to the annual county fair,

a time in Fairhope where everyone

is intoxicated by the whiff of corn dogs,

cotton candy,

and, yes, casual romances.

Meet Corbin, Abby's new love interest.

It's still very new, but it's

looking awfully promising.

- How are you?

- Better now.

Corbin is everything that Trevor is not.

He's kind,

charming,

and he's not complicated.

Yeah, I'm breathin' it in ♪

He's just great, yeah.

[laughs]

NARRATOR:

Now what could possibly go wrong

with a man this perfect?

CORBIN:

I know we just started hangin' out, but--

- Yeah.

- Work gave me a call.

- Okay.

- I got a pretty cool opportunity.

- Okay.

- So, I'll be moving pretty soon.

NARRATOR:

And thus, in the blink of an eye,

we go from county fair to county farewell.

[people screaming]

CORBIN:

It's kinda awful timing.

- Literally.

NARRATOR: In life and love,

we blame so much on time.

But is that just wistfully shortsighted?

Because isn't there a bigger picture,

a plan greater than us?

Is it only a matter of time before

our love lives play themselves out

just as they should?

Summer Healing

in a couple months ♪

NARRATOR: When you're younger,

you almost always take time for granted.

Take Mya Jo, for instance,

who thought her time at college

would change nothing.

But then, Nick meshed with Baylee,

Kirk came outta nowhere,

and their friend group was

turned inside out and upside down.

NICK:

You like my friends?

- I like Kirk.

- Yeah?

- He's a goob.

- Kirk's cool.

Everybody else you're gettin'

along with very well, though.

It works.

- The conversations, though,

with Mya Jo and Faith

are just kinda awkward

whenever you're not around.

- Yeah?

How so?

- It's just, like, forced, kind of.

- Hm.

- It's not really, like--

We don't really talk like,

like you and Mya Jo talk.

- Yeah, well, we, you know--

- Yeah.

- have a lotta history.

Families know each other,

grew up together,

went to school together.

- Yeah.

NICK: Just kinda is how it is.

That bother you?

- I mean, kinda.

I haven't met your family.

- Yeah.

- When am I gonna meet 'em?

- Mm, I don't know.

Very soon. You-- I mean,

you know how I am with that, uh.

It's just--

I feel like it's a little early.

- It's been, like, five months or so.

- Yeah, like, four or five months.

- Yeah.

- I don't know, the last girlfriend I had,

it was, like, about a year.

- Oh, my God. [laughs]

- Yeah. [laughs]

- That's a while.

- Mm.

I hate meetin' the parents.

- Yeah?

NICK:

Just makes it a lot more serious.

Scary serious.

- But I feel like meeting the parents

is just really big for me

'cause family's really important, and--

- No, you're right.

- And you're, like,

[Nick grunts]

not really like, seem, like, happy

or excited about me meeting your parents.

It's kind of, like, a red flag.

- Uh I don't know.

I don't even think

about it like that, I just--

- Yeah.

- That was so much fun.

KIRK: What's up, y'all?

- What up?

- She caught her first wave.

MYA JO:

Did pretty good.

- So, what you've been doin', Kirk?

- Just makin' music, ya know?

- Makin' music?

KIRK: Yeah, workin'.

- Speakin' of music,

Kirk has a concert Saturday.

Y'all should come.

NICK: Yeah.

KIRK: Yeah, y'all need to come.

- Oh.

- It's at the, uh,

Frog Pond in Silverhill.

NICK: We might come out.

KIRK: Y'all need to come.

- He's playing some new music

he hasn't dropped yet.

We would like to see you all there.

- You're gonna be there, too, aren't you?

- Of course, I'm gonna be front row.

NICK:

Mm.

- Have you wrote a song

about Mya Jo yet?

- Maybe one or two.

Maybe one or two.

- Maybe one or two, really?

- Aw, that's sweet.

[laughs]

- That's cool, though.

- Good, I'm glad you're here.

Feels like home with you here.

- Yeah.

- That sounded really [laughs] relational.

- Basically are in one.

[chuckles]

We only agreed to get married

if we can't find a husband, so--

- I know, by 40.

[both laughing]

- Are you talkin' to anybody?

- Um, I went on a date,

like, a week ago.

- Oh!

- With a guy named--

- I think you mentioned that

on the phone.

- Yeah.

A guy named Corbin,

but he recently moved.

[laughing]

There's always, like--

- Some type of drama in your life.

- Uh yeah.

Like, obviously, like, the whole

Trevor situation has been ongoing.

- How old is he again?

- 24. [chuckles]

- Okay. That's-- [laughs]

- Yes. Like 'em young.

Can teach them. [laughs] No.

Even when I met him,

I think I was emotionally unavailable.

So, like I sought out

emotionally unavailable people.

- So, you think it could be

something now, though?

- No.

It just, like, ended really weird.

- You've dated some weirdos

- I have.

- that are normal on the surface.

Think that's your thing.

- But it's weird 'cause they all end up

having, like, the same issues.

- What does your mom say about it?

- I mean, she says that she prays

for our future person all the time

[laughing]

and has since we were babies.

- She's not praying hard enough.

[both laughing]

- But I think growing up

seeing her be so dependent on men

and relationships has, like,

made me want to be self-sufficient.

- I mean, that would scare me,

being remarried that

amount of, amount of times.

- Yeah, so many times.

But I think she's still just

trying to find out who she is.

- Which-- Do you think

that could be you, then?

- Yeah.

NARRATOR: As Abby feared,

it was only a matter of time

before she became more like her mother.

Tate's and Delilah's age

when, like, we first met.

- [laughs] Oh, yeah?

- Mm-hm.

- Well, um, that was probably because,

like, I always thought you were beautiful

and, like, I always wanted to talk to you,

but I always just, like,

"Victoria, don't do that to yourself,

you know, because you can't have that."

- But here we are.

[laughs]

Well, it's meant a lot to me

to see you, like, step up

and really be there for the kids,

and we haven't really

experienced that from anybody.

- Yeah, I really, honest to God,

don't know how you did it by yourself.

So, like, I really

couldn't imagine not helpin',

and, like, I don't wanna, like, jinx this.

Let me just knock on some wood.

- Yeah.

- Um, my relationship with the kids

has been easy, like, from day one.

- Mm-hm.

- And, like, seein'

how I fit in the picture

has been one of the, probably,

greatest things I've ever experienced.

- All three of us are

very strong personalities

- Absolutely.

- and that's a lot for, like,

a new person to come in,

and you handle it all so well, honestly.

And it's so funny

'cause Tate thinks like,

"Alright. Well, you're gonna get married

and then you're supposed

to have kids again."

And I'm like, "Mm-mm, buddy.

Nope. Those days are over."

- But that is somethin'

that is big for me.

I wanna get married and I want kids.

- Mm.

NARRATOR:

As Olivia started to realize

that, perhaps, the honeymoon phase

of this relationship was coming to an end,

Abby was getting her night

started on the other side of town,

having the time of her life

celebrating a blast from the past.

- So, who is this birthday boy?

- Um, yeah, we went

to high school together.

Um, like, first love kinda thing.

Justin was my sweet, little

high school boyfriend.

I mean, everything on paper

with Justin is perfect.

NARRATOR:

But don't get too excited.

He's definitely the one who got away.

ABBY: I know for a fact

that he is not perfect for me,

but he honestly gives me hope

that there are good men out there.

- Hey, girl, how are you?

- I'm good. [laughs]

- This must be, uh--

JUSTIN: Long time no see.

- Hi.

- Hey, I'm Justin.

Nice to meet you.

- Justin. Nice to meet you. I'm Brittany.

- You look good.

- Yeah, thank you. You do, too.

- But yeah, it's good to see you.

JUSTIN: Everything going smooth?

- It is, yeah.

It's good to be back, honestly.

- Good, so, you talk to your mom?

[patrons chattering]

- Yes.

- You're lyin' to me.

I know that face, Abby.

- Ooh.

Tell me the truth.

- I have-- I-- We have spoken,

we've texted since I've been back.

I have not seen her.

Um, I don't know, I just kind of wanted

to get my life in order moving back,

and, like, then deal with that, so.

- Well, she misses you and she loves you.

- I'm so glad y'all are so close.

- Hey, she loves me.

ABBY: It's not weird at all.

- I don't know what to tell you, but--

- The one that got away,

she always reminds me.

- Yep, I always loved her biscuits.

- Thanks, Mom. [laughs]

- Her biscuits.

- [laughs]

Well, if y'all are free next weekend

we got a rodeo in Mississippi

at a buddy of mine's house. We got--

- Cowboys? Speakin' my love language.

BRIT: I love to hear it.

- Yeah. Bulls and cowboys.

- Ooh!

- Sign me up.

JUSTIN: I know y'all like that, huh?

- Match made in heaven. [laughs] No.

BRIT: We'll sign her up.

I'm just ridin' with her.

- Alright, well, I'll catch

y'all later tonight, alright?

- It was nice to meet you.

- Get on the dance floor.

- I cannot.

BRIT: Don't ya-- Wait.

Hold on, let me get this thing straight.

Him and your mom still talk?

- Clearly.

- [clears throat] Wow!

Um, okay.

We gotta discuss this rodeo deal

because that is literally

our sign to get outta town

like we have been wanting to do.

- Yes. It's a sign that

the Lord loves us

and wants us to be happy.

Duh. Yep.

- [sings] Ahh, thank you, Jesus ♪

- Yes, we're goin' to the rodeo.

- Woo!

[cheering and whistles]

NARRATOR:

and it's about to blow up everything.

- Let's do it.

[c*ck shaker rattles]

- Hey He was cute.

- Oh, he's gorgeous.

He always comes up and hugs me,

and I'm like, "So, you still

have a girlfriend, don't you?"

He said, "Yeah."

I said, "That's a shame."

He just grinned from ear

to ear like he did just now.

NANCY: I know.

[Lori laughing]

- I hear you have a sweetie.

- I'm talkin' to a couple,

but it's not-- I don't,

I don't know how

to juggle men.

NANCY: Well, and you,

you're talkin' to, like, seven.

- Somethin' like that.

- How do keep up with 'em all?

NANCY: But it's--

- You got a notebook to take notes?

- [laughs] No.

- You know, every time I get online

and I look at the different profiles,

I feel like I'm at a grocery store.

[Lori laughs]

You know?

- You get to squeeze the produce

and see if it's fresh. [laughs]

NANCY: No, no, no, no.

You're only online.

LORI: That comes later.

CLAIBORNE: Well--

- But how do you,

how do you decide

who you're gonna click on?

CLAIBORNE: Okay. So, I'm going

- Who are you gonna have

conversations with?

- to the grocery store

and I'm looking for people

who have a decent picture.

I don't care if they're

a little shorter than me.

They can stand on their wallet

if they need to, but whatever.

[Lori laughing]

I like a man who can make me laugh.

LORI:

Absolutely.

CLAIBORNE: So, and I like

a man that I can make laugh.

- Oh, yeah.

- I think that there will be

somebody that I can accommodate,

or I can live with their quirks

and they can live with mine.

MYA JO: Dude, that was so much fun.

- And then when he was makin'

that eye contact at you, girl.

- Almost had a heart attack.

- I know. I was like, "I see it."

As Nick watched Baylee walk away,

he was left wondering

for the first time,

"What if she's right?"

What if his feelings

have changed for Mya Jo?

But now that she's home

and in pursuit of a healthy forever love,

maybe it's time to finally accept

After all, my mom was married five times.

But if I ever want

to have a healthy relationship,

I need to resolve

my feelings about the past.

After all, she is family.

NARRATOR: Meanwhile,

now that the two have been

officially divorced for over two months.

I enjoy comin' over here.

To me, you're still family.

Kaden makes us family.

No, we're not married.

But I do hope that we can

have a better dynamic

that could potentially turn

into a genuine friendship.

- I love hard, ex-extremely hard,

I wanted it to be forever.

So, the hardest thing in all of this,

is I'm in love with a woman

that I ain't even with,

that I ain't even married to no more.

That's hard to try to navigate through

because you were my world.

- There's been so much that

that has just royally hurt me

whenever I did something wrong.

My punishment was having to work

back to a point of being loved by you.

And that's so messed up.

That's how I dealt with things

in other relationships moving forward.
