the front of this house look spooky here.

Meteorologist.

Al: Wow! It's like looking in a mirror.

[laughing]

Dot: Happy Halloween, Cumulus!

[barking]

Al: You know, I was about your age

when I got my first plaid jacket, Lily.

[barking]

Al: Oh, my gosh.

It's the entire city fire department

Our fearless first responders.

Lily: Cool hat, Cumie!

And just look at you two.

Al: Al Hunter, the meteorologist of course.

Lily: No. I'm Al Hunter, the meteorologist, of course.

Lily: Whatever the weather,

Lily/Al: We're in it together.

Lily: Right, Cumie?

Lily, where's your sister?

Corky: I'm not her sister.

I'm Recycle Girl.

[cheers]

Lily: Go, Corky!

Corky: I'm going to save planet Earth.

Benny: I'm going to save people too,

in my fire truck.

Benny, you're another fearless first responder.

[siren]

A much louder one!

Benny: That's how people know I'm coming to rescue them.

Corky: They're going to know it, all right.

Dot: Oh, by the way, Corky,

here's the map of all the houses that are giving candy this year.

Corky: Thanks, Mom.

Let's see now.

Corky: I know where all the best treats are.

Lily: So, let's get going then.

Al: Hold on, just a minute.

I want to go to the Vansformer to check some readings first,

as preparation for our special Weather Hunters Halloween Report

so everyone knows what to wear.

Dot: That' s fine, Al.

I can take the kids, and you can join us later.

Benny: Come on, Cumulus, let's go put out a fire.

Oh, no.

My costume broke. Don't worry.

Dot: Don't worry, I can fix that.

But it may take a few minutes.

Corky: Then can Lily and I just go now, please?

I've heard Ms. Joyce has the best treats and

and I want to get there before she runs out.

Corky: I promise, promise, promise to be super careful.

Corky: And the streets are close traffic for Halloween.

And only take treats that are wrapped.

Not yet, Mr. Firefighter.

First, we've got to fix your truck.

Corky: Let's see now. Where to start?

Lily: Wait. Recycle Girl?

How about letting meteorologist, Al Hunter,

collect some weather data first?

Corky: Okay, okay.

As long as it doesn't take too long.

Corky: I want to try out my new weather kit.

According to my digital thermometer,

the temperature is °F.

And my brand new hygrometer.

Corky: You're so “Al.”

Lily: I know.

Anyway, the hygrometer says the humidity is %.

Corky: Humidity means how damp the air feels, right?

Lily: Right.

It's how much water is in the air.

Corky: Great.

Now, I hear they're going to give out

a box of Swizzits

for every kid who trick or treat at this house tonight,

and then hopefully, we can get a whole bunch

of Bubble Drops there too

Okay, first stop, Ms. Joyce's house.

Follow me.

Lead on, big sis.

Dot: There. All back together.

Benny: Now, can we go?

Dot: Let's go outside and see what's keeping your dad.

[sigh]

Benny: Okay.

But I hope he's ready to go with us.

I've got to go rescue people and get a lot of treats.

Whoo! Yay!

That sure is a friendly witch.

Lily/Corky: Trick or treat!

Ms. Joyce: Al Hunter, is that really you?

Ooh, you're my favorite meteorologist.

But you do look a lot shorter in person.

No, it's me.

Lily Hunter.

Ms. Joyce: Haha! My, my, my.

You had me fooled.

Lily: Your costume is great, too, Ms. Joyce.

You look just like a witch.

I mean, a really nice Halloween witch.

Ms. Joyce: And you look exactly like your dad,

Ms. Joyce: Judging from that symbol on your costume,

I would say that you're a young lady

who is super proud to be a person who recycles.

Corky: Absolutely.

Ms. Joyce: Hm.

But where are your parents?

Where's Benny?

Corky: Oh, we were excited to get started with our trick

or treating, so we left early before they were ready.

They're meeting us soon at the house with the green gate.

Ms. Joyce: Oh, okay.

Well, it's certainly going to

be treats for the two of you.

Lily: Oh, wow! Thank you!

Corky: Thanks!

Ms. Joyce: And when the treats are gone,

you've got your own little piggy banks.

Or rather, pumpkin banks.

[laughing]

Gotta set up for the Weather Hunters'

Ghoulishly, Good Halloween weathercast,

after all the treats are in!

Temperature is degrees.

Humidity, %.

Al: Very little wind speed.

Just a light breeze.

Hm.

Seems the temperature is dropping slightly,

and the humidity is climbing.

Hm.

Something's up.

Lily: Where to now?

Corky: That's the house that has those really great Swizzits.

Lily: I love those.

Corky: And that's straight down this way.

Lily: Lead on Recycle Girl.

[shivers]

Corky: Whoa!

I think it's gotten cooler.

Maybe it's time for Al, the meteorologist, to check.

Lily: Yes, degrees.

A little cooler than before.

Want to wear my jacket?

Corky: No thanks, Al.

I'm fine.

On to those tasty Halloween treats!

Jack-O-Lantern: Happy Halloween!

[gasp]

Corky: Oh, it's okay.

Lily: Just a talking Jack-O-Lantern.

Corky: Happy Halloween!

Lily: Must be a new neighbor.

Corky: Yeah.

She's not on the map.

Lily: Hm, the air feels even cooler now.

It's very damp, too.

Corky: Yeah.

Lily: Let me measure the temperature and humidity again.

Lily: Yep.

The temperature went down even more.

And the humidity is now %.

That's a lot of water in the air

Corky: Hey, are you going to be warm enough?

Lily: Of course.

Chilly Halloween weather like this

is perfect for trick or treating

Corky: Our next house is just around the corner.

Dot: Al, are you ready to go yet?

Al: Not yet.

This combination of lower temperatures and high humidity

definitely signals fog rolling in this eve--

Oh, my.

I hope that's not going to cause problem for Corky and Lily.

Dot: Fog?

Corky: Okay.

Those Swizzits are right over-

Corky/Lily: Whoa!

Lily: What's happening?

Corky: Yeah, it's getting hard to see.

Lily: It's fog.

That looks cool.

Corky: Yeah, and it feels cool, too.

But it looks sort of spooky.

Lily: I wonder where it came from all of a sudden?

Corky: I can see the map.

But it's harder to see the houses clearly now.

Lily: It feels like it's gotten even colder.

That's going up to as humid as it gets.

Corky: We told Mom and Dad that meet them at the house with the

green gate in ten minutes.

Ooh, the air feels so cool and damp

Corky: Maybe this way to the green gate.

It's sort of like mist.

Corky: Yes, maybe. I think?

Lily: I wonder why the air feels so damp.

I want to take a closer look.

Corky: What?

Lily: Flex-Specs, activate.

Magnify.

[gasp]

Whoa!

Corky: Lily, you've got to-

Lily: Flex-Specs,

increase magnification.

Lily: Corky, there are

a lot of tiny water droplets in the air.

Look.

They're everywhere.

So, that's what fog is made of.

Corky: And that's why it feels so damp.

Benny: Hey, what is that, Mommy?

It looks like clouds on the ground

Al: That's a great observation, Benny.

That is fog.

You see, fog is really a cloud, just at ground level.

Makes it a little harder to see.

Let's go meet Corky and Lily.

Benny: Yay!

[barking]

Should I go get Cumulus?

Let's leave him inside for now.

We'll get him after we get your sisters.

Okay.

Yay! Trick or treat time!

Al: Dot, where did we say we'd meet up?

That house with the big, green front gate?

Dot: Yes, but it just may be a little harder

to find in this fog.

Lily: It's so magical.

Corky: We've just got to find a way to that house

with the green gate.

Okay. Okay.

I think it's this way.

Corky: Let's go.

Al: Hi, Ms. Joyce.

Did you see Corky and Lily

come this way?

Ms. Joyce: Yes. Corky and Lily did come by earlier,

and they said that they were meeting you

at the house with the green gate

[siren]

Oh, my.

I'm going to go help find them.

I'm a brave firefighter.

Well, here's your pumpkin treat, young firefighter.

I always like to take care of our first responders.

don't help us see in the fog.

I'm sure we're almost there.

Al: Corky!

Dot: Lily?

Benny: Happy Halloween to you, too, Mr. Jack-O-Lantern!

Benny: Wow!

Al: Why did the skeleton sit down?

Because she's bone-tired.

[laughing]

Benny: Good one, Dad.

Dot: Ghosts sure do look spooky in this fog.

Al: The fog makes them look even more Halloweeny.

Benny: They look cool.

Corky: Look!

The house with the green gate!

Lily: Great! I knew we'd find it!

Corky: No, it's not the green gate.

It's just a wooden fence.

Lily: It's so hard to see through fog.

I don't think I know where we are

I'm sorry, Lily.

Lily: That's okay, sis.

Corky: But I've gotten us lost.

This map doesn't really help

when we can't see where we're going through this fog.

Lily: Don't worry.

I'm sure you'll find us.

But if we shine the light down by our feet,

we can at least see what's right in front of us.

Corky: Benny!

Lily: Mom! Dad!

Dot: It's the girls, Al!

They must have heard your siren, Benny.

Press it again.

Al: Lily! Corky!

Dot: We're here.

Corky: It's Mom and Dad.

Lily: We hear you.

Corky: We're coming!

Al: There you are.

Corky/Lily: Yay! Whoo-hoo!

Al: Whoo!

All: Yeah! Whoo-hoo!

Dot: I'm so relieved we found you.

Are you girls okay?

Lily: I'm always A-okay when I'm with my big sister

and my weather kit.

I did it. I did it.

I helped find them.

Dot: You sure did, Firefighter Benny.

Corky: I had the map, Mom, but I couldn't use it

because of the fog.

Dot: Yes, I know.

Al: It's okay, sweetheart.

Corky: Lily's taught me so much about it, though.

Fog, I mean.

Lily: Yeah, Dad.

I got to use my weather kit, for real.

Al: Well, I can't wait to hear what you've learned.

And maybe you can tell everybody in our special Halloween

weathercast later tonight.

But first, family,

maybe we should get some trick or treats together,

even in the fog.

Corky: Yes!

Lily: Let's do it.

Corky: Wait, look!

Lily: The green gate!

You did it, Corky.

We weren't lost after all.

Benny: Yay!

Corky: Hey!

The fog is gone.

Lily: Great.

Corky: Let's go get the rest of those great treats.

Benny: Treats, treats! No tricks! More treats!

Lily: How did the fog go away so fast like that, Dad?

Al: How about you consult your

weather kit for a possible answer?

Good idea.

Let's see.

Lily: The temperature has gone up a little bit.

It's degrees.

Yes, it does feel a little warmer now.

And a lot less damp.

Al: Okay.

Lily: The humidity is down to %

And so?

Well,

higher temperature, lower humidity,

no more fog.

Al: Well, I guess you really are a meteorologist.

Now, how about those treats?

Corky: Yeah!

Corky: I'm sorry I got us lost.

Lily: It was the fog, sis.

Corky: But, I mean, I'm the big sister.

[siren]

Benny: And I helped rescue both of you.

Dot: You sure did, Mr. First Responder.

[laughing]

Al: Come on, troops.

We need to be heading home.

Al:And for more on the Halloween fog that surprised us all.

Tonight, we learned that

when the temperature goes down, you know, it gets colder.

And as the humidity goes up, there can be fog,

which is made of teeny, tiny droplets of water in the air.

Also, fog can make it harder to see what things really are.

Corky: Like a ghost! Boo!

Or like a house on a map.

But you can still see your little

sister if she's standing right next to you

I mean, little Al and Recycle Girl.

One other big takeaway, folks, is that fog

can come and go quite quickly sometimes.

But it sure didn't stop

our Halloween fun tonight.

Only delayed it a little and made things a bit

more ghoulishly spooky and fun.
