04x09 - Part of the Furniture/The Odd Ness Monster

Post by bunniefuu »

[Orli] My name is Agent Orli,

and this is my partner, Agent Ozzie.

This is how time flies.

Back to us.

We work for an organization run by kids

that investigates anything strange, weird,

and especially odd.

Our job is to put things right again.

[driving music]

[creature growling][gadgets zap]

[all] Whoa!

Whooo!

News time!

[zapping]

[growling][cheering]

[Orli] We are... Odd Squad.

[fast-paced music]

[Captain O] "Part of the Furniture."

Are you sure that's you, Orli?

[Orli] Yes, of course it's me!

Time Thief Terry zapped me into this thing!

Well, she's definitely "part of the furniture" now!

Ha, good one!

I don't get it.

What does "part of the furniture" mean?

It's a phrase we use here in the UK,

which means you fit in so well,

you're like furniture.

Hmm.

One Un-Clockinator, as requested.

Thank you, Onom.

[gadget zaps]

Phew, thanks!

Well, that's a story to tell at Kitten Society later.

Yep.

What's Kitten Society?

It's a club where you hang out with cute kittens.

Aww! Cute!

Wait, aren't you already a member

of Hang-Gliding Society?

Yes.

And Hopscotch Society, Cheese Society,

Art Society, and the Odd Squad Band.

I play trombone.

Oh, also Trombone Society.

Sounds like you have trouble saying no to things.

I say no all the time!

Agent Orli, could you help me?

Yes.

Follow me.

[Ozzie] What about Time Thief Terry?

He's in the interrogation room!

We have to go and question him.

I'll help Orwell real quick,

then come down to the interrogation room

for some Nice Agent/ Not Nice Agent!

What's Nice Agent/ Not Nice Agent?

It's when one of us acts like the villain's best friend

and the other one is really grumpy.

It confuses them,

and makes them admit all the bad stuff they've done.

Oh!

Clever.Yes, it is.

Except it doesn't work with just one agent!

[propulsive music]

[Orwell] Ah! There you are, Agent Orli.

What do you need, Agent Orwell?

It's quite simple.

The whole of H.Q. is powered by a watermelon.

Cool.

In Niagara Falls, we use a cantaloupe.

Delicious.

If the watermelon isn't replaced several times a day,

H.Q. powers down.

And if that happens?

Oddness will escape from our containment units

and spread everywhere!

Also, the vending machines will stop working.

This is serious.

Very! But I have an important appointment to get to,

so I need you to replace the watermelon.

Okay. When do I have to change it?

[Orwell] Let me demonstrate. The time is o'clock

because the small hand-- the hour hand--

is on the "."

[Orli] And the minute hand-- the long hand--

is on the top of the clock at "."

You need to change the watermelon at :.

That's when the hour hand

is halfway between the and the .

[Orli] And the minute hand is at the bottom of the clock.

No problem.Thanks, Orli.

Don't forget-- :!

Did you forget?

:!

I knew I chose the right person.

I still have plenty of time to help Ozzie

question Time Thief Terry before I change this thing.

[badge phone rings]

It's Orli!

[Onom] Orli, where are you?

We're waiting for you at Kitten Society.

That's now?

I mean...

that's now! I'm on my way.

And thanks again for volunteering

to bring the juice boxes this week.

What? I mean, oh yeah!

Of course.

Bye!

I'll see you at :.

[propulsive music]

Come on, Orli. Where are you?

Listen, either you start talking,

or I'm outta here!

Okay, Time Thief Terry,

we know you stole Big Ben,

the most important clock in Britain.

Actually, I think you'll find Big Ben

is the bell-- ding dong!

Hmm.

We have evidence.

This is before...

and this is after.

The sooner you admit it,

the sooner you can go.

We'll be here a long time, then!

'Cause I didn't steal Big Ben. [chuckles]

Your move, Agent Ozzie.

Time Thief Terry,

would you like a cushion for your chair?

Oh, yeah! That'd be nice.

There aren't any cushions!

Are you trying to do Nice Agent/ Not Nice Agent

all by yourself?

Oh, you could tell?

Yeah, 'cause you really need two agents for that.

You're taking too much on!

Let's role play!

I'll be Nice Agent,

you be Not Nice Agent!

[dramatic music]

[cat meows]Hey, everyone!

Thank you so much for bringing the juice boxes.

Saying "awww!" is really thirsty work.

No problem.

And you got here just in time for the kitten conga!

It starts at :,

and it's : now!

No, it's not. Look.

If it were :,

the minute hand-- the long hand--

would be at the ","

or minutes past the hour.

Okay, so what time is it?

When the minute hand is between two numbers,

you have to look for the minute dots.

It was :,

then :, :, :.

It's :!

Oh, no! That's two minutes till :!

That's when the watermelon has to be replaced.

But what about the kitten conga?

Ugh, I really don't want to miss that!

You know what?

The watermelon change can wait.

[power buzzes down]

Or not! Gotta run.

[dramatic music]

[computer] Warning! Power low!

Uh-oh![alarm sounding]

Warning! Power low!

Warning! Power low![splatting]

Power restored!Phew!

Just in time!Close one!

Now to help Ozzie question Time Thief Terry.

Orli, just a reminder

that it's Art Society in a few minutes.

Guess what we're painting.

Is it food again, Osgood?

You betcha! Oh, and don't forget--

you volunteered to bring the art supplies.

I sure did.

See you there.

See ya!

[badge phone rings]

It's Orli.

[Orwell] Hi, Orli.

Did the watermelon change go okay?

Absolutely! Not a problem.

But also, when are you back?

Hard to say.

My schedule is a bit up in the air at the moment.

Could you change the watermelon again

at : p.m., please?

It would be my pleasure.

Thank you for your service.

Over and out.

Bye.

I'll see you when the hour hand is on the ""

and the minute hand is on the "."

[dramatic music]

Let's keep going, Ozzie.

And remember, you're the Not Nice agent.

I'm not nice! I'm not nice!

I'm not nice!

That's it. Okay, here we go.

Hello there.

You can tell me-- Did you steal Big Ben?

Right, your go. Be Not Nice.

Tell us where you're hiding Big Ben,

or I'll be forced to ask you again!

but a teensy bit louder!

It's not working.

You know your problem, Ozzie?

You're just too nice!

[dramatic music]

Sorry I'm late, everyone!

Hey, Orli.

[power zapping, wheezing]

Oh, no! I gotta go!

Wait, you're leaving?

But it's your turn to paint the vegetable of the week.

Aw, man!

I really wanted to paint a potato.

But do I have enough time?

The minute hand-- the long hand--

is between the and the .

There's just over a minute

until the long hand reaches the ,

making it o'clock.

You know, I've never been a fan of minutes.

How many seconds is that?

There are seconds in a minute.

When the second hand-- this one here--

passes all of the dots,

a minute has gone by.

Which means it's now...

[power zaps]:.

Which means...

I only have seconds left to change the watermelon!

[power whooshing]

[dramatic music]

[computer] Power low! Warning!

Power low!Oh no!

Warning, power low!It's :!

Am I too late?

Warning, power low!

[music, alarm stops]

Huh. Maybe it's fine.

[computer] Security alert!

Or maybe not![people screaming]

Oddness escape! Oddness escape!

I'm gonna say definitely not!

Oddness escape, oddness escape!

Uh-oh![all screaming]

Oddness escape! Oddness escape! Sorry, Osgood!

Oh, no! So much oddness!

[screaming continues]

Orli! I don't think I'm supposed to be blue.

Sorry, Opie!

[zapping]

Thanks!

[alarm continues sounding]

[all screaming]

[Orli] I really should say no more often!

[screaming, chaos]

[gadget zapping]

[screaming continues]

[electricity buzzing]

[machine dings][computer] Oddness contained.

[power whirring]Power restored.

Sorry, everyone.

That was my fault.

I was too busy trying to fit in

and not be the odd one out as usual.

What are you talkin' about, Orli?

You fit in just fine.

I do?

Yeah, you're just like all the other agents,

always turning up, ruining our evil plans.

It's like you've always been here.

You're part of the furniture.

I know that one!

That means I fit in!

You certainly do.

Well, must be off. Time's tickin' on.

Not so fast, Time Thief Terry!

[dramatic music]

[tea pouring]

Cup of tea, Time Thief Terry?

Oh! Oh, yeah, that'd be great.

Thanks.

Biscuit?

Oh, lovely.

Thank you.

Ah, you're so friendly.

It's hard to believe you stole Big Ben.

I know!

Looks lovely in my garden.

Aha! So you admit it! You did steal Big Ben!

Aw, no!

You pulled the old Nice Agent/ Even Nicer Agent trick on me!

[both] We sure did!

Aw, Odd Squad!

[objects all whooshing, squeaking]

I joined because birds should fly,

not do jigsaw puzzles.

I joined because pretzels should not have feelings.

I joined because books shouldn't be making bagels--

[toaster dings][sniffs]

Oh, I hate that it smells so good!

We are...

We are...

We are...

-We are... -[all] Odd Squad!

[Captain O] Since the beginning of time,

-and we're talking way back, -[swords clacking]

we've been fighting odd.

In our spare time,

we also like to make pictures of ourselves.

I really like this one.

There's no case too big,

no case too small.

At Odd Squad, we do it all!

[birds squawking]

And yes, that is a flock of flying toast.

It's wheat bread, if you were wondering.

Join Odd Squad on the PBS Kids Games app

and you'll get top-notch training

in the secrets of Odd Squad,

including...

Odd Invasion,

what to do when your headquarters

get invaded by oddness.

You never know what sort of odd

is going to pop up next.

It might be flying goldfish,

It might be a random dance party,

it might be time sheep.

Here at Odd Squad, we have to be kind

and be prepared.

You can also stream Odd Squad cases

on PBS Kids.

What about that bus that's been doubled?

That's a double-decker bus.

Also a totally normal British thing.

[sighs]

Is that over there also a normal British thing?

[lightning zaps, crackles]

No, that's definitely odd!

Let's do this!

Odd Squad needs you!

And I need the lights off.

[lights zap off]

[flashlight dings]

Well, what are you waiting for?

Go!

[Captain O] "The Odd Ness Monster."

[French accordion music]

What seems to be the problem, ma'am?

She's a mime artist.

She won't answer.

Ma'am, you're not really trapped

in an invisible glass box!

Hang on, I have an idea.

[winking dings]

Oh look! I found the door!

You're welcome.

Let's go, Ozzie!

[glass bangs]Ow!

Orli, a little help here.

[straining]

[dramatic music]

[bell clanging]

Happy New Year's Day, agents! Happy New Year's Day!

To mark it, we're having a raffle.

Take a ticket, find an X, win the prize!

[gasping] I won!

Whoo-hoo!

Also, whoo-hoo! I won as well!

[bell dinging][all] Yay!

So, what's our prize, Captain O?

Follow me.

[operator] Lift going down.

So, where are we going, Captain?

A place where no one has been

in many a moon--

the depths of the sub, sub,

sub, sub...

sub, sub, sub, sub...

[operator] Doors opening.

...sub, sub, sub, sub,

sub, sub, sub...[both groaning]

sub, sub, sub, sub, sub, sub basement!

Ugh! What is that smell?

You'll see.

[creature snoring]

Behold, Odd Squad's stinkiest secret--

the Odd Ness Monster.

[Orwell] The Odd Ness Monster lives under H.Q.?

I feel like I should have known that.

[Captain O] The monster was here first.

We built H.Q. over her.

That way we're here to stop her when she wakes up.

To stop her from what?

Destroying the town.

Ahh!Agents, let me show you.

[Orwell] Worst prize ever!

[Captain O] The monster takes -year-long naps.

These controls will lull the monster back to sleep

for another years.

We just need two worthy agents to be here when she wakes

and send her back to sleep.

We're worthy!And agents!

Here's the instruction book.

[grunts]

[Captain O] Study it carefully.

If she wakes, we're in trouble.

According to the many books written about the beast,

between New Year's Day and December ,

the monster will wake up.

We just don't know which day.

A whole year? Down here? With that?

And if it wakes, it will destroy the whole town?

Seriously?

I'm always serious!

Carry on, agents.

All right, let's do this.

Yeah, let's save the town.

[both typing][monster snoring]

[dramatic music]

A bit of time later...

[monster snoring]

How long has it been?Forty-five minutes.

Ugh! We've got to get out of here!

We need to know when the monster will wake up

so we don't have to hang around all year.

Maybe we should look at some of the books

that Captain O mentioned.

We should call Library Agent Ook!

Ook? Really?

Ugh!Ugh!

[beeps][phone ringing]

Hi, quite busy right now. Call back later.

Ook, wait! We need you to look at

one of your Odd Ness Monster books.

What do you need to know?

And make it quick! I've got stamping to do.

Is there anything in there

about when the monster is due to rise?

Ooh! Apparently, it will wake up

at some point this year in the UK summer.

Now goodbye!

[intercom buzzes]

If it will wake up in the summer,

we can cross off the UK winter months--

January, February, and December.

We can also cross off spring,

March, April, May.

[computer beeping]

And autumn.

Or fall, as Orli would call it.

September, October, and November.

Which leaves the UK summer months!

June, July, and August.

The monster won't wake up until June.

That's one, two, three, four,

five months from now.

Let's get out of here!

Yeah!

[music playing]

[operator] Going up.

Doors opening.

[music continues]

Five months later...

Whoo! It's hot.

Yep! I do love summer.

Onom? Orwell?

It's June the st.

Isn't there somewhere you need to be?

Ugh!Ugh!

Ugh.

[Orwell] We've got to get out of here.

Let's call Ook again.

[phone ringing]

[beeps]These constant interruptions

are becoming quite annoying.

It's been five months!

There's no new information

about when the monster will wake up.

[Orwell] So we're stuck down here?

Wait, who wrote the book?

Thruggington Club Smasher.

Ook, can you bring him in?

[dramatic chord]

[Ook] Thanks for coming, Mr. Club Smasher.

My absolute pleasure.

[Ook] I have Agents Onom and Orwell on the line.

We're trying to figure out

when the Odd Ness Monster will wake.

Did you leave anything out of your book?

[Club Smasher] How dare you?

It's the second best-selling Odd Ness Monster book!

Actually...

there was one thing I didn't have room for.

What was the thing? What was the thing?

Ah, "The Odd Ness Monster

will rise in a month containing only days."

Does seem kind of important.

Will you hold, please?

[beeps]

August and July have days...

which leaves June as the UK summer month

with only days.

[Onom] But today's the first of June!

We could be down here until the th!

[beep]Mr. Club Smasher?

You said your book was the second best-selling one

about the Odd Ness Monster.

So, who wrote the best?

A wizard. A wicked, dastardly, awful wizard.

called Destructo.

Destructo McBaddington!

[thunder rumbles]

[dramatic music]

Sorry, are you Destructo McBaddington?

Oh, yes, dear, that's me.

Biscuit?

It'll turn you into a frog...

No, thank you.Fair enough.

I've got Agents Orwell and Onom on the line.

[Orwell] Hello, Destructo.

Hello.

We're trying to find out exactly

when the Odd Ness Monster will wake up.

It's on page of my book.

The monster will rise on the middle day of the week

and destroy the town-- whoopee! Ha ha!

And you sound happy about it.

Of course.

I've already started writing my next book,

"The Great Day the Town Was Eaten

By the Odd Ness Monster!"

Uh, thanks so much for your help, Destructo.

Yeah.[beep]

Okay, which day is the middle day of the week?

[Orwell] Well, a week is seven days long.

Orli told me that in Niagara Falls,

Sunday is the first day of the week.

Ah, but here in the UK,

where the monster is, the week starts on Monday,

which leaves Thursday right in the middle,

with three days before--

[Onom] And three days after!

So we just need to come back down here every Thursday

in June until the monster wakes up.

And today's Monday!

So we don't have to come back for another

one, two, three days!

Summer, here we come.

Oh, yeah!

[music playing]

[operator] Going up.

Two days later...

[rodents squeaking]

Good work, Agents.

Now, take Mrs. Stephens to the lab

for De-Gerbilization.

Destructo McBaddington is here

to see the Odd Ness Monster.

Now, if you'll excuse me,

I have stamping to do!

I want to watch her wake up and destroy the town!

But you're a day early.

Your book said that she will wake on a Thursday.

Oh, no, dear.

My book says she will wake on the middle day of the week.

Which is Thursday here in the UK.

Mm-hm.

[remote beeps]

Only if you count weekends, and everybody knows

that the Odd Ness Monster doesn't work weekends.

Well, you would know that if you read my book!

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,

Friday is the working week,

and Wednesday is the middle day!

That's today!Oh, no!

The monster might wake today!

Hahaha![all] Let's go!

[snoring]

[bell dinging][operator] Lift going down.

[Captain O] Faster, lift! Faster!

[operator] Doors opening.

Quick!

[steam hisses]

Keep up, you two!

[monster snoring]

Ha! I guess it wasn't today, after all.

[growling]Oh, no!

It is definitely today.

Come on, send her back to sleep!

The instruction manual! What do we do?

We really should have looked at this

when we had five months to do it!

Ooh.

Here. You take those; I'll take these.

[growling]

[both] Three, seven, star, carry the nine...

You had one job!

Yes, well, it was a hard job!

Come on![growling]

Ready, Onom?

[both] Three, two, one!

[machinery whirring down]

[lullaby playing][all] Awww!

[Orwell] That's so cute.

[monster yawning]

[lullaby continues]

It worked!

[yawns]Yes!

[Captain O] She'll sleep for another years.

[snoring]

[Onom] It worked a bit too well.

[Captain O] Let him rest. He deserves it.

[Orwell and monster snoring]

[upbeat music] [typewriter keys clack]

Welcome to Osgood's Imaginarium

of Culinary Delights!

Otherwise known as the break room.

This area of H.Q. is where agents come to relax,

have a break, and let Osgood--that's me--

cook for them.

A lot of agents ask me

how I make my fresh-socks- and-smelly-cheese toasty.

It's a secret family recipe.

But not my family, so I can tell you!

First, take your bread.

Now, I'm using brown bread.

Then, take a pair of socks.

Finally, add a big old slice of smelly Stilton cheese.

Voila!

Eww.

Something about this one doesn't smell quite right.

Osgood, have you seen my dirty green socks?

[upbeat music]

[Orli] Welcome to Odd Squad,

A Guide to Your Gadgets!

Behold the Portalinator!

Gadget number? Classified.

The Portalinator creates portals

into other worlds.

Goat World-- so dangerous!

Think Ice Cream World looks fun?

Think again![meows]

Weirdly enough...[erupting]

Danger World? Totally safe.

Oona went there last spring with her friend, Shelley.

Good times.

Remember, knowledge is power,

power is gadgets,

and gadgets is sunshine!

[giggles]
