from the Palisades
and Malibu fires is coming here

to our landfill in Calabasas

and we're not prepared
for this toxic waste

is a huge, concerning issue.

So, no one better to talk about it with

...I have seen, and I have figured out

no one's coming to rescue us.

We have to do it ourselves.

I always say, if you want
to get something done, ask a mom.

if we need to get something done
for our kids.

I think the thing moms care about the most

is saving their kids.

Well, they're concerned about their health
and safety, for sure.

I mean, during the '60s and '70s,

this landfill was
a liquid hazardous waste dump.

And they have basins up there

with 500-year liners on them.

Your mayor got a report on this landfill.

So that report tells us
the landfill is leaking.

There's a breach somewhere in the liner.

The fact that there's a leak in the liner

is exactly what all
of the moms were feeling,

and their instincts were telling them
this is not right.

I'm like a, what's the next step?

So I would really like a confirmed answer

about the toxic debris
that they're not testing.

And somebody needs to look at it further

before you continue
to allow the debris in.

All of these chemicals in the debris

are most likely toxic
and should be tested.

[Kim] So, how would you go about that?

[Erin] It is about the power of you,

working with your local government

on issues in your own backyard.

This takes me back to my work in Hinkley.

I had state agencies that got
those first high readings,

but yet they weren't reported.

This has honestly been
the saddest thing in my life.

This is why nobody invites me to parties,

because it's always a bearer of bad news

about what's really going on.

I always feel like I'm saying

a country girl's idea of glam.

We didn't have anything,
and I wasn't a natural beauty

like some of you girls are.

This isn't natural, either.

I wanted to be pretty more than anything.

I got my look, actually,

from the Frederick's of Hollywood catalog

that one of my aunts had
and had to keep under the mattress

like you'd keep a Playboy magazine.

That's why I believe
everybody should dress,

you know, according to how they feel.

Well, that's a beautiful thing
and a beautiful lesson for me.

I adore Dolly for so many reasons,

but my favorite reason
is that Dolly always did

what Dolly wanted to do.

She wanted to look a certain way
and dress a certain way

and wear a certain amount
of makeup and hair.

She never apologized for it

and doesn't make any excuses about it.

I mean, I've been poked and prodded at,

and not all the time have I stuck
to my g*ns and been like,

"Well, I just want to do
what I want to do."

I've had to learn the hard way sometimes.

But for Dolly to always do
what makes her happy

and look the way
that makes her feel happy,

I mean, look where it's led her.

It's led her to a very long,
beautiful, blessed career.

How do you practice self-love

or self-compassion when you're off stage?

Oh, I just, I like myself
better than anybody.

Because I'm comfortable with me.

I'm comfortable with who I am

and with my connection with God.

You know, I'm not one of those people

that has to have somebody
around me all the time.

In fact, I don't like it.

-I'm the same.
-I mean, I have to be out in the public,

but I am such a private person,

and my husband was as well,
and that was the thing with us.

You know, we were so good for each other

-because he's a total loner.
-Mm-hmm.

But we could just be
in the house all day

and say two or three words, didn't matter,

or we could talk all afternoon.

But I really think
there's just certain personalities

that are great for each other,

and we were together 61 years.

But he was a loner.

He did not want a bunch
of people around him.

He never did an interview in his life.

In fact, he'd be out
mowing the yard on the tractor

and the fans would come by
to see our house,

and they'd say,
"Are you Dolly Parton's husband?"

He'd say, "Do I look like
I'd be Dolly Parton's husband?"

And we just got along great.

Dolly's husband passed away
about two months ago.

And I was asked
to not bring up her husband,

and of course I would never.

It's not my place.
I'm very respectful of that.

But when Dolly starts speaking
of her husband,

I am so honored
when people do open up to me,

and this is that moment.

I feel really honored
that she's choosing to share

this story with me.

and I cherish them and hold onto them.

Little things like that,

that I will treasure forever.

but it is the most special story to me.

The grief that you feel
when you lose somebody

is such a big, huge tidal wave,

and some days it's like a splash

and some days it's a tsunami.

But if you just look for the signs,

my friend who just passed away...

Kim called me a few days ago

and said that Jesus came to her in a dream

and said, "Please tell Kylie
that I love her."

Kylie recently lost
one of her closest friends.

He passed away suddenly,

and he does show up
to her in certain ways,

and I think that is so special.

And I think it's so beautiful
when people who've passed on,

they want to reassure you
and tell you that they're okay.

Sometimes I get really jealous
of some of my sisters

because they do have dreams
of my dad and I have not

in years and years and years,
and I'm like, "But I'm open.

I want to receive those messages."

And I just don't get them.

So everyone is different,

but I do think it's a beautiful thing

when the universe gives those to you.
