04x03 - The New Ozzie/Bad-Luck-itis

Post by bunniefuu »

[Orli] My name is Agent Orli,

and this is my partner, Agent Ozzie.

These are my lucky sunglasses.

Back to us.

We work for an organization run by kids

that investigates anything strange, weird,

and especially odd.

Our job is to put things right again.

[dramatic music]

[wind whooshes]

Whoo!

News time!

[dramatic music]

[Orli] We are "Odd Squad."

[Captain O] "The New Ozzie."

[page flipping]

Oh hey, thanks for coming, Odd Squad.

What seems to be the problem, sir?

Well, this is my post box.

It's very nice.

The problem is every time I open it,

there's nothing inside.

If you're not receiving letters,

that sounds like a job for the post office, not "Odd Squad."

No sorry, I mean, there'snothinginside.

[abrupt dramatic tone]

See?

A swirling vortex of nothingness.

[vortex humming]

Ah, definitely a job for Odd Squad.

[bell chiming]

Stand back and cover your eyes.

And your ears.

[laser whirring]

Try now please, sir.

[door squeaking]

Hey! [laughing]

Thanks, Odd Squad!

Happy to help.

Have a good day.

This will be about a job I applied for.

-[abrupt dramatic tone] -[vortex humming]

[logo whooshing]

-Here we are, Opie. -[bell chiming]

[phone ringing in background]

First day running the Department of Help. Are you ready?

I certainly am.

Because if you're not ready,

I could cancel all my important agent duties

to show you the ropes again.

It's fine, I am totally ready.

Great, me too.

Absolutely ready.

Do you have my official Department of Help lanyard?

Oh, yes.

Ah, I still remember when I made this lanyard

and then gave it to myself.

And now you're giving it to me.

[gentle pensive music]

Thank you.

Congratulations, you're officially Head of Help.

Your first duty-- prepare the shepherd's pie.

It's the Odd Squad's shepherd's snack time.

-Morning. -Morning.

-Good morning. -I'm on a case.

Good luck, Opie.

Call me if you need me.

[logo whirring]

A little later.

[Orli] I never thought

you'd actually leave your old job behind, Ozzie.

How'd it go?

So, we're closing a portal?

Yes, so the Planet Eater doesn't come through it.

When you say Planet Eater...

Whoa!

It eats planets.

[Planet Eater rumbling and growling]

And also fish and chips.

Right, let's get to work.

[Ozzie] Ah,

so we're building the gadget that zaps the portal closed.

Onom set that up earlier.

[air whooshing]

[Ozzie] Whoa!

[Onam] Ah, building that was a one-person job.

Putting together the gizmo you use to activate it,

-that's a three-person job. -[exciting ringtone]

I'll just take this call really quickly.

[phone chiming]

Agent Ozzie speaking.

Hi Ozzie, it's me Opie.

So I'm just trying to set up a Lightning Challenge.

A what?

You know, a Lightning Challenge,

where people fire lightning at each other.

But I can't seem to find Onom's...

[gasping] Lightning Gloves!

Never mind, found them.

Opie, listen to me.

-[Opie] All good. -[phone beeping]

No, not all good.

-Opie, what do you-- -[signal beeping]

Uh, would it be alright if I left immediately?

It's a bit of an emergency, a lot of one actually.

Okay, but hurry back! This is a three-person job!

Won't be long!

[sighing] You're quite calm considering, you know.

[Planet Eater rumbling and growling]

Oh, I always work in extra time for things like this.

Picnic?

[fluttering ascending music]

Ooh, delightful!

[logo whooshing]

-[Opie] Nice try, try again. -[lightning blasting]

Whoa, whoa, please stop blasting lightning!

Thank you!

They're never gonna get any better

if you don't let them practice.

Opie, what's going on?

You said to make a shepherd's pie,

but you should have said to make two shepherd's pies

because they are two shepherds.

But, why the Lightning Challenge?

I thought whoever won the Lightning Challenge

could have the shepherd's pie.

Opie, Lightning Challenges

should not be used to solve snack-based disputes.

You can just split the pie in half--

then there's two equal portions, one for each shepherd.

We can use the Halfinator.

It divides objects into two equal pieces.

Try it.

[gentle curious music]

[Halfinator whirring]

See, two pies.

That works.

Thanks, Ozzie.

Anytime.

And no more Lightning Challenges.

[logo whooshing]

I'm back!

[Onom] Now that the three of us are here,

let's get the activation button ready.

We need to get it connected to this dish

before the planet gets eaten.

[exciting ringtone playing]

I'm so sorry.

[phone chiming]

Hi Ozzie, just a quickie.

Where does Onom keep his Laser Gloves?

What?

[Opie] You know, gloves that blast lasers.

I need them for a Laser Challenge.

Opie, why on earth are you--

Never mind, found them!

All good.

No, not all good.

-Opie? -[phone beeping]

[Agent Ozzie sighing]

[phone snapping]

I'm so sorry,

I just need to pop back to Headquarters for a minute.

Now? We're in the middle of a three-person job!

-I know, but-- -No, don't do that!

It's a three-person job!

-Sorry! -Mind the picnic!

[Agent Orli and Agent Onom groaning]

[logo whooshing]

[laser blasting]

[items crashing]

[Ozzie] Stop lasering!

-[laser blasting] -[Agent Ozzie gasping]

Sorry.

Ozzie, what are you doing here?

What are you doing here?

Laser Challenge, of course.

Because four scientists each

asked me for a piece of paper,

but there was only one piece of paper left.

How's there only one piece of paper left

in the whole of Headquarters?

I made origami cranes for everyone, so no more paper.

But Opie--

You said no more Lightning Challenges,

but you didn't say anything about a Laser Challenge, so.

Okay, but why not use the Halfinator, like before?

[Halfinator whirring]

That's just two pieces.

Right, so then you can use the Halfinator again.

If you split these two pieces of paper in half,

you'll have...

[Halfinator whirring]

Four pieces of paper!

[all] Ooh!

Okay, I get it now. I won't call again today.

Opie, no more lasers.

Now, I really have to sort out this Planet Eater.

Okie-dokie.

-[tense suspenseful music] -[logo whooshing]

Oh no!

The rain's getting into my keyboard!

[buttons clicking]

[Ozzie] Sorry, guys!

Get to station two!

Quick, quick, quick!

Don't worry, I think Opie's starting to get it now.

Although just be sure, I might just give her a call.

[both] What?

Ozzie, there's a giant Planet Eater

that's about to swallow our planet,

and if we don't do anything, it'll swallow our planet whole.

Okay.

Ozzie, we need to get this button assembled now!

Alright, grab your activation knob.

When we turn them at the same time,

the transmitter will fire a beam into the portal

and slam it shut.

Okay, ready?

-[both] Ready! -Fire in three, two--

-Sorry! -[air whooshing]

I have just one more question.

[both] No!

Not now, Opie.

It's just a really quick thing.

Ozzie, Planet Eater!

[Onom] Ozzie, we really need to get this button assembled now.

The Planet Eater is right there.

[Planet Eater growling]

[tense suspenseful music continues]

I'll be really, really quick.

Come on, let's go!

[Planet Eater squelching]

Wow, I didn't think he'd actually go.

[bell chiming]

What is that?

A Fish-and-Chips-Inator!

It might hold it off for a little bit.

[Fish-And-Chips-Inator whirring]

[Planet Eater screeching]

[lasers blasting]

[team] One, two, three, four,

five, six, seven, eight!

Opie, I said no Lightning Challenges,

no Laser Challenges.

[Opie] Right, which is why I combined them

into a Laser-Lightning Challenge,

a totally different thing.

Everybody, please put down your laser and lightning.

[Opie] The Odd Squad cheer team

need a flag each-- that's eight flags.

I could only find one huge flag.

Okay, um, did you--

Yup, I used the Halfinator to divide it into two,

just like with the shepherd's pie.

But then did you--

Yup, I used it again to divide those two flags into four--

[air whooshing]

Just like with the paper.

So, if you could just fix this problem?

[pensive ascending music]

No.

Huh? But--

I'm not going to help you, Opie.

I chose you for this job

'cause I knew you were a great helper

who could solve problems.

I am.

I come across a problem, I call you, then you solve it.

But that's not helpingyou.

I need to let you step up.

You've got this, Opie, I believe in you.

Wait, if I halve these four flags,

there'll be eight flags

and that's the number of cheerleaders!

That's it, you've got it.

[Opie] And then I could use the Halfinator again

to make flags, and again to make , and then !

Eight is perfect.

Wow, so this is the Mystic Glade?

Sounds really questy.

Almost too questy.

Maybe we should turn back.

What? No, we need to help Ozzie.

Come on. What's the first ingredient we need?

A blade of magical grass.

How are we supposed to find that?

There's blades of grass everywhere.

Maybe that wizard can help.

I am wizard Wayne, Guardian of the Glade.

Hi Wayne, we're here to collect a magical blade of grass

for an antidote to cure our friend.

Ah, then you've come to the right place.

[spell poofs]

Ooh, nice wizarding.

Whoa, not so fast.

You have to pick the right blade of grass.

Only one's magical, and if you pick the wrong one,

it'll turn you to stone. [laughs]

Seriously?

Sorry, peeps, all part of the job.

I think this might help.

In my book, it says that the magical blade of grass

is inches long.

[Orli] So we need a tool to figure out how long things are.

[Agent Orli grunts]

A ruler? Nice.

Now we just need to measure the blades to get the right one.

Okay, this one's inches.

[Osgood] It's too long.

[mysterious music]

Eight inches, too short.

-Dragon? -Yep.

Well, that sounds about right,

but I definitely didn't see any dragon.

That's because the dragon's invisible.

-[dragon growls] -Let's go, quick.

The next ingredient is a magic pebble.

Did someone say magic pebble?

For I am wizard Jane, Protector of the Pebbles.

She reminds me a lot of the Guardian of the Glade.

Oh, Wayne? That's my brother.

Taught him everything he knows.

Now, looking for the pebbles, you say?

[Osgood] Yes, that's right.

[spell poofs]

Although there is an unexpected twist,

Is it that only one is magical

and if we pick the wrong one, we turn to stone?

Oh, yes! You know, Wayne got the idea from me.

He is such a copycat.

We're gonna have to measure the pebbles too.

On it.

Hang on, it says in my book

that the magic pebble is the same weight

as my Odd Squad badge.

So we need a tool that measures weight,

which is how heavy something is.

Then a ruler won't work

And you'll also have to know how much your badge weighs.

And let me guess, you don't know.

No, we don't know what the badge weighs,

but we have a balance scale.

This will show us which pebble's

the same weight as the badge.

-[puzzling music] -[pebbles clattering]

If the pebble's lower than the badge,

then it means it's heavier.

[puzzling music]

Hmm.

[Orli] When we put this pebble on the other side of the scale,

the two plates are at the same height.

That means the things in each plate are the same weight.

Are you sure?

Yes. We pick this one.
