this time on Wheeler Dealers a car
that should be out of our league this isn't
like no ordinary purchase is it it's a
very rare and special car a thoroughbred
Italian icon it's a car that provokes
strong emotions but it's also a motor
that has a set of problems all of its own
does anything actually work the battery
work ah and parts for it don't exactly
fall off the shelf as you can see it's
got some damage there but we broke
it as well getting it off the car I do the
deals on classic motors that need TLC
and provides the mechanical genius and
then we sell them on hopefully
for a profit the Lamborghini Urraco.
designed by Gandini who also penned
the legendary Countach the Urraco was
Lamborghini's junior supercar
answer to the Ferrari Dino with a high
performance two-and-a-half litre v8
engine pumping out 220 brake horsepower
the Urraco makes the dash to 60 miles
an hour in just under 7 seconds and will
reach nearly a hundred and fifty miles
an hour now when it was launched in the
70s they were magic numbers now
it's time to get some of that magic for
myself but with less than 800 ever
made the Urraco is a very rare car and
it's hard to find one for
less than 30,000 pounds.
so I've made my mind up we need to
buy a Lamborghini Urraco and there's a
couple of reasons why number one is
it's a Lamborghini and we've never had
one in the workshop number two
Lamborghini is celebrating their 50th
anniversary and that means prices
are on the up the only problem is
Lamborghini's are usually the rides
of rock stars and I'm not too sure we
can afford one. I've been keeping an
eye out for Urraco for months but good
ones are really expensive and my budget
is just 20 grand I'm gonna have to be
clever and spread my search as wide
as possible. Now the Urraco is such a
rare car I already knew it was going
to be really tough to find one so what
I've done is I put the feelers out with
everyone I know everywhere in the
world and I've been inundated with
one response and it's from a friend of
called Jacek and he's not in the UK
he's miles away he's in Poland now he sent
me a video film of a car that he's
found locked away in a barn somewhere
out there in Poland and he said that
I should watch this film because I've
been very excited. Get this the Urraco
has been on sale at a cheap 25,000
Euros and apparently it was one of
the first 25 off the production line it's
currently in storage and was last driven
six years ago. Bye bye. Now bear in mind I
can't find one for that kind of money
anywhere else in the world I think this
is a big one I think I should book a
flight and get myself to Poland now
this may seem a little bit mad coming
all the way to Poland to come and see
a car I've only seen on video and I
might not be able to drive but then
it's a Lamborghini Urraco you know
they only made 800 of these cars when it
was new and I could only find two
others for sale anywhere else in the
world. I've got a really obscure
address all I've got is Krakow or
something and it just says number
one I haven't even got a postcode or a
street mode. Hold on a minute here
we go this looks more like it this is a
proper village and that does look
like quite a nice wall around a nice
house it's got to be number one.
It is the right place because Jacek and the
reclusive Lambo owner Adam are
waiting for me. Jacek hello how are you
friend good to see you and you yes
this is Adam hello yes Adam nice to
meet you too what a place. I'd like
to see inside wow oh look at this yeah
there's some very interesting
cars here but that's the one that I've
come to see wow you like it do you
know what I'm stunned because I probably
only ever seen one in my life it's a
beautiful car engine is it all good oh.
look at that that's fantastic
yeah it's Italian V8 and that looks
amazing doesn't it and it's a really
good order can we start it up can we
hear it no no why not look at this
timing belt okay let's have a fiddle
it's so risky yeah I mean that timing
belt is loose and with a with a car
like this if one thing is out of place
and not right so you could send a rod
up through the crankcase and you
know we're looking at a very expensive
repair that's a real problem
not being able to start it okay well
let's let's shut that down let me
see if I can get down that side of it
and have a have a look it's a bit
tight in here can we not pull it out I
don't think so it's here from six years
breaks what the brakes are stuck yeah
seriously yeah yeah yeah so I
can't drive it yeah I can't move it yeah
yeah and I can't see down one side
of it stuck up against this wall yeah
please tell me I can have a look
around inside no what just kidding really.
okay oh guys look at this absolutely
amazing inside the suede dashboard the
headlining the seats are amazing tonight
come again yes okay oh it's absolutely.
wonderful in here on that
steering wheel oh that's fantastic.
probably the clutch pedal though what's
up with that it just drops down to the
floor yeah but you've got no leaks
is it got any service history no any
paperwork we've got some paperwork
can I see it can you get it for me yeah.
okay every part of my instinct is
telling me I'm mad I think the best
thing for me to do is to phone the
tall man and seek his advice see what
he thinks I should do all right Ed
how are you good well I'm glad well
I'm here I'm at the car it's
everything that I was expecting it to
be I haven't bought it yet because
there's a couple of little issues that
I've got and that's why I wanted
to talk to you okay well at the first of
which is the clutch pedal it's
non-existent it just drops down to
the floor well I've had a look all
around underneath the back of the car
there's no fluid no nothing and when
I look at the engine the engine looks
in superb condition but I will say
the timing belt just feels really loose
and I've asked if I could start the car
up but the owner recommends that I don't
do it well that's the other thing I
can't move the car at all the brakes
are frozen on okay all right well I'm
gonna take your advice thank you very
much Ed it's always a pleasure now
get back to work all right cheers bye
bye that's exactly the kind of
conversation I was hoping to have with
Ed I'll just wait for them to come back
now with the paperwork that they've got
okay well there is a folder with some
paperwork in that's good everything
seems to be in order there's an
original Italian registration document
and sales invoice for the current
owner and the Italian equivalent of old
mot certificates perhaps things
are looking up well that's all good I
suppose with this car it comes down
to the price 25,000 Euros still hurts
every time you say it it's 21 and a
half thousand pounds that's a lot of
money for a car that doesn't work
can we make the car cheaper no you
wouldn't take 20,000 Euros for it no
sorry this Lamborghini the one thing
I'm very nervous about is that if I
pull this car away from the wall that
there's no damage on the other side
and if you can promise me that there
is no damage okay I guarantee you
do yes okay yes top work thank you very
much Yassik thank you just
bought myself a Lamborghini
Urraco get in in Lamborghini's 50th
year I finally got one but I've spent
more money than ever before on
Wheeler dealers and I can't even start the
engine until I get it back to bed I
won't know whether I've got a winner
or made a terrible mistake I'm in Poland
and in Lamborghini's 50th anniversary
year I bagged an ultra-rare Lamborghini
Urraco for just 21,000 pounds.
yes the trouble is I can't drive
the car in fact I can't even start the
engine and because the brakes are
seized I can't even push it I'm gonna
need some help so I've called an
expert out from the UK who specializes
in shipping racing cars now I
don't know if he'll be out of shift my
Lambo but one thing is for sure it isn't
gonna be cheap Andy how you doing I'm Mike.
there she is very nice like it yeah
good-looking car is it it is the only
problem is is it stuck against that
wall driver no it doesn't drive and we
can't move it because the brakes
are locked on so it's got to be skated to
get it away that's gonna be tight
and interesting skating is lifting the
wheels onto a mobile platform a
bit like the parking controllers use I'm
desperate to pull our Lambo away
from that abrasive looking wall the
pristine original paintwork is now
perilously close to disaster Andy we
pumped it up yeah tipped it towards
wall it's now millimeters away we
can't get the skates under the wheels
that are trapped next to the wall so
we're gonna use wedges notice
slim Jim's to knock under the tires now
it's down to brute force to drag the
Araco out of danger of the car and to
add further complication the Araco
is rear-engined so I'll have to be
completely rotated to put it into
the trailer backwards for even weight
distribution with all four wheels
on skates there's only millimeters to
spare inside the garage so far so good
we can't skate the Lambo all the way in
as the trailer is too narrow so we're
gonna have to use the slim Jim's and
the winch it takes a steady nerve and
some very delicate maneuvering after
several hours the car is finally on
board well it's there perfect that's.
pretty good going isn't it not bad very
good we've managed to get the car from
that corner of the garage all the way
into your container without it turning a
wheel right lovely job very good job
right now we need to get it shut down
and off to the workshop pronto
okay it'll be two days 2,000 miles and a
settlement of a whopping 3,000 pound
bill before the Lamborghini arrives at
our workshop but I can't wait to see
and face when it gets there hey hey it
finally arrived there it is usually it's a
surprise Fred what I'm bringing back
but this time he knew what was
coming I told you isn't it gorgeous this is
it's an actual Lamborghini what he isn't
expecting is the three hours of hassle
it's gonna take to get the Araco into
the workshop go on it oh good decide
good decide come on we're inches away
a little bit more a little bit more yes.
so what you think well look at this I
guess the first thing how much did this
cost 25,000 euro which translates to
about twenty one and a half thousand
pounds and I think it was worth
going for it to my son it really can't see.
Lamborghini so that's cool clearly it
doesn't exactly roll and I'm guessing
we haven't heard it run or anything
either what is wrong with it okay but
the first thing the brakes brakes
are locked on and you said that that's
really important we don't free them
off because you want to get it on the
ramp the second problem is the
clutch doesn't seem to work the pedal just
hits the floor service history no
service history to talk off but then
the big issue with this car has to be
that very precious v8 Italian engine
the timing belt is loose it will need
stripping down putting back on and
fettling so I gather you're gonna
be burning quite a bit of midnight oil
eating lots of Italian pasta get
in this car finished does anything
actually work does the battery work
ah okay well there's no battery on the
car so I couldn't test anything I
don't even know if the electric windows
work because they seem to be dropped
okay it's a gamble but look at it we
finally got a Lamborghini in the
garage and not only that I'm convinced
that we're fettling with your genius
hands we can turn this car into something
to behold and definitely earn
ourselves a profit good luck with it.
this is definitely a moment to savor
we finally have a bull in the China
shop it's an amazing privilege especially
in Lamborghini's 50th anniversary year
to actually have a yuraco to work on
I totally agree with Mike that we just
had to buy this immovable non-runner
but now my challenge starts because as
good as it looks I need to drive this
wonderful supercar and as always there
is loads of work to do engine work is
the biggie on this car and that's going
to be my first job I've got a
non-functioning clutch and freight
timing belts which means that starting
the engine now could end up destroying
it look at that that is a two and
a half litre Lamborghini v8 and it
looks wonderful from the outside but
of course unfortunately we know nothing
about its history before I even dare
to start this thing up I want to know that
everything is right so I'm going to
change the cam belts sort out anything
that's wrong with the ignition in
fact look for anything else that might
need to be refurbished or swapped
before we fire this little chap into
life removing the motor on a
mid-engine Lamborghini is at least a
day's work and getting a specialist to
do it could cost around 2,000 pounds.
I'm going to tackle it myself and
start at the top by stripping the air
filter and electrical connections then
down below I drain the cooling system.
now while I've been under here I think
I may have noticed what is causing our
clutch problem if you look along this
braided hose here you can see there's a
collection of hydraulic for a little
drip at the end there and if I follow
that moisture all the way up the
hose it only seems to go halfway so we
must have a leak for halfway along
so this mirror as I suspected just
about where the hose touches the
chassis when somebody tried to operate
the clutch is actually burst the fluid
is leaked out which is why the clutch
pedal goes all the way to the floor
without actually operating the clutch
itself so whatever happens we're gonna
have to fix that hose and that's a job
that will come when the engine
is out of the car I disconnect the
driveshaft then work to remove the
entire rear subframe which means the
engine and gearbox will exit the car
as one unit as always the engine needs
to be lowered in controlled stages in
case any cables or hoses have been
missed after taking this much care
it would be a real shame to damage
something and there she is that
is fantastic this is the heart of the
beast and well worth the struggle
trying to get it out of the car now
that's the engine side this is
the gearbox I need to sort out the
problem with the clutch now we
already know that this hose has been
leaking you can see the damage a
bit more clearly here but obviously this
is a specialist part it is unique to the
Lamborghini Urraco so obviously it's
gonna be pretty hard to get hold of
one and I bet you it's gonna be expensive
but that's not my problem I'm gonna
give that to Mike to sort out I need
to get it off but as I cut through
the hydraulic pipe with the help of
the saw I can see that something
seems to be missing from the outside of the
clutch sl*ve housing so I dig
inside to see what's going on.
there's a kind of a slot and ordinarily
I would expect some kind of spring
perhaps to be there to reset the
clutch sl*ve every time you actually
operate the pedal so by the looks of
it potentially right down inside the bell
housing may well be a spring
and anyway to find out about that so
actually take the gearbox off the
engine but don't worry it's not such
a crazy thing to have to do
because it's not going to be just for the
spring also it makes sense having
gone to all this length to get the engine
out of the car to actually have a
look at the condition of the clutch so I
need to separate the engine from the
gearbox because of the way I took the
power plant out I now have to strip
away the rear subframe which means
unbolting the exhaust then suspending
the block and removing the subframe
from underneath here we go moment
of truth we now have our gearbox
separated from the engine and
look at that there is a spring that I was
looking for earlier on thankfully it
hasn't fallen out through the hole at
the bottom there but I have to say
it's not looking ideal looks like some
of it's actually corroded and perhaps
snapped off which is obviously why it
let go in the first place I need
to fix that before I do that I think
I'm going to crack on and have a
little look and see the condition of
our clutch this car has done 50,000
miles very low for his age the high
performance cars like this go through
clutches much faster than the average
family hatch okay well I've definitely
seen clutches in better condition
than this there's not many miles
left on this little chap so that's
gonna have to be replaced for sure
and this moisture damage pressure
plate is also too far gone so Mike
really is gonna have to be a bit of a
busy boy either getting these replaced
or refurbished but I will help him out
think I'll fix the spring and asked
me to get a replacement clutch for the
Lambo I thought I'd phone around
and get a cheap deal but although I
managed to get the clutch plate
refurbished for just 37 pounds the
rest had to come new from Lamborghini
at just under two and a half grand.
ouch with that in mind we need to
save every penny we can take for instance
this hydraulic pipe that come off the
car now this one is broken and damaged
and Ed said it needs replacing to buy
a new one of these is over a hundred
pounds so I've come to this firm who
reckon they can build me a new one
for a fraction of the cost hello there
all right are you doing nice to meet
you I'm Mike this is my hydraulic
pipe and as you can see it's got some
damage there but we broke it as well
getting it off the car okay so what can
you do for me yeah we should be
able to help you what we've got to do is
identify the threads the Italians
they tend to use anything they got in
the parts bin but yeah we should
be able to help you perfect okay let's
get on with it excellent all right first
cable manufacturer Matt measures
the thread one end of my cable it's a
metric measurement at 12 millimeters
at the other end it's Imperial UNF
a different size altogether so it's a
parts bin bitser to assemble so we're
going to end up with thread on at the
end of our pipe to replicate that one
yeah that thread on the end of our pipe
to replicate that one and what about
this pipe in itself I mean do you need
to measure that to find out what it
is from years of experience I can look
at that and I know that it is a
certain size so it's going to be this
pipe here as you can see virtually
identical it's gonna look exactly the
same yeah next is measure the pipe
cut it and we're away Matt trust me to cut
the cable to limp even I can manage
that okay so here we have the crimp
machine you better pop the goggles
on okay yep and very simply what this
will do is crush down onto the
ferrule lock it all together lock it all
together we just need to position that
in the right place to get the junctions
onto the hose Matt's hand fits them
then machine crushes the metal into
place is that it what we all done
we're all done that's fantastic so there
is my new bit of clutch pipe for my
Lamborghini Araco yep we just need to
this adapter in the end to replicate
that end and you're away that's
fantastic and how much does all that
come to that might would be 25 pounds
just 25 quid for that work that's
fantastic thank you so much Matthew
it's a pleasure can't wait to get this
back to the workshop the Araco is a
bewitchingly beautiful set of wheels
but it sure needs some TLC we're many
man-hours into the project and it
isn't even running yet but they say if you
can't afford to lose don't gamble
but this car is a gamble I had to take.
this is our Lamborghini Araco would
you have the nerve to buy a fragile
Italian exotic that didn't go and no
history and no clutch no well I did.
so what do you think it's a Lamborghini
and with the engine out of the
Lamborghini it's time Fred to make
sure it's safe enough to actually run.
now while the engine and gearbox are
out of the car would have been crazy not
to spruce them up and they now
look absolutely fantastic on the
outside but the thing is I now need
to do some critical maintenance to
make sure that when we turn it over
for the first time the engine remains
in tip-top condition on the inside
I'm talking about replacing the aged
cam timing belt if it were to snap
while the engine was spinning serious
damage could be done to the inside
of the engine to get to those cam belts I
need to take off these little cover
plates here this pipe and to get all
that off need to remove the air
conditioning pump most air con systems
on cars of this age are removed
because they don't work I'm hoping ours
does so I won't bin it either way
before work starts I've had the system
degassed which is a legal health and
safety requirement so when the engines
running the crankshaft is spinning
around moving the pistons up and down
inside the cylinders but also the
camshafts are spinning around opening
and closing the valves into the
cylinders now there are two types of
engine and interference engine and
a safe engine now in a safe engine the
valves and the pistons will never
actually meet even if everything got
out of sync but interference engine
like this one unfortunately the valves
and the pistons actually kind of
operate in the same space but at
different times so if something was
to happen with the belt and everything
got out of sync then those pistons
would just smash the valves to bits
ended up strapping your engine top
tip before removing any belts make sure
the special markings which identify
the pulley positions are aligned that way
you can be sure all the pulleys
are orientated correctly when the new
belts go on unfortunately the markings
that indicate when the crank is in top
dead center position are on the
flywheel and the inspection window is
cut into the gearbox so that has to
go back in place okay so I can see the
line it lines up perfectly with
the line on the gearbox there's the
letters PMS which is actually Italian
for top dead center which is punto
moto superiority there we go at last
I can back off the pulley that tensions
the belt so it can be prized off
with the cam belt out of the way I can
now check the bearings on these
idler pulleys just gonna spin them up and
listen that's not too bad really that
sounds like a bad roller skate that
needs to be changed definitely last one
here slightly quieter but still needs to
be changed I might as well change all
of them because that way then I know
that all of these bearings are in
perfect condition once unbolted I still
need a puller to remove the pulley
from the engine although most things on
the Araco are difficult to find these
bearings are still a standard size and I
can bag a set for a hundred quid
I use a press to separate the old
bearing from the pulley then I
tidy up the pulley by cleaning off the
surface corrosion with some Emery cloth
and oil finally the press is used again
to push the new bearings into place
so that's it I've now got new bearings
and all three of these little either
pulleys and if I just spin them up you
can hear absolutely nothing because
they're now working perfectly which is
fantastic so now when I put the brand
new belt on we know that all of this
is gonna be working perfectly this is
the kind of TLC a Lamborghini engine
doesn't just need it deserves I add the
new belt rotate the engine a couple of
times and make sure our marks still
line up which they do and before I get
the engine back together I'll perform
a full service including swapping plugs
distributor cap and leads and air
filters and I don't get a break after
all that because a parcel has arrived
from Mike I've got a new clutch cover
clutch bearing and sl*ve cylinder and
a refurbished clutch plate he tells me
the price tally for this lot is a
rather horrific two and a half grand at
least the hydraulic pipe that Mike
commissioned is a more modest 25 pounds.
although it took an age to remove
the engine with everything on the bench
in less than two hours I managed to
reassemble the clutch complete with
replacement spring right so now
everything to do with the clutch is
now sorted so all I've got to do is pop
the gearbox back onto the engine the
engine into the subframe and this hub
frame waned into the car fantastic I'm.
desperately hoping that after all
this work our Lamborghini will start.
if it doesn't it could prove to
be our biggest mistake ever
Mr. Brewer has promised he'll arrive
for the grand ceremony when we'll see
for the first time whether our engine
will actually run we've done a lot of
preparation for this so first of all we
drained out all the old fuel we've put
in loads of new super unleaded then
some lead replacement as well and also
we've changed the oil and the
oil filter so it's ready to go so now
Paul's gonna crank it over just to
build up the oil pressure so this is
the moment Ed when we find out if I
bought us a lemon or actually bought
it's a really decent car this is a
very big moment go for it Paul okay.
it sounds alright when it turns
you got oil pressure cool okay stop it
right okay so we have oil pressure I'm
now gonna connect the coils I'm actually
sweating yeah here we go go on
then Paulie it's not sounding very good
well it's getting them and also all
that fuels go again the carbs there's a
lot of carburetors
to fill up with the fuel
come on it's gonna go
oh almost almost come on.
Wow okay we just got to finish it
off there it is awesome news that the
engine on our Lamborghini actually
runs but we've still got a bit of work
to do if you think about the modern
fuel-injected engine there is a computer
that makes sure that the fuel air
mixture is bang on whereas on our Lambo
we've actually got a set of four twin
choke downdraft Weber carburetors
and setting them all up so they
run beautifully is a bit of an art so
I've decided to enlist the services of a
tuning specialist whose nine-to-five is
looking after Italian supercars for
a well-known collector I just need to
remove the air boxes and expose the
carburetors before we can start right so
I've revealed our carburetors I've
connected our exhaust extraction
system all I need now is a specialist
Tim hello sir very good right we need to
kind of tune these up balance
and whatever what do we do first first
step of any engine tune will be
to set the ignition timing okay to
actually look at what's going on we
need to go from underneath the car a.
modern cars engine control unit is
pre-programmed with a car of this
age the timing or ignition advance
can be adjusted by rotating the distributor
which is checked by using a timing g*n
okay Tim you ready yes thanks so what
have we got now they've got 36
degrees okay so I've got to try and
is that the right way yes that's
the right way okay it's gonna how's
that that's 26 degrees got 26
actually we need 18 so where are we
now we've got 22 degrees edge 22
now just a really gentle where are we now
okay we've got 14 degrees 14
okay so back a little bit there we go so
hopefully how about that that's 18
degrees bang 18 fantastic cool so we're
exactly where we need to be with
our ignition advance so now I can clamp
up the distributor and then we can
crack them with the job in hand which
is actually setting up the carburetors
Tim uses an air meter to compare the
airflow coming into each choke the
balance between the front and rear
banks is adjusted by tweaking the idle
screw which affects the entire bank this
side is this whole side is a little
bit lower it is we need to bring that
side up so we're going to do that by
putting the Mesa on the acting side.
this is the idle screw
okay it's just a little bit
behind the back bank so
we'll just check this out again.
right so we now know that the banks
are pretty much level and that that one
is sucking the most that one's sucking
the least we now need to try and get all
the chokes nice and even so how
do we do that well you can do that by
attacking this lock nut here okay
and removing a lot of the air's bleed
screw until it comes up so it's a bit
like just opening a tap exactly okay.
the amount of suction on each individual
choke is then balanced by adjusting
the air bleed screws getting the
intake of air matched across all eight
cylinders is a painstaking
and time-consuming process
but vital to achieving the
engines best performance.
that sounds better already so what we've
done now is you've got the air sort of
synchronized so we've got the same
amount of vacuum if you like being
pulled by each of the chokes so
what's the next stage the next step
over to tune the idle mixtures
the fuel air ratio for each individual
choke is set by adjusting the idle
mixture screw and that's done by ear
because you can actually hear
when a cylinder isn't firing properly.
a Lamborghini specialist would charge
500 pounds to tune the engine but the
benefits are easily felt
with lower emissions
better fuel economy and
best of all more power.
that sounds awesome I'm happy with
that well fantastic thank you very much
Tim now that might seem a lot more
filling than just plugging a computer
into a modern car but of course
we're tweaking with the very heart of our
Lamborghini and those small fine
adjustments are gonna make a huge
difference on the open road in getting
the Lamborghini to run sweetly we
turn the corner and it's time to ask
whether our outlay so far exceeding
25,000 pounds is gonna deliver a
profit we fought a Lamborghini and no it
hasn't been the regular kind of
purchase thanks to many late nights and
quite a few more pound notes and
settled the engine and transmission fears
with our fab Lamborghini we're on the
home straight now powering towards a
profit but the Lamborghini still
doesn't stop when Mike bought our
Lamborghini its brakes were locked
solid which could easily have been a
major issue but by the time the car
had been transported back here to the
workshop the journey seemed to have
rocked the brakes almost completely
loose now having been neglected for
such a long time can't have done them
any good so it's about time the
brakes receive some love and attention.
the first thing to check is the
integrity of the brake lines themselves.
I'm pleased to report they're in good
health but the brake fluid will need
to be completely drained and replaced
the discs are covered with surface rust
particularly where they've been
fused to the pads and I've got this nifty
brake cleaner which uses a water-based
solvent to get rid of the toxic dust
buildup once the wash is complete
an airline is used to get rid of any
excess moisture my plan is to stick
with the original discs rather than
replace them mainly because you can't
actually buy them anymore now these
brakes aren't in bad condition
now all the dust is out of the way I
can really see what's going on
unfortunately the discs themselves have
a little bit of corrosion just on the
surface that needs to be cleaned up a
little tiny bit of a lip I'll also
do that at the same time the
caliper looks in quite good Nick as
well and the pads look like they've got
quite a bit of meat on them but
I'm just gonna use this clever little
traffic light Gauge to give me a
rough idea of how much material is
actually on them it looks like probably
I'd say maybe seven millimeters of
meat on those pads but of course
they have been standing for a long
time and could have perhaps degraded
slightly so because I can get a whole
set of pads for this car for just
70 pounds it would be crazy not to
replace them overhauling the discs
and pads on a Lambo is the same as on a
regular car I unbolt the caliper and
then gently grind the slight lip down
then Polish the surface with a wire
brush much better and time for a new
set of pads I remove the retaining
pin and apply some copper grease to
prevent squeaking and the new
pads slide into place and the last job is
brake fluid as the system fills up I
purge any trapped air through the bleed
n*pples in each corner after bleeding the
brakes always double-check you've done
up the bleed n*pples otherwise
there's a danger of brake failure.
and once the pedal action hardens
up then I know we're in business now
looking after a Lamborghini is never
gonna be cheap but we've managed to
sort out our brakes for less than
80 pounds so now finally after many
years languishing almost forgotten in
the garage in Poland our raging bull is
now fit and ready to be set
free I couldn't be more excited.
Ed, how you doing?
You alright? I'm very good
sir. Now please tell me
we've got one finished
Lamborghini Arraco because I'm
really excited. Well I'm gonna share in
your excitement this is definitely a
moment our Lamborghini is finished
and ready to go okay it does
need a bit of a clean but we're ready.
fantastic when I bought this car I
always knew it was a bit of a risk but
thanks to your hard work it's turned
out alright isn't it so now I guess you
just want to take it down to a car
park and rag it around not really I
think I can do better than that once
the car is looking Bellissimo I've got
a little treat lined up for us the
Arraco is the most expensive car
we've ever had on-Wheeler dealers
and it's been the biggest gamble too I
couldn't even fire it up when I
bought it and Lambo parts are
incredibly pricey we could have been
on a direct route to bankruptcy but Ed has
really done us proud pulling out all
the stops and getting our Lambo back on
the road without breaking the bank
we got our Lamborghini for 21 grand yes
and with less than 800 Uracos
ever made this slice of 70s exotica is
never gonna be cheaper we found a
car as a non driver languishing in a Polish
barn but now with new timing belts you
can hear absolutely nothing new clutch
everything to do with the clutch is
now sorted a fully tuned up engine that
sounds awesome and refurbished
brakes our Lamborghini Arraco is fighting
fit and ready to hit the road on top
of the purchase price we need to add
3,000 pound for shipping it back
from Poland the clutch was a hefty two
and a half grand and other parts
bring the total spend to just over 27,000
pounds that's steep but I'm
hopeful there's still a profit in this
beautiful car but before I
worry about that too much
we need to take this
beautiful Uraco on a test drive.
Italy the only place to really drive a
Lamborghini well as when I bought
this car I knew it was a huge risk
I couldn't even fire it up let alone
drive it it was rather a crazy gamble I
have to admit so come and put me up
in three what's it drive like what's
it drive like it's kind of you know.
what come on absolutely this is an
awesome awesome car mate it really is yes.
I can't believe it's 40 years old as
a fellow Taurean from the 70s to be
in this kind of condition is awesome
really is oh well I gotta tell you it
that v8 soundtrack unbelievable having
the Lambo in the workshop has been a
dream of mine for years and years
and it hasn't been without its hassles
obviously but it's been
such a pleasure too
because it's an honor
to have it in there.
with a car as exotic as this
you've got to have a little bit of pain
before you get a lot of game we've
certainly got a lot of that because
look what we got we got
a dream car a super car.
you so have and mate
thank you for letting me
out of the box this
test drive is fantastic
it's wonderful Italian
roses amazing Italian
car it is so special
but I get the feeling
we're here for something even more special
yeah I didn't bring you all this way to buy
you a cappuccino I brought you all this
way because there's a very special birthday
in fact it's the 50th
anniversary of Lamborghini
and there's going to
be a parade the big
parade of Lamborghinis
anywhere in the world 350
of them driving through
town and we're going to
take part that is
fantastic I can't think of
anything better let's
go the long way around.
in celebration of
the anniversary 350
Lamborghinis are
braiding on a 750 mile route
around Italy all we
need to do is find them
we know they're traveling
north between Rome
and Bologna so we're
heading south to meet them.
suddenly we're surrounded by Lambos.
believe it or not it's
alleged to be 190 000
brake horsepower here
well I think you'll find
it's 190 220 actually
if you include us that's
very true but the car
is going sweet isn't it
it's going beautifully
and I think this glorious
experience is going to
last far longer than this
parade actually I'm
sure it will whoever buys
this car it's going to
be one lucky person
the parade is heading for park
fermé in the center of Bologna
that's over an hour away and it's starting
to get dark time to put the hammer down.
we've made it and it's
truly spectacular we'll
never see this many
Lambos part together again
in our lifetime it's an
amazing sight but we
mustn't forget what we're
supposed to be doing
making a profit all right mate what
are we going to have to sell this car for
trust me a car like this Lamborghini
Arco is a rare car really yeah there's 350
Lamborghinis here and
I can only find a handful
of these and it's a
thoroughbred car like this
in this condition it's
got to be worth thirty
seven thousand five
hundred quid you know what
I would pay all of that money for this car
and in fact I don't think we should sell it
I think we should keep
this car no we definitely
need to sell the motor
but the good news is
you get to drive it all
the way back home well
thank you sir it's been
a fantastic test drive
cheers mate our Lamborghini Araco is a
truly wonderful car the truth is if I could
keep this one I really
would but that's not the
wheel of deal away so
our Lambo has got to go
now I advertised our car
for thirty seven thousand
five hundred pounds and
the market for these kind
of cars isn't that big but through word of
mouth I've got this guy turned up behind me
and his name's Michael
and judging by the car
he arrived in yes that
McLaren I think he can
afford it so let's see if I can put a deal
together so then Michael you do like this
car don't you I really
like it Mike it's really
really nice it's the
color I'd like really
original which is
important it's obviously
extremely rare car and
it's a Lamborghini what's
there not to like quite
yeah exactly I think we
just need the great price
price wise well I want
thirty seven thousand
five hundred pound for
the car which I think
is really good value for
money pay me the
money and we're all done
okay um I was thinking
slightly less than that
today for cash thirty
three thirty three grand
really not a blooming
chance no not for this car
I have had a couple of bids already for
this car and they've all said the same price
and I'll let it go for that price because
you're standing here you can have it for
thirty five thousand
pound what'd you say five
yep you're done thank
you very much thank you
you just want yourself
a Lamborghini Urraco
really delighted with it
from Poland to the UK
via Italy our Urraco
has taken us on an epic
journey but now it's
time to say goodbye it's
painful but at least
we've made nearly eight
grand profit buying a
super rare super car in
a foreign country that
I couldn't even start
or drive is probably
one of the biggest risks
I've ever taken on
Wheeler dealers but it's
a gavel that paid us
back in space just look
at what we got a
fantastic Urraco if you want
to see more broken
classics being turned around
by me and Ed join us again
soon on Wheeler dealers tala.
