The average family home
contains thousands of items
we don't really need, and living
in all this clutter
is making us miserable.
But imagine if the entire
contents of your home
were laid out before you.
This is unbelievable.
So you could decide what to keep...
Coffee machine? I'd get rid of you
before I get rid of that.
..and what to lose.
Mummy, let's get rid of these.
No way! No.
I didn't think it would affect
me as much as it is,
trying to go
through our stuff.
I know from experience the joy
that can come
from sorting your life out.
A place dedicated to just
organised snacks.
Are you ready?
And I've assembled a dream team
to help me transform Britain's
most cluttered homes.
Iwan! Why have
I got the short straw?
We'll clean...
It's coming up really nicely.
..organise...
Put the instructions on the back.
..and upcycle
what the families already have.
They'll look beautiful.
Come on! Come on, come on.
Can we completely make
over their homes
without breaking the bank?
No! Ow, my knee!
PARROT SQUAWKS
Ahh!
All in just one week.
Oh, my God.
Wow.
Oh, God! Am I the only one
not crying? Yes!
I smashed it!
I love to declutter and I love
to be organised.
And I absolutely
get so much joy from it.
I'm meeting up with some of the most
organised people I know.
Everyone on our team is obsessed
with organising, tidying,
cleaning, creating spaces.
Hello, sunny Gloucester.
This week I'm meeting the g*ng
in Gloucester,
known for its Gothic cathedral
and delicious cheese.
It's so pretty.
But we're here to help a single
working mum-of-three
sort out her chaotic home.
I'm in the mood
for a mean clean today.
I get so much joy watching
Iwan clean.
Hi! If we walk into
a house and it's too clean... Aw.
...I can see the disappointment
on his face.
I quite like cleaning the toilet.
It's one of those areas that a lot
of people like to avoid, but trust
me, it's one of those areas
that everybody will judge you on.
Of course I'll be first because I
left earliest.
Dilly does not mess around
when it comes to organising.
I like to think of as Sergeant
Sort Your Life Out.
This location is stunning.
Nothing gives me more joy than
just to see that finished room.
That is what I live for.
Ooh! Rob is a genius.
Sometimes I'll think things
up in my head and I'm like,
"Oh, Rob, will you do this?"
And, lo and behold, a couple
of hours later he's made it.
It's so good to be back.
If there's an issue in the home
and it needs a piece of wood to
solve it, I'm your guy.
Oh, I can't wait to see
the team again.
It feels like forever.
Hi, darling! I hate when it's
parking like this,
and I've got to
do in front of you two.
Keep it locked up,
keep it locked up.
Is that your van behind me?
Yeah, yeah. That's mine.
Keep it all locked.
Keep it locked.
Ahh, watch the post!
Stay clear of the post.
You know what, Rob?
I'm not taking your advice.
Do you want me to do it?
Yeah. Right. Forwards all the way.
OK, OK. That's perfect.
Look at that.
I just needed a woman in my life.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Looking glowing. Looking amazing, by
the way. Looking sweaty.
Oh, no, no, no.
All right? Yay!
What have we got to do to get
a coffee around these parts?
I nearly had to milk a cow.
LAUGHTER
So this is Steph's house.
Steph is a teaching assistant.
She's a single mum to three girls.
Woo! All girls in the house.
I love that.
I'm feeling a bit lonely.
Stop it. I'm with you.
And the carpentry, obvs.
Yes.
I actually can't wait to get
in there and see it all
and see what we can do.
The family are out for the day
so that we can have a little snoop
around to find out what's in store.
Let's do this.
In this family home, there are three
bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen
and a living room, all bursting
at the seams with stuff.
Oh, this is spacious.
You know, I'm not going to lie,
from the front of the house,
it's deceiving.
Projector. Interesting.
Is that really just for
the projector?
It must be, you know,
because you have to have a white
background to project it onto.
Unless it's hiding something.
Oh, Christmas cards.
"Just chuck a sheet over them.
Doesn't matter what season it is."
In my head, I'm already
thinking, what is this? Yeah.
Is this the living room?
And then like, just over here,
there's another sofa.
Is that the living room?
Are there two living rooms?
Is it one living room?
Let's have a look in these drawers.
There's toys in the drawers,
so this is obviously a playroom.
But you know how old the
girls are, right?
How old? Five? 11 plus.
Oh, really? Yeah. Well...
So there's some really random toys.
Right, come on.
Ooh. Secret cupboard.
Oh, my God.
It is so important to go
into the home and work out
how we can make the rooms make
more sense, putting it into proper
systems so they're functional
and then helping the family
to continue those systems
when we leave.
Wow, this is like a dream size
kitchen.
But there's clutter everywhere.
It's just every surface is full.
There are so many cupboards,
but how are they all overflowing?
There is more cupboards
in this one room
than I've got across my whole house.
Sometimes people don't realise that
actually having too much storage
can also be a really big issue
because what can end up happening
is you can end up filling the space
just for the sake of it.
Like, there is not a space
left. In just a few hours,
we are going to strip the entire
house and display
all the possessions in a giant
warehouse so the family can decide
what's worth keeping and what can be
recycled, donated or sold for cash.
Oh, wow.
I don't understand how she's even
able to sort out the washing
and the laundry.
Why is there so much nail varnish?
I know there's three girls,
but come on.
Off the kitchen
is the utility room.
Oh, my goodness.
A lot of random junk.
The problem is it only looks like
junk because it's an amalgamation
of 300 different things
in one cupboard.
So this is just for the recycling.
That's empty.
That's empty, that's empty.
Upstairs, Rob and I check
out the bathroom.
Well, some of the bath is missing.
Half of the bath's missing.
This is not enough space
for four women.
It's a beautiful bathroom.
It's nice and light.
It's just full of stuff.
As a mum, to not have a lovely
bathroom to get ready in... Mm.
..is such a shame.
I'd love to do something
like create more storage
for them.
Let's make this a proper
sanctuary for them, please.
Yeah, I'll work the magic.
I'll work the magic.
Trust me, you know how it goes.
So what room is this?
I think this is Mum's room,
because it's the only double bed
in the house.
There's just clothes everywhere.
Oh, she obviously likes bandannas.
Chest of drawers, massive wardrobe.
This furniture is a problem.
First of all, these ceilings
are so tall and everything
at the top.
Look at all that up there.
None of that is utilised.
This would make me feel
really claustrophobic.
It's all right up against you,
isn't it?
You literally get out of bed
and it's there.
We need to make this a sanctuary.
Like a proper bedroom.
Like, a beautiful place
for her to relax in and enjoy.
100%.
Oh, my goodness.
Think Rocky. Think Rocky.
Oh, my God.
God, I think I pulled all my
stomach muscles.
That's harder than it looks.
Yeah, I think it's quite easy. Ready?
Go on, then.
Ooh. That is cheating.
No, no, no.
It's not my fault I'm tall.
It's quite compact in here. Yes.
This looks tidier, though.
Iwan and Rob are taking
a look at Sydnie's room,
the eldest of Steph's girls.
There's definitely some zones
going on and look at the drawers -
they've all been labelled.
Dilly's going to love this.
OK, so we've got
all these textbooks.
I just wonder whether this is
where she's having to do
all of her revision and homework.
And there's not really a desk
space in here.
I feel like we've got a slightly
different personality
going on in this room.
Yes, yes.
And I feel like she's made
this her little escape
from the chaos elsewhere. Yes.
How old are the children
that sleep in here? 11 and 13.
They probably are ready for almost
having their own space, aren't they?
I think they definitely would need
some sort of... Some sort of divide.
..identity. Yeah.
If you're 13, and you're
taking your options, ready for GCSE,
and I don't know how they're able to
even study like this.
Everybody needs their individual
space, but I don't think
that necessarily that means
you have to have your own room.
When I was growing up, me
and my sister and brother all shared
a room, but it was still
individual to us.
Look how many teddies there are.
The best thing you can do is try
and create individual corners.
I do wish I was little again.
I do wish I had some female
company in my house.
This could be me.
Instead, I get skid marks
and Avengers.
There's one more room. The loft.
I'm not going up there.
No way. I'm not going
up there either. Hmm.
BOTH: Iwan!
Go on, Iwan. Why have
I got the short straw?
You're the perfect fit.
Don't worry. I've got you, Iwan.
Oh, wow. Spacy?
Uh... That's one way to describe it.
What's this? Oh, my goodness.
What is that? That's a plaster cast.
There's a plaster cast of one of the
baby's foot.
Who keeps that?
There is a lot to do.
That house, every space is filled.
Including the loft.
Honestly, I've never seen
anything like it.
CHEERING
It's time to meet the family.
I can't believe you're in my house!
How do you feel?
I'm excited and I'm just feeling
sheer terror all at the same time.
Oh, don't feel terror
until we're in the process.
I'm a TA at a primary school.
I work with reception children.
Oh, having a job and running
a home is, yeah, it's tricky.
It won't stay up.
It's just gone off again.
Oh, it's all fun and games
around here.
Steph is a single mum who juggles
working full time
with bringing
up her three daughters.
I think since me and Josh
split up, the house, yes, has
definitely got lower on my
list of priorities.
The girls became the main focus.
Something falls out every
time I open the cupboard.
It's very chaotic sometimes.
There's a lot of arguing,
but it's also quite nice.
Obviously, you have no men.
So you can just, like, be yourself.
Which is probably why I'm so messy.
I wish there was a lot less stuff
in this house,
because there'll be
more room to play.
I would say that I'm the tidiest.
I take pride in being tidy.
I need order for myself
to feel calm.
They just take over everything.
Aeveri's skateboarding
in the front room.
There isn't anything left
just for me.
We pass down a lot of stuff
which we don't need
and then we'll get new clothes
and we don't have enough storage
for all of those things.
And we never get rid
of anything, either.
The most annoying thing
is the charity bags,
because we got
rid of all the clothes.
We put it in charity bags,
but then we never actually
took it to a charity shop.
It's quite annoying because
they just get in the way.
If I don't do it now,
it's only going to get worse.
I think I've kind of developed
this barrier where, you know,
I have to be a strong,
independent woman
and I have to do
it all on my own.
And sometimes you do want
someone to help you,
but because you've built
that up, it's really hard.
I do. I do need some help.
Girls, are yous all right,
are you excited? Yeah!
Yes? We are so excited.
We're so excited.
We've been looking around the house
and trying to think
of the different things we can do.
There is so, so, so much
stuff in the house.
We will definitely need to try
and reduce everything in the house
by at least 50%... Oh, God.
..to get it to a place where you can
really enjoy it.
Yeah. We just need to decide
what definitely needs to be there
and what doesn't.
We need to get completely
unpacked today,
get everything
over to the warehouse.
Shall we get packing up?
Yes. Let's do it!
Come on, then, girls.
The team have just eight
hours to help the Paines
pack up their entire house.
All right.
The best way to pack now
is that we can try
and get it organised.
So when we get to the warehouse
and we unpack,
everything is in some
sort of format.
It's so deep.
It's kind of like you're moving
out,
to then move
just straight back in.
So what do you think works
in this kitchen for you? Ha!
That's a loaded question.
Do you work from here? No.
What's that computer doing?
When she was doing her GCSEs...
The computer is now kind of broken.
It's broken now? Yeah. So that
actually doesn't work?
So you don't need to keep it?
No. OK.
And do you work five days a week?
Yes. Full time? Yeah.
Oh! Yeah, this cupboard, I've fixed,
like, 50 times.
Don't worry, Rob will sort that out.
Every now and again I think, "Right,
I need to do something about this."
Yeah. And then I look at it
and I just think, "I can't." Yeah.
Thanks to you, we get to pack
the tiniest room in the house.
Yeah. Yours is amazing.
Yeah, I can't really deal with it
if it's not tidy.
It just stresses me
out if it's messy.
I'm a lot like you. My partner
could live with mess everywhere.
And he doesn't even see it.
And it actually upsets me to the
point where it makes me feel down.
And that sounds ridiculous.
But I genuinely
get teary about it.
Like, I just feel so overwhelmed
when things are an absolute mess.
Yeah, it just makes me feel
a bit, like, anxious.
I don't know if maybe that's OCD?
But, yeah, so I think if it was
organised,
it would definitely make me just
feel less anxious.
Do you hold on to much?
Um, I think there's some stuff
I've got from, like, primary school
that I've held on to, but I think
that's because primary school
was, like, my favourite school
that I ever went to.
Aw? So... Did you not enjoy
secondary?
No, it wasn't really...for me.
It was a big time in my life because
I was moving to secondary school.
But also because my parents
were getting divorced.
Yeah. So it made me, like,
not enjoy that transition.
And then through secondary school,
in my first secondary school,
I got bullied.
So then that didn't make it a
nice experience. In what way?
Just like... When I first started,
it was just like online stuff.
Then also like at school,
people would be rude to me.
For what reason?
I don't know.
Just mean kids?
Yeah, so I moved school.
But then I struggled to find
friends, at my...
..at the school. That must have been
so difficult. Yeah.
What do you think you're going
to be attached to the most?
Silly things, like these little
Hama bead things that are on here.
Like you want to keep all those?
That the girls made.
And that innocence
of being young.
And I just, I think...
Because of what happened, with...
I've started already.
With Syd getting bullied
and everything and how she had to...
She just kind of grew up
really quick. Yeah.
And lost a bit of her innocence,
I suppose,
and I don't want
that to happen with the others.
Sydnie is like my spirit animal.
I haven't related to anyone
as much as I relate to Sydnie
in a very long time.
You are so well organised.
They're all in, like, year order
of when I got them.
I love you.
While Rob and the removals
team crack on with the packing,
Iwan's getting to
know Laela and Aeveri.
How do you feel
about sharing a room?
I don't really know much different
because I've literally done
it my whole life.
Sydnie stole my room. Ohh!
And me and Aeveri have shared
ever since then.
I'm with you. So I'm the only
one who's had to share
a room their whole life.
Sydnie and Aeveri.
I'm a middle child, too.
I get where you're coming from.
It's starting to overwhelm me
a lot now. Is it?
I think it's the fact that now
I'm older and I want to invite
friends over and not be embarrassed
by how untidy my room is.
Yeah. That is making me
want to change it.
OK, got you.
Feel like I've packed a million
boxes.
Right, we've got about
ten minutes left
to get the rest of
these cupboards done.
Let me tell you the most crazy thing
about the size of that kitchen.
Not only is the kitchen huge.
There's probably 20 cupboards.
One cupboard is food.
Oh, there's a load of bag
of pennies in here.
There's pens, there's crayons.
There's photographs,
there's ornaments.
Which drawing are we going to keep?
Because some of these are
really young, aren't they? Yeah.
And baby stuff. Whose are these?
These are quite small.
I wore this, like, every day when it
fit me. Bit dusty, guys. Yeah.
The kids are 11.
The youngest child is 11.
Looks like Stacey when she gets
stressed.
What are we going to do
with your seven days?
Dun-dun-DUN!
OK, we're actually pretty
bad at this. I agree.
A whole day packing is very tiring.
So I would recommend
not doing it.
The house is almost packed up,
including the loft that was full
to the rafters with memories of life
before the kids' dad left
seven years ago.
In the loft, there were
still some things
that were pre-divorce up there.
There's wedding photos that I don't
really know what to do with those.
But you know when you think,
"I don't want to get rid of them
"because that was my life
and that was..." You know?
But what do you do with them?
But yet I don't want to hold
on to them. Yeah.
It's a real difficult one to know
what the right thing is to do
with those sorts of things.
Traffic jam. Urgh, something's
leaking in here.
I adore these women.
You can feel the love of each
and every single one of them.
Oh, my gosh.
They clearly have enjoyment
from each other,
which is like the best gift ever.
Oh, my gosh.
I just want to transform the whole
house and give them real purpose.
Oh, my gosh.
Look at all the room in here.
Could do like a full-on gymnastics
routine in this.
Our house really needs to
be hoovered.
Wow. Now that all the hard bit
is done, it'll be...
Are you sure this is the hard bit?
It's the big weekend ahead.
Every single one of the family's
possessions has been removed
from the house and displayed
in a 9,000 square foot warehouse.
I'm getting a bit nervous now.
What about you?
I'm a bit nervous, actually.
Deep breaths.
Now they must decide what to keep
and what to let go,
so we can then begin
to reorganise their home.
I brought you an umbrella.
I didn't bring the weather with me
today, I'm sorry.
Thank you.
How are you feeling?
A little bit like...you know?
Aw! Don't. It's scary?
But I'm excited.
Are you ready? Yeah, yeah.
Shall we go in and have a look?
Come on then. Let's go.
I'm shaking.
This has not all just come out
of my house.
Hundreds of boxes have been packed
and laid out in sections
so that the Paine family
can clearly see how much
of everything they have.
We counted 111 bottles of nail
polish,
80 packets
of out-of-date medicine,
203 hair accessories,
and over 1,000 books,
300 of which were for preschool age.
Welcome to your home.
Oh, wow. How did this fit in my
house? I don't know. I know!
There's a lot of stuff that I've
never, ever seen before.
Should we go and have a closer look?
Yeah.
My gosh. Look at all of this.
What are you thinking?
How are you feeling?
Just overwhelmed.
Why have we got so much deodorant?
This is a massive job, isn't it?
There's three childhoods, pretty
much, that have accumulated here.
Do you think you'll be able
to let go of 50%?
I don't know. Yeah, I think, looking
at it, the majority, you think...
Yeah, we can't possibly
need all this stuff in our house.
We just can't.
But the reality of actually
going through stuff
and saying goodbye,
then we'll see.
Where we might start
is toiletries. OK.
It's not too emotional
because hopefully none
of you are too attached
to the bath bombs. No!
We've got this. Strong women
in the warehouse. Yeah.
The family's possessions
have been divided into zones
so they can see how many
repeat items they have.
Making it easier to decide
what to keep and what to donate,
recycle or sell.
Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh, why have
we got so many books?
There's kitchen, electricals,
clothes, toys and books,
memories and toiletries.
Oh, my gosh, look at all
those perfumes.
So many perfumes, it's like
going to the shop.
This will be easy for me, this bit,
because I don't really bother
with all this stuff.
I just don't really have time.
I know exactly what you mean.
Being four women in
a house is hard work.
These feel quite empty.
Whose are these ones?
They're, like, all of ours.
The morning's really chaotic,
with everyone wanting to get
in the bathroom and use the same
thing that someone else is using.
OK, empty.
Yeah, yeah.
It's just a bit of a crazy,
chaotic muddle.
That's nappy cream.
I don't think we need that.
No. Anyone still in nappies?
I might need it again, though.
Come back in ten years. There you
go! With the grandkids.
I'm thinking more of myself!
Hurry up! We've got so much to do.
I think if it's been opened
but it's barely used,
I'd give it to a friend or
family member.
If it's been closed, you could go
into, like, loads of high street
stores and they have donation boxes.
Do we need this? No.
Right. Masks, Sydnie.
Is there anything you could give
up here?
I do make-up artistry at college.
These are all just the same, Sydnie.
You don't need, like, five of the
same mask.
I think that you can
just, like, express
who you are through make-up.
Especially, like, the creative side.
I don't think they're going
to cure anyone's bags,
if I'm completely
honest with you.
Oh, my giddy aunt!
That was so loud!
Bye-bye, empty bottles! Yay!
None of that needs to come home.
No.
And now look at your bathroom area.
Wow.
We seriously didn't need all that,
did we? That was just ridiculous.
Let's go! Yes, Aeveri,
that's the spirit!
Back at the house and the g*ng have
got a blank canvas to work with.
This is so much bigger
than I thought.
500 times bigger.
Look at all these hooks. Exactly.
We've got shelves in here.
We can utilise what we've got.
Let's keep this as a really lovely
storage cupboard.
It just needs a lick of paint.
You just need to give it a bit
of a clean, look at those cobwebs.
I'll leave you in here.
It's filthy. Bye, Iwan.
We have got a house with four
ladies in it.
That's a lot of products
and there's a lot of people.
So my idea is to put the storage
closer to the ground. Where?
Under the bath.
But there's no space under the bath.
This is where you are wrong.
By utilising that space
from the edge of the bath
to the actual bowl of
the bath itself,
you can get a lot of bits
and pieces in here.
This here would be a beautiful way
of transforming the bath, changing
the look of the bath and giving them
storage
without taking away
from the room at all.
Genius.
Oh, look at Auntie Kerry!
Oh, my gosh.
Back in the days when it was
fashionable. Where is Aeveri?
She's in the tent over there!
You're not going
to let me in?
You won't fit in.
OK. Antisocial.
Oh, YOU can't say much, Laela.
It has been quite a successful
morning, a good start.
We don't need a map
of the British Museum, do we?
No. There was a lot
of easy stuff to let go of.
We can donate them.
What, both of them? Yeah.
Do you still use them?
Not really. OK.
Aeveri is the most cut-throat.
And, done.
She has nothing of significant
emotional value in the house.
She's kind of like,
"Yeah, get rid of that, doesn't fit.
"See you later." You didn't even
look at what this one is.
Oh, The Snowman And The Snow Dog.
Keep that.
That one - keep.
Sydnie is the most organised,
absolutely, in the house.
But what I've noticed is she's also
probably the biggest hoarder.
An Angel Came To...
Oh, I love this one.
I think I've still got every book
I've ever been given.
So, next area is...
..shoes! Cos they take up
half the world!
The family have 260 pairs of shoes
between them.
That is basically your stuff, Mummy.
70% of them are Steph's.
Those ones, didn't you say
you find uncomfortable?
No, that's just weird.
These ones? They can go as well.
Yeah, they can go. I feel like the
girls are making decisions for you.
I think they will tell you
that they're ready to go.
Please! Let me go!
Mummy, let's get rid of these ones,
yeah? No!
When I finally took on the mortgage
myself, this was my present
to myself to say, "Well done, me."
So. Yeah, well done, you.
Me and Josh bought this house
when we came back from Australia.
Syd was just two, I think,
and then when we got divorced,
the deal was that if I took on the
debt, I could have the house.
So that was what I did, and I've
finally paid that all off now,
and now the house is all mine,
which is really exciting and it felt
really empowering when I finally,
yeah, the mortgage was
just in my name and it was all mine.
I just, yeah,
I felt like I'd made it.
Look at all those shoes!
THEY CHUCKLE
I feel like that must have been
more than 50%.
Glad to see the Christmas cards
gone. Yeah, me too!
Back at the house, Iwan and Dilly
discuss decor...
That would be a good projector wall,
wouldn't it? Yeah.
..while Rob gets on
with the bespoke bath cupboards.
We've got one, two, three, four
storage compartments in total
whereas, before, they had none.
Wish me luck, people, here goes.
Ohhh, and look at that!
Let's hope the rest of them go in
exactly the same.
Right, let's sort out this
monstrosity.
I don't want this going down the
sink - that would cause a blockage.
Yuck.
I am going to boil the kettle
and I'm going to use
one of their dishwasher tablets.
And we're going to leave that
to work its magic.
After a successful first morning
at the warehouse, the family
is starting to sift through
the more sentimental items.
These are my old ballet socks.
Are you holding on to memories...
Yeah. ..of a sock? Of a sock!
Sydnie...!
I might just try and stop you
before it's too late.
I think we can let go
of the ballet socks. Yeah.
This is the hardest part
of the day.
Every time that Steph has struggled
to let something go, and Sydnie,
it's all been from before
the divorce because obviously,
like any relationship, they were
so happy at some point.
Oh, God...
It's been several years since Steph
last looked at her wedding memories
that up until now have been hidden
away in the loft.
Are you OK?
Yeah.
I didn't even realise
that I had all this stuff.
The girls might like that cos
it's got lots of pictures of him.
And it's funny cos, now,
you know, things are much better
since he's with somebody else.
And I'm glad about that
because I don't want that.
But then when I look back at...
..the pictures, that's what
he was like when we were together.
Yeah.
Yeah, so I kind of feel like...
Yeah.
You just think, I don't...
..I don't really want to get rid
of them, but what do you do?
But I don't really want to... No.
..keep looking at them, either.
Maybe we can make a little section
in the loft somewhere.
Yeah. For the important stuff
that you think the girls
will want to revisit.
And once you've decided
what you definitely want to keep,
maybe we'll get the girls in...
Yeah.
..and see if they want those things
too. Yeah.
You know? "Stephanie and Joshua
wish
"their guests health, wealth..."
It's Mummy's wedding stuff.
"..happiness, fertility
and longevity."
To be able to save up really painful
memories for her, that actually
could potentially be massive chunks
of her children's answers
to their questions,
is a really selfless thing to do.
SYDNIE SNIFFLES
If you think you want them,
you don't have to...
Just pop them
in a box somewhere and then
at another time, we can go
through them, can't we? Hmm?
I almost get really sad
because my mum is like...
..and I'm a lot like my mum.
When my mum and dad got divorced,
my mum let go of everything.
I've never seen my mum's wedding
dress, her wedding album.
That's the night
before we got married.
I definitely had, like, almost
a jealousy of watching the girls see
all their parents' photos and stuff,
and also just the love letters.
Her children will read those
and know how in love
their mum and dad were.
I'm so emotional. You know what it
is? I really love them as people
as well. They're, like,
the most gorgeous family.
And you can see that Steph has
just devoted her life
to these kids,
and they're just so lovely.
And, yeah, the whole thing is just,
this whole day has just got me.
I just think they're
such a lovely family, aren't they?
If it wasn't for that,
I wouldn't have you
three amazing girls, would we?
There we go.
Right? You did good.
What will you do about your dress?
Um, do you want to keep it or...?
I want to. When you get married...
If I get married.
I don't know if it will fit me.
I guess we could...
I think it's OK to keep that.
..keep it. Yeah.
I cannot believe how much we have
got through in the first day.
Well done, team.
Yeah!
Oh, I love this family so much!
Group hug. You should be so proud
of yourselves.
But we'll turn around
and take in what's there.
There is obviously still
so much to get through.
Yeah. So when Dilly comes in
on day two, you're in trouble!
Oh, no, out-of-date medicines
can't go in here, lovely.
That's gross.
Good morning!
Good morning!
How are we? We're OK.
We need to reduce the stuff that no
longer serves them, that no longer
fits them, that they no longer
play with, and release them
of the past that they seem
to have been holding on to
so that they can start
this new beginning.
Is that all the clothes?
Yes.
SHE SIGHS
Shall we start there?
So, we have six rails, seven tables.
Oh, my gosh.
Your job now is to shop
within your clothes.
OK. You're going to pick out
what you love, what you need
and what you wear all the time.
So, if it doesn't make you feel
good, if it doesn't fit you,
it stays on the rail.
We're going to create a beautiful
capsule wardrobe. OK?
OK. Ready?
Yeah. Let's do this.
Right, Laela's rail is here.
Those are the only things we want
to keep. You're keeping that, OK.
That's fine.
And we don't need any of that.
None of that. That's all going?
Yeah. Great!
Mum, how are you getting on?
So this is...this is mine.
Aeveri, do you think you're being
a bit TOO ruthless or do you think
you're enjoying this process?
Yeah, because I always get
frustrated cos there's
a load of stuff in my wardrobe
and I can't actually find
what I actually wear.
This is going to make it much easier
for you
just to be able to see
what you've got.
Yeah. I'm actually really surprised
at how well they're doing.
Aeveri is brutal!
I love her.
She's just like, "No, no, no, no."
And actually, if you look at the
three rails that they've all got,
they haven't kept much at all.
We've more than halved all of it.
Yeah.
So that is incredible.
Less stuff, less washing,
less ironing, less to do. Yeah.
Back at the house, Rob is working
on a design that will make the most
out of the space
in the living room...
By making alterations to this unit
and then adding units into the two
alcove spaces, that will result
in us unifying the two spaces
together.
..and Iwan's got a bizarre
but time-saving way
to make things sparkle.
Pop this into a plastic bag,
add a little splash of the cola
until it is completely submerged...
And the cola is acidic,
so that is going to get to work
on all of that limescale.
Then all you need to do is leave
that for a few hours
to work its magic.
That seems like a lot of...
SHE LAUGHS
..electrical items for a house that
doesn't really use a lot of them.
While Steph and Sydnie tackle
the electronics...
This is broken, Syd,
put that over there.
..Laela and Aeveri sift through
childhood memories.
What is that?
That's just a random square.
Because they're part of my
childhood, letting go
is kind of sad, but it's nice
to feel grown up.
To grow up, you have to let go of
things from your past.
Cos if you're hanging on
to things when you were a child,
you're still...kind of a child,
I guess.
At least, that's what I think.
Once I've seen our house tidy,
it will definitely help my mum.
So when she's not so stressed, that
stops Sydnie from being stressed,
which stops me from being stressed.
We only have an hour to crack
this last section,
so we have to be speedy
as we go through it.
Ready? Yes. Let's go!
It is the final push for the Paine
family to let go
of as much clutter as they can.
I want you to pick out the toys
that you want to keep.
We've got to give it one last push.
But remember our ages?
I feel like I'm on
Supermarket Sweep!
What we have to remember is,
when we go back to the house,
this is a new chapter.
All the dolls, they can all be
donated? Yep.
Is this...?
That could... Charity.
Oh, my God.
Five minutes.
PLAYS TUNELESSLY
That's all the toys done.
Aeveri's rapid.
A week ago, the family were drowning
in clutter.
But after two cathartic days
in the warehouse, they've let go
of more than half
of their possessions.
Look at this pile!
I can't even put into words
what this is going to mean for you.
How are you feeling? Exhausted.
But, yeah, that is amazing.
That is a huge amount of stuff.
Yeah, I can just see it's going
to be a lot calmer.
Well done, g*ng. I'm jumping in!
Well done, jump in!
This is actually comfy.
I'm actually almost falling asleep.
It is 8am. All of the family's kept
possessions
are back from the warehouse,
and we have got just one day
before the Paine family come back
and see what we've done.
Dilly! Are you there? Coming!
How lovely does the house look?
Amazing already.
But they did so well
in the warehouse.
I feel like now
there's a huge pressure on us.
They need to come in and go, "Wow!"
Let's do this! Let's go, team!
Let's go.
I am folding all Steph's vests,
and I'm file folding them into
one of our organisers.
I've labelled it - vests.
Always think
about folding into a square.
By doing it this way, you can fit
one, two, three, four, five, six
T-shirts into this tiny little box.
Gone are the days of wearing
something like that.
And now we can just slide these into
our drawer.
Let's see how the cola has worked on
the shower head.
It's the moment of truth.
OK, so we'll give that
a quick rinse.
There we go. So all of the cola
has removed the limescale.
This big unit you see me working
on here is one of our alcove units
that is inside the living room.
This particular one here is the one
that's going to house the
television.
So we've got our two shelves at the
top here
and then our TV will be in the base
here on a nice long arm
so you can actually pull it out of
the unit,
turn it so everybody can see.
Spot on.
Before, Steph had, like, an old
shower curtain here.
And so we've bought this shower
screen and it was 50 quid.
But electric tape is the best
invention ever
because there's so many posh shower
screens out there now
with, like, black edging,
and you can create that yourself
with electric tape. It's about £1.
Doing a border, two lines
horizontally, two lines vertically.
And hopefully it will look like
a nice posh shower screen.
Here it is.
Rob reduced the size of Steph's bed
to make more space in her room
and is putting the leftover wood
to good use.
I'm going to take this piece of
timber
to then make our units inside look
even better.
Moths like dark places with natural
fabrics,
so linen cupboards are literally
like a buffet for them.
Bay leaves are a natural deterrent.
So I'm going to pop a few of these
in here to keep the moths at bay.
I've cut down these 12 more strips,
which gives a nice finish,
the thickness then adds support
to the shelves,
to stop it from bowing over time.
Lovely little tip for when you are
trying to organise your bedding.
We're going to store every
set within a pillowcase.
When Dilly's in the zone,
you won't hear from her.
And then it's easy to grab and then
you know that the bed is ready to
make.
She just gets on with putting things
exactly where they belong.
And there we have it, a lovely
little pillow parcel.
So just straight cuts?
It's a compound.
Rob's always got the hardest job.
Carpentry obviously isn't quick.
But he's making good progress.
He's just not finished anywhere.
Oh, that was a bit off centre, that.
You don't have the carpenter's eye,
love!
You don't have the carpenter's eye!
I've just got normal eyes, so I can
see. Yeah, yeah.
You're right on the line.
I'm chucking a sofa cover over this
sofa because, like me,
Steph clearly thought it was a good
idea to buy a beige sofa
with three kids!
You basically just throw them on,
tuck them in
and it looks like a brand-new sofa.
Steph's wardrobe's split in half,
which means we don't have any long
hanging.
We take our long dress and we put
this into here.
And there...
..we have your dress, beautifully
hung still, but much shorter.
There's nothing worse than a fitted
sheet on a bed and a sofa.
HE LAUGHS
I don't know what you're laughing
at.
You've been doing them shelves
for three days.
Come on.
I think we may be upside down.
No?
For God sakes, Rob, you were
right there.
The piles of items at the warehouse
that the family decided to let go of
are taken to be recycled, donated
and sold at their local car-boot
sale.
So 300 quid for the models?
Yes, done.
Well, I'm happy to sell those at
£1 each.
£136.50.
Yay! Well done, girls!
You always just think nobody's going
to want your stuff,
but I think it's true, isn't it?
One man's trash is another
man's treasure!
These are bathroom but if I just
move a little bit of it...
ROB SAWS
All right, Rob! Can't hear myself
breathe in here.
We've got so much left to do.
And now I'm not going to answer
any more questions
cos you're holding me up and I will
not get it done
and it'll be all your fault.
Lovely. We've got, like, a proper
lounge.
Yeah.
Got to keep the optimism up,
energy high.
That's the only way you're going
to get across the line.
There's a lot to do still up here.
Right, I'm coming up.
These are all memory cards.
So why don't we put Steph
and wedding over here?
The key to a neat aesthetic
in the loft is to have everything
in clear boxes, all identical,
so it's easy to see everything.
This drawer, I am going to drill
some holes in the bottom,
put casters in the corners,
so we can make, like, sliding drawers
for underneath Sydnie's bed.
And that should do it.
Woo!
Under-bed storage!
Now, often with ovens, there will be
a little trick
where you can actually remove
the glass.
So the glass is often tricky
to clean
cos you can't get to all the parts
of it.
You can actually lift this entire
panel out,
which makes it so much easier
to clean.
So I'm going to use a dishwasher
tablet and use this as an eraser.
All right, where's what going?
I'll get involved.
Bathroom, bathroom.
You've interrupted me, so... Take
them to your bathroom. ..I might as
well.
We've got so much to do still.
I feel like everything was calm,
all under control.
It's gone too far the other way now.
What about all her hair stuff? This
shouldn't be in here, should it?
No, that should be upstairs.
We have got one hour left.
We bought these secret book
shelves.
Two holes, just put some wall plugs
in there.
And now I'm going to screw this into
the wall.
This is called a peg wall.
Sydnie loves her make-up,
so we have created this lovely
little wall for her with
all her favourite make-up.
This is a make-up organizer's
dream.
I mean, who would not want this in
their bedroom?
You fold the rest of the book on
top...
..and that's the shelf.
Car wax is brilliant because
the next time you use the shower,
your mirror won't steam up.
We have got half an hour.
We've actually got to sort all the
GCSE stuff out.
The stationery, the wardrobe,
pictures, frames, mirrors.
Let's do this, guys. Let's do this.
They've faced everything
that was in that loft,
and I just think it's one
of the most liberating feelings
is letting go of the things that
actually make you really anxious.
Positive energy.
Always.
Yeah, it does feel a bit hectic now.
I don't even know what I'm doing.
Oh, that's what you call
a perfect fit, that is.
Do you know where these pictures
and stuff is going?
The last label. This is it.
THEY CHEER
Yes!
Come on. Come on, come on,
come on.
Yes, guys!
We've only gone and done it. Woo!
Oh, got excited there.
I cannot wait for tomorrow cos I
really can't wait
to see their reactions,
but I also think it'll be,
it will be an emotional day.
A week ago, the Paine family home
was in complete chaos.
Ram-packed with clutter, it left
them feeling disorganised,
anxious and out of control.
Yay!
Now, it's time for them to find out
if bringing us in to help
was really worth it.
Oh, it's so nice to see you.
Are you excited?
ALL: Yes. Are you nervous? Yes.
Oh, me too!
So this is probably the most nervous
I've ever been.
Really? Yeah. Cos we love you so
much, we just want you to love it.
You did so well at the warehouse,
we felt a massive pressure
to actually make this even better.
But it's all done.
Do you want to see it? Yes.
Let's do it. Let's go.
Oh, my gosh.
OK, welcome to your lounge.
THEY GASP
Oh, my God!
Oh, my God!
Oh, my gosh!
It looks like a proper house,
like a grown-up house.
Oh, my God!
Before it was kind of like one big
room.
We thought we'd split it into two.
The sofas were rearranged to create
a chill-out space
for watching movies and TV.
Look at all the pictures, Aeveri!
It's your favourite artwork.
Look, all the artwork.
They look so awesome!
Oh, my God.
That is just... Oh, my gosh.
I know how special movie nights
in this house are.
You had, like, a blanket up
for the projector screen. Yeah.
So... Oh, my God!
We've attached a projector screen
to the window frame,
instead of an old duvet cover
to the wall.
That is amazing!
Oh, gosh.
Am I the only one not crying?
Yes, you are!
Because you did so well at the
warehouse,
we were able to actually organise
this in here.
So now...
..it's a whole cupboard.
Oh, my God!
Hats, scarves, trainers.
Thank you so much. It's just
amazing.
We're only one room through!
We've got loads more to show you.
Welcome to your new kitchen.
Oh, my God, look at it.
It looks so massive.
Dilly's been hard at work
reorganising and labelling
this once chaotic kitchen.
I can't believe that's the same
cupboard. Look at it.
It's going to be so much easier
to find stuff now.
I just don't know what else to say
other than wow.
Oh, I love it.
I can't wait to sit down and eat
at the table. Aw!
You can actually walk all the way
through your utility
and dance if you want to.
Oh, look at this.
Now it's a place where Steph can do
her washing and drying with ease.
We noticed that you were drying
clothes, like, everywhere. Yeah.
So we put these in.
Drying racks. They are awesome.
And then they don't have to be just
hanging around all the time.
Exactly.
We can fold it up. I'm going to be
excited about doing my washing!
Aeveri's like, "Where's my room?
Where's my room? Where's my room?"
I can see it!
LAUGHTER
Shall we go upstairs?
Yeah. Yeah. Come on, then.
Here we go.
We'll go into Laela and Aeveri's
room first.
Oh, my God.
THEY LAUGH EXCITEDLY
Oh, my God!
This can't be the same room!
This cannot be the same room.
Is this possible?
Are you all right, Laela?
Oh, it's so good. Look at it!
I love it. What do you think,
Aeveri?
I think she's speechless!
You're speechless, aren't you?
We've given Laela and Aeveri
their own spaces
with their own identity.
Look at that, Aeveri, with
all your comics.
Oh, it's so good.
We upcycled and organised Laela's
desk,
which a week ago was full of
clutter.
By adding some labelled boxes,
she now has a lot more storage
for all of her GCSE textbooks and
stationery.
Just an actual space for you to be
able to enjoy, all to yourself.
We found Laela's bed on a website
that gives away recycled stuff
for free,
and we upcycled it by spray painting
it rose gold.
We also did the same with Aeveri's.
And we know you love navy,
so we made it all navy blue.
I love that.
You can sit here and just read
your magazines.
Oh, this is amazing.
Oh, it's so nice to see them
with, like, a proper room.
They've got their own sort of
ownership on it. Exactly.
Cos it's never really felt like
that.
Step inside your bathroom.
Oh, my God!
Wow! Oh, my gosh.
To make that shower screen.
Look at that. How cool is that?
It's just so stylish.
I feel like I'm in, like, a hotel!
This once tired and cramped bathroom
has now been transformed
just by painting, creating
and fixing items.
Little secret... They're so
clever, aren't they?
They're bedside cabinets but
I painted them
and they'll be nice under the sink.
I love this round the bath as well.
That is courtesy of Rob.
Aeveri, do you want to just push one
of those panels on the bath?
Oh, my God.
Rob has created some ingenious
bathroom storage.
Oh, that is so clever.
Now they each have their own little
under-the-bath cupboard.
Eyy.
And that is yours.
We have literally got no excuse now,
have we?
I love it. Love it. Love it.
Love it.
OK. Sydnie, are you ready to see
your room?
Yeah.
Welcome to your room, Sydnie.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, wow. Oh, wow, Sydnie!
Oh!
It's amazing. I love your drawers,
look at them.
Aww!
It is amazing.
You've got a wardrobe!
Look at that.
This was in Mummy's room.
And she had loads, so we were like,
"Let's give one of those to Sydnie."
So all your stuff's in here now.
Everything's organised,
so you don't have to have it
on a rail.
It's in an actual wardrobe.
I love this.
This is amazing. Yeah.
Look at that.
We bought the pegboard and painted
it white and yellow
to match the wardrobe.
A mirror.
It's got a little light on it.
Great for selfies.
We just wanted you to have a proper
make-up station.
What do you think?
SYDNIE SPEAKS INDISTINCTLY
Do you love it? Yeah.
There was a wardrobe unit
in the house.
It had some decent drawers in it.
So what we did was put some wheels
on the drawers...
Oh, what a good idea.
..and now you've got storage for
under the bed.
So cool!
Organisation heaven. Look at this.
Oh, my gosh!
Oh, look at those.
Wow.
So, marks out of ten, what do you
reckon?
A thousand out of ten!
STACEY LAUGHS
There's only one room left, Mum.
Come in to...
..your bedroom.
SHE GASPS
Wow.
This is your room.
Oh, my God.
I love it so much.
Oh, my gosh.
Wow.
Seven days ago, Steph's bedroom
was bursting at the seams
with clothes, shoes, clutter
and oversized furniture.
So we actually shortened the bed
slightly... Yeah.
..because it was protruding out and
meant you couldn't open the...
It took up so much room.
It did, and you had this unit.
This is some of the girls' artwork,
your favourite posters. I love that.
And these were in front of
that chimney breast. Yeah.
So you just, you couldn't move in
here. No, you couldn't.
I had to go like this to get into
bed. Yeah.
All of your shoes. I love that.
And I can actually look at them
and enjoy them as well.
You can wear them all cos you know
what you've got. Yeah.
Oh, I just can't believe
how lucky I am right now.
You deserve it, you're not lucky.
You totally deserve it.
This is a whole new chapter
for the family. It's a fresh start.
And you can tell they're going
to keep it up.
I just know it's going to make such
a massive impact on their lives,
and I honestly,
I can't stop smiling.
Oh, my God.
I'm getting in with you!
I'm coming as well!
Oh, thank you so much, everybody.
I just would never have thought
you could do this to our house.
And there's one more surprise
waiting downstairs.
Let's have a tea. What do you feel?
Yeah.
Hey! Hello, guys.
Good to see you guys.
How are you doing?
ALL GREET ONE ANOTHER
Yeah, it's amazing.
I just feel like this is the new me.
I've been given the freedom to now
start again and be, actually,
I can be organised and I am
organised and that will be me.
Absolutely. I can't wait.
Let's watch a film. Come on, I can't
wait.
I've been waiting to sit on this
sofa all day!
Oh, my goodness, you're going to
have so much fun around here.
I know. It does take a while,
though. Yeah. It takes a hot minute.
Since the house has been sorted,
life has changed quite a lot.
I don't know if I can describe
how much I love it.
I feel like a new person, really.
It's freed me up.
The girls are desperate
to have friends over and, you know,
I'm really looking forward to that.
I really like it cos me and Aeveri
have separate sides of the room.
If my side of the room is tidy, I
don't care what Aeveri's looks like.
It's not so stressful to spend time
together because I'm not stressed
about things being in the wrong
places or anything like that.
Out of ten, I love my house...11.
