Jet Propulsion and his family are human aliens from the fictional planet Bortron 7 which orbits around a red dwarf called Bortron.

01x32 - Whole Lotta Shakin'/My Fair Jet

Post by bunniefuu »

Ready, Jet, go!

[THEME MUSIC]

(SINGING) Jet Propulsion, that's his name.

Jet Propulsion, he'll rocket to fame.

When he arrived he created a buzz cause there was no house,

and then there was.

He said, people of Earth, you ain't seen nothing yet.

I'm from Bortron and my name is Jet.

Jet Propulsion, that's his name.

He looks like us, but he isn't the same.

I'm a space tripper and a galaxy crosser.

My parents brought me here in a flying saucer.

And just to prove it was a fact, he

flew them up to space and back.

With Jet Propulsion--

Jet Propulsion.

Ready, Jet, go!

He showed up, and now it's a blast.

Looks like the future really got here fast.

Nice to meet you, human race.

Tell me all about the place.

Jet Propulsion, Jet Propulsion, Jet Propulsion.

Ready Jet Go!

[MUSIC PLAYING]

[LAUGHTER]

Whoo hoo!

I can't believe we're on the moon.

Now that we're here, I've got the perfect plan.

Let's build a moonbase, just like the one

in the latest Commander Cressida comic, "My Mighty Moonbase."

A mighty moonbase, huh?

That is, as you Earthies say, completely cool.

I know, right.

Hey, I have an idea.

We're on the moon.

Why don't we build our own moonbase.

I think it's a great idea.

It will be really good training for when

I'm an astronaut leading a solar system exploration team

from our lunar headquarters.

Right.

Or for when I'm a famous science fiction

writer living on the moon when I'm not

flying between all the planets. - OK.

But meanwhile, here's a question for right now.

What do we use to build our moonbase?

[HONK]

Whoa.

Where did you get all those from, Sunspot?

Oh, Sunspot always carries a supply

of Bortronian building blocks.

You know, in case we have to build a structure on the moon.

Well, it's perfect.

Sunspot, you're amazing.

Building blocks-- what's next?

A six foot sandwich?

[PHONE RINGS]

Guess he was hungry. OK.

To build our moonbase, can't we just copy Commander Cressida's?

Um, probably not.

She built it using her high-tech galacto constructanoid, HX.

We have one of those, right?

OK.

We don't have one of those.

But we do have Sunspot and his step-by-step design.

Ooh, very nice, Sunspot.

We Bortronians do love to solve problems and build

things while working together.

Except for my cousin Zerk.

He always wants to make his moon structures bigger and higher

than everyone else's.

Well, that's Zerk for you.

Not your usual Bortronian.

Ha, speaking of which--

hi, Zerk.

Ah, Jet, hi.

Jet, Jet, Jetta.

I heard you're building something on the moon.

You'll never make it as good as the last one

I built on our moon.

Oh, we'll see about that, cousin.

Ha, yep, we will.

I mean, building on moons is my thing, not yours, Jet.

Plus, plus you're more of an Earthie now.

We all know they don't build as well as Bortronians.

Anyway, luck good.

You'll need to have it.

Bye-bye, bye.

So Zerk thinks us Earthies can't

build moonbases very well, huh?

We'll show him.

All right.

Then let's get started.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

So what do we do first?

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Ah, well, since Earthies and Bortronians

love building things, this should work out great.

Plus, we have way lower gravity here on the moon

than on Earth. That should help.

Plus, plus we have the challenge of building

the best moonbase ever!

Better than anything Zerk could come up with.

OK kids.

Just remember that we only have , Bortron gramaports--

now, that's one Earth hour--

before Carrot has dinner ready on Earth.

- Only ,? - Yup.

So you better step in it. Ready--

Jet, go!

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Whoa, wait guys.

Shouldn't we be scientific about this?

Like, scientific how?

Like, use the scientific method and lay the blocks out

exactly like Sunspot's plan.

Or we could use the Jet method and try

whatever pops into our heads.

That sounds like fun.

Let's do it.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Ah, good try.

[WATCH BEEPS]

Zerk again. - Ah, Jet.

Ah, Jet, Jet, Jet.

Have you-- have you even started building yet?

I just thought I'd check in.

More like butt in.

We're already busy building, Zerk.

Gotta go. Bye.

Zerk (ON WATCH): Ah, but wait.

Ah, Jet, Jet, Jet.

That Zerk.

He always knows exactly what I'm doing.

Yeah.

So how does he know what we're doing, Jet?

Oh, I think he just read my mind from across the galaxy.

Anyway, it doesn't matter what Zerk says.

We will build a fantastic kid-made moon structure

that will be forever--

- What's happening? - Wow.

The moon is shaking.

What's going on, Moon?

It feels like a huge truck went by and shook everything.

Or like when a rocket takes off.

Maybe we should discuss this one Earth while eating

some Mac and Cheese.

Stress makes me hungry.

Don't worry.

We're safe, Sean.

These Bortronian building blocks are strong as deal,

but they're light as feathers.

OK.

But what's happening?

How come our structure fell down?

Actually, what we're all feeling is a moonquake.

A moonquake?

Are you sure?

I'm kind of a moon expert, and I've never heard

of the moon having quakes.

So I know what a moon is, but what's a quake?

It's when the ground moves and shakes, like an earthquake.

Good one, earthquake.

It's just copying the moon.

But seriously--

Seriously Jet, there are big and really small earthquakes,

just like this one on the moon.

What can't the solar system do?

Oh, right.

It can't rebuild our moonbase structure.

We have to do it.

Let's do it and make it even taller this time.

Or we can be scientific about it.

Good one, Sean. Excelsior!

Onward and up up upward.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Wow.

This structure is even taller.

Oh no.

Another moonquake.

What do you think causes moonquakes to happen?

Well, one reason there are moonquakes is

because of asteroids hitting the moon's surface.

And another possible cause may be the temperature on the moon.

Broiling hot when the sun's out.

Super freezing when it's not.

Boingo Sean.

That huge temperature difference makes the moon's rocky surface

crack, shake, and quake.

Oh, moons.

You're the coolest.

And sometimes the hottest.

Or shakiest.

Another moonquake.

Astronauts log, learn more about moonquakes

when I get back to Earth. [WATCH BEEPS]

Zerk (ON WATCH): Jet, ah, Jet, Jet Jet, Jet.

How's the building going?

Hope a moonquake doesn't cause trouble.

Or has it already? Been there.

OK. Bye, bye, bye.

Zerk knows about moonquakes too?

Yep. Ooh that Zerk.

It's like he's trying to get me whatever the opposite

of peaceful and calm is.

Mad?

That's the word.

But I never get mad.

All I want to do is build a cool moonbase thing.

Something really tall and way better than anything Zerk

can come up with.

We can do it.

We're team Jetsydneyseansunspot.

Yeah.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Guys, I'm thinking about what just happened.

Uh-huh.

What about it?

We don't need to build bigger and taller.

We need to build stronger and smarter.

We're listening.

The tall structures we keep making

keep getting knocked down by moonquakes.

So I think we should build another kind of structure.

- A really, really tall one? - No.

I think we need to build a lower wider one, not a taller one.

Look, if we build it tall skinny a moonquake will knock it down.

But if we make a wider one--

It's harder to knock down.

Oh, that really could work.

Great idea, Sydney.

New plan-- a lower and wider moonbase.

But it will take a long time for us

to design a new kind of structure.

Wow.

That was fast.

OK.

Let's build this moonbase.

Excelsior.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

This will show Zerk that Bortronians and Earthies

can build together on the moon.

And their structure won't fall down.

Oh, it's looking just fantastic, kids.

Last block Sunspot.

Put it in place.

Now this is a great moonbase.

Built using the scientific method.

Right.

So I wonder what we can add to it to make it even more unique.

You know, just for fun.

I'm thinking Sunspot has an idea.

[MUSIC PLAYING] - Whoo hoo!

Awesome idea Sunspot. - Wow.

I can't believe I'm trampolining in my moonbase

in a crater on the moon.

Pinch me.

Ow.

I didn't mean that literally, Sunspot.

Hi Zerk.

Take a look at team Jetsydneyseansunspot's

new structure.

Zerk (ON WATCH): Ah, it looks ah--

ah-- OK.

Zerk, are you speechless because what we built

is so amazing?

Zerk (ON WATCH): I mean, it's good.

It's very good. Yeah, and it's cool.

Look at the trampoline. I mean, wow.

I like it. I mean, I really like it.

I didn't want to say it.

But I have to say it's really good job.

I love it. OK.

Good bye. - Bye Zerk.

- Whoo hoo! - Yeah!

We did it.

Fly to the moon.

Go, Sunspot.

Go, Sunspot.

This is moontastic.

Whoo!

Whoa! - Whoo!

JET: Bye moon.

SYDNEY: With your unexpected moonquakes.

Who knew. - Yep.

We're always learning more and more about the moon

just like my hero, Neil Armstrong, did.

Wow, look how cool our moonbase looks down there.

It does.

I bet our not-too-tall moonbase will last forever.

[BOOM, BOOM]

ALL: No.

An asteroid.

I really thought our moonbase would last forever too, Jet.

Yeah.

But look what we've accomplished today.

We tried, we failed, we tried again.

And we built a fantastic moonbase.

You're right, Jet.

Now we just have to come back and make an even

cooler and stronger moonbase.

Yeah, a cooler one than Zerk could ever even imagine.

[WATCH RINGS]

ZERK (ON WATCH): Ah, I heard that, Jet.

I heard that.

Wait, what are you doing?

Jet, no.

Jet!

No!

Ow.

OK, that didn't really hurt.

These are just paper asteroids.

But if this has been a real asteroid,

then it really would have hurt.

Well, what are asteroids anyway?

Hi, I'm astronemer Amy Mainzer.

Asteroids are rocky leftovers from the formation

of our solar system and / billion years ago.

Most of the asteroids in our solar system

live in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

And they've stayed there for a really long time--

billions of years in some cases.

Asteroids come in all shapes and sizes.

Some are as huge as mountains.

And others are as small as this little pretend one right here.

They're made out of all different things too.

Some are mostly made of metal.

And others are mostly rocks.

Still, others are kind of like a dirty old snowball.

A lot of people think that the asteroids are really close

together because we see them sometimes

like that in the movies.

But in reality, space is really, really big

and the asteroids are incredibly far apart.

If you were in the asteroid belt,

they would mostly just look like little dots

if you were standing on the surface of one.

Most of the time, asteroids in the main belt between Mars

and Jupiter orbit around and around, doing the same thing

for billions of years.

It's just like roller skaters going

around and around the rink.

They never touch each other, but every now and again

they get a little too close and a collision can happen.

So the next time you're out riding around

with your friends, just pretend you're

an asteroid gliding around the sun in the main belt

between Mars and Jupiter.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Open house day at the DSA.

SYDNEY: Yep, at the Deep Space Array.

It's pretty much my favorite weekend.

There's all kinds of fun science stuff you get

to experiment with and try out.

And this one's going to be the best,

because my mom's going to do a presentation with Berg

about weather balloons.

Weather balloons?

You mean those things at birthday parties?

Yeah, sort of, but bigger.

They're for studying weather.

Sounds fantastic.

I can't wait.

Jet, of course everyone's invited but--

But what?

But you've got to remember to not tell people

that you're from another planet.

Right! Right.

Not from Bortron .

A regular Earthie kid.

Put 'er out there partner.

I mean it.

It's a really important day for my mom.

She says her big boss is going to be there and she's nervous.

So you can't like break into song

and juggle hammers with Sunspot.

OK?

Hey, it's me, Jet.

Would I do that?

Yes, you have.

But I love getting together with lots of Earthies.

It brings out the Bortronian entertainer in me.

[MUSIC PLAYING] (SINGING) It's me.

I'm Jet.

That's my jam.

Bortronian is what I am.

Jet Propulsion, that's my name.

And traveling fast, that's my game.

Moving and reaction, opposite direction to the ejection

of some high-speed gas.

Ah, good morning.

(SINGING) Jet Propulsion, that's my jam.

Bortronian is what I am.

Bort-whatian is what you what?

(LAUGHING) Jet's rehearsing for a--

For a play he wrote.

[LAUGHING]

Wait, what's so funny? [DOG BARKS]

Whoa. Hey, hey, hey.

Whoa! - Phew.

So, anyway.

I'm ready for Open House Day.

No you're not.

Let's go to Jet's backyard and make a plan.

Hurray!

I love plans.

No, you don't.

I don't?

Jet, you can only go to Open House Day

if you can pretend to be a regular Earth

kid, not from Bortron .

And Sunspot has to act like a regular Earth pet.

So when you say regular, what do you mean exactly?

One, you can burst into song.

You mean like (SINGING) I've been to Venus, to Neptune and--

SYDNEY: Correct.

Two, you can't use your tool-armed backpack thingy.

And three, you can't do a crazy dance

number with Sunspot. JET: OK.

Check, check, and check. (SINGING) Good evening friends.

Jet, acting like a regular kid is none of what you just did.

And the same thing goes for Sunspot.

He has to behave like a real dog.

[MEOW]

I guess A cat's OK.

[BLEATS]

No, that's a goat.

[HONK, HONK]

I don't know you guys.

Maybe this is impossible.

Jet and Sunspot are never--

Never say never, my Earthie friends.

I love this challenge.

We just have to learn how to pretend to be

an Earth kid and his Earth pet.

And you two and Face can be our trainers.

Excelsior!

Face ready to assist you.

How about if I award Jet points for Earthiness.

Once he has earned points, he should be Earthie enough

to pass any test.

- Yes! - Huzzah!

Let the training begin.

[HONK, HONK]

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Stop that.

Let's pretend you're the DSA tomorrow

and a kid comes up and says hi.

What do you do?

- Hi, how are you? - Hello.

I am Jet, a regular Earth kid.

You know, I'd leave Earth out of it.

Just regular kid is better.

You know, that's a funny word, regular.

It reminds me of Regulus, one of your neighborhood stars.

I passed Regulus on my way here when I came from Bortron .

[BUZZ]

Ah, right, right.

Don't mention I'm from Bortron .

Got it.

Now we'll see if you can straighten all these pictures

like Earth kid would.

Wow.

Am I going to have to hang pictures at the DSA tomorrow?

No. This is a training montage.

Oh, OK.

Easy peasy, as you Earthies say.

[BUZZ]

No, Jet.

Remember, you can't use your backpack mechanical arm

thingies.

Earth kids only have two arms, Jet.

Oh, right, right.

Only two arms.

This may take a while.

Good job, Jet.

[BUZZ]

Close enough.

Let's move on.

All right, Jet.

Repeat after me.

(SINGING) My name is Jet.

I'm a regular Earth kid.

And with just two hands I'll open this lid.

Now you.

(SINGING) My name is Jet.

I'm a regular Earth kid. Ah, no.

Actually, I from Bortron .

[BUZZ]

Ah, right.

Don't mention Bortron .

Again.

(SINGING) My name is Jet.

I'm a regular Earth kid.

And with just two hands I'll open this lid.

Jet.

(SINGING) My name is Jet.

I'm a regular Earth kid.

And with just two hands I'll open this--

[BUZZ]

Without using your tool arm thingies, Jet.

Ah, right.

Again.

(SINGING) My name is Jet.

I'm from Bortron .

[BUZZ]

Again.

[BUZZ]

Again.

[BUZZ]

Again.

(SINGING) My name is Jet.

I'm a regular Earth kid.

And with just two hands I'll open this lid.

Whoo!

(SINGING) Good evening, friends.

Well, the singing was extra.

But you get points for style.

I'd say points.

You passed the test.

I did? Hurray!

Do I get to go? - Yes.

You're going to the DSA Open House Day.

Hi. Hello.

I'm from Bortro--

I'm from Earth, of course.

We're all from Earth.

Happy Open House Day on Earth.

Hey, Dr. Sean's Mom.

Hi, Dr. Rafferty.

Hi, Bergs. - Oh, hey.

Hi kids. - Hi kids.

Hi Mom. How's it going?

Oh, I'm nervous about this weather.

It looks like it might really start raining.

At the end of our presentation we release the weather balloon.

And I really want it to go well. - Yeah.

We're sending the balloon up to measure

the moisture in the atmosphere.

But I don't need a balloon to tell you it's going to rain.

Yeah. And your big boss is here.

Right.

If everything goes well, our weather study project

will get picked to go forward.

And if it does not go well, we might not get funded.

Wow.

We need your mom's weather presentation to go perfectly.

Yeah.

And we really need this to not turn into the I am

an alien from Bortron show.

Jet, will you be able to stick to your training

and act like a regular kid?

Hey, it's me. Jet.

Have I ever made a mistake?

Well, besides the maple syrup catapult?

And the runaway giant plant.

Oh, and the porcupine jumping contest.

You know what, don't answer that question.

Ah. Hello, everyone.

We're here to talk about weather balloons and weather.

Ah, this balloon is made to measure weather conditions,

like how much water is in the atmosphere.

Weather is created when energy gets

into the atmosphere creating wind, rain, and even storms.

Which we seem to be getting right now.

[THUNDER] Wow.

It's really starting to rain.

(SINGING) We're standing in the rain.

(SINGING) Just standing in the--

uh-oh.

Wait, bursting into song.

Anyway, that's why we send weather

balloons into the atmosphere.

To take measurement--

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Whoa! All right.

A regular Earth kid uses his actual arms.

Wow.

It looks like the weather itself is trying to launch

our weather balloon for us.

But we're fine, folks.

We are.

[THUNDER]

Yikes!

I did not calculate for this.

Sean! SYDNEY: Oh no!

Hang on.

We'll get you.

We have to get him down somehow. - Easy.

I've got my jetpack.

Oh, wait.

Regular Earth kid--

Whoa!

Jet, forget all that training.

Forget what we told you.

You did a great job of being an Earth kid.

But now I need my alien friend, good old Jet.

Please, please fly up there and rescue Sean.

Phew, what a relief.

Come on, Sunspot.

Excelsior!

Wow!

Look at that kid in the jetpack.

And that other kid in the dog costume.

So cool.

This is the best DSA weather presentation ever.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

(SINGING) Hey, everyone at the DSA,

tell me what is weather anyway.

Weather happens when energy here gets transferred up

into the atmosphere.

Those hot and cold layers get pretty dynamic.

No need to panic because it just makes rain.

It's me, Jet.

That's not jam.

Bortronian is what I am.

Jet Propulsion, that's my name.

And travelling fast, that's my game.

Moving and reaction in the opposite direction

to the ejection of some high speed Jet Propulsion.

Jet Pro-- well, did I mention Bortron ?

That's where I'm from.

It's a slice of heaven.

Everyone there is sweet as cake.

| we don't mind if we make mistakes.

I like to leap before looking.

Dad likes Earthly cooking.

And Mom can drive a saucer like a hot rod too.

Wow.

The kid in the dog suit can really

play that accordion thingy.

Dr. Rafferty, I usually snooze through these things,

but not this year.

Your students intern seems so smart and capable.

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Especially getting that kid in dog suit.

Who is that singing kid?

His name Jet, Jet Propulsion.

He has a wonderful imagination.

We need more kids like him.

(SINGING) Jet Propulsion, that's our man.

Jet Propulsion, that's his jam.

(SINGING) Bortronian is what I am.

Yeah.

When you hear the sound of a fire engine siren,

you know that help is on the way.

But if you listen closely, you can

hear the sound start to change as the truck

gets closer and farther away.

[FIRE TRUCK SIREN]

Hi. I'm astronomer Amy Mainzer.

And today I'm at the Los Angeles County Fire

Department's training facility.

And I get to ride in a fire truck

to demonstrate something we call the Doppler effect.

[FIRE TRUCK SIREN]

As the truck drives by us, it's going to make

a sound like neeeroooom.

That's because sound travels in waves in the atmosphere.

As the truck passes, the sound waves get smooshed

together, so they sound higher.

And as the truck travels away from us,

the sound waves get stretched out and they sound lower.

[FIRE TRUCK SIREN]

When I'm in the fire truck, I'm moving

at the same speed as the siren so the sound stays the same.

So the next time you hear a siren,

think about the sound squishing and stretching

out as the firefighters are on their way to the rescue.

[THEME MUSIC] - (SINGING) Jet Propulsion.

Ready, Jet, go!

Jet Propulsion, Jet Propulsion, Jet Propulsion.

Ready, Jet go!
