Post by bunniefuu »

- [Big Schwag] Okay, Monster fans,

up against the wall

and spread up.

- The cops, Man, are here.

[g*n firing] - But what the hell

are they looking for?

- We don't eat bagels,

we don't eat croissants.

- [Schwag] Donuts!

[rock music]

This place has turned

glazed and confused.

So grab a cold one,

chop down on a hot one

and don't blink.

It's a box full of Monster Garage.

[radio transmitting]

[rock music]

- [Narrator] Join us now

as Jesse and his g*ng

of maverick mechanics

rip, grind and burn,

transforming ordinary street vehicles

into monster machines,

in the Monster Garage.

- [Narrator] The challenge,

take a perfectly good cop car

and turn it into a

bad to the bone donut chop on wheels.

[siren blaring]

The rules.

When built, the machine

must appear to be stock.

The team can spend no more than

Jesse and his crew have seven days

and seven nights.

On the first day,

they design.

For the next five,

they build.

And on the seventh day,

they dunk.

If successful,

each team member takes home

a $3,400 set of Mac Tools.

And the clock starts now.

[tires screeching]

Jesse James loves donuts.

[tires screeching]

- Yeah! - Oh my...

[tires screeching] [rock music]

- [Narrator] In a toxic cloud

of burnt rubber, [siren blaring]

Smokey brings his bandit buster

into the garage.

- This is my new favorite.

[speakers drowned out by music]

- [Narrator] Jesse's first official act

on the right side of the law.

[car door closing]

Call her a Monster Garage sh**ter.

[siren blaring]

The design squad reports for duty.

Bad boy Jesse wants to do good

by making cops make donuts.

- Oh, the infamous Jesse James.

How are you?

[Frank chuckling]

[siren blaring]

- Everybody knows that

cops love donuts,

so we're gonna try to get more

mileage out of our tax dollars

by bringing the donuts to them.

If they just have them right there,

all the time,

they can still bust people

and we're gonna actually

be saving money.

- [Narrator] Jesse's plan,

divide and conquer.

- So here's the deal.

I think we should split this thing

right down the middle.

The driver's side

should be a police car,

the busting people side.

The other side should be a donut shop.

- Oh yeah, I like that concept.

[Frank chuckling] - Everybody's looking at you.

[men laughing] - Yeah.

- Well, let me think about that.

Yeah.

[men chuckling]

the Long Beach Police Department.

- But we'll definitely keep an eye

on Jesse to make sure that he behaves.

If he breaks the law,

it's the letter of law.

I gotta take him to jail.

Even though he's my friend,

I still gotta do my job.

But he knows that too.

He may not go peacefully,

but that's another show.

the donut machine going this way,

so none of the grease would be...

If you slam on the brakes.

- That's part of our job,

is to make donuts every day.

Basically get paid to play with food.

- [Narrator] Donuts are deceptively simple.

- Despite what people may think,

it's a pretty complicated process

in making donuts.

It is an art form.

Never knew donut making

was so high tech, did ya?

- I thought it was just some dude

with the tongs.

[Allen chuckling] - This type of donut.

- We can do chocolate or white or...

- Different types of icings,

different types of coatings.

Like, we have coconut, butternut.

- [Narrator] A display case

will be crammed into

the passenger's side of the cruiser.

Every donut will get a window seat.

- The display case is to, like,

lay them out there.

[Allen chuckling]

- [Narrator] But how are they

going to display their display case?

The doo doodling has an idea.

- What if we suicide the back door,

that it kind of opens up?

[rock music]

- [Narrator] Animator and former

Disney imagineer, Jason Holst,

has been drawing and building hot rods

since he was a kid.

- Hot rod design

and custom car design for me,

is both a hobby and a passion.

My dad has a hot rod shop

up in Southern Oregon,

Paul's Customs.

Growing up around it,

that is kind of in my blood

and that's where it's at for me.

- Wow!

This one's gonna be harder

than I thought.

[men chuckling]

So cooker, hopper, ingredients,

a display case.

I think we got enough work

to keep us busy for five days.

Cramming all this stuff in there.

- Easy. - Here's how they'll

dish it out.

A gas generator

will provide the power.

The trunk will get

an automated deep fryer.

A conveyor belt

will shuttle the sinkers forward

and drop them

in a cooling box up front.

The passenger's side door

will turn suicidal.

An armed and loaded display case

- Despite all the tongue and cheek,

everything else about this project,

it's gonna be pretty tough.

We measured it...

Just loose measurements

for the cooker and everything.

We've got plenty of room,

but mounting it,

it's gonna be pretty tough.

Drop it in here,

gotta go through the oil,

to go down a conveyor

and then out here to the back seat.

I really want it to open up

and look just like a donut shop

with white cases, with plexiglass

and you know, a whole display thing.

- I've been to a donut shop once.

I think I can remember that.

[men chuckling]

- Are you gonna try to save

your rear seat

for a prisoner?

- Let's put a pad on top

of the generator.

There's no law that says,

they have to be comfortable.

[striking unfastening] - Yeah.

[John grunting] - There's no police car

without lights.

[lights thudding]

- [Narrator] The monster strip search

turns up some incriminating evidence.

A discarded blade.

- This came from a bad guy.

Somebody did a bad search,

and left a pocket knife

in the guy's pocket

and he probably dumped it out

behind the front seat

or behind the seat.

And that would get you k*lled.

[dramatic music]

- [Narrator] Longtime bike cop,

lifetime biker.

Randy Villata's career

in law enforcement

ended by accident.

- I'm retired. The result

of cumulative injuries

of two motorcycle accidents.

Both times I was sitting in traffic

waiting to make a turn.

Both times I was rear-ended.

The first time, I got back,

neck and leg injuries.

The second time, I was out.

I was out cold the second time.

Woke up and had some injuries,

including a wrist that I had to have

reconstruction surgery on twice.

- [Narrator] 18 years of wearing a badge

and riding two wheelers

has left Randy with some strong opinions

about being a cop.

- There's two kinds of cops.

There's motorcycle cops

and there's cops that wish

they were motorcycle cops.

[upbeat music]

- [Narrator] The cruisers turned up

another bone for the crime dogs.

- Hey, Mike. - Back and forth.

- Is this your part

of the marijuana pipe

that we found in here?

- No, [indistinct]. [John chuckling]

Where's the rest of it?

- [Narrator] A poker and a toker.

Some cop out there needs to brush up

on his frisking.

To make room for the display case,

part of the front dash has to go.

[rock music]

So Jay gets it going.

[rock music]

- Touch them on the negative

and positive pulse of the battery.

And hopefully it'll set off the bag.

[airbag exploding]

- With a bang. - Like that.

[Jay chuckling]

[John chuckling] - Wow, Jay!

- It may be noisy, by the way. [Jay chuckling]

[John chuckling]

- That'll get your attention.

- Yeah.

- [Narrator] John and Jesse

discuss how to get

the rear passenger door

to commit suicide and swing back

instead of forward. - Yeah.

As long as we leave this...

This cross brace in here,

can we use that as a cutting point?

- If that way were, like...

Yeah, if that way opens up.

- [Narrator] Mike takes over

and starts cutting off the center post

with the plasma torch.

His teammates do some cutting

of their own.

- [Randy] Junior likes that plasma torch.

[men laughing]

- He's enjoying that.

- The FNG.

Mike, FNG stands for, new guy.

[men laughing]

- Funny new guy.

- Funny new guy.

FNG, yeah. [men laughing]

[rock music]

- [Narrator] The new guy,

Mike New, has a desk job with the

Chesapeake County Sheriff's Department

in Virginia.

After seeing what he does

in his hand-built stock car,

it's a good thing Mike's

not out on the streets.

- I hit the wall at about...

Probably about 9,500 miles an hour

and broke my leg,

pushed the motor through the floorboard

and got my leg sat there.

And did a pretty good number on it.

- Mike recovered [car crashing]

and made local short track

rookie of the year.

- It's an expensive hobby.

The first year I raced when I won

Rookie of the Year,

we spent $25,000 out of pocket,

just to keep the car up and going.

Yeah. [torch torching]

- [Narrator] The new guy

finishes torching.

The hard work's done.

Now the old guy steps in

for the easy k*ll.

- Have an energy drink.

[metal thudding]

[siren blaring]

- [Narrator] Having a gutted

cop car in the Monster Garage

makes the street toughen, Jesse James,

a little nostalgic.

- I'm getting back in a police car too.

This is the first one

I ever gotten to drive

or ride in the front seat.

First time ever.

[Jesse chuckling]

I like that.

I can see...

I can see better from

the front seat of a cop car.

[man whistling]

- I think I just naturally

get in the back of it.

- Yeah. And riding up front,

my wrists don't hurt as bad

for some reason.

I don't know what it is.

[siren blaring]

- [Narrator] The team takes delivery

on the key ingredients

for their monster,

Belshaw Industry's automated

donut making machines,

courtesy of Dunkin Donuts.

- Freebie. Yeah!

[rock music]

- Freebie, freebie.

Zip, zero, nada.

[rock music]

- [Narrator] This is how you turn

a simple donut into a full core

serving of high technology.

- All right. - The all important

digital controller.

Icing pans,

speed control,

potentiometers,

VFD, variable frequency drive.

[box thudding]

That's our Mark II Gas Donut machine.

- [Narrator] The only thing that cops

on this team know about donuts,

is how to eat them.

Good thing Jay's here.

- We're depending on Jay,

because you know, we have

absolutely no knowledge

of donut equipment.

I mean, we know cars and stuff,

but we've gotta build it around

the donut equipment, so

we've gotta count on him

to tell us that...

Where it has to be

and what it has to do.

[siren blaring]

- [Narrator] The bad boy

with all the bad toys has a bike

for every occasion.

[bike engine roaring]

Jay wants to dry fit

the donut machinery

before they go home.

Randy cuts a plywood deck to support it

and keep it on the level.

[wood thudding]

[rock music]

[machine rattling]

[rock music]

- Whoa there. - Oh, he knows

how I operate.

[machine chunking]

And then go. [machine spinning]

[Randy chuckling] - Check it out.

- There we go.

Our conveyor goes right here.

- [Narrator] Jay's got the skills

to pay the bills.

The donut maker's on him.

- We can go this way a little bit.

[machine screeching] [machine thudding]

- But we can also go back that way

just a hair.

- We can clear that corner.

- That's the part where I got the [indistinct].

- Is that gonna be okay?

- This has gotta be solid

and it's gotta be level.

And it can't be on the wood,

because of...

A 110 volts will make sure

it swings and kilts and...

- [Narrator] The deep frying

donut robot fills up the trunk.

The only spare tire in this car

will be found on the cops.

They move on to the conveyor belt.

[rock music]

- Perfect.

- Clear. Yeah, that should be

just fine right there at the--

- No, we don't wanna go gray.

- [Narrator] The end of day two

finds the team with the makings

for a monster donut maker.

It's always good to see

a plan come together.

- They...

Get as much as we can done.

Same thing with tomorrow

and the next day.

[rock music]

- [Narrator] Who needs a plan?

The team gathers round the crown vic

to talk about all the stuff

they need to do. - Nah, he doesn't know.

- We can start building tomorrow,

the control panel here.

We can start laying out the

length of our conveyor.

I believe the hinge kit

for the suicide of the rear doors

on them has been ordered.

We need a couple of actuators.

- Time. - Yeah.

- So I think we're timed

to knock off for today

and come back tomorrow.

- Sounds good. - And hit it hard tomorrow.

- All right, that's enough fun for today.

Let's get out of here.

[rock music]

[drill drilling]

Americans spend an average

of $5 billion on donuts annually.

[rock music]

- [Narrator] It's day three

and the builders are back.

They start the day with some tunes,

courtesy of the chief.

What's for breakfast?

A cup of Joe and a jelly to go.

- All right, we've got some bad news.

Early this morning actually,

I got a call from Dunkin Donuts.

- They're not gonna bring

any more donuts?

- We don't have a display case.

They don't have one to send.

- Well, let's just make it.

- Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

We get some...

- We can make some aluminum

square tubing and plexiglass.

You know?

- [Narrator] The cop car donut team

has a new case to solve.

The case can wait.

First they need to make

the conveyor track work

in a place where it shouldn't.

- So from there.

- [Narrator] The track will transfer

donuts from the trunk to the front.

An eight foot support chute

will need to be built from scratch.

Mike and Brian grab a four by eight

sheet of stainless

and head to a local steel shop

that can bend and cut

the heavy metal.

[welder welding]

- Those hinges came in,

so I'm gonna do the doors.

- [Narrator] Heavy duty hinges

will convert the stock rear door

into a suicide door.

- I wanted to, like,

Monty Hall it, you know.

[upbeat music] Show them what they've won.

And then the donuts are all right there.

- [Narrator] Why, Jesse?

- Just 'cause it's harder.

You can't do anything the easy way.

[rock music]

- [Narrator] He lights it up

[welder welding]

and puts in the hinges.

[welder welding]

[grinder grinding]

- Hey guys, we got the auto lock

actuators for our suicide doors.

- All right!

- All right!

Let's take a look at these babies.

[rock music]

These mount on the door

and then on the side of the car.

And as they...

As they expand,

they pull the doors out so that

Jesse will be able to work these

right from his driver's seat.

And open the doors right up.

- What'd you do with those instructions?

- What instructions?

- Can I see those? [John chuckling]

These them?

- These them. - That looks pretty

self-explanatory.

- [Narrator] These old dogs

don't need instructions to figure out

newfangled contraptions like actuators.

They come from the classic school

of sixties muscle cars.

- That was when men were men

and hot rods were hot rods.

- We had things that when you

stepped on the gas,

the whole car shook.

[rock music]

- [Narrator] John Pytlovany,

a police chief with the soul

of a hot rodder.

- Well, working on cars

has always been a hobby.

Before I was a police officer,

I worked for 13 years

with Village Auto Service.

And I have a project car

I'm working on myself in my garage,

a 69 Camaro right now.

- [Narrator] John and Randy

partner up to fabricate

a boiler pan reservoir

that will hold hot water.

Icing trays full of glaze

will sit in their boiler pan

and keep the glaze

for their donuts warm

and ready to go.

- Man, just like you knew

what the heck you were doing.

- And that's a real Oklahoma

love of the job.

[metal clunking]

Boy, that's a quality future work.

[John chuckling] - The chief's metalworking

skills are a little rusty.

It's not pretty, but it's watertight.

It should be fine for holding

the icing pans.

- We had the right idea, it's just...

It's not pretty.

And we figured out how to do things

as a teamwork.

See, what if it comes out bad?

I say he did it,

he says I did it.

- He's a chief, he's in charge.

[John chuckling]

- [Narrator] The chief will not

be receiving the Monster Garage

weld of the month award for this baby.

- The award for the most beautiful welds

in Monster Garage,

I knew that wasn't gonna happen.

[rock music]

- [Narrator] Randy is torching

together some brackets

to mount the conveyor sh**t.

[torch torching]

In the spirit of teamwork,

donut dude, Jay,

jumps in to give Randy some pointers

on cleaning up a dirty weld.

- And keep it better. - See how all your welds

are here and not here?

- Yes. - What you need to do is,

is put your...

Angle your tip this way more than...

- Right down on the square chain?

- And come in at an angle

and push your weld along this way.

Let me throw a real quick one on there,

to see how it works.

[rock music]

[welder welding] - The motorcycle cop

is happy to listen.

[John chuckling] - All right.

[men chattering]

- Jay is a better welder than I am,

so [metal clinking]

you listen to the guy who's better.

That's what teamwork's about.

[welder welding]

- [Narrator] In the garage

or on the street,

teamwork is crucial.

- Police officers have to

work as a team.

It does sound cliche-ish, but in...

In many instances,

your life depends on your partner

and his skills and what he does.

And there's been several times

in my career

that I might not be here

if it wasn't for a partner that,

you know, did the right thing.

- [Narrator] The buddy system

is working out on this build.

Mike and Brian are back

from the metal shop

with pieces they'll need

to make their conveyor.

- Whoa!

- $25. [man whistling]

[rock music]

- That's well worth 25 bucks.

- Yeah, [indistinct].

[rock music]

- [Narrator] This build team

has come into the garage

gunning for donuts.

They decide to take

some target practice.

[g*ns firing]

[rock music]

- I got two of them.

Right through the donuts.

[g*ns firing]

- Not bad. [g*n firing]

- Not a bad...

Not a bad group at all.

[g*ns firing]

All in the same spot.

[g*ns firing]

- [Randy] I didn't take all day

like the younger guys did.

Maybe you shouldn't-- - Not bad.

- Just rip them off. - Okay.

[g*ns firing]

- [Narrator] It's home on the range

for the cops.

What about the donut dude?

- The ex-military sn*per.

- Yeah, the ex-military sn*per.

- It's kind of hard to...

- The ringer.

- What? - The ringer.

- The ringer. Yeah.

- Yeah.

- [Narrator] Jesse shows up late,

but he's brought along

some goodies from home,

for his builders to drool over.

- Oh yeah, it is.

- Jesse James, West Coast Choppers.

- The owner of Smith and Western

made it for me custom.

- [Narrator] A custom made

for the boys to play with.

[men chuckling]

- Now, that's a g*n.

Damn, Jesse!

- What? [Jesse chuckling]

- That's a Desert Eagle.

- That's a canon.

[man chuckling] A canon.

- You know you wanna try it.

- Yeah. [men laughing]

[g*n firing]

- Look at that.

- Through the center,

[g*n firing]

[Jesse sighing] - It takes the edge off.

[g*n firing]

[men chuckling] - Yeah! There you go.

[g*n firing] - Back to work.

- Oh!

[speakers drowned out by music]

[man chuckling]

[rock music]

- [Narrator] Back in the garage,

the team picks back up

on their conveyor system.

[metal clinking]

[rock music]

Jesse's suicide door hinges

are almost ready to hang.

[welder welding] [rock music]

Brian lends a hand

and cuts out an aluminum skin

for the interior

of the suicide doors.

- Get this all covered up.

The electric motor's out,

the window's been screwed up,

so that way it won't fall down.

So it's all set.

So we're just putting it up

and make really nice.

[rock music]

- [Narrator] And Mike is giving

a custom finish to another

piece of aluminum

that will be used up front

for the face of the control panel.

- It seems like everybody else

uses diamond plate on the show.

We wanted to go with something

with our own touch.

So we used a wire brush

and polished it up.

- [Narrator] John and Brian

have finished the pin lock trunk lid,

to cover the donut machine's rear end.

- It's gonna be like

a race car trunk lid,

where it's gonna be a lift off

with pins in it.

[Brian whistling]

- Look at that.

[lock clicking] [hand slapping]

[rock music]

- [Narrator] A couple of quick welds

and the bolt on donut conveyor

is ready to deliver.

[rock music]

- Hang on the bottom here.

- [Narrator] Unfortunately, they need

a couple of more pieces

to finish it up and mount it.

[metal clunking] - We still need to get

the bottom piece

that's eight and three quarters

wide for the bottom.

And we still need to get that

stainless steel

all thread and everything.

Hopefully we can get that stuff cut

and get the all thread tomorrow.

- Yeah, we need to get that done.

That's very important.

[broken pieces chunking]

- [Narrator] The cops do

a quick sweep of the garage.

[upbeat music]

- You can tell we're all married,

'cause we're putting everything away.

[broken pieces chunking]

- [Narrator] Jay starts a to-do list

for day four.

- Tomorrow we'll try to work

on the big issues.

Unfortunately, we didn't get the...

The biggest thing we wanted

to get done today was our conveyor.

But we're very close.

On the door actuators,

we could probably start working

on the forward one tomorrow

when Jesse gets the rear door done.

The rear door is gonna be

a lot more complicated,

'cause the actuator's gonna be...

Need to be near the hinge area.

Hopefully we'll go right above

our conveyor here

and we'll avoid it all together.

I think that's it.

- All right.

- [Narrator] It's been a busy day

for the build team,

but making the cruiser make donuts

is a labor of love.

- I want this car.

I'll trade my wife's car

for this one.

- [Narrator] The team has gotten

a lot accomplished,

but not much completed.

Tomorrow, the cops will be looking

to knock out the big ticket items.
