There are now billions of card game players in the world, to an extent where card games have become a necessity, a part of our lives.

01x55 - Casear's Empress

Post by bunniefuu »

We've reached the semifinal
round of the tournament finals!

This is the second match of the second fight!

The match is approaching its middle stage!

It's Yuri Usui from Team Caesar...

...versus Misaki Tokura from Team Q4!

Oh! Yuri has quite the lineup!

In particular, the Dailadies on the left
and right is a point worth mentioning.

Prepare yourself!

Cosmo Roar's skill!

I add +2000 to the power of Enigman Wave!

Enigman Wave's power is 12000...

If Dailady's attack hits, another
unit can get +3000 power.

Naturally, she would give the power to...

On top of that, at the beginning of Enigman
Wave's attack, if its power is 14000 or above,

it gains a new skill.

That skill to draw a card
if its attack hits...

In that case...

I attack Goddess of the Half
Moon, Tsukuyomi with Dailady!

I guard with Dream Eater!

Next, I attack with the Dailady on my left!

I guard with Gemini!

She sees right through her opponent's
strategy and protects against it! That's our Misaki!

Not bad. She was able to protect
herself against Wave's power increase.

But... I'm not done yet.

With a boost from Magical Police, Quilt,

Enigman Wave attacks!

Drive check!

Even though Misaki protected
herself against the powering up...

She got a critical?!

GC, yo?!

I give all the effects to Enigman Wave!

Caesar's Empress

Since the attack hit,
Quilt's skill activates!

I switch a card from my hand.

That's the end of my turn.

She's lucky with drawing triggers...

But... I'm not going to lose!

I draw!

With Goddess of the Half Moon's skill, I
get to check the top five cards of my deck.

No triggers...

Beautiful, shining goddess!

I ride...

Misaki is riding Amaterasu!

Show her the power of a grade 3!

Amaterasu's skill! I Soulcharge,
then check the top card of my deck.

I put the card to the bottom of the deck.

So far, I haven't come across any triggers...

The odds are good that a trigger will
come up during my next drive check.

This Amaterasu will make it happen!

I attack Dailady with Battle
Maiden, Tagitsuhime!

I see. She wants to remove the
Dailadies, who can intercept.

Amaterasu attacks Enigma Wave!

No guard!

Twin drive check!

There it is! I got a critical trigger!

That's the end of my turn.

Wow! To draw a trigger right there...

I'm sure Misaki knew the chances were high.

She will have remembered the
cards she checked earlier.

I get it! Misaki's memory really is awesome!

She also calculates future probabilities,

moving closer to the sure thing
that will bring her victory.

That's Misaki's way of fighting.

I draw!

Beautiful, shining superwoman of love!

I ride...

And then...

...I call...

Next, I activate Cosmo Roar's skill again!

I give the power to Enigman Rain!

Enigman Rain, 12000...

I see. That's what she's after...

I attack Tagitsuhime with Dailady!

She intends to keep me from intercepting,
so Enigman Rain's attack will go through...

...but...

With a boost from Daisy, Miracle
Beauty attacks Amaterasu!

With a boost from Magical Police, Quilt,

Enigman Rain attacks Amaterasu!

Oh, no you don't!

I guard with Psychic Bird
and White Hare of Inaba!

Twin drive check!

That's the end of my turn.

Impressive...

Just what I expected. She
minimized the damage.

She protected herself against Rain's attack.

Since she's got a limited
hand, it was her best option.

If Enigman Rain's power reaches

another unit can stand.

And if she stands Miracle Beauty,

the card next to it...

She can activate that card's skill to
make the rear-guard Daisy stand, too.

If even one of Rain's attacks goes through,

it'll mean enduring another
attack from the right side.

She managed to figure all that out. They
didn't give her the second match for nothing.

Still, Misaki...

Team Caesar's Empress is
going to go beyond that.

You've made an accurate
assessment of the situation.

But...

...in your shoes, I think I would've been...

...a little more adventurous.

I'm more interested in
certainty than adventures!

I activate Amaterasu's skill!

This will come with a drive check!

I call...

White Hare of Inaba's skill!

One of the cards in my hand goes to the Soul.

Ichibyoshi, Crescent Moon, and
Half Moon are in the Soul!

This way, Goddess of the Full Moon,
Tsukuyomi, can be used to attack with 11000 power!

Show her some grade 3 girl power!

Go for it, Misaki!

I'm going to keep Dailady from intercepting!

I attack with Goddess of
the Full Moon, Tsukuyomi!

Amaterasu attacks Enigman Rain
with a boost from White Hare!

I guard with Cosmo Fang and Justice Cobalt!

That's a total of 30000 shield!

Wow... She had that much
defensive power left...

Twin drive, first check...

Right now, Yuri has 4 damage.

Should I give this critical
trigger to Amaterasu?

Or to Full Moon?

If I give it to Amaterasu,

and a draw trigger comes up
during my second check...

...I'll win...

But the attack won't be able to go through
with anything other than a draw trigger.

The critical effects will be wasted, too...

In which case... I should
give the effects to...

...Goddess of the Full Moon, Tsukuyomi!

I give all the effects to Goddess
of the Full Moon, Tsukuyomi!

+1 critical and +5000 power!

Sure.

That's what you would normally do.

It was close, huh?

If you'd given Ginger's critical to
Amaterasu, I would have taken 2 damage.

This fight would be over.

I know the choice you
faced about the trigger.

You want to gain any advantage
in a fight, no matter how small.

So you chose the option with
the higher chance of success.

There's nothing wrong with that.

But, you know...

...there's no guarantee that you're
always going to win like that!

I give this draw trigger to Goddess
of the Full Moon, Tsukuyomi!

And then...

...I attack Enigman Rain!

Guard!

This, too...

Next...

That's the end of my turn.

It's too bad.

Thanks to that, I used up my whole hand, too.

Okay, now I'll show you the way I fight.

That is, my image of how to win.

Instead of worrying about probabilities,
I pull out all the stops.

When I do that...

...the cards will answer my call!

I draw!

I call Miracle Beauty!

Cosmo Roar's skill!

I add +2000 to the power of Enigman Rain!

With a boost from Daisy,

Miracle Beauty attacks Amaterasu!

With a boost from Magical Police, Quilt,

Enigman Rain attacks Amaterasu!

It's the same as before.

If Enigman Rain's attack goes through,

Miracle Beauty and Daisy will stand.

I won't let it!

I guard with Ginger and Dream Eater!

The same kind of guard as before...

Except...

...even if Rain's attack doesn't go through,
it's possible for Miracle Beauty to stand.

As long as a stand trigger shows up...

Then Daisy will also stand, and I
can attack again with full power.

You don't draw triggers
based on probabilities.

You draw them with a strong
will that desires victory.

Twin drive...

First check!

Second check!

It can't be...

Stand trigger?

Misaki!

This is Yuri... Team Caesar's Empress...

She summoned a trigger, as
she would a loyal subject.

Stand trigger!

Miracle Beauty, stand! +5000 power.

And then I activate her skill...

...to make Daisy stand!

I'm going to send her to finish you off.

With a boost from Daisy, Miracle
Beauty attacks Amaterasu!

Caesar Yuri Usui
Q4 Misaki Tokura

The winner is Yuri Usui from Team Caesar!

I don't believe it... Misaki lost...

That one draw...

It was close. You had a chance to win there.

During a fight, there's a moment
where the chance of winning arrives,

and it bypasses all plans and probabilities.

Finding that moment is really
important to me, see...

Yuri...

Well, that's one kind of
fighting style, anyway.

That was a shame.

That was my first time against
someone who fights like that.

That's right.

Misaki, the way you fight...

...is to seek out the highest probability,
calculate, and think it through.

Certainly, it's a different
style than Yuri's.

But...

...it's not a question
of which is good or bad.

Mastering your own way of fighting...

...is important for a fighter.

That's what I believe.

Yeah.

At last, the third match of the second
fight of the semifinals is about to begin!

It's s-o exciting, isn't it?

Team Caesar Kenji Mitsusada
vs
Team Q4 Aichi Sendou

It's Aichi Sendou versus Kenji Mitsusada!

The team that advances to the final round
depends on the outcome of this fight.

Well, here I go.

Your opponent is the leader of Team Caesar,
a really tough rival among tough rivals.

But I'm sure you can do it, Brother!

Thank you.

The team that wins this fight
will be pitted against us.

Hmph. Whichever one wins, they'll
be no challenge for AL4.

That power subdues and humiliates everyone.

Vanguard fighting isn't about subduing
people or anything like that.

I'm going to stick with a Vanguard
fight that's different from yours.

Show me your "different" Vanguard fight.

Here we are at last, Aichi.

Kamui and Gai...

Then Misaki and Yuri...

They were both wonderful fights.

I want to share a fight like that with you!

Aichi, I like your face like this.

Let's have a supreme fight!

Right!

This is the Vanguard Championship
Final Tournament!

Let the third match of
the semifinals... begin!

Stand up, Vanguard!

Wingal Brave!

Enigman Flow!

I draw.

I ride Enigman Ripple.

I activate Enigman Flow's skill...

...and on top of that,
Enigman Ripple's skill.

That's the end of my turn.

I draw.

I ride Little Sage, Marron!

I move Wingal Brave...

...and call Barcgal!

I also superior call Flogal!

With a boost from Wingal Brave...

...Flogal attacks Enigman Ripple!

I attack with Marron!

My turn's finished.

I draw.

I ride Enigman Wave!

Enigman Wave's skill!

+1000 power!

I call Masked Police, Grander!

I attack Marron with Grander!

I attack with Enigman Wave!

That's the end of my turn.

They each have 2 damage...

EH2D!

Looks like they've started by trading jabs...

Barcgal, call Llew!

Counterblast!

I put Barcgal, Flogal and Llew into the Soul!

Stand up, my avatar!

I superior ride...

...Blaster Blade!

That Blaster Blade combo...

I haven't seen it in a long time.

Yes, since Aichi was using that
Shadow Paladin deck for awhile.

It feels like Brother's come home!

Call!

Here it comes...

Pongal's skill, Counterblast!

I add Soul Saver Dragon to my hand!

I'm ready.

Mr. Mitsusada, I'm gonna charge
at you with everything I've got!

Just like I thought!

As expected, Mitsusada
sees right through Aichi.

Naturally.

That man ranks as one of the strongest
Vanguard fighters in the world.

Well, for someone who doesn't
possess power like Ren, anyway...

I haven't sensed him
using Psyqualia so far...

...but if he doesn't use it
here, he won't beat Mitsusada.

Did you want to show me
your inevitable defeat?

Well, Aichi?

Misaki, that was really close.

Yuri taught me to be mentally
prepared for a fight.

There's really nothin' better than being
able to play against a strong fighter!

Mr. Mitsusada sees through my tactics...

I'd better leave the weak tricks behind
and go after him for all I'm worth!

Next time: The Man They Call "The Emperor"!

Psyqualia's glow... The
image is talking to me...

Aichi, I'll answer your
fighting spirit with my own!

Mr. Mitsusada...
