KATHRYN EISMAN:
We are what we wear.
Or is it that
we wear what we are?
I'm Kathryn Eisman,
and ever since
I was a young girl,
I've had this ability to
read a person's true character
just by looking at
the clothes they're wearing.
To take the bow away,
I'm not sure how I'd cope.
Right now I'm shaking,
physically.
I don't know how to dress.
I don't know how to
present myself as my new self.
This group of people,
whom I've never met,
are taking part in
a unique social experience
to ultimately find out
if changing our clothes
truly can change our lives.
Look at you! Oh, my goodness!
My everyday life is full-on.
I'm, like, always on the go.
That's just who I am.
I've been like that
my whole life.
I'm very hard-working
and driven.
I run four businesses.
I'm one of the only female
fire-breathing bartenders
in the whole of Australia,
and one of the rare ones
across the world.
I'm an independent
mother of two.
I love my family, my children.
They are number one.
Can you please
give me a hug, Mum?
Part of my drive in my life
is to keep being the best role
model for my kids.
Growing up, I was really big.
Being overweight was
never, ever a thing
that I liked about myself.
I lost 70 kilos within the
year.
I'm still getting to
know my body,
'cause it's constantly
changing.
Everywhere I go,
I am chilling in my activewear.
I have no idea how to
dress myself right now.
That's why I'm in
the activewear all the time.
Hi, I'm Kathryn.
What's your name?
Hi, Kathryn.
My name is Sheena.
Sheena, would you like to
have a reading?
- Yes, please.
- Oh, good.
Sheena, I've been feeling
your good vibes,
and just could not miss
this bright red shirt.
In a sea of kind of a lot of
black T-shirts in life,
you really are just powered up.
There's just so much energy
to you.
And red is a colour to notice.
It's someone
who's an action-woman.
It's someone who is on the go.
It's someone who is kind of
firing ahead in their life,
and no-one can stop you.
You are just
a woman on a mission,
and everyone else better
get out of the way.
(BOTH LAUGH)
I see you're wearing leggings.
I think the whole world,
these days,
often seems to wear leggings,
but I get the sense that
you're probably the only person
who actually works out.
And they're in black. They
don't have a million logos
over.
It's not a fashion legging.
You've got the sneakers on.
They're black as well.
Obviously, sport is something
that's really important
to your identity.
When I share these things,
are there things that
resonate with you?
Definitely. My life now
is very much sports-driven.
Probably about 2 to 3 years
ago, weighed 140 kilos.
My whole entire life,
I was the big girl,
throughout school,
high school, work.
But my body did not
represent who I was,
so I decided to
make a lifestyle change.
I feel empowered just standing
next to you - like, I really
do.
I feel how genuine
the transformation has been.
I've been a mum since I was 21.
Independent mum.
I do everything on my own.
My mother helps me like a lot.
So I just want to say
thanks to my mum.
So, both parents are Deaf.
- That's why I'm signing
just a little bit.
- That's beautiful.
But I always thought that
my appearance
didn't match my skill set,
or who I was inside.
Do you basically
live in workout clothes?
Yeah, like, the pants
are the same,
it's just the top that changes.
Like one job, I'm there,
and then I'm there,
and it's like, flip, flip.
When you look at someone
who lives in workout gear,
there's also sometimes
an unwillingness
to take off the workout
clothes,
because there's this fear that
maybe it won't be such
a big part of their identity.
So they wear it
to kind of remind them
of who they've become,
does that...
I love what I look in it.
But then the thing is,
I don't know how to dress.
I don't know how to
present myself as my new self.
A lot of the hard work,
you've done,
and now we want
the world to see it,
and make you feel powerful
and in control.
So, Sheena, are you ready
to ditch the workout gear
and finally work out
what to wear?
- Yes, please.
- Alright.
Can you show me how to say
'thank you' in sign language?
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
Thank you. Let's go.
(APPLAUSE)
SHEENA: I want so much more
in my outfit,
to be able to portray where I
am in my life right now.
Kathryn's amazing.
She nailed it. Yeah. (LAUGHS)
KATHRYN: Sheena has undergone
a huge transformation
before I met her,
and I want to show her
she is complete,
and she can now expand beyond
it
and be more than
just a fitness person.
She can be a healthy, vibrant,
fully-realised woman,
and she can do it with
clothing.
OK, so this here is mostly
the clothing that I wear
on a day-to-day basis.
So my sporty-sporties,
work gear.
So, hang on a second.
You said 'my sporty-sporties
and my work gear'.
But I'm really just seeing
sporty-sporties.
What... Can you... Which...
What's the difference?
I don't see
much of a difference.
There is not much difference.
This is a huge part
of your identity.
This is what you wear,
almost 24-7.
But there's this
enormous wardrobe here
with the doors closed.
Shall we open them
and see what's hidden inside?
- Yeah.
- Alright.
This is like The Lion,
The Witch And The Wardrobe.
It's like Narnia in there.
Now, I noticed
a lot of the clothes here,
and they're cute,
but they're something that I
would expect a teenager to
wear.
So when you were a teenager,
what kind of clothes
were you wearing?
Well, my mum was
making clothes for me,
because there was no way
I was fitting into
any type of
off-the-rack clothing.
And so now,
as a 38-year-old woman
who can finally fit into
teenage clothing,
you are kind of healing
yourself
by buying the clothes
that you couldn't then.
Yeah.
But here's the thing,
you are a successful woman now.
What do you want to be?
Who do you want to be?
When you walk into a room, what
do you want people to think?
That's that woman.
Confident, strong, but
graceful.
I've got some homework for you.
I want you to take yourself off
to all kinds of stores.
I want you to pull items
that make you feel good.
Try them on.
See what cuts you like,
what colours you like.
But it's about experimenting
and finding your voice
through fashion.
I think Sheena's going to
really enjoy this process,
because she's been waiting her
whole life to play dress-up.
- Let's do it.
- Yay!
Who am I? Who is Jordan?
Growing up very conservative,
I never fit in.
I'm not like
the rest of my brothers.
I don't talk like them.
I did really well in school
for drama and music,
but my parents weren't always
supportive of my creative side.
And yeah, life took me
down a different path.
I don't know how to get
to where I want to be.
And I want to be
my authentic self.
Hi. I'm Kathryn.
What's your name?
My name is Jordan.
Jordan, would you like to
have a reading?
Absolutely.
Jordan, when I look at you,
I am just drawn to
this perfect man-bun.
You're hiding something
magnificent up there, I can
see.
Can we let your hair down?
- Absolutely.
- Let's do it. Yeah.
(GASPS)
Oh, wow.
Oh, my gosh. I need
your hairdresser's number.
OK. (LAUGHS)
OK, so in terms of the
clothing,
what I see is this khaki outfit
and there's two parts of it
that were interesting to me,
that speak to
the idea of hiding.
First, you're in,
like, camouflage -
you're literally in a colour
that is what people in the
military would wear to hide.
But then there's this kind of
really interesting,
elevated fabric to it.
Then you've got layers here,
so you've got this top.
And that speaks to
two things about someone -
the fact that, one, is that
when someone doesn't feel
as confident in their physique,
they might do these things,
subconsciously or consciously,
to cover themselves,
to hide their body.
Tell me about that.
Oh, I've just never been...
..positive about my own body.
I've always been a bigger kid.
You don't look big.
You look strong, to me.
And, more importantly,
I want you to feel strong -
you know,
internally, externally.
I see your Guccis,
your designer sneakers here.
(LAUGHS)
That's an interesting twist.
So you like
the finer things in life,
and just feeling a bit
elevated.
And I see this kind of
incredible strength
that you have,
and beauty and grace.
And I think there's this
real dichotomy, you know,
this torn between, like...
..feeling...
..like you don't fit in,
but then also really loving
the part of yourself
that makes you
special and unique.
And you're kind of torn between
those two things,
so sometimes you have to...
hide it.
- Uh...
- Tell me how you're feeling.
Like...
..everything that you just
said.
Growing up
in an Islander family,
I am the eldest
of eight children.
I was...different.
(SNIFFLES) I haven't...
..said it out loud.
Or told anyone except
for my closest friends.
And it's...
..sometimes guessed.
Um...
I'm attracted to men.
I have never said that out
loud.
How do you feel?
Right now, I'm shaking,
like, physically,
- and...and it's.
- Yeah.
I don't know why I'm crying
now.
- No, you know why?
- Don't know why I'm crying.
I'll tell you why.
You've carried this for so
long,
and the weight of it
is so heavy,
because when we're not living
our true version of ourselves,
or we have to hide
parts of ourselves
that we shouldn't have to hide,
it's just a lot
to carry through.
Right now, I do feel...
- ..lighter.
- Yeah.
I don't know why.
That's what happens
when you speak the truth.
That's where
the real transformation begins,
and the lightness comes from.
And in truth, there's beauty,
so it's always good.
Would you like to continue
this transformation,
in becoming all that
you already are,
and go on a wild ride together?
- Only if you're ready.
- I'm so ready!
(BOTH LAUGH)
- So proud of you.
- Oh, my God.
(APPLAUSE)
JORDAN: There is a big change
I want to make in my life.
I'd love to explore the
creative side that I'd never
got to.
- (WHISPERS) Well done.
- That was hard.
Kathryn said
it's best to live my truth.
And I think I'm ready.
KATHRYN: Can't wait to see
inside Jordan's wardrobe.
I'm not sure whether it'll
all be kind of on the safe side
or whether there will be clues
to that big personality
that I know is waiting
for the world to see.
(LAUGHS) I have to say,
I just want to talk about this
for a second.
This is very exciting to me.
What is going on here?
I was hoping that
you didn't find that.
Um, this was
an accidental purchase.
You've still got it, though.
Yeah, in case, like, you know,
you have to dress up ugly
for, I don't know,
someone's ugly-themed party.
- I have it ready.
- Tick! (LAUGHS)
What's interesting
about your wardrobe
is I'm seeing a completely
different vibe over here.
This is kind of
corporate Jordan, is it?
Yeah, that is.
I wear this to work.
Yeah.
And then
I just want to understand
a little bit about...
about these.
(LAUGHS) Bought that
just for fun.
There's a lot I'm loving
about this watermelon look.
(LAUGHS) It makes me very
happy.
- It makes me happy, too.
- Does it?
I love seeing your face
come alive.
- OK.
- Alright.
Tell me about
this version of yourself.
This is, like...
This is Party Jordan,
like, ready for a good time.
I really like it.
And then I have to notice
this version, Jordan.
- Yes...
- This is not so much.
The smile is
fading from your face.
Do you feel good in this?
Does it feel like who you are?
No. This makes me
feel like a grandfather,
like, this shirt.
Tell me a little bit about
the lifestyle that
comes with this shirt
and all these rather
conservative tops you have.
I do like it,
but I don't LOVE it.
It's time for a change.
Like, life's too short.
Life's too short to be doing
the same thing over and over
again.
What would you like to do now?
I'd absolutely love to
get into modelling.
It's always been
a passion of mine.
Like, high school,
I did really well in drama,
I duxed my year.
I just never got a chance
to pursue it,
or go down that path
and explore it.
If you do go into
acting and modelling,
you will be going to a lot of
auditions and a lot of
castings.
And nowhere is first
impressions more important
than in a casting audition,
because that's all you get.
I think we're going to do
a little bit of an experiment
if you're game.
Seven days,
and I want you to dress
to express
your creativity and flair
and use fashion so you have
that confident edge.
Well, can I wear watermelon?
We can get the spirit.
We can squeeze
the spirit of the watermelon,
and we'll make a c*ck of
it,
but with a little bit more
fashion cred as well,
and a little bit more
professionalism.
And we'll make something,
our own very special
Jordan c*ck
that's never been on
anyone else's menu.
- Does that sound good?
- That sounds great.
KATHRYN: I want Jordan
to realise
he doesn't have to have
two versions of himself.
When you live
your authentic self
and when you dress in a way
that feels authentic to you,
you're unstoppable.
And I want Jordan
to feel unstoppable.
Hi. I'm Kathryn.
What's your name?
Hi, I'm Jacky.
Jacky, would you like to
have a reading?
Thank you.
Jacky, thank you so much
for being here with me.
Thank you.
Well, all I can say is
passion -
passion, passion, passion.
I look at you
in this extraordinary creation,
and I just see someone
who has almost like
a fire or flame inside of them.
You probably put yourself
into a profession
that makes you feel alive,
makes you feel that
you're living your purpose.
Yes, I'm
a professional vocalist,
and I'm also
an entertainment coordinator.
You want to go
head-first into life,
that you want to
share it with someone
and have that that romance.
So I see you with the bow, and
I think it's very '80s,
obviously.
I also think that it might
have been a time in your life
when you felt your best,
when life was
where it was meant to be.
And right now,
the feeling that I get
there might be some big gaps
in what you would like
for your life.
And I see that desire to have
that passion and romance.
And I would go out on a limb
and say that
you don't have someone
in your life.
- No.
- Yeah.
And so while some people
wake up, they get dressed
and they go about their day
as a person,
but you have always
seen yourself as a personality.
But there is a deeper truth
below the bow,
and the..and the pink.
What is it?
The bow's me.
Like, it's every day.
I can't live without it.
(LAUGHS)
- It's security.
- It's my security blanket.
It's sort of helped me
sort of...
Navigate change in your life?
Navigate and go through
changes.
And a lot of things
have changed in my life.
But the bow has stayed.
So what I'd like is for Jacky
to feel like Jacky
without her bow.
It actually stops you
from creating a new reality
that will suit you.
You're hanging so hard
to the '80s
that you can't become
the new version of it
that has the romance,
that has the bigger career
and has true happiness,
in a way.
I do need to learn
how to be safe without my bow,
because I need to move forward.
I think it's...it's just.
- Yeah.
- Sooner or later...
This is the thing that...
..I'm going to have to
let go of that little blanket.
The inside is going to be
stronger than ever.
You're letting go of a ghost.
I have faith in you. I trust
you. And I'm just ready.
- Thank you.
- Thank you so much.
(APPLAUSE)
JACKY: Kathryn is definitely
right in what she's saying.
I'm going to have to embrace
and accept
that I can still be me
without the bow.
How I'm going to do that,
I don't know just yet.
The last couple of years,
I have had some major changes.
And I've been through a lot -
Sickness, children, divorce.
But you know,
I'm climbing back up.
My sense of style is very '80s.
Lots of sequins, pink, bows.
I am an entertainer,
so I don't want to
dim any of my personality down,
but I definitely need a revamp.
There's no doubt about that.
I do want to have someone
special in my life, 100%.
I want to be loved,
and I want to love someone.
KATHRYN: Jacky's issue is that
she suffers from something that
I call 'time-capsule dressing'.
She's stuck in a certain period
of time, where she felt happy.
I think Jacky's wardrobe
is going to look
a lot like Cyndi Lauper's.
Like, exactly.
Come into my humble little
home.
I don't think there's anything
humble about this room.
Oh, sweetheart.
You've got the beautiful
sequins-style clothing here,
that is...this is
an off-shoulder. And it's...
I'm assuming this is
the on-stage.
This is on-stage.
So we've got, like,
varieties of sequins.
Love it.
Where's your off-stage Jacky?
Off-stage is,
you're looking a bit more,
you know, pink with some bows.
And so it's understated
off stage.
- No, I'm just kidding.
- (BOTH LAUGH)
Here, we have you
very deep in the '80s.
This is actually out of
Madonna's wardrobe.
(BOTH LAUGH)
Alright.
So, when I walked in here,
I thought, wow,
this is very exciting.
But it did feel a little bit
like a time capsule.
And it says to me very much
the '80s.
And when I think of the '80s,
you think about, you know,
Girls Just Want To Have Fun,
and, really, the soundtrack
of your life.
So the '80s connected with
your ideals of what you loved.
I loved. Absolutely.
You're right, there.
And so what we do is
we internalize it,
and then we go shopping
and we gravitate towards items
that speak to the feeling that
that music gives us.
That's right.
So you're reclaiming your
youth.
I think you're right, there.
I want to keep all of
that shine, that sparkle.
But I want to give it in a way
that is more of
a quiet confidence.
Yes.
I've got a new business.
And the business is that
I have other artists on my
books and I present them to
clubs.
But they are looking at this,
and they are not listening
to what I'm saying.
This wardrobe is not 'biz'.
- This wardrobe is 'show'.
- It's just all show.
And so people aren't seeing you
with the respect and gravitas
that someone of your intellect
and talent needs to have.
So we need to just
tone it down a bit
so they're not looking at
the sparkles,
they're looking at you and
listening to what you're
saying.
Yeah, that's
really important to me.
Jacky, I've got
a fashion reset for you.
For seven days, I want you to
step into more subtle ways
of showing that
inner shine that you have.
And regarding your favourite
hair adornment,
You can wear these,
but not tied into a bow,
because that makes me feel
like you're in the '80s,
and I want to take you
out of that time capsule.
OK. No, I agree. It's got to
go.
So... We have to change it up
a little bit.
KATHRYN: Jacky has a lot of
soul and a lot of talent,
but her clothing
is such a distraction.
You can't help but observe her,
but with, like, some curiosity,
rather than take her seriously.
And so by taking away
all the flashy distractions,
I'm actually more
invested in her as the person.
Sheena has undergone
a transformation.
She's lost
an enormous amount of weight.
As a result, she always dresses
in workout clothes.
There's this fear that
if you take those clothes off,
will you go back
to the ways of the past?
SHEENA: My mission was to go
out
and to try on all different
types of clothing,
different fabrics, colours,
and just items which I would
never really pull off the
shelf.
I'm really digging this book.
I feel like my mindset
is starting to shift.
Yeah, I feel just amazing.
I want to show Sheena
she can feel secure
in this new identity,
and she can now expand
beyond just a fitness person -
she can be a healthy, vibrant,
fully-realised woman.
Sheena! Look at you!
The legs, not just the
leggings.
How amazing.
And are you actually
wearing some heels?
Yes.
How have you been?
You look absolutely phenomenal.
Really great,
I feel really different,
just in picking the clothing
and then wearing the clothing
out.
A lot of things that
I didn't think would suit me
actually did.
And I was like,
oh, this is quite liberating.
Well, this outfit is k*ller.
And I have a few more things
that I want to surprise
you with.
- If you want to come with me.
- Yes, please.
- See this rack over here?
- Yes.
That is Sheena's rack.
This is yours.
- Oh, wow!
- This is for your new life.
I didn't want you to feel that
you were stuck
or stopped in your life.
And, in many ways,
it's all go from here.
I went for a very silky
material,
and I wanted you
to feel chic.
You deserve that.
And so this fabric
gives that premium impression,
not only to people who see you,
but to yourself as you wear it.
I like the whole idea behind
it.
So Sheena, have a look
at the rack.
Is there anything that
looks familiar to you?
My gym gear!
Did you keep it for me?
Am I still allowed to wear it?
I don't know if 'keep'
is the correct word.
- This is the outfit you
wore... - Yes.
..when I first met you.
What do you think of it now?
It looks so basic.
Like a workers uniform.
It kind of represents
part of my journey.
And I feel like I've kind of
moved beyond that right now.
Yeah, absolutely.
- It worked hard, this outfit.
- Yeah!
And you worked really hard
in it.
- So there's no shame in there.
- I know. It feels good.
Like, it looks nice,
looking at it.
I have another outfit for you
that I'm very excited
for you to see.
And it's waiting
in that dressing room.
- Sheena?
- Yes.
- It's time to get dressed.
- OK.
SHEENA: I'm so ready
to celebrate
where I've come and where I
was,
and to step out
into my new life.
It's time to give myself
the love and attention
that I deserve.
When you look at someone
who lives in workout gear,
there's sometimes
an unwillingness
to take off the workout
clothes,
because there's this fear that
maybe it won't be such
a big part of their identity.
So they wear it to
kind of remind them
of who they've become.
The thing is,
I don't know how to dress,
I don't know how to
present myself as my new self.
Sheena, come on out
and take a look.
Oh, wow!
You look incredible.
Spectacular.
You look so beautiful.
It blows my mind.
Oh, my gosh. Look at this.
Who is this woman?
- This is you.
- We look like a match.
I know.
I wanted you to wear a fabric
that was soft and comfortable,
just like your beloved
leggings.
- It is.
- But so much better.
I feel like I've completed
a part of a journey in my life
that I've been
working really hard towards.
Seeing this shape,
I am absolutely stoked.
Like, look at her!
- It's YOUR shape.
- It is.
And you worked so hard for it,
and this dress shows it off.
I want you to enjoy it, soak it
in. This is your moment.
- Oh, absolutely.
- You enjoy.
SHEENA: I feel like
I am going to be
stepping out best foot forward
every single day,
and be the best role model
for my kids.
If Mum's feeling great, then
they're going to feel great
too.
KATHRYN: People often think
that clothing is difficult.
But whether it be colours that
stimulate different
emotional responses,
or the tactile nature of fabric
and how it makes you feel,
there's this very direct
correlation between these
pieces
and our physiological
and emotional response to them.
Jacky is locked in
in a certain period of time.
Not only is it
incredibly aging and dates her,
but it sends a message
to the world -
but, most importantly,
to herself -
that the best years
are behind her.
What does the Jacky of today
want to wear?
What does the Jacky of today
want to be?
Dress for THAT person.
And that sends a message that
the best days are yet to come.
Hi, Jacky.
- Hi.
- How are you?
I'm so happy to see you,
my darling.
I'm happy to see you.
How are you?
- How does it feel?
- I mean, I'm loving it.
I feel like I'm definitely
a bit more confident.
I want to talk about your hair,
because I know that your bows,
that was like
your Achilles' heel.
I am wearing a bow.
- Where is it?
- (LAUGHS)
- I'll show you.
- (BOTH LAUGH)
Oh, that's allowed! (LAUGHS)
That's not distracting.
It's when it's up here.
You know, eventually,
I do want to start dating,
and so I want to be wearing
a nice dress
or something glamorous.
That's the first thing
I saw about you.
I saw that romance, you know,
that was going to be
important to you.
- Whenever that happens.
- Probably sooner than
you think.
- Especially when, you...
- I don't know.
I have an idea that it
might happen very soon,
because I have some things
to show you.
Jacky, all these
amazing, beautiful clothes,
- this is your new wardrobe.
- Oh, thank you so much!
Yay! Get in there and explore,
and tell me what you like.
Velvet!
Oh, my gosh.
I love, love, love this.
What do you love about it?
Well, I love the velvet.
I love the fabric.
I love the colour.
People will not only
look at you,
but they will hear you,
and they will listen.
Have a look, there might be
one last thing there
that's very familiar, from...
(LAUGHS)
I don't know
where this came from. (LAUGHS)
Oh, my gosh.
When you look at these clothes,
what words come to mind?
I'm thinking, like,
'80s-theme party night.
That's what I'm thinking.
Like, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper.
Yeah.
It's a big difference, isn't
it?
Like, really,
it's not even funny, really.
(BOTH GIGGLE)
Sorry, but I'm just...
Now I'm looking at it...
It wasn't long ago.
Be proud of how far you've
come.
- You've come a few decades.
- I know! (LAUGHS)
Yeah. Time. It's time.
- You've outgrown them.
- 100%.
Yeah.
Well, now that you have
outgrown them,
I have one final look for you
waiting in that dressing room.
OK.
Jacky, it's time to get
dressed.
Thank you so much. Thank you.
I really appreciate it.
JACKY: I'm ready to fly,
you know?
Different headspace, new look,
new opportunities.
You just have to accept
and embrace changes.
I'm moving forward.
I'm never looking behind.
So I see you with the bow, and
I think it's very '80s,
obviously.
It actually stops you
from creating a new reality
that will suit you.
You're hanging so hard
to the '80s,
that you can't become
the new version of it
that has the romance,
that has the bigger career.
- Yeah. Sooner or later...
- This is the thing
..I'm going to have to let go
of that little blanket.
Jacky, are you ready to see
the new you?
I sure am.
You look so pretty!
Look in the mirror.
Oh, wow.
Feels like I'M bursting
with sunshine.
Gosh.
That's beautiful.
I feel like the goddess in me
has just exploded.
You are the cutest.
As you look at yourself now,
what do you think shifted
not just on the outside,
but in terms of how you feel
about yourself on the inside?
I think, um, it's just...
It's very hard
for me to say this.
But the difference is...
..gaining confidence,
and being able to wear
something
and to just be my own goddess
and my own shine.
And I can't thank you enough
for that.
Yeah. I just... I feel so
nice.
I feel beautiful.
And I feel happy.
And I love pockets.
And I love the dress.
I love it.
Look at yourself.
Give yourself a compliment.
Enjoy those pockets.
- I love it.
- I love it, too.
- Yeah.
- Enjoy.
Thank you, sweetheart.
JACKY: I absolutely love
my dress.
It makes me feel
so happy and pretty,
the vibrance, the colours,
the sunshine.
I feel very womanly.
KATHRYN: The Jacky I see now
is just so contemporary.
She's finally
buried the time capsule
and is living in the moment.
Your overarching philosophy
should be,
Who do I want to be today?
You can be inspired by the
past,
but if it doesn't feel
contemporary, it's a mistake.
Always ask yourself
who am I today?
JACKY: One of the biggest
things Kathryn has told me
is to let go of the past
and build on the future.
And I embrace that.
The shift on the inside's
understanding who I am
and where I want to be.
I want to be loved
and I want to love someone.
So, obviously,
you're a music lover.
- So we have something I love.
- Oh, yeah. I love live music.
- Live music.
- I love dancing?
- You love dancing?
- Yeah.
What kind of dancing
do you like?
I've just taken up
a thing called kizomba.
- We've got that in common too.
- (LAUGHS)
JACKY: If you're
a confident woman,
you don't need
bells and whistles.
You need to just glide.
And I'm gliding now.
KATHRYN: Jordan,
for the longest time,
had to hide a huge part
of his identity.
I want Jordan to realise
he doesn't have to have
two versions of himself.
JORDAN: I have
a whole other life that
I have to share with my family.
Without this show,
I would not have the confidence
to come out, at all.
I don't care about that,
Jordan!
JORDAN: And I told my brothers
and my sisters,
'cause I'm now open enough
to be my authentic self.
(BOTH LAUGH AND CRY)
- Back to fashion...
- (LAUGHS)
The last couple of weeks
has been a roller-coaster
of emotions.
I signed up
for this transformation
thinking it'd be all exterior,
but it's actually been
internal.
This has given me
a feeling of empowerment.
I want to go down
a creative path,
from corporate to fashion.
I'm heading in
the right direction.
KATHRYN: When we look back
on our lives,
there are these moments that
really change
the course of our destiny.
When you live
your authentic self
and when you dress in a way
that feels authentic to you,
you're unstoppable.
And I want Jordan
to feel unstoppable.
- Jordan!
- Hi, Kathryn!
Look at you!
- How are you?
- I'm good.
So happy to see you.
- You brought the life.
- It's life-changing.
Like, I've been having
so much more fun
and, like, you know,
just being myself,
through all of this.
That's good.
I've been doing a lot of
shopping for you,
and I'm so excited
for you to have a look.
- You want to come with me?
- Yes.
Jordan, see this rack?
Every single thing here
is specifically bought for you.
So, I know that you want to
pursue a career as a model.
Mm-hm.
So...
What would be the best step to
do to show off these clothes?
- A little runway?
- Runway, yeah.
JORDAN: Clothes are powerful.
This is definitely changed the
way that I feel towards myself
and the attitude that I have
towards life.
You've carried this for so
long,
and the weight of it is so
heavy
because when we're not living
our true version of ourselves
or we have to hide
parts of ourselves
that we shouldn't have to hide,
it's just a lot
to carry through.
Jordan, let's take a look
at the real you.
- I like it.
- Do you like?
Superstar.
On a scale from 1 to 10,
this outfit is an 11.
It's an 11.
- Jordan.
- Hey.
Now, looking at
your own reflection
and you see this authentic
version of yourself,
what do you think
has shifted inside of you?
I just see
a confident version of myself
staring right back at me.
When I met you,
you were wearing khaki.
Yeah.
And it symbolised that
you were hiding.
There's no hiding
in fluoro orange...
- No.
- ..with those shoes.
What do you think that
expresses about how far you've
come?
I'm more comfortable
in who I am.
And, like, so what
if I'm wearing orange?
I don't want to
blend in the background.
I want to stand out.
I'm going to leave you here
to enjoy it.
Soak yourself in.
And you've earnt this.
Thanks.
Thanks, Kathryn.
JORDAN: When I look in that
mirror, I see a new Jordan.
A Jordan with the confidence
that can take on the world.
Guys, look at me.
Look at this.
KATHRYN: So many of us feel
that
we have to
divide parts of ourselves,
based on what's acceptable.
When you finally
find the clothes
that express
all aspects of yourself,
not just the ones that you
think
you can show to this person
or that person,
but all of you -
that's a really powerful thing
for someone to do.
It allows them to be seen
in their totality.
JORDAN: Life is a journey
of self-discovery.
You're always
constantly changing.
I definitely am not the same
Jordan that I was in high
school
or the same Jordan that
I was, growing up.
Kathryn saw something in me
that was hidden so deep
that I never thought
would ever come out.
You can definitely change your
life by changing your clothes.
In that change,
I became more confident,
and that confidence
gave me the strength
to be my authentic self.
I didn't know I was ready.
It just happened.
And when I went with it
and I pushed myself,
I had no regrets.
I feel like diamonds.
I feel like diamonds and gold.
A million bucks isn't enough.
Today's the reunion!
I'm so, so excited.
- Hi, guys!
- (CHEERING)
KATHRYN: A few months ago,
we began a daring experiment
to find out what our clothes
REALLY say about us.
Take a good look
at the people in the room,
and write down a word
that describes
who you think they are.
It's going to be hard
to hear the truth
about how other people see you.
Oh, those the first ones...
Sorry.
KATHRYN: I thought it was
really important to reunite the
group.
To see how far
their friends have gone.
I'd like you to write a new
word
to describe the people that
you see in front of you,
as you see them now.
You do not have to be bound
by your first impression,
of who you once were.
And have they gone back to
the old version of themselves?
Have they progressed even
further than when I left them?
I'm incredibly excited,
a little bit nervous.
