A map to the secret location of the Program Proliferator.

-What's a Program Proliferator?

-When I worked for Motherboard,

Dr. Marbles and I created the Program Proliferator.

If her operating system were ever to fail,

it could reprogram her anew.

Marbles hid it in a secret location.

But when Motherboard banished me,

I took the map of the hiding place,

and amid the chaos of my unjust and unexpected exile,

I lost track of the map...

until now.

I'll be able to connect directly to Motherboard

and reprogram her to follow my every command.

[ Chuckles ]

-Boss, if you can do that,

you can control all of Cyberspace.

-Exactly.

-Let's go, Dragons!

[ Clapping rhythmically ]

-Hello, Dingerville.

As coach of your Dingerville Dragons,

I have one question for you.

Are you ready for the Junior Cyberspace Series?

-Yeah! Whoo!

-With that kind of enthusiasm,

we'll beat the Radopolis Raptors next week

and bring home the title to Dingerville.

to your captain and flamethrowing pitcher, Lefty.

[ Crowd chanting "Lefty!" ]

-Your dad did an awesome job

getting the field ready for the big game.

-He did a great job getting our team ready.

-[ Barks, panting ]

-Hi, Willie. Hey, Hank.

I see they're pumped, too.

-Everybody in Dingerville is.

-Alright, you ready to learn my secret pitch?

-I've been ready since you got here.

-Okay, but you've got to keep it a secret.

It's called the Big Dipper-oo.

-Then wind up,

and just before you let go of the ball,

-I'm pretty sure it's your Prolifer-majigger.

-Hey, Buzzy, we left the map down there.

-We got what we came for.

-[ Laughs maniacally ]

-I'm so excited, Dad.

Matt is meeting me to work on his special pitch.

-What? -No.

-My field. My beautiful field.

-Dad, what happened?

-I have no idea.

-Hey, what's going on?

-The field was fine last night.

-How are we gonna play our game?

Everything's ruined.

-Don't worry, Lefty. I'll call my team.

We'll fix this...somehow.

-Any idea how this happened?

-And why?

-Not a clue.

And there's no way I can get the field ready again

in time for the series.

-Can't the game just be moved to another Cybersite?

-No way.

It's never been played anywhere else.

We invented dingerball.

-Lefty's right.

Dingerball is what brings joy and pride to Dingerville.

It's what makes our little Cybersite special.

-We have to do something.

-I know, but, Matt, look at the size of this hole.

It could take forever to fill it.

-The series is next week.

What we need is a plan.

-What we <span tts:fontStyle="italic">need</span>is soil, and a lot of it.

This hole is huge.

It's more like Dingerville Canyon

than Dingerville Park down here.

It's already becoming a trash dump.

-It's time to reprogram Motherboard

and take control of Cyberspace.

-Boss, if I may.

Perhaps the username is incorrect?

-No, my username has always been, and will forever remain,

TheHacker, capital "T" and capital "H."

One word -- TheHacker.

-I got it. -No, <span tts:fontStyle="italic">I</span>got it.

[ Both grunt ]

-I got it.

-Okay, so, what do we know?

-We know the Junior Cyberspace Series

can't be played anywhere but Dingerville.

-And if we don't replace the soil in the ballpark,

the series is cancelled.

-Can't we just get soil from somewhere else?

-Didge, we can't just dig up the neighbors' yards.

-Jackie's right.

They need their soil to grow grass and gardens and flowers.

-Too bad we can't make our own soil.

-Lefty, that's it.

We <span tts:fontStyle="italic">can</span>make our own soil.

-Really? How?

-By composting.

My neighbor does it all the time.

It's a way of making soil from trash.

-You turn garbage into soil?

-From what I can tell,

everything my neighbors waste, they just toss in a pile.

Then voilà, it turns to soil.

-Sounds like a solution to me.

-Let's collect some garbage and try it out.

-Good job, guys, but this is hardly enough to fill the hole.

-Let me take a look in here.

I haven't cleaned out my hatch in ages.

And this litter I found in the hole today.

Hold it.

I've seen this before.

It's a map of where Dr. Marbles hid the Program Proliferator.

It went missing years ago.

-You think Dr. Marbles was here?

Motherboard always suspected Hacker had stolen the map.

-Hacker?! -Then Hacker made that hole?

Why?

-To find the Program Proliferator.

And if he did,

it means he now has the power to reprogram Motherboard.

-Not if I can help it.

Matt, Jackie, Lefty,

you stay here and figure out how to turn that trash into soil.

Didge, you come with me.

We're going to the Northern Frontier.

-For a new password, how about "doughnuts"?

[ Cellphone beeping ]

If you can get inside and distract Hacker,

I'll look for the main power switch and turn out the lights.

Then you can grab the Program Proliferator.

-Hmm. When is the trash gonna turn into soil?

-I thought it would happen by now.

I guess not.

-Maybe we did something wrong? -I think we need some help.

Skwaki, tell me about compost.

<span tts:fontStyle="italic">-Compost is made</span> <span tts:fontStyle="italic"> from organic materials,</span>

<span tts:fontStyle="italic">including things that</span> <span tts:fontStyle="italic"> once lived, especially plants.</span>

-That's what we did wrong. Not everything can be composted.

Only organic trash, like fruit and vegetable scraps.

-So to make compost, we need to remove the non-organic stuff,

like this old toy and a light bulb.

-Let's do it.

-Beak Squad, at your service.

I'm here to fix your computer.

-The Boss is busy.

-Too bad, because I'm here for the free tech support

your boss signed up for when he bought his computer.

-Did you say "free"? -I did.

You can start by unlocking my computer.

-Skwaki, we made a compost pile -- organic only.

Now what?

<span tts:fontStyle="italic">-A good compost pile should be</span> <span tts:fontStyle="italic"> made of three equal parts.</span>

<span tts:fontStyle="italic">Two of those parts</span> <span tts:fontStyle="italic"> should be brown matter</span>

<span tts:fontStyle="italic">and the other part</span> <span tts:fontStyle="italic"> green matter.</span>

-So three equal parts.

That's thirds.

-Exactly.

-Let's measure.

-How long is the table cloth, Lefty?

-Three cyberfeet long.

-Okay, we need three equal sections,

So each section should be one cyberfoot wide.

-There you go.

Three equal sections, one cyberfoot each.

-/ for brown stuff.

"B" for brown.

/ for the green stuff.

"G" for green.

-Awesome. Let's sort our trash.

-Okay, green matter are things like fruit and veggie scraps,

egg shells, and grass.

-This napkin goes into the brown section, right?

-Hmm, looks like we've got enough green matter,

but we sure need more brown stuff.

-It says here that brown matter includes things

like wood chips, leaves,

black-and-white newspaper, cardboard, and paper napkins.

-Other than the napkins, we don't have any of that.

[ Gate door opens ]

-Hey, g*ng. I'm afraid we're out of luck.

I couldn't find extra soil anywhere.

What's all this? -We're composting, Dad.

-We're making new soil to fix the field.

-I've been so distracted, I didn't even think of composting.

-The problem is, we don't have enough brown stuff for our pile.

-Wait. You're in luck.

I raked leaves yesterday.

-Leaves are perfect.

-Two parts brown, one part green.

Just the right recipe for compost.

-Not quite, Matt.

Compost piles need water, too.

Just enough to get damp.

-Water, coming up.

[ Grunts ]

[ Handle squeaks, water glugs ]

-Nice throw, Lefty.

-Thanks.

-Feels damp to me.

-Next, we need to add oxygen by turning the pile over,

so it can breathe.

Compost needs oxygen, just like people do.

This should do the trick.

-[ Barks, panting ]

[ Chomps ] -Willie, Hank.

-Guess we need to protect our compost from trash snatchers.

-The power switch has to be around here somewhere.

-We just need to reset your password.

First, we press control, alt, then delete.

[ Clank ] -Hey!

-Not <span tts:fontStyle="italic">that</span>Delete.

-Okay, this fence should protect the compost pile from animals.

-But when will it turn into soil?

-It says here, bacteria, fungi

and other microscopic organisms show up and eat the material.

When it leaves their bodies, it becomes perfect soil.

Ew, gross.

But it's also pretty cool.

-Cool, yeah, but, Jax,

it also says it's gonna take three to four months.

-Oh no.

-I think I have something to make this go a lot faster.

-Worms?

-Ah, but these aren't just any worms.

They're Wizardly Wigglers.

-Whoa.

-I use these critters to make the field's grass

look greener and grow faster.

-Dad, this is amazing. -It sure is,

but we need a lot more soil than this to fill that entire hole.

-Dad, what about our neighbors?

I'm sure they'd help.

They'd do anything to save the game.

-Good thinking, honey.

We can turn their trash into compost, too.

-Maybe, just maybe we would have enough soil then.

-Let's think this through.

Your house had cans of trash, right,

and there are houses on your street.

So if each house has cans of trash,

-And it looks like the neighborhood has five streets.

If all the streets are like Lefty's, that's , , ,

-Dad, how many neighborhoods do we have in Dingerville?

-Uh, .

-So if neighborhoods each have trash cans,

that's hundreds or , cans of trash.

-Imagine how much compost we could make with all that.

-Enough to fill the hole and save our game, I hope.

[ Gasps ] Dad, do we have enough worms?

-Yeah, I just got a new shipment last week.

-Let's e-mail everyone in Dingerville

and tell them to bring their trash

to the ballpark right away.

-Found it.

[ Electricity crackles ]

[ Electricity powers off ] -The power.

What happened?

Turn the power back on!

-Uh, right, Boss.

-We're on it.

[ Electricity powers on ] What?

You. -Got me, but I got this.

-[ Grunts ]

[ Groans ]

-Boss? -Boss?

-How long is the hole, Dad?

-Marking it off into thirds.

-Next, we need oxygen.

-The mixer's on the way.

[ Mixer whirring ]

-Do we need a fence to keep out animals?

-No fence needed.

The worms will do their magic in no time.

-Okay, Dingerville, on the count of three, dump your worms.

-Good news, Dingerville.

-Yeah, I always knew garbage could become something great.

-My cousin Kimmie helped me plant vegetables

in the community garden, and yesterday

I invited her over to eat what we grew.

-There is nothing better than a fresh salad for lunch.

-Except when you grow the ingredients yourself.

-Oh, look, here's a tomato that you grew.

-Wow. -There's more on the plant, too.

Wait. Don't throw that out.

-Why? -That's food.

-[ Chuckles ] Actually, that's food for the plants.

They love salad, too.

-But these are parts of the plants.

Can you please explain?

-Okay, when we prepare food to eat, what happens to the scraps?

-We throw them out. -Right, and where do they go?

-The garbage collectors take it away.

-Correct. They take it to an incinerator or a landfill,

and neither is good for the environment.

-So what should we do that <span tts:fontStyle="italic"> is</span>good for the environment?

-Well, we have a composter

for all of our fruit and vegetable scraps.

-What's a composter?

-A composter breaks down the parts

of the fruits and vegetables that we don't eat

and turns them into something nutritious for plants.

Let's go outside, I'll show you one.

Compost has ingredients that keep the soil healthy

and make plants grow better.

-What else is in compost besides the food scraps?

-There are two main ingredients --

green stuff and brown stuff.

There's / brown and / green.

They mix with air and water,

and that breaks them down into smaller parts.

-But some of these scraps aren't all green.

They're orange from the carrot peels,

red from the peppers and radishes.

-Greens are fruit and vegetable scraps and grass clippings.

Browns are things like dried leaves, twigs,

and things like corn husks.

-What's in the other side?

-This side has been working for a while

and is almost ready for the garden.

Want to see what it looks like?

-Oh, it's a little warm.

And, look, there's a worm.

Is he dessert for the plants?

-[ Chuckles ]

-No, we put worms inside of the compost

to get it ready sooner.

But there are millions of other little things

that you can't see which are helping the compost along.

-How can you tell which side of the worm

is the head and which is the tail?

-You tickle it in the middle and see which side laughs.

-[ Chuckles ]
