My son, the artist.

I guess.

You know, when you're ready

for a real show,

just say the word, I can get you

set up in any gallery on the west side.

Okay.

The bar at this hotel's great.

Heavy pour. Right?

What do you say we grab a waitress,

get a couple of martinis,

maybe a shrimp c*ck.

Plant a flag right here,

in my favorite table,

with my favorite son.

Yeah, I'm your only son.

And I don't eat shrimp.

Well, calamari then.

Come on, man. The world's your oyster.

Actually, they serve those here too.

Come on, celebrate with your old man, huh?

Okay.

Okay. Yeah. Um

Why don't you get me

a strawberry daiquiri?

Makes me feel like I'm at the beach.

Good choice.

[in halting speech] At the beach.

What?

I'm

at the beach.

[ominous music playing]

[line ringing]

- [Ralph over phone] Yeah?

- Did he do it yet?

You haven't heard from your girl?

Which girl? Heard what?

What do you mean which girl?

The girl with one eye.

Did your nephew find Lisa Nova

and finish her off?

I haven't heard from him.

Tell you the truth,

I don't got a good feeling about it.

Yeah, how the f*ck do you think I feel?

Do I need to come punch her ticket myself?

When you hear from James, let me know.

- [high-pitched ringing]

- Oh, God.

[groans]

Stop!

in your backyard.

How the hell does that happen?

It's so funny.

When I first heard that it happened,

I flashed to you at Spago at a meeting,

and you'd just seen the, um

with the redneck vampires?

- Near Dark.

Near Dark. Right, yes.

And you said to me, "Alvin, it's wild,

when they go out in the sun

to talk to you about. [clears throat]

back to the girl who directed the short.

I thought you said she was a train wreck.

All ego, unstable, emotional.

Well, yeah, she is.

She's an artist, you know,

but just as an option,

before I go back to her.

An option?

Let's just give her the movie back.

That's what I said from the beginning

and you kept pushing back.

I saw raw talent in that short.

Why don't we just give her a call now?

Excuse me. Can we get the phone

over here, please?

Yeah. Just pull out your

little black book and give her a call.

I don't think she's

gonna be available at this time of day.

You can just leave her a message.

Yeah, okay. [sniffles]

[ringing]

[Lisa on recording]

Hey, it's Lisa. Leave a message.

[beeps]

[Lou] Hey, Lisa. It's Lou Burke.

I'm actually here with Alvin Sender.

- Hey, Lisa! Let's do lunch!

- Um

We were just calling to touch base

with you about you know what.

So just give me a ring

whenever you get this.

[Lisa] Hello?

Oh, hey.

You're there.

Hi, Lou.

How are you feeling?

Why do you ask?

Weren't you under the weather

or something?

Oh, you mean my fractured skull?

So, you're

You're okay? Your health is good?

My health is great.

Great! Great.

Um, Alvin and I

were just having a conversation

about bringing you back on board.

So [clears throat]

Why don't you and I meet up,

and see if we can make that happen.

Um, actually, Jonathan said

you two might be getting together,

so why don't you bring him with you?

After you help him with his, um, thing.

You know, get him all straightened out.

And get everything back to normal.

Why would I do that?

Don't you wanna do your movie?

Why would I trust you?

I mean, you're trying to k*ll me.

Ah, well, yeah No, I

I see what you're saying,

but I don't want you to worry.

All right? Everything is good.

You k*lled my friend.

What?

Everything is not good.

No, no, you're you're mixed up.

I'm standing right next to his body.

I pulled your letter opener

out of his eye.

I wasn't actually a producer on that one.

Um, look. [clears throat]

Everything's good.

Let's meet up. Just take care

of that stuff with Jonathan and

I told you.

But I actually have a project

I'd like to pitch to you

that I've been thinking about.

It's based on a book.

It's not published yet, but

It's a story about a father

who someone hurts his son.

And this guy, I mean,

he just goes to the ends of the earth

to get revenge on this person.

He'll stop at nothing

to k*ll this person

and when he finally finds this person

You can guess how the story ends.

How does that sound?
