

Felt sad.

I'm trying my best to

respect him as a designer,

but I do think he is the weakest

designer here, and I don't think

he has the skill sets to stay

here.

No, but you know what my

struggle is with you with,

like--'cause I still don't know

who you are, and that's just

my honest opinion, is I don't

know your aesthetic completely.

I like evening wear,

and I like doing draping and

pleating and that kind of stuff.

And I've developed my own kinda

sewing technique that works for

me.

Well, I guess it's working.

I was a little bit scared,

because Michael Kors had been so

rude with me in the critiques.

I'm sure you're all wondering

y we're standing here at

a boat dock.

Well, today we're gonna talk

out resort wear.

You challenge is to create

a resort wear look that

illustrates your point of view

as a designer.

And your look should be

interesting, eye-catching,

and of course super fashionable.

I come from Palm Springs.

I can do resort wear.

I got this.

The key thing that you need

to remember is that resort wear

can include anything from

swimwear to casual clothes

or even an evening gown.

I love resorts.

I love going on vacation.

I'm actually kind of excited

about this one.

Ha ha, resort wear.

I never go on vacation.

You know what, I wake up late

in my apartment and I walk

around in my underwear and

a t-shirt.

That's resort wear for me.

So whatever.

To get you guys into

a relaxed state of mind,

i'm sending you out on a boat

ride where you're gonna sketch

and have a little brunch.

I'm also giving you sunglasses

from my line.

and it's phenomenal.

Just trying to get into my

head about resort wear, 'cause

live in Hawaii.

I don't think of it as resort

wear.

I think of it just like any

other day.

Well, then it's just

any-other-day-wear to you.

I'm going the route of

a luxury bathing suit that will

be a one-piece and very sexy.

I'm gonna also do a cover-up,

which is gonna give my client

the option of wearing this

bathing suit all day basically.

Just love what you do,

because I think you like to put

things that are unexpected

together.

Well, I was called out for it

yesterday.

I was called out for a lot

of things that I did.

But would I take it back?

[Bleep] No.

Even if I knew I'd be in the

bottom again, [Bleep] No.

Everything thus far I've done,

i've been like, wow, I really

like that.

I've never done resort wear

before, except for the hat

challenge.

It's just really

unflattering, and I have

a feeling even worse from

the back.

I am going to create a sexy,

all-black really risque, like,

vacation to this asylum.

It kinda creepy, but I like

the idea of it.

signer, and I don't want to,

like, go this route.

what is at your core.

I don't want you standing on the

runway saying, "well, I'm a dark

designer, so I decided to do

something else."

If you're dark, make dark

resort.

I have to stay true to myself,

because I'm not gonna let

anybody crush my vision,

'cause it's a gift.

What I want to do is

a three-dimensional pant.

And in the top, I wanted to do

a print and have a vest that

goes over it that's very

romantic.

two hats.

A lot of the people in the

room don't really like me.

We all know that when Tim has

the bag, it's trouble.

Designers, as I'm certain

you've deduced, there is another

dimension to this challenge.

Great, there's something

I'm putting you into teams

of two.

I knew it.

Because each of you will be

wearing two hats.

One is the hat of the designer.

The other is the hat of

a one-person sample room.

Because you are executing each

other's design work.

I cannot believe that we have to

give our designs to someone else

to execute.

It's like handing your child

to somebody else.

Successful designers in the

fashion industry do not make

their own work.

They outsource to sample rooms

and production houses.

And, in a manner of speaking,

that's what you're going to be

doing today.

She's got tons of ideas in her

And April knows how to drape.

She understands bias,

now, I'm not the fastest,

best sewer.

And I don't know if you already

know, but I don't use patterns.

I do all draping stuff.

Well, let me just say this.

And I'm not real excited about

this, because your construction

is awful.

And the fact is you have

immunity.

I know he don't like me,

but I'm not banking on the

immunity to get me through this

challenge.

I wanna prove that I can do

outstanding work.

This is a really difficult

challenge right now because

I'm so used to just doing my

own work.

And so now I've had to, like,

neurosis to me.

So my plan is right now just to

go in there, take the direction.

So this is gonna be half an

these three colors to make

that aesthetic isn't going to

afraid to just really focus on

working with him to get my

All I've done is cut out a pant.

be there.

He doesn't have a clear ruler,

Although, in the judges'

eyes, Michael C. Is a good

designer, it just makes me

wonder, what is his level?

And when is it going to be

reached?

And when is he going to

exasperate his bag of tricks?

I should win the prize for

this.

Even if I don't win the

challenge, I should win a prize

for this if it gets done.

I'm feeling like [Bleep].

I am actually thinking that I

might want to leave right now,

because I'm feeling like this

is the end for me.

I'm a little worried for

Casanova.

Why can't the judges see

value in what I do?

My concern is that, like,

it's not gonna lay flat against

her body.

The Twist on this is that we

have to switch our work with

someone.

We're basically having to be

a designer that's watching

a sample maker do our stuff and

execute someone else's look.

sometimes when people say I

I very much admire Michael

a little bit of a Twist.

I'm sure it freaked all of you

out, but you always have to be

able to explain what you want

to someone else.

'Cause the chances of you sewing

every sample that you're gonna

make in your career are

impossible.

So I'm interested and excited to

see.

Let's start with Gretchen

and Casanova.

Fantastic.

So tell me what we were thinking

here.

I'm looking for her to make

a simple blouse with palazzo

very tailored pant.

Be careful.

It's not a young pant.

And it's beige, and I love

beige, but you've got to make

sure it still looks a little

youthful.

I'm a little worried for

Casanova.

Traditional couture is for older

clientele.

Unfortunately I don't think

that's what the judges are

looking for.

Great, so now what's going on

over here?

To me, resort is about from

the beach to nighttime.

Right.

This is, like, a super

exaggerated palazzo.

This is a whole lot of

bordeaux.

Maybe you want to Twist the two

colors.

Gretchen's still hook on

the same color palette of the

group challenge.

The color palette was awful.

Be careful that it stays

modern, so, you know, or else

it could look really old.

Tell me what's going on here.

Mondo wanted to have a hooded

batwing jacket with a zipper

going down the front.

Mondo's stuff is just insane.

He's an amazing designer.

Where's the pink ribbon

going?

It's the elastic.

I think you'd better be

really careful--

the styling, I know.

You got a lot of pattern.

You got a lot of color.

It's fun.

I know it's your thing.

Just make her look like

a fabulously sexy girl at the

beach.

I wanted to do this humungous

palazzo pant.

It's low cut, but it's not too

low cut.

You know, it's really not my

style.

This is his design.

But I have to do a good job

at executing his vision because

I am going to be judged for

that.

It's cool fabric.

Do me a favor.

She's glammy-puss over the top.

Keep it simple.

I wanted to do a long, like,

maxi sundress.

But I also wanted to keep true

to my style.

You've got some really nice

lines here.

That's actually what I wanted

to do and keep that sheer.

and then you do this, just sheer

floating over it.

really excited about.

So now what are we looking

at?

I wanted to do something

that's whimsical that will kind

of flow and just feel like she's

in Los Angeles, she's going out

to dinner.

I don't want it to be too

toga party at all, so we were

gonna try to pull it--

but I actually like the

draping, 'cause I think you've

got something pretty here.

The fabric wants to move.

It does.

You know, when it walks down

the runway, if it has movement,

it just always looks more

dramatic.

All right, we can't wait to see

it.

So let's see.

Ivy, you have all your sketches.

Well, this was my original

sketch, but we had to modify

the pants a little bit.

I'm keeping the top as is.

And I thought a nice circle

skirt might work in the linen,

and lining it with this

georgette.

I don't understand this with

this.

I was originally gonna do the

pants and the georgette,

but I wanted to simplify it,

so I decided to do a skirt to

make life easier.

Ivy's design, I mean, it was

just dumbed down and dumbed down

and dumbed down and boring.

I think that the print on the

blouse looks careerish.

I agree with Michael.

You need to release yourselves

from the print.

It does not take me to

a resort situation.

For Michael kors to come in

and kind of just tell you what

you're not doing right, it's

difficult to hear because we're

at such a vulnerable stage.

You've got to make sure that

you can really get your seams

gorgeous here.

If Ivy can give me a clear

idea of what I need to do,

I can do a good job.

You know, Ivy's a powerhouse,

and she's a bossy Lady.

And good luck, Michael d.

I was just going to have

this silhouette.

And I was going to have it have,

like, a long sleeve attached

to it with sort of, like,

a ruffle.

I think you should be careful

that the arm hole and the back

of it feel sexy enough.

Okay, yeah.

So it doesn't look like she's

just in a black prison matron

sack.

So all right, well, good

This is my look that

Valerie's working on, and it's

a one-piece bathing suit.

And then we're using this silver

silk to do a wrap.

A lot of work you have there.

Yeah.

Well, I think I'm gonna make

that first and then--

this is very time-consuming

to get that thing right.

And it's got to be hemmed

beautifully.

Right, doing a baby hem.

We judges are hem-obsessed.

This design is something

that's really relaxed but also

can kind of act as a cover-up.

It's like a little vest.

Right, right.

And then the top is just gonna

be a bandeau, and we're using

this knit for the bandeau.

I don't get that blue--

well, first off, I mean, you

keep going back to colors that,

I mean, quite honestly no one

likes.

I mean, the addiction to this

cadet blue and the bordeaux,

I'm telling you, like, move on.

I've been in the top four

times now, and I've not won yet.

And I just keep wondering why--

like, why can't the judges see

value in what I do?

Designers, I want you to

thank Michael kors for this

extraordinary experience.

Well, it was interesting

working with Michael.

I just feel it was challenging

because a lot of the technical

terms he didn't really know.

I was worried about this day

all last night.

I'm not finished with Ivy's

look.

Ivy's freaking out.

She doesn't trust me.

It makes it harder.

I definitely have a feeling

that I might be on the bottom,

because it's too late to even

think about a new concept and

we only have two hours left,

so I'm going to make sure that

Michael d. Keeps his end of the

deal and finishes my look.

It'd be great not to feel

like you're a complete doo-doo

head.

Okay, let's work on your

stuff.

It doesn't have to be as

Okay, let's start the show.

When I see my look walking

down the runway, the lights are

picking up the metallics in the

jumpsuit.

It looks shimmery.

I am feeling very confident

right now.

I'm excited because, you

know, it's cheerful and fun.

It's sunny.

The only thing is that lenka

isn't bringing the bubbly

spirit I'm trying to show to

the judges.

My design looks amazing.

It's beautiful, and it's chic,

and really sexy, and glamorous.

Ivy ex*cuted my piece really,

really well.

And I think I have a chance at

being in the top three.

I don't think it looks that

great.

I'm thinking that I basically

screwed myself on this

challenge, because it's just

horrid.

I know it's not all my fault,

but Ivy's unhappy with it.

And it looks boring and bland.

She kinda looks like the statue

of liberty.

My look on the runway is very

soft.

The drape is very nice.

It's beautiful.

When I see my look come down

the runway, I'm really excited.

She looks so sexual.

It looks like this dark,

romantic vision that I had.

This remote island that was this

crazy-a*s asylum.

I love it.

It's perfect.

Good job on the execution,

I'm so happy with my look.

I feel, like, more comfortable

than before.

I'm going to be okay.

I just think Heidi would love

my look.

But everything here is, like,

unpredictable.

I think it has richness, and

luxury, and the essence of

resort.

notice on the runway that I

wasn't thrilled with.

I noticed some of the panels are

kind of popping out, and it

wasn't how I would do things.

look?

I kind of wanted this dark

inspiration, because that's kind

of my aesthetic.

So I looked to the idea of her

being, like, captured.

And this is where I got the idea

of the intricate top.

And Christopher did an excellent

job, so it worked out really

well.

I think April, this very much

to me looks like you.

So I think it's really well

done.

I think the work that went into

the top, which I saw in the

workroom, was brilliantly

finished.

It's this tough, punk,

baby doll.

Which is kind of a cool thing.

I love it too.

I think that she looks super

hot, super sexy, but not vulgar.

Because you put, like, a real

big panty under it.

They are shorts.

Not, like, underwear, it's

shorts.

Let's have a look.

The top follows the short,

it's like function follows form.

That's why they fit so

nicely.

You think it's not noticeable,

but it is.

Kristen, what do you think?

I love, love this dress.

This is definitely something

that I would wear.

And I often describe myself as a

super punky edgy baby doll, as

you have said.

So this is right up my alley.

And I would wear it on the red

carpet.

I think this looks stunning.

I mean, from head to toe.

It has movement, it is sheer,

it's got something going on in

the top.

It's fantastic.

Tell us about your look.

I wanted something that was

versatile.

Living in Hawaii, I know a lot

of women who just live in

bikini's and cover-ups.

But I wanted to do something

more sophisticated, edgy.

So I did a one-piece bathing

suit that has this wrap that

actually can tie up here for

more coverage, or tie at the hip

for less coverage, depending on

where she's going.

And Valerie did an excellent

job executing it.

She had to do a swimsuit and

work with a fine silk-chiffon.

I think that it's very

commercial.

I can see tons of hot women

wanting to wear this on a boat

somewhere, cruising from place

to place.

I like it a lot.

I think it looks very

sophisticated.

I think the choice of fabric was

spot-on.

And it looks expensive.

I think it is really

beautifully done.

It's exciting, it's glamorous.

I mean, it's really an easy suit

for a lot of women to wear.

And that's actually the

reason I like it the most.

Because I don't think you have

to sacrifice beauty for

simplicity.

Whether you're a size 12 or a

size 2.

So I made a simple

silhouette.

I went with this linen because I

thought it looked really

beautiful and expensive.

Ivy is an exceptional craftsman.

I think she did a fabulous,

fabulous job.

I was very lucky to have her.

Ivy, how was it working with

Michael?

It was just...A bit of a

challenge just because I don't

think Michael really knows how

garments go on and off.

So that was--I felt like in that

aspect I did help him.

What do you think about that,

Michael?

I think that that's actually

true.

We don't speak the same jargon.

Mm-hmm.

Ivy is very technical.

She went to parsons, I'm

self-taught.

I think it was difficult for

Ivy.

Well, it sounds like the

back story maybe was a little

complicated.

A little oil and water here.

But what we're talking about

today is the end result.

Mm-hmm.

And the end result is a

really fabulous-looking garment.

Oh, totally, I agree.

It works in every regard.

I love the black chain detail,

how it worked out, can I see

the back for a sec?

It's legitimately what you'd

wanna wear in the tropics.

The more I look at it, I'm

really falling in love with it.

I think that it's very, very

effortless.

It could work for women of

many ages.

It's just really, really

beautiful.

Tell us about your look.

Well, when Michael approached

us with this challenge, honestly

I almost peed my trunks, because

I've never been to a resort in

my life.

I don't even know what resort

wear is.

So I like to play with color, so

that's just what I did.

This was very disappointing,

mondo.

It looks very inexpensive, and

it looks very junior.

Okay.

The whole--I--well, I don't

know what resort is because I've

never been to a resort and so

this is what I'm presenting--I

think that's a cop out.

Every designer, regardless of

your aesthetic, does a resort

collection.

Okay.

Doesn't matter who you are.

I would've liked to have seen

a little bit more of an idea for

an adult.

I'm just a tiny bit confused.

It just looks like a weird

assemblage of clothes from

forever 21 that were on the sale

rack.

Michael, how was it working

with mondo?

Him and I were not really

friends in the beginning.

But working with him, I've never

had more of an amazing time in

my life.

I have to say this was the

funnest challenge for me.

He gave the most amazing

direction.

And I think he collaborated with

me on a professional level as a

sample-maker amazingly.

And I'm really proud of him.

I'm proud of our energy

together.

And I learned so much about

myself, helping Michael through

this process, you know.

I mean, we're on the chopping

block and this is the result,

but...

Oh, well.

Ivy, tell us about your look.

The color palette that I

chose was something reminiscent

of the ocean.

It would have the movement of

the ocean.

But when I found out that I was

working with Michael, with his

limitations of skill, I had to

edit down a lot.

Because he had mentioned that he

didn't know how to execute a

pant.

So I think I changed my skirt

design probably about two times

because I was worried that he

wasn't going to be able to

finish in time.

Michael, how do you feel

about that?

I didn't say I can't execute

a pant, I just said that I'm

uncomfortable executing a pant

in this amount of time.

I've made pants, and they fit

really well.

I can sew.

These fabrics were difficult for

me, and I did my best.

She probably had seven

different fabrics.

I had four.

But by buying all of those

fabrics, and in some instances

buying so little of them, you

can't really do much with them.

Well, the silhouettes that I

had in mind, I could have.

I don't know.

All I can tell you is the top

and the whole outfit just has no

personality.

I agree.

It's a yawn.

It is.

What keeps coming up is that

you're very good technically.

But I question if you have the

ideas to really be a designer.

Be a good designer.

I'm just very disappointed

that I wasn't able to execute

my look for you.

Michael, I probably saw you

roll your eyes ten times while

Ivy was speaking.

Working with her on a

previous challenge, I was

terrified.

I don't know if Michael was in

the same category as I, but--

then you shouldn't roll your

eyes.

I'm just saying that...

I just see your eyes rolling.

You can be pretty bossy,

that's all.

Ivy, as trained as you are,

you have to be the type of

person that can look at

Michael's strengths and say,

"okay, how can we best win

together?"

In our defense, I have to say

we did do that to see where

Michael's strengths were.

But now, with all this

explanation why your outfit

looks the way it looks, you

still threw him under the bus.

Well, I'm here for the

competition and I need to defend

my look, so this is what I'm

doing.

It's a little bit

unfortunate, this look.

Especially when you start

talking about your grandmother,

and you designed with your

grandmother in mind.

This does not really read

vacation to me.

I think if the challenge was

to make something for a



a mall and getting back to the

house early so she can watch

television, you've succeeded.

But the reality is it's a runway

show.

So the fantasy needs to be

there.

I'm generally attracted to

neutrals, and there is something

about this that doesn't have

enough for me to want to love.

It might not have worked this

time.

There is nothing cool about

this outfit.

It is so mumsy.

Here's what I don't understand,

I've seen extremely sexy from

you.

Maybe too sexy.

And then this extremely matronly

from you.

It's either she's almost naked

or she looks like she's 70 years

old.

Where is the middle ground here?

Because, well, they said, "well,

we've heard that you're a really

great sewer, but we wonder if

you're a great designer."

No, I was--I was trying to give

them a perspective of--no--how

it was going.

And it came across as I was

throwing him under the bus,

It's okay.

That was the most poorly-sewn

garment I've done since I've

been here.

And I really think in hindsight

it's because she didn't trust

me.

designers that we did like.

He managed to have something

that was dramatic and very him.

It was very wearable, it was

saleable.

And the other thing, he made

a bathing suit.

And a very good-looking bathing

suit.

drummond.

It's definitely something

someone would wanna wear in a

resort.

This idea of all these cutouts,

and the interesting neckline and

the straps.

Also, he left her clean, and

polished, and pulled-together.

I think that he really did

have a clear, concise idea.

He managed to explain to her

what he wanted.

Because he ended up with a great

garment.

I love this dress.

She managed to give us this,

kind of, punky baby doll that I

think was very her but still

playful.

I thought it was very

editorial, very cool.

It's also wearable.

Yeah.

Which is the best of both

worlds.

Let's talk about the designs

that we didn't like so much.

Let's start with mondo.

These are just random,

colorful clothes.

Yes.

There's nothing unusual.

You can find them in K-mart.

There's an idea to be

respected about it...

That's colorful and fun.

Because, think about it,

let's say you had to sh**t an

editorial...
