on Sverre Olsen, who m*rder*d

Ellen Gjelten in cold blood two weeks ago.

The deceased Olsen was the main suspect

in an ongoing investigation

regarding the importation

of ill*gal firearms into Norway.

Agnes Sjølid, Oslo's Chief of Police,

says they will continue working tirelessly

on uncovering the cr--

[door opens and closes]

-[pan sizzling]

Forensics are on their way, but…

we can see her body's not cold or stiff--

Because her body wasn't moved there.

That means she was k*lled

on her way into the shower.

Her body's blocking the drain.

Janitor said that the shower

was on at full blast.

It's a tiny bathroom.

It wouldn't take long

for the water to overflow.

The downstairs neighbor

noticed the leak at exactly 5:20.

The asymmetry in the sooting

suggests the sh**ter was taller than her.

He had to aim down at an angle.

The graduated burns,

no exit wound,

it's a short-barreled weapon.

Yeah. A p*stol.

[Harry sighs heavily]

No other signs of violence.

Some slight swelling

in the right eye socket.

Used a wire cutter

or one hell of a sharp knife.

Found the finger yet?

-No.

-The weapon?

No, not yet.

That's a lot of blood.

Her hand is in the water,

so it didn't coagulate.

It still seems like a lot

from one severed finger?

That the k*ller cut her finger off

while she was still alive.

When narcotics was staked

outside Sverre Olsen's garage,

they took that photo

of Tom Waaler going in.

They didn't realize it was him,

the picture is too blurry, but…

when Beate Lønn,

she's a so-called "super recognizer,"

saw that image,

she identified the guy as Tom Waaler.

This picture?

Yes, with 70% certainty.

When Ellen and I confronted Waaler

with the picture, he said he wasn't there.

He brushed it off. Claimed he was

home alone when it was taken.

I've done a background check

with the police station in Stockholm

and with Interpol.

They had nothing bad to report

regarding Tom Waaler while he was there.

Do you have any hard evidence

proving he wasn't home then?

He found them by chance.

It's very convenient.

Waaler arrived out of the blue

at the cabin where

the suspect Sverre Olsen's hiding,

and where Olsen

and Ellen Gjelten are k*lled?

Is that all you've got?

A coincidence?

Say that picture really is Tom Waaler.

He got paranoid,

so he went to k*ll Sverre Olsen

so he couldn't testify.

Ellen was just in the wrong place

at the wrong time.

[line ringing]

Forensics found evidence of an altercation

around 300 feet away from the cabin.

A DNA match for Ellen,

but nothing from Olsen.

-[phone vibrating]

-Her phone was turned off before she died.

The phone is still missing.

He beat and tortured her

in order for it to look like

it was a fight between her and Olsen.

That's Tom Waaler.

Hole, this is the moment

where I should toss you out of my office.

Not just because you don't have a case.

You do realize that this is

an extremely serious accusation

against one of your own colleagues?

If I give you the authority

to investigate Waaler,

it'll be on my head if you're wrong.
