Post by bunniefuu »

[Raffaele Sollecito] My sister is
police. She will know what to do.

[reporter] Police say that
evidence places Rudy Guede

firmly at the
scene of the crime.

[Amanda Knox] Rudy admitted
to only partial guilt,

opted for a speedy trial,

was tried before we
were, and separately.

And the prosecution could then
focus on their real targets,

me and Raffaele.

I have no idea how this
could have happened.

Raffaele said that you
weren't at his house,

that you asked him
to lie for you.

-He's taken away your alibi.
-What?

They were so... so hard with me,

and I was so s-scared, and
terrified, and confused.

[♪ Dramatic music playing]

[people chattering]

[officer speaking Italian]

[Translator Vittoria Noce] And why
did Raffaele turn off his phone?

Um, be... Uh, be... His dad
calls him every night, and...

[Translator Noce
speaking Italian]

I don't... We wanted
to be left alone.

[Translator Noce
speaking Italian]

[Amanda] Do... Do I
need a lawyer right now?

[Amanda] Yeah, yeah, you know,

-to save the battery...
-[sighs] Okay.

[♪ Ominous music playing]

[people speaking Italian]

[♪ Ominous music playing]

No.

[voices echoing, overlapping]

[♪ light, dramatic
music playing]

[♪ Suspenseful music playing]

[hands clapping]

[fingers snapping]

[Raffaele whimpers]

No.

[panicked breathing]

[Valentina Greco] Mm-hmm?

[Raffaele sighs]

[softly whimpers]

[♪ Upbeat Italian
pop music playing]

[Raffaele Sollecito]
Every story has a hero.

[♪ Upbeat pop music
continues playing]

When you are a little child, you
believe in magic forces for good.

Super humans flying with capes
and crowns that fight for justice.

[Raffaele] In time, you learn
real heroes, they are not so many.

[Raffaele] And when
someone needs saving,

it is up to you to step in.

[♪ Upbeat Italian
pop music playing]

[♪ Music fades out]

[guard 2 chuckles]

[guard 1 sighs]

Are you okay?

Yeah.

-Yeah. Today was rough.
-Mm-hmm.

All that arguing.

Hey, what were our
lawyers so upset about?

Because Mignini was supposed
to give them the DNA report

so they can prepare our
defense, but they are...

how you say... stalling?

But it's okay, you know. It's
okay because they will fight

and will win.

Hey.

[♪ Soft traditional
Italian music playing]

-[chuckles softly]
-Yeah?

When we get out from here,

I take you for a nice
dinner to celebrate.

What do you think?

[Amanda chuckles softly]

You do still owe me truffles.

-[chuckles] Yes.
-[Amanda chuckles, sniffles]

-We go to Gubbio.
-I want lunch and dinner.

-And breakfast, no?
-And breakfast. [chuckles]

[Raffaele] "Doormat." "Puppet."

The false identities
assigned to me

by people who didn't know me.

But Amanda knew me.

-[♪ Dark dramatic music playing]
-[metal clanging]

That didn't help
me much in here.

[prisoners shouting]

[Raffaele] The protected
section of Terni prison

was Dante's ninth
circle of hell.

-[food squishing]
-Home to rapists,

pedophiles, violent
criminals, and me.

[♪ Dramatic music continues]

Back at the beginning
of my imprisonment,

my cellmate was a snitch...

[spits]

...trading information
for reducing his sentence.

-[prisoners shouting]
-[buzzers blaring]

[camera clicking]

Raffa?

[people chattering]

[speaking Italian]

[whispering in Italian]

[Raffaele] The
similarity of my sneakers

to the bloody shoe
prints at the crime scene

was the only thing the cops had to
directly connect me to the m*rder.

So, when the police ignored a similar
print in Rudy Guede's apartment,

my dad took his
findings to the public.

-[♪ Ominous music playing]
-[door thuds]

[Vanessa shushing]

No.

[♪ Tense dramatic music playing]

-[waves softly crashing]
-[seagulls cawing]

[Raffaele] Mamma.

[♪ Haunting music playing]

[people chattering]

[papers rustling]

[♪ light jazz music playing]

[spectators murmuring]

[Raffaele chuckles]

[snickering]

[Raffaele] They say she's
bringing me down with her,

but how could that be,
when every time I see her,

she make me feel I can float?

I needed that feeling,
today especially.

The scientific evidence
against me was being presented,

and the prosecution still
hadn't handed over the reports

to my lawyers,

leaving us unable to properly
prepare our counterargument.

I believe Mignini's
co-prosecutor was brought on

to handle the broader theatrics,

the theatrics beneath even
a showman like Mignini.

[projector beeping]

[♪ Dramatic music playing]

-[spectators murmuring]
-[Raffaele] They meant forced by me.

[laughter]

[Raffaele] Comodi was
making me into an animal,

into a savage.

[reporters shouting]

When at the beginning,
I was a nobody,

the "weak link" in
the police's story.

But when my Nikes gave them evidence
of my so-called involvement,

they turned me into the
profile of a k*ller.

-[♪ Dramatic music playing]

[prisoners shouting]

[Raffaele] After

in July of 2009, the
courts went on recess.

Three brutal months with
nothing to do but think.

The letters from Amanda
got fewer and fewer

until there were none.

Later that summer, we finally
received Dr. Ippolito's DNA reports.

Four months late and incomplete,
but my lawyers, they have hope.

[spectators murmuring]

[spectators murmuring]

[♪ Tense music playing]

[Giulia Bongiorno] Mm.

[projector beeps]

[spectators murmuring]

[spectators laughing]

[Raffaele] That is when I know, despite
how logical my lawyer's argument,

those delayed DNA reports

made us four months too
late with our rebuttal.

The bias was deep,
the damage was done.

[overlapping shouting]

[Raffaele] His consideration was
quick, and his decision was final.

There would be no independent
review of the DNA evidence.

[♪ light, dramatic
music playing]

[inaudible]

[Raffaele] It was
a blow to our case.

[reporter 1] Amanda, this way!

[Raffaele] It seemed
we were losing...

and I could feel
something shift.

-[cameras clicking]
-[reporter 2] Amanda!

[♪ light, dramatic
music continues]

[Raffaele] I was
losing her, too.

[Amanda] Dear Raffaele,

thank you for your drawings,

but I'm afraid you've mistaken
my friendship for something else.

We could have had something
special, it's true.

But right now, I need to
focus on getting myself free.

I hope this doesn't hurt you.

[Vanessa sighs] Yo.

Okay.

my mother's death,

I had made a personal extended

who were most important.

[praying in Italian]

That morning, I
prayed for Amanda.

I prayed for her family.

-[people chattering]

For Meredith and all

-No.
-Weirdo.

-[chuckles] No.
-I can tell.

I was thinking you
look beautiful.

[Raffaele chuckles]

Okay. I was thinking...

[Raffaele] Oh.

How?

Well...

Mm-hmm?

And I'm...

easy-going.

-No. No! Okay, a tiny bit.
-Sì. But I wish

I knew you in high school.

No.

I was...

-No, it cannot be true.
-No, I wasn't.

-Come on.
-No.

-I had bleached hair like Naruto.

-No.

-Can you imagine?
-[laughing]

And I... I show my mom the
picture and I start begging her,

like, "Mom, please,
please, please, please."

Till I finally... I won.

-You won?
-Yes.

Wow. Are you a mama's boy?

[sighs]

[♪ Soft melancholy
music playing]

[Raffaele groaning lightly]

Yes.

-Yeah?
-I was.

Um, no, she died two years ago.

I'm sorry.

How?

How did she die?

A heart attack.

[Raffaele sighs]

Because, um...

-My dad, he was, um, to be remarried.
-Mm-hmm?

So, my mother's
heart, it was just...

And she was so depressed
and so sad and she was...

She was... calling me

over and over again,
like, day and night,

saying something like...

"I have nothing to live for."

Or, "I just want to die."

Saying, "Why you leave me?"

So, sometimes I... I can't even
answer the phone, you know?

-And...
-It's not your fault.

-Uh, no, I-I...
-No, it's...

-It's not your fault.
-No, I... I mean...

[Amanda] It's not.

[Raffaele stammering]

It's really good that
you went to school.

It is! That's... That's
all you can do in life,

is do your best and
be true to yourself.

You know?

[both speaking Italian]

Exactly. [chuckles softly]

It's like...

everyone says I'm like
Amélie, 'cause I'm a weirdo.

So what? I'm a weirdo. Like,
what am I gonna do, change?

Make everyone else happy? No.

Um...

You know...

I was everything to her.

Who are you to you?
