This is the moment you've been waiting for.

I, Ethereen, the editor of Cyber Style,

will announce the name of the very talented designer

to work with the fabulous Fabio DeZine!

- That would be me!

- Mmm! Wish me luck.

- Take it from a cybird that knows fashion.

You don't need luck if you've got the talent.

- No one can touch your style.

- Fingers crossed!

- [Ethereen] Oh, wonderful!

[Fabio chuckling]

- Hey, boss, come on. They're going to announce the winner!

- He's standing right here.

- Really? Where?

[grunts angrily]

- Here!

The Hacker is the best fashion designer in Cyberspace.

Who wouldn't want to look like me?

- Well, there's Motherboard for one.

And I'm sure Jackie, Inez, and Matt wouldn't--

- The correct answer is everyone wants to look like me.

- [Ethereen] And now, let's the fresh new face of fashion.

- That would be me of course!

[dramatic drum roll]

[anxious whimpering]

- This is so nerve-wracking.

- [Fabio] And the winner

of this year's fashion internship is:

The Cyber Squad's very own...

- [Both] Jackie!

- [Fabio] From Earth!

- I won.

I won! I can't believe I won!

[all cheering]

- Oh! Look, look, look!

They're showing your designs.

- Your work is beautiful, Jackie.

Congratulations.

- Thanks, Mother-B!

- Not possible.

How could I lose to that Earth child?

- [Delete] I don't know, boss.

But her designs look really good.

- [Both] Mmm-hmmm.

- Mark my words, this is not over.

- [Digit] Wow, this place sure has changed.

- It doesn't look like the Factoria I remember.

- [Inez] It's gotten a lot greener

since the last time we were here.

- Greener and...

Whoa!

- [Inez] Wow!

- [Matt] Gee.

- This is Mr. DeZine's House of DeZine?

- Yep. This is the place.

- The gateway to your future.

[door creaks open]

- Hey, Cyber Squad.

- Zoreen!

We didn't think you got our message.

- Are you kidding?

And miss a chance to hang out with my favorite cyber heroes?

Inez. Matt. Dig. And the fashion queen herself, Jackie!

- Oh, no. I'm just going to be an intern.

Here to learn.

- Not just anyone's intern, Jacks.

Fabio DeZine is famous.

- I know.

I just don't want to disappoint him.

- You're gonna knock his socks off.

- Just be yourself. And you'll be great.

- Thanks. I'll try.

[exciting upbeat music]

[office sounds]

- Uh, excuse me?

Pardon me?

Oh? Uh, heh. Ooh.

Does anyone know where I can find Mr. DeZine?

[office sounds stop]

- [Fabio] Did someone say, "DeZine"?

- Yes. That was me, Mr. DeZine. I'm Jackie.

I'm honored to meet you.

- The honor is mine, Jackie.

Welcome to the House of DeZine.

[upbeat techno music]

Let's get you settled in.

This is where you'll be creating. What do you think?

- Great. I love it.

- I'm looking for a new line of children's clothing.

Something that kids your age would like to wear.

So, see what you can do.

- I can totally do that.

- Fabulous!

- At least I hope I can.

[gulps]

[chuckles]

[Rosie meows]

- How nice to see you all again.

Everyone still talks about your last visit here.

Especially Zoreen.

- Granny!

- Can we help?

- No need. We're almost done.

- These clothes are mine. Till I outgrew them.

- I thought they looked kinda small.

- Well, after we washed them,

we give them to other children who need them.

- It's important to reuse things.

Instead of just throwing them away. Am I right?

- Ooh! That reminds me. I made Rosie a gift.

I hope she likes it.

[bells jingle]

- If I know Rosie, she'll love it. Thanks, Inez.

- Here, Rosie!

[Rosie meows]

I brought something for you.

I made it from a spare sock.

[Rosie meows]

- Now this is snazzy.

- Try it on, Dig. If it fits, it's yours.

- Don't mind if I do.

Look at me. I'm fashion forward.

[all laughing]

[slow methodical music]

- Mmm?

[upbeat music]

- [Fabio] I understand you're ready.

I can't wait to see what you've got.

- And I can't wait to show you!

[projector beeps]

I call it, the sunshine sundress.

This sundress is made from the pedals

of the rare Sunshinian flower in Solaria.

The brightest material in Cyberspace.

Machines will pick the Sunshinian flowers.

And then ship the flowers to Factoria,

where they'll be made into fabric for the sundresses.

- Hmmm.

You've certainly made an amazing dress. Very creative.

But let me show you a few things, kay?

- Uh-oh.

- [Fabio] Solaria is , cybermiles from Factoria.

That's a long distance away.

Shipping material that far costs a lot of money,

uses a lot of fuel, and creates unwanted air pollution.

- I didn't think about that.

[computer beeps]

- [Fabio] Sunshinian is very pretty.

But it will take a lot of energy

to turn the flowers into fabric.

- Energy?

- Electricity. Water.

You need them both for the process to happen.

- I guess I didn't think about that, either.

- [Fabio] While the circles on your dress

make a lovely design,

My machines aren't built to make circles.

They only cut straight lines.

And, as you can see,

my garments are made of triangles and rectangles.

- Wait. Isn't that a square?

- Oh, you're fabulous, Jackie. Yes!

But a square is also a rectangle. A special rectangle.

Because all four sides are the same length.

As you know, all rectangles have four sides.

And four corners.

But the sides are not always the same length.

- And triangles have three sides and three corners.

- Correct!

[machines beeping]

- It looks like everything your factory

is made of triangles and rectangles.

- That's why everyone says,

"Fabio Dezine loves corners and lines."

- Oh, Mr. DeZine. I feel terrible.

I tried so hard to impress you.

But ended up making so many mistakes.

- You can't get better if you don't make mistakes.

Just learn from them.

You know, and stop trying to impress me.

Come up with something that impresses you.

Your inner-Jackie.

- I will, Mr. DeZine. Just wait. You'll see.

[muffled construction]

- Wow, what's going on in there, Dee-Dee?

- Don't know. The boss is up to something.

And I just want to stay out of his way.

- Good thinking.

[construction sounds stop]

- Uh-oh. You hear that?

- Hmmm. I don't hear anything.

- [whispers] That's the problem.

- [Hacker] Buzz! Delete! Get in here!

[Rosie meows]

[Digit chuckles]

- This is so exciting.

I get to see Jackie pace.

I can't wait to find out what she comes up with.

- Hmmm?

Oh!

[all gasp]

- Hmmm?

[all sigh]

Hmmm.

- Does Jackie do this all the time?

- Only when she has to come up with a plan.

And it looks like this plan isn't coming so easy.

- Hmmm.

- Please! Jackie's got this. Don't you Jacks?

- Well, let's see.

I came up with a design

that uses a rare plant that came from too far away.

Needs lots of energy to energy to turn into fabric.

And can't be made with Mr. DeZine's machines.

[groans]

- They're just problems, Jacks.

And problems are meant to be solved.

That's what we do.

- You're right.

Okay, what do we know?

- Hmmm.

[Rosie meows]

We know your design has to use materials that are close by.

- That don't need a lot of energy to produce.

Hmmm.

- [All] Hmmm.

- And they have to made with Mr. DeZine's machines.

- So, that's what we know.

[all grunting]

But what don't we know?

- We don't know where the fabric for your clothes

should come from.

- Right. So where should it come from?

- [Digit] Wow!

[Digit screaming]

Yikes!

[all laughing]

Thanks for the save.

- You're welcome.

Hey.

These clothes.

That's it!

Dig, you're a genius!

- I am? I mean, of course I am.

Eh, what genius thing did I do now?

- Eh, what is it, boss?

- What is it? What do you think it is?

- We have no idea.

- With my fashionitron,

not only will out design Fabio DeZine,

the entire cyber universe will be wearing my clothes.

[machines whir to life]

[ominous music]

- Look at me, Dee-Dee. I look like the boss.

- Me, too.

- Yes!

The look everyone wants.

- Do you think there's enough clothes here

for your new design?

- [Zoreen] More clothes for Jackie's big idea.

- Yikes!

- There are now. I just hope I can pull this off.

- Are you kidding? You guys could do anything.

The Cyber Squad never gives up.

- Thanks, Zoreen. I needed that.

Okay, let's get to work, people.

Divide up the clothes by tops and bottoms.

[upbeat techno music]

- [Jackie] Mr. DeZine, I'm ready to show you my new designs.

- You've my full attention.

- But, instead of showing you a drawing,

I thought it would be better if I showed you the real thing.

- Real is good. Okay, let's see what you've got.

- Introducing my friends, the Cyber Squad.

Hit it, Inez.

[energizing runway music]

- This outfit is made from repurposed fabric.

- Great.

- Fabric that used to be part of another outfit.

No extra water of electricity needed to make it.

- The fabric in this outfit is not only repurposed,

but it comes from right here in Factoria.

- No flights from far away places, no extra fuel,

no air pollution.

- Ah, beautiful.

- This jacket is made entirely of rectangles and triangles.

Nothing but corners and lines for Mr. DeZine.

- Okay, yes.

- And all of my designs

use squares, triangles, and rectangles.

- Genius! Ah, I knew you could do it, Jackie.

- We knew she could do it, too. Wah-hoo!

Whoa!

Whoa!

Look out!

Agh!

- Somebody get me a camera-bot.

Because I have a huge announcement to make.

[camera-bot whirring]

[chuckles nervously]

- Boss, I think you should take a look at this.

- What could there possibly be for me to look at?

- Oh, hello.

I, Fabio DeZine, am announcing a fashion show

to launch my new line of children's clothing.

Designed by our intern, Jackie!

- What!? He can't do that!

- Pretty sure he just did, boss.

- What are you gonna do?

- What am I gonna do? What am I going to do?

I don't know what I'm going to do.

But whatever I do, it's going to be very, very stylish.

[wicked laughter]

- Hello. Good to see you.

Welcome to Jackie's Fashion Extravaganza!

- Hi. I'm Jackie. The show will start very soon.

- Hello, Fabio darling.

- Ethereen. So glad you could make it.

- No way I would miss this.

Hello, Jackie. I'm Ethereen.

- I know who you are.

- I am, indeed.

- We'd better find Jackie and tell her.

- I'll get ready. I'm up first.

- Phase One of your plane is working, boss.

- She calls this fashion? Hmph!

She and everyone else will soon discover

what true fashion is.

You know what to do. Just do it quickly!

[audience applauding]

Today I have a special treat for you.

The innovative designs of my new intern,

Jackie from Earth!

[audience clapping]

This fabulous jumpsuit is made clothing

that has been repurposed

to be worn and enjoyed in a totally new way.

And shown to us today by Factoria's very own Zoreen!

[audience cheering]

And next, we have--

[music stops]

Uh? Next we, we have...

- Is there a problem?

- Problem? [clears throat] Of course not. Heh.

What could be the problem?

Um, everyone, please take a five minute intermission.

You won't believe what's coming out next.

Where are the models? The clothes!?

The audience is waiting to be wowed.

- Jackie's clothes are gone.

- Hacker is around here somewhere. We think he took them.

- Hacker took my clothes?

- Hello, folks! Buzz here! Sit back and relax!

It's time for the real show to begin.

[audience gasps]

- [Woman] It's Hacker. What's he doing here?

- That's the Hacker to you.

- You tell 'em, boss!

[upbeat runway music]

- You got the look, boss!

- Yes I do.

[audience groaning]

- Hacker's ruining my show!

I have to stop him!

- And we have to find my clothes.

- They can't be that far away. Hacker must've hidden them.

But where?

- Um, isn't everything in the factory

made of rectangles and triangles?

- Yes.

- So these three containers look like everything else

in the factory, but--

- I see where you're going, Zoreen.

These three containers are made of rectangles.

Which means they belong here.

- But this one is cylindrical. You know, round.

I doesn't belong here.

- We found the missing clothes!

- Make sure you get my good side.

[cameras flashing]

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

- Uh-oh!

Whoa!

- Oh, dear.

- Heh-heh, sorry.

- Whoa, whoa!

[Hacker grunts]

- [Buzz] Don't worry, boss, we've got you.

- Yep. Uh, who's got us?

[Delete screaming]

[audience gasps]

[Hacker groans]

- I'll be back.

[grunts]

- Ah, my apologies for the interruption,

ladies and gentlemen.

It's time now for the real fashion show!

And remember,

all of Jackie's designs are made from repurposed clothing.

Stepping out on stage is Inez.

And she is wearing a dress guaranteed to impress!

[audience cheering]

- Bravo! Magnificence!

- And here comes Matt.

He's is wearing a running suit

that is sure to win the gold medal.

- Oh, wonderful.

- [Fabio] And Digit is wearing a dazzling beanie

that tells everyone that he has a head for fashion.

[audience applauding]

And now it's time to meet the real star of today's show,

Jackie!

[audience cheering]

- [Audience] Jackie! Jackie! Jackie!

- You did it, Jackie. All it took was believe in yourself.

- And some repurposed clothes.

[audience cheering]

[upbeat techno music]

Designing for you was a dream come true.

- It is my dream that came true, Jackie.

Because of you, we have new line of children's fashions.

- Now that's what I call repurposing with a purpose.

- That's right.

Because the fabric is repurposed,

you won't need to use a lot of water and electricity

to make it.

- Also, because the fabric is from right here in Factoria,

you won't cause pollution getting it here.

- And the design uses shapes

that your machines already make.

- Thanks to you, Jackie,

our future is going to be both fashionable and sustainable.

- And I'll be here to make sure

Mr. DeZine always has enough clothes to work with.

- My local supplier? Excellent!

- Thanks, Zoreen. You'll be just like one of us.

- Really? An honorary member of the Cyber Squad?

Wow! I love you guys!

[all laughing]

- [All] Bye!

[laughs excitedly]

- Stay right where you are. It's "Cyberchase For Real."

[upbeat music]

- [Woman] Can you hand me the wrench, please?

- I call my mom, Ms. Fix-It.

Because she can fix just about anything.

I call my father Dad-The-Builder.

Because he can make almost anything.

He's going to recover that chair.

Because the seat is ripped.

Like you, we recycle lots of things.

Recycling is a way to help the environment.

But we also up-cycle.

Recycling is when waste products

are broken down to make something new.

Up-cycling is when you take something

that would be thrown away, and improve it.

To make it useful again.

Let me show you.

I call this my design center.

Filled with my pens and pencils. Markers and stickers.

It was pretty easy to make.

I used six clean soup cans. But you can use six of any can.

Be careful, the edges might be sharp.

I wanted to use my own decorative covers.

So I took a measuring tape, measured from top to bottom.

And around the center.

I used those measurements to draw a rectangle

on pieces of construction paper.

Then I cut out that shape.

One for each can. And I decorated them.

It's easier to decorate when the paper is flat

than on the can.

Then I used a glue stick to attack the paper to the can.

I put three cans as a base, and glued them together.

And then put the other three on top. In a triangle shape.

And I ended up with a pretty cool design center.

Another thing you can up-cycle are clothes.

These jeans were made in a far away place.

And it takes a lot of energy

to make and ship them to this country.

Why waste them?

So when I got too tall for these jeans,

my dad and I made this cute skirt out of them.

Before I throw anything away, I ask myself,

what could I make from that?

Most times I'm just decorating something.

Like this little mint case I use for paperclips.

But I've made bird feeders from coffee cans,

planters from plastic bottles,

and a handy pouch from an old back pocket.

You don't need a lot of instructions.

Just some imagination.

I love to see the things in my room that I make,

while helping the environment at the same time.

So before you throw something away, ask yourself,

what could I make from this?

["Cyberchase" theme music]
