I'm feeling great. I was a bit shocked
in the first assignment
at what the judges told me.
These were my least favorite looks.
The female looked like an '80s clown.
- [Heidi] There's a lot going on.

[Joshua] But I really
took that step forward.
- [Heidi] This print is beautiful.
- [Winnie] This I would wear.
When you're put down, you know,
you want to get back up with a fight.
For your next assignment,
we want you to create your brand's version
of a three-look, modern bridal collection,
reflective of your brand.
The United States bridal industry alone
is estimated to be upwards
of 72 billion dollars.
But weddings have changed,
and so have brides and grooms.
While the traditional white wedding gown
and tuxedo
will always have a place on the market,
many of today's brides and grooms
want fashion-forward looks
that represent their unique personalities
and esthetics on their big day.
Two looks will be for a couple,
and your third look
should be an accessible version
of one of those looks.
And, of course, your couple can be
any dynamic of your choosing--
two grooms, two brides...
It's completely up to you.

You just get a special feeling.

all these design lines,
they resemble your pleats.

You know, you were

I feel like a really cool couple

My brand is all about structure,

like, structured at the top.

I think the beautiful part about it
is that it reveals

because I feel like it's going to help us
tell the story that we want to tell.
Do you have anything like that in sequin,
and can you run to go show me?
- Like, run.
- Yeah.
[Ally] We have very different styles.

Me and Gary are at
the Beverly Hills City Hall,
where I got married to my husband, which
gets me emotional, thinking about it.
[Gary] Well, I just feel like this is
the q*eer church, in a way, City Hall.
[Raf] It's such a big story
for the q*eer community,
that I think it's important that
we acknowledge that in our design.
Growing up as a g*y kid in Poland,
in a very conservative environment,
very Catholic,
I lived in my head, basically.
I created this, like, wonderful world.
There's really nothing g*y in Poland,
at least when I was growing up.
I didn't have g*y friends.
I always had a dream of living
in New York,
so, at age of 16, I had opportunity
to come to New York.
In the very beginning, my parents
had a huge problem
with me moving to New York.
I mean, obviously, it was shocking
that your 16-year-old child
wants to live in New York,
where we live in Poland.
I told them that this is where
I want to be, and this is what I'm doing,
and in order for us to basically live
as a happy family,
they just kind of have to be onboard.
I know that my parents,
they're so proud of me.
They're huge supporters,
and, I mean, this means the world to me.
I don't cry,
and I'm just getting emotional.
[laughs]
I support myself from my brand,
and also, me and my husband opened
a retail store in New York City
called Mott NYC.
which is the home
of my brand, R. Swiader.
What do you think, babe?
I mean, we have not
been apart for so long,
so... what do you think
about me being on the show?
Oh, my God, my husband is like
the biggest fan of mine,
and he really pushes me
to being my true self
and not changing for anybody.
- This would be this color...
- Okay.
With this fabric here, the organza,
it will be light anyway,
so you'll just see it.
Yeah.

For the bride, we're going to do something
more sexy, more sophisticated.
We love the pearls, we love the details.
And then, the big skirt.

just in case we change our mind.
We wanted to do, like,
a really cool, like, retired punk rocker
marries an ex-supermodel couple.
With the groom look, I think
that's gonna really be the standout look.
This is... that's the dress.
What makes this really stand out
as a dress will be an under crinoline.
- I just want to make sure it's modern.
- It's totally modern.
Then there's got to be something
underneath the tulle.
- Right.
- A little bit.
- But again, just don't make it too big.
- I know. Don't worry.

I don't do tulle. I don't do lace.
He's scared of lace. This is
the first time he's ever used tulle.
There's a lot about my work
that's so not him.
So, like, I'm just looking
for common ground.
But the thing that is missing is
the decorative print element, okay?
But everything has to be so decorative.
Modern's clean.
But modern doesn't mean not decorative.

I think Lucie's a skillful designer.
She has a sophisticated style.

and it'll be like, super smooth.
It's a good combination with mine too.

I was hoping to be teamed up with Andrea,
because she specifically works in bridal,
but I felt like maybe
I could bring something to that,
that she hasn't had a look at.
We have very different ideas
of what modern clothing is.
I am from Los Angeles, California,
born and raised.
Because I grew up in Southern California,
surf and skate culture was massive
in the '80s and '90s.
You know, we were really pushing
that style around the world.
As a child, I remember my mom
would drive us around to sample sales,
and we'd be going in people's backyards
and buying this clothing
that no one else had,
and I loved to be the only person
that had it.
I started Seeker four years ago,
and it's been a success. [laughs]
I make gender-inclusive clothing.
I've had amazing partnerships
with major conglomerates.
I've worked with ASOS and Free People.
I would say our most notable persona is
Charlize Theron.
Winning Making the Cut would mean to me
that I would get my business to a state
where it can support its growth.
I couldn't do anything
without my fiancée.
Our wedding date was to be October 24th.
We absolutely had it planned,
figured it out, and then COVID happened,
and we've had to postpone.
We are still so excited to get married.
You know?
She's the best.
[sighs]
Why didn't we do this earlier?
Keep working on your tech packs, girl.
I never know if Andrea understands
what I'm saying
or if she's just kind of nodding
because she wants me to stop talking.

and I definitely know my wife

because bridal is what she does.

Actually, she's my teacher.
My cousin, she's a seamstress,
and she's with me since day zero.
So, it's like a family,
warm family company.
It's like a legacy for me.

the new generation of fashion.

What I love about these two looks together
is that they have such separate DNA,

I mean, that definitely is like
a modern approach,
but does the suit give you joy
of the most important day of your life?
[Winnie] I'd wear the suit.
Is it wedding? Not quite.

I had to do for my wedding."
I like this.

It's a really fine line between tradition
and also modern
because of the sheerness.

He's a rocker, and she's a model,
and they're getting married.
These looks are stressing me,
'cause I like them,
but they don't fit the theme.
I do love the oversized jacket.

I love the treatment under the jacket.

I mean, I will say that now Lucie's
very architectural feeling makes sense.
[Heidi] It's too many things for me
with his look.

- The little stripe down the pantleg?

[Heidi] This dress, I think, is nice,
and I think a lot of people
would buy that dress.
Little shorter in the front,
longer in the back. Sheer.
I mean, this, I think,
would sell like hotcakes.
But you could wear it
even if you don't go to a wedding.

- My God, I want to cry. Like, we did it.

I felt good about this fashion show today.
- I'm impressed.
- I love what Andrea and Ally did.
[Jeremy] That jumpsuit reveal was major,
but I did have problems with that suit.
It's unattractive.
It definitely could have been
ex*cuted better,
but I love that it was still feminine
with a little masculine hints.
One of my favorite looks
from the whole show today
is the one-sleeve dress.
Different fabric, maybe.
[Winnie] Yeah, it showed everything.
But the silhouette is beautiful.
Through and through, that was Andrea.
You could see that it was her 100%.
But where's Ally in all of this?
That's the question.
- I don't see her anywhere here.

I thought that wedding dress
was totally a modern bride.
Yes, I loved the cool girl blazer,
but it was not well-made.
Also, I could not believe that a groom
would really show up
dressed like he's in a rap music video
from the '90s.
[Heidi] Well, yeah, he's a musician.
It's sad to me, because if she did this
look for something else, I would love it.
But it's streetwear.
I kind of thought
they were a sexy couple.

This is tough, because I feel like
they all did great today.
I don't feel strong enough to say,
"Okay, this person needs to go."
I think we need to find out
who did what here.
Inspector Heidi's gonna get out

I was stressed to go into elimination.
I want to prove to the judge
that I can do and I can finish
the idea that I have.
- We really liked today's runway show.

This was our first design collaboration
assignment,
and I am eager to hear how it all went.
Being able to work with other designers
and brands is imperative for success.
There will be a winning collaboration,
and that duo's accessible look
will be immediately available

We discussed each of your collections,
and based on this,
we've made some decisions.
But as you know,
they're not necessarily final.
A conversation can change our minds.
To be honest, this time around,
we don't really all agree.
We need to better understand who did what.
So, this conversation is very important.

- [Heidi] Hi, guys.

Tell us about your modern wedding looks.
We know our DNA
so we take like, the strongest part
of our brand,
and to try to match together.
So I did the main wedding dress.
I played with architectural top
with some fluidity on the bottom.
It was modern,
but it also was a bit nostalgic.
I loved it.
It gave me Disney princess and prince,
but then it had these touches
like the blue in the suit,
which is not very classic,
and it added that modernness to it.
I saw you very clearly with the groom,
and you with the bride.
And I saw the merge together
with the accessible look.
I love the mullet dress and having
interest in both directions.
I did like that you chose an unusual color
for the tuxedo,
but I did not love the fabric.
[Joshua] Yeah.
- But I like the intention.
- Thank you, Jeremy.
I had a really hard time with his look.
I know you guys liked it.
I didn't like it at all.
Don't like the color,
don't like the stripe down the pant.
Yours, on the other hand, it was
a beautiful wedding dress that you made.
It was so nice to see what you can do.
Now, your hybrid
I'm absolutely in love with.
Everyone can feel sexy in it,
because it's super short
but not because you have
the sheer layer on top.
I think that customers would love
this accessible look.
Obviously, you guys worked well together.
It showed in your work.
Is there a story to your bride and groom?
Well, yeah. I was supposed to be married
this year in July initially,
- but because of COVID, you know...
- Aww...
...we had to postpone it to next year.
So, Lucie's like, you know what,
let's design the wedding dress
for my missus, Tania.
- Really? Aww!
- So, you know, that was the muse.
That is so sweet. I love that.
And that's where a lot of great design
comes from, the heart.

So, we got the idea to do a jumpsuit.
I said, "Okay. If we do a jumpsuit,
I need a reveal moment.
Like, I need something to happen,
because I'm a gown type of girl."
Merging our design esthetics
was super easy.
She's, like, relaxed and fun,
and I'm, like, glamorous and edgy,
and it was kind of, like, they had a baby.
[both laugh]
I liked all of the looks,
but I have to admit that it was hard
for me to understand who did what,
because Ally
I did not really see in there.
Or I don't really know
who you are in there yet.
Andrea, I can clearly see you,
I feel like, in all three looks.
But, Ally, what is your DNA in there?
The pants in specific
are a pattern that I make.
It's one of my most popular pants.
I like the pant.
- I didn't like the pant.
- Jeremy did not love the pant so much.
[Jeremy] They looked really saggy.
And then, already, I thought, as a dress,
when she came down,
I thought it was beautiful.
But my favorite moment of the show
was the jumpsuit reveal.
That reveal look was insane.
- I was obsessed.
- [laughter]
We had a "wow" moment.
- That was like...
- And we live for "wow" moments.
Absolutely, that was like, "Whoa!"
And thinking that also,
that you could be convertible,
like, you were the bride, now you're
dancing at your afterparty and all that.
- Exactly.
- Bravo.
My only qualm
was with the accessible look,
because my biggest thing is making sure
the accessible look is not a cheaper look.
And it kind of gave me that,
where I could see a panty line,
I could see this, I could see that.
So, just things to be mindful for.

Our customer was a retired punk rocker
and an ex-supermodel.

and I was focused on the other looks.
We have different pace of working,
but I feel good, and I feel happy
with what we did.
So, did you make his look
and the big white jacket?
[Olivia] Yes.
[Heidi] And the construction
on the white one you're happy with?
I mean, we kept changing
the accessible look,
so, today, I had to, like, hustle
and get that done.
- She's a fast sewer.

The accessible look was not a merge.
It is really just putting a jacket on.
And that was not
what we were looking for...
- Yeah.
- ...in that respect.
And also, the jacket was just a shell.
It looked unfinished, so that was,
to me, a big failure.
But I really liked the dress,
which I felt was clearly your DNA,
with the pearls and the sheer.
It's that kind of old Hollywood vibe.
I did not believe your suit
was going to get married.
It looked so street.
- Yeah.
- [Heidi] The big coat idea I liked
in the accessible look.
I love the concept of it.
I thought she was a cool girl.
I didn't hate his look that much,
and I loved your dress.
It was beautiful with the pearls.
It makes it look more expensive,
more fancy...
[Andrea] Yes.
I wish it was even more fancy.
I wish it was even more expensive.
It's beautiful, but I don't see
"wedding" from it as of yet.
I feel like you could have given more,

so, I don't really feel like that was

where are we in the competition?

and what can help us
to keep this moving forward?
