This is the ultimate test to find out
which one of you is next in fashion.

Like, fashion kinda came to me, you know,
and it, like, kinda saved my life,

so I feel like this is me putting in
all that work and those hours.

For the grand finale,
we are asking each of you

to put together
a full collection of your own.

Oh my God.

You each need
to conceive, design, eight looks.

[Gigi] And the final one
has to be a real showstopper.

We want each of your shows
to go out with a bang.

should represent you and your brand.

they all need to be cohesive

[Bao] You know, I grew up with nothing.

Competing in an industry that...
it just requires so much money,

and my girls get to see me, like...

I love that I get to represent
not just a woman, but, like, a mom.

You don't have to just choose

change your life?

It would mean so much,
like, to be able to not struggle,

I'll be able to leave my nine-to-five

Do the people in your law office
know that you design?

They do 'cause they always ask me
to tailor something or fix something up.

to design and create an entire collection.

It would be physically impossible

to pull off a runway-worthy collection
in this timeframe,

so, during your workdays,

you will each have a team of three sewers.

-I don't have to do it myself? [laughs]
-This weight just lifted. [laughs]

But you cannot consult with them
on creative choices.

This is your collection.

You have to make every one
of those decisions.

-Gotcha.

Who do I want to open?
Who do I want to close?

[Deontré] Growing up, as a kid,
I always felt out of place.

I always wanted
to do artsy stuff and dancing

and playing with Barbie dolls.

I didn't wanna be judged.

And I always had
to kinda, like, camouflage myself,

and I really hated pretending.

The way I'm gonna show
that I'm no longer camouflaging myself

is to make this collection
larger than life.

I'm gonna reimagine streetwear,

and I wanna take streetwear
to a futuristic point of view,

where it's next level.

It's not just your typical streetwear
that you see on the streets.

Everything is gonna be oversized and big.
It's just gonna represent me.

For my finale piece, you already know
that I'm bringing the drama out.

-[laughs]
-[upbeat music playing]

♪ How did we get this so right... ♪

[Bao] My collection is inspired,
basically, by armor.

Like, I've been fighting for everything

since the day I was born
into a w*r-torn country,

coming to a new country,
not speaking a stitch of the language,

and competing in an industry
that is a rich-kid sport.

So always fighting.

As a woman, as a mom, as a daughter,

I wanna empower women
with the wardrobe to take on the world

and feel like the superhero
of every single aspect of their life.

[Nigel] I'm going in the route
of being inspired by Woodstock.

[classic rock music playing]

[Nigel] Woodstock was a place

where people searched
for acceptance and belonging,

and that was something
that I searched for as a kid

for a very long time.

When I moved to Atlanta,
I got into design school,

and I started listening to Jimi Hendrix.

That was when I was really starting
to feel like I belonged,

and I was really finding myself.

It's a crazy feeling to be here,
you know, in the finale

as a predominantly streetwear
menswear designer.

You know, like,
I didn't see myself getting this far.

[hip-hop music playing]

Being a streetwear designer
in, like, a very technical industry,

people try to downplay me.
Like, "There's a weak side to him."

My patchwork detailing
is so a part of my history

and so much of who I am.

First, we got the denim couch.

Making it to the final
is just, like, reassuring,

like, "Keep being yourself."

"Make sure that your patchwork
is being seen on a whole 'nother level

'cause the world needs to see it."

[upbeat music playing]

-[Nigel] Yo.
-[sewer] Hi, guys.

-[Bao] Hi!
-Hi!

-[Nigel] Hey, what's up, y'all?
-Hey, how's it going?

I am so excited
we have the all-female team

'cause my whole collection
is all about female empowerment.

I know that I can
drape dresses really, really fast

and get my team going
on the pieces of that,

and so I'm gonna be leaving
the pattern-making stuff for the next day.

Then we can start
cutting and sewing right away.

-Okay.
-My specialty is, like, puffer coats.

-We'll be stuffing lots of things.
-[laughs]

I definitely don't have experience
with leading a team.

The game plan for me
is creating the patterns for you guys.

So this is gonna be
a new experience for me.

I do a lot of, like, patchworking.

Some things might need to be hand sewn.

Some might need to be braided.
Does anybody know how to braid here?

-Yep!
-I do.

-Word. That's perfect.
-[laughing]

It's gonna be super difficult for me

trying to translate my language
to somebody else.

The rest of the designers,
they can just pull a fabric off the roll

and just get to sewing up.

Do you wanna build the fabrics first,

or you wanna build the fabrics
to the pattern?

[Nigel] I usually get my base right,
and then we'll have our patterns ready,

and then that's when
we can start doing the fabrication.

-Yeah.
-Okay.

For me, I gotta
basically make a textile from scratch.

It could be denim, lace, and some fur,
and it can look super messy.

There's a science to this, and you gotta
just flow with it and just trust it.

-Ready to get to work?
-[team] Yeah!

We got a lot of things to do.

-[Deontré] Hey!

What's the story?

It's representing me
kinda, like, taking on the spotlight.

I've always had to camouflage my life,

and I want this
to represent me stepping out in the world,

just like, "Bam! Here I am."

My plan of attack
is to make a bunch of pieces.

I'm gonna be creating

a lot of puffer vests, puffer pants,
and puffer jackets,

some two-tone pants, Sherpa vests,

and also some gathered
black leather pants.

So, on the runway day,
I can piece all these things together.

If I don't like it,
I can switch it here, switch it there,

and I know
that eventually it's gonna work.

I'm gonna probably create ten looks,
see which works best.

-And then style them.
-Yeah.

You're setting yourself up
to quit that nine-to-five...

-Yes.
-...and to be a creative director.

Yes, so I'm not playing any games.

-[laughs]
-At all.

I just started designing clothes
back in 2010.

Fresh outta high school,
and I loved everything about it.

But then, losing both parents,
I fell out of love with it, you know.

I got a regular job
working this nine-to-five,

just behind the desk,
and it just put me in a box.

I lost that momentum
to be a designer, to be creative.

Being here, I got that back.

I love this machine.

I definitely
stepped out my comfort zone a lot.

I've learned how to be a team player,

and just knowing
that there's other people that's like me.

Oh my God, I'm so proud of us.

I always felt like the weird one.

She's alive!

And I met 11 other weird ones.

[all cheering]

So, win or lose, I'm taking so much away.

[hip-hop music playing]

[Bao] The first dress I'm gonna tackle
is my Joan of Arc armor dress.

Of course, I have to do a little nod
to Miss Joan of Arc,

so I wanna do a dress that is made
out of this gorgeous silver fabric

that will look like chain mail
when it's on the runway.

It's going to have cutouts on top,

and I wanna have these gorgeous falls
that come from her shoulder,

just for, you know, the drama.

I don't usually put ruffles
with this fabric.

I just think
it'd just be a really cool mix.

-[Tan] Nigey-Nige!
-Nige!

Hey, what's up?

Talk us through the entire concept.

It's definitely, like, Woodstock inspired.

How many girls we using in this show?

Um, I chose to go with five. [laughs]

-Ooh! Well done, you.
-Yes!

Right. Right.

[Tan] How we feeling
about the eight looks?

[Nigel] I'm thinking of doing,
like, a whole denim, braided look.

I'm definitely gonna bring in
some vintage denim patchwork.

Also, I'm experimenting
with different fabrications

and playing with shiny laces,

woven fabrics with, like, dope print,

and also fur

to show that, you know, there is growth
through this whole process.

[Tan] I love that you've been inspired
throughout this competition.

I do wanna know about your showstopper.

Basically I was thinking
that, like, I wanna play with denim

and make a tie-dye poncho
with an oversized bucket

with the same tie-dye print.

-And then also...
-[gasps] An oversized bucket!

-[Nigel] Yeah.
-So cool!

-[laughs]
-[Tan] All right.

How's she gonna see down the runway?

She'll just look down at the floor.

-I've done that.
-Right. Wow.

-I ain't worried about it.
-[Tan] Wow.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I'm working on a puffer coat.

I'm just kinda cutting it out
so I can pass it off to my sewers.

My plan for the first day
is to get this first idea out of my head,

which is making this puffer vest

with this amazing pleated black fabric
that I found.

I'm gonna do almost like a ski suit,
but I'm gonna make it two-tone.

I'm gonna do some silver puffer pants

and a big, larger-than-life puffer vest
with an amazing gigantic zipper.

I know this is, like, tricky
'cause it's so massive.

It's actually scary.

I've never seen a puffer vest
done like this before.

It's gonna be next level.

-[Tan] ♪ Bao Bao-Bao-Bao...[laughs]
-[Tan, Gigi] ♪ Bao-Bao! ♪

It just didn't come together.

-Hi, dear! Wow, you are ready.

-What's the theme of the collection?

[Bao] My whole thing
is about female empowerment.

I'm taking the theme from armor.

This is basically the wardrobe armor

that we have to use
to arm ourselves against the world.

I wanna have a jumpsuit.

I wanna have a tailored-pants look.

I wanna have evening gowns
and using metallic fabrics as colorways.

I love what you're going for right now,

but sometimes I worry
that you limit yourself

by thinking, "I'm the cutout queen."

-You can do so much more, Bao.
-Yes, I can.

And what I really am excited about
about this competition is growth.

I don't want the collection to come out
and to think, "That's Bao."

I want the collection to come out
and to say, [excitedly] "That's Bao!"

-That's "Next in Bao."
-Yeah, that's "Next in Bao."

[Bao] Okay. Okay.

What about your showstopper?
Have you thought of it?

Not yet.

-This is your chance to push yourself.
-Okay.

I've got to go big
and showcase what I can do.

[Nigel] With the fur hoodie,

I'm bringing another fabric
that's, like, lightweight,

and we're gonna put it
along the lines of each of the seams.

-Fur, fur, just on top.
-Yeah. Yeah.

It is a little tricky
trying to communicate my style of design.

Doesn't have to be super clean.

-This one looks a little thick.
-It is, yeah.

[Nigel] I'll just put it on your back,
just so I can...

I have so much detailing
I'm trying to get done.

-We're gonna do a whole garment like that.
-We gotta get crack-a-lackin'.

My sewers are kinda
getting a little irritated.

It's gonna be a lot of work.

And then we've been starting
on the braids.

So I've always wanted to do this idea
of, like, braiding denim together

and making a whole garment out of it.

The judges wanna see
a more feminine side from me,

so I think these braids
will tap a little bit into that.

We'll probably need
about 50 braids for this.

This technique is super time-consuming.

I've put half my team of sewers
working on it.

I just wanna kinda get a head start
just so we can see if it's possible

'cause if not, we wasted so much time.

Oh my God,
I wanna be on the braiding squad so bad.

-It's against the rules.
-Oh right.

[Gigi] You're like,
"I'm never gonna look at a braid again."

-[sewer] My God, my fingers hurt so bad.
-[all laugh]

[Bao] I usually snatch her in
with a little bit of a waistband.

Okay!

[Bao] I'm working on
my dripping-goddess dress,

and I think it's gonna really hit the mark
of what Tan and Gigi are saying

of seeing me cut out the female form
in new ways.

For this dress,

it's gonna have
an asymmetrical cowl-neck front,

but I'm hardening it up
with chunky silver-chain hardware,

so it just gives it that edge
while being so soft

and just accentuating
every curve on her body.

I want to keep on incorporating
more things than just the cutouts.

[Deontré] We're constructing
some denim jeans.

So I'm going to create
a two-tone denim look

and customize it with paint

and create a silver denim.

-You're gonna topstitch twice.
-Okay.

[Deontré] I'm also gonna create

this two-toned
black-and-brown leather look,

and it's a matching set
'cause I wanna show my versatility.

Oh, that's so perfect.

[hip-hop music playing]

[whirring]

All right, designers,
we are almost done with day one.

Only one hour left.

-Oh my God.
-Sheesh!

Still a lot more to do, y'all.

This is going to be a hard finale.
I already know.

We are, like, en route on the two dresses.

I'll be able to reset tonight
and hit it hard tomorrow.

Bao has already got
two outfits almost done.

-She's working on a third right now.
-She knows how to run the ship.

Today we worked on the two fur jackets,
the fur, hooded jacket,

the denim-fur jacket,
and then the braids for the braided look.

[Gigi] Nigel, the biggest part
is kind of teaching his team

about how he does his patchwork.

-It's so specific to him.
-[Tan] Yeah.

-Is there anything else I can do?
-Um...

The only person
I've got slight concerns about is Deontré.

He said, "I'm gonna
create a bunch of pieces

and mix and match and make it work."

That could work really well
in the real world if you had time.

Phew!

[Bao] These are the most important pieces
I've ever designed and have to make.

The stakes are so high.

Winning this would be life changing.

[Deontré] Tomorrow I'll have more ideas
to put together.

My life depends on you guys.

[Nigel] I'm proud of our progress.

We're doing a lot of fabrication
throughout the collection.

We're gonna have to cut a few corners
and stuff like that

'cause it's still so much we have to do.

I'm so excited about my gold jumpsuit.

I want to mix in my tailoring skills
with the cutouts.

It's gonna have a full notched lapel
and a low, plunging neckline.

I wanted to create the jumpsuit
every girl wants.

The judges have never seen me
do a tailored jacket,

so I wanna make their jaws drop.

Oh my God. Look at this!

It's so cute.

I had a good dream last night
of my showstopper,

so I gotta bring that dream to reality.

My showstopper look

is a oversized,
larger-than-life puffer jacket

that's gonna be attached to her
almost like a book bag,

and under it's gonna have a nice
cut-out form-fitting rib-knit blue dress

that's gonna hug her body

and show off
that amazing oversized jacket.

Hold it up to his shoulder.

This is a showstopper for me

because I've never created
something this massive.

You gonna have enough to make it?

Yes, yes, yes.

My look from the first challenge
was massive.

Wow.

But I'm gonna double it,

and I'm going to make it
a real showstopper moment.

I want it to cover up the whole runway.

-[chuckles] Yes.
-[chuckles] Give it that drama.

-♪ So wild... ♪
-[Nigel] We're flowing right now.

We're getting some good progress
on that braided look,

which was, like,
one of our most intense looks,

and then the flower-knit look
is almost complete.

The showstopper is gonna be
kind of like a poncho shape,

and then it'll have,
like, a pant underneath

and an oversized bucket hat,

and they'll all have that same pattern.

At Woodstock, their signature style
was, like, tie-dye,

and then I wanna bring in
my signature style with my fabrications

and really bring both
of those worlds together.

[voice over PA]

So y'all can come around.

-[Bao] Hello!

I'm gonna take you first.

-These will be her pants.
-[sewer] Yep.

I'm gonna put some sleeves on it, too,
and take the shoulders up a bit.

-[Tan] D!
-[Deontré] Hey, Tan.

Are you still creating a bunch of pieces
and trying to piece it together?

-[Deontré] Yeah.
-[Tan] Okay.

Are there pieces that you're like,
"They're okay. I might change up"?

-[Deontré] Yeah.
-But there's only a day left.

You wanna make sure
that you're really honing in on,

"These are the ones I'm going with.
Let's make every one of them pop."

I gotcha.

-[Nigel] This is the braided look.

-Absolute love, love, love.
-[Nigel laughs]

Have you started work on the other three?

-Um, no.
-All right.

So the work
that you've done already is fantastic,

but your fabrication takes a long time.
My only concern for you, Nige, is time.

And what can you actually
realistically complete

to make sure it's a very full collection?

-Oh, it's so beautiful.
-This is a jumpsuit.

-An essential part of a woman's wardrobe.
-[Tan] I love that it's a blazer jumpsuit.

-Great.
-[Bao] So this one is the citrus dress.

It's gonna have, like, a collage
of pieces of silk velvet,

and I'm also gonna be having a cascade
of silk velvet going down her left leg.

I wanted a pop of color.

Mm-hmm. I would say that,
with only one of the pieces having neon,

it feels a little disjointed.

I would suggest finding a way to tie it in
so you can tell it's a collection.

[Bao] I was starting to feel it was
becoming one note with just metallics.

But I'm just trying to weigh
if I need another piece.

I'm not sure if I'm gonna
have to redo this citrus dress.

It's quite a task
to really make well-fitting clothes.

It's like a whole tapestry of ruching.

I mean, Jesus, I... I...
I can't... I can't afford that.

I only have three days.

No time.

[lively music playing]

[Nigel] Little bit of detailing here,
and I'm liking

how everything's kinda hidden here.

[Bao] This is the train
for the finale showstopper.

It's like ice.

What better way
to end a female empowerment collection

than the bride marrying herself?

The skirt is gonna be a massive ball gown
with a big black bow on the back

to emulate the notched collar
of the tuxedo

and then this ginormous sash.

I just want it to be
such a grand-finale moment

that just kinda takes your breath away.

Oh, it's gonna be so good.
Marry ourselves, babies!

I'm so close
to such a life-changing moment,

so I've got to push myself and go big.

It's so amazing. This is gonna
turn into a full-blown skirt.

You know, if I was able to win the prize,
it would mean so much.

I'm still a very small brand.
I'm doing everything myself.

I'm my own pattern-maker,
my own sample-maker,

my own designer, social-media manager.

It's nonstop,

and I have two beautiful girls.

[crying] When my daughter was five...
[sniffs]

...she made this drawing,
and it broke my heart.

It was of her facing forward,

but it was me turned the other way,

and she was like,
"'Cause that's how I see you."

She sees the back of my head all the time
'cause I'm always working.

[crying] I'm sorry.

Winning Next in Fashion
would make such a difference.

It would allow me to expand my team.

It's going to give me
the biggest prize of all, which is time,

so then I can spend more time
with my girls, you know,

and make every moment count.

How fabulous is that?

Everything's looking good.
We just gotta execute now.

We started on getting the fabrication
ready for the showstopper look.

Right now we're doing the paneling for it.

We have the braided look almost done.

The floral look, that's about ready.

The fur, we're gonna add some shorts
and then just bring in some of that trim.

We have the Joan of Arc done.

We're gonna have
the dripping goddess done.

We're gonna have the gold jumpsuit done.

The showstopper's being worked on.

Citrus is gonna be on ice until the last
to see if I just refabricate it.

Almost at the end of day two.
Still working on my showstopper.

But I'm a little worried.

So my original plan
was to make a lot of different things

and figure out what works well together.

But I'm down to the wire.

Um...

I need to figure out
how I'm gonna turn these garments

into eight complete looks, ASAP.

This is not where I expected to be
the night before the runway.

The final is not a place
where I want things to go wrong.

I don't got time to have to rethink,
readjust, think of new things.

I'm working hard, and I really wanna win,
but I'm a little shaken right now.

[empowering music playing]

[Nigel] All right.

-[sewer] Put a chain on her straps?
-[Bao] Yeah, I'd love to put a chain on.

[Nigel] Probably make a tank top
for this one.

There's a lot of moving parts here.
I made a lot.

I gotta figure out
where these pieces are gonna go.

I gotta figure out this finale thing,
how it's gonna tie in together.

There's a lot to get done.

The yellow pants,

I wanna kinda split it
and mix it with two fabrics.

I gotta see
what I'm gonna do with the vest.

The gloves, of course,
clean up the edges, attach these scraps.

Hem. This is to go under the vest.
I need to get that station set up.

If you can just... [buzzes]
Move this up. Take this in.

A lot to get done.
Oh, and I gotta spray paint.

-So what's left to finish on the bride?

-[Bao] Okay, the bow, the zipper.
-Okay.

-And we got the top we have to do.

We got most of my pieces
figured out, sewn,

and now there's so many small details
that need to get done.

I'm scared of not getting everything done
'cause the details are so important.

You know, constantly making sure
everything fits the model perfectly.

Tan talked about the citrus dress,
but I think, in terms of redoing it,

I'm not able to redo it.
There's just no time.

But I feel like we can tie it in
in other ways.

I have to see the big picture
of what I need to finish

for the entire collection.

I feel like,
with the two other green pieces I have,

that it ties it all in.
I don't have time to redo it.

I have way too much to do,
and I'm gonna make this citrus dress work.

This is what badass mamas and women do.

will be judging the collections,

but for this grandest of grand finales,

we are also joined
by some very special guest judges.

[Gigi] And the final member
of our super-sized judging roster,

she's one of the leading innovators
in the world

when it comes to getting great fashion
to anyone and everyone.

Jennifer, what makes a collection
perfect for you and the platform?

Rent the Runway is all about experimenting
and having fun with fashion,

so I'm looking for a designer
where every single piece is a showstopper.

-[Bao squeals]

[Deontré] You ready? You ready
to show the world what you got?

Yeah, I'm ready to shock the world.

The first collection
that you will see tonight

is from a streetwear designer
based out of Atlanta.

He creates one-of-a-kind designs
using upcycled and repurposed materials.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is
the innovative work of Nigel Xavier.

[crowd whooping and cheering]

-[Nigel] Let's get it, man.

I'm so nervous.
I'm, like, just trying to breathe.

My legs are shaking.
My heart is just pumping out of my chest.

Growing up, like,
I would literally tear up all my clothes,

and, you know, my dad would just
be watching me like I was crazy,

and the fact that I'm on this stage
in the finale doing that,

I know he's just like,
"Wow. It all makes sense now."

That looks sick, man.

Just hoping that the judges see,
you know, my vision and understand it.

-I'm glad he put it with the lighter pant.
-I love the pant.

The pants are so unique.

The technique
that he's used for that pant is beautiful.

-The textures on texture is so great.

[Gabriella] Loving this lace
with the denim.

[Jennifer] There's upcycling,
but also this reference to '90s hip-hop.

the play on those boxer shorts.

This is Nigel designing for women,
which, like, we begged him for all season.

[Tan] The paneling,
I think it looks so luxe.

I love the raw edge of that skirt.

Like, the imperfection is kinda perfect.

And the material of the dress
is so surprising.

This is everything from editorial
to walking around the neighborhood.

The fact that he used multiple knits
to create his typical technique

is beautiful. It's unexpected from him.

who would never dress girls.

All his looks were always men's looks.

And, like, this?

Is it, like, sheer
with, like, braiding on top?

and technical skill,

but it feels still in the same family,
That's so hard to do with a collection.

I think he can
communicate his ideas so succinctly,

and still there's something for everyone.

that she's created what would be a suit

and turned it into a jumpsuit is so smart.

The fabrication
catches the light beautifully.

They're usually very much bodycon cutouts.
This is new for her.

It's so different for Bao.
That's what I love about this first look.

Sexy.

It's sexy, but it's relaxed, modern.
It's, like, everything.

It just hugs her body
and makes her look so beautiful.

Perfectly constructed,
which is what Bao does.

The cutout details are interesting.

I love the toughness of the chain.

And it's giving that peekaboo sexy
without being overtly sexy.

I don't think we've seen a suit

of the sleeve.

Most people want the sleeve
to go over the hand.

that the green fabric ombrés.

It breaks up the yellow. That ties in
with the black of that puffer.

The pleats throughout
the whole entire thing,

it's next level.

It is new.

[Tan] These puffers are just
a statement for the runway.

And I wish he'd pushed those even more
because they're not functional jackets.

I do love this color combination.

[Tan] The placement of that black leather
on the jacket, it's perfect.

It feels really sleek.

-It's not too fussy.

-[Tan] I love the adjustables.
-I will say this.

Deontré will create a universe.

It is a vibe. You can break
everything apart, too, which I love.

-And this would sell in every color.

The texture throughout this collection

The highs for me in Nigel's collection
is his fabrication.

Being able to take so many different
fabrics and textures and patterns

and make them all work

in what I think was the most
cohesive storytelling of the night.

Absolutely.

His menswear always sings,

but the womens wear was
almost the highlight of the show for me.

It literally could go
from the office to out at night.

It really feels like something
that can play so many different roles.

My favorite would have to be
the braided denim piece.

That is such a completely different
kind of technicality that we've seen.

Coming in, he had one note, and tonight,
he showed a very inclusive collection.

There is no gender.

He nailed that to a T for me.

I will say, as soon as I saw the poncho
as the showstopper,

I thought, "I don't know
if a poncho gives me showstopping."

[Tan] Could it have been a little
more exaggerated to really make me gasp?

Yes.

He's doing sustainability in streetwear.
I've never seen that before.

He has consistently given us
something fresh every challenge.

It's not something
we can buy in a store today.

That is, to me, what is next in fashion.

What is the thing that's gonna be copied
within the next few years? Nigel.

All right, let's talk
about Bao's collection.

[hip-hop music playing]
♪ Clap, clap, clap, clap... ♪

I love this collection.
This would be a best-renting collection

because Bao designs
for creating a memorable look

that'll go on social media,
then you're not gonna wear it again.

It's about having fun with fashion.
So that's what I love about it.

She delivered her signature sexiness.

It was the kind of collection
that makes every woman feel sexy.

Don't need to hide themselves in fabric.
Can be about accentuating our shapes.

She gave us silhouettes
that we wouldn't have expected from her.

In particular, the jumpsuit,
I thought, was really impressive,

considering it's so out
of Bao's wheelhouse.

I'm really glad
that a lot of those new silhouettes

made it into this collection,
but the neon-green fabric

pulled apart what made sense
about the collection to me.

Everything else kind of
had this metallic feeling.

This could have used that exact same dress
in something that made more sense.

Bao's showstopper,
I really loved the volume of the skirt.

The construction was brilliant,

and it showed another area
of her expertise beyond form fitted.

It felt like Bao 2.0,
reaching a new stratosphere for her

in terms of elegance.

I say this over and over.
Her hand on fabric is pretty amazing.

When I first met Bao,
it felt like just one note.

Today I saw a bit of an evolution.

I saw Bao today,
and I also saw Bao tomorrow.

I love that so much.

-[Gigi] Mm-hmm
-Okay, guys. Deontré's collection.

[hip-hop music playing]

Deontré took me
on that ride of pure fantasy.

[Gabriella] It felt like
he was taking us to outer space,

and it was Planet Deontré,
and I was here for it.

I really appreciated the leather suiting.

I could see it
on so many different types of people.

Yeah.

For me, the showstopper
was definitely a wow when it came out,

the size and the proportion
of that beautiful puffer cape,

but once I started to look
at the actual dress that was under it,

it wasn't fitting the model well enough
to be more than a simple blue dress.

But I think that he has the most potential
of anyone in the competition

over the next ten to fifteen years.

Who is going to change the industry?

I think he has the highest chance.

They all are great designers.

This is the hardest decision
throughout this whole competition.

All right, guys.

Do you think
that we have all agreed on a winner?

-Yes.
-[Gabriella, Jennifer] I think so.

[Nigel] I know these judges got
a hard decision.

I hope they see how much I put into this,
and I gave it all I got,

and this was enough for me to win this

'cause that's what I've been fighting for
since the beginning.

[Bao] Seeing my daughter's face
looking up at me,

I'm realizing how I looked at my mom
when I was young

as she's sewing in the sweatshop.

The full 360-ness of this.

My heart is racing.

I'm, like, so potentially close
to such a life-changing moment.
