who use her branches as their home.

our Chumash relatives
never would have created acorn mush. Mm!

That was the biggest acorn
my hawk eyes have ever seen.

-[gasps]

Great Oak sounds really scary.
Maybe we should just leave her alone?

We have to invite her.

She's an elder, remember?
We can't leave her out.

Tree lover? Wood crusher?

-[rumbling]

Her branches are scary.

but she takes care of our Samala land.

She deserves as much respect as any elder.

Not all elders are the same, Rangers.

Some are shy, or silly,
or they're a little grumpy.

[Sunny] But they still need
to be treated kindly and with care.

Elders are important to our community.

without the oldiest, the tallest,

the acorniest, the leafiest,

before the whole park is destroyed.

his cheeks with twigs and leaves.

When I was a young acorn,

I met Sunny and Moon
when I grew tall enough to meet the sky.

As I grew bigger and stronger,

a saber-toothed cat
liked to hide in my branches.

All right, everyone,
it's time for s'mores and story time.

When I was a Junior Ranger...
