Hola!

-We made it.
-Ha!

Oh my God!

-This is our home for a week.
-She's the moment.

This is crazy!

-Wow, guys.
-How cool!

-This is crazy.
-Oh my God.

I'm so excited to be in Cabo.

This is our final camp.

So I'm feeling sad. It's bittersweet.

That being said,
this villa is un-f*cking-believable.

I am here to work,

but the work starts tomorrow.

-Cheers, baby.
-We deserve this.

Look at this!

This is what we've worked for!

-Oh my God.
-This is stunning.

-I'm moving in.
-Stunning.

They're gonna have to
drag me out of here by my hair.

Yo, if you can't write a hit
out here, bro, you suck.

How many hits would you have to write
to afford this place?

-One.
-About two?

-One and a half?
-One and a half.

One and a half.

I can't wait for everybody else
to get here. This is crazy.

Where are the people?

Jenna and Stephen got in a car accident.

In a car accident?

-Stop.
-Yeah.

Are they okay?

-I have no idea. I hope and think so.
-They said they were okay. Yeah.

Um, Sevyn had, like,
a passport thing, right?

She lost her passport.
Or she couldn't find it.

-That's what I heard.
-Sounds about right.

And then where's Nova?

-They're coming in tomorrow.
-They're on a different flight.

-Yeah.
-Wait, and then Ferras?

Yeah, Ferras isn't coming.

-He's not coming?
-No. I'm bummed.

We came in kind of
after y'all had already bonded,

and so I think that was just…

For sure. I felt that too.

I can't wait for everybody else
to get here.

-Oh my God, it says…
-Read it.

Okay.

It says, "Welcome to Los Cabos."

"Your villa is complete with your personal
chef, butler, and staff for your stay."

"Kick back, relax,
and enjoy the sun and sand."

Wow.

I just want to say, like,
this week is gonna be amazing,

and I feel like we're really gonna write

the biggest smash
that we can possibly f*cking make.

-Let's go.
-You feel me?

-So you know the cheers.
-Yeah.

-Always up.
-Always up.

-Never down.
-Never down.

Spread the money all around.

Oh, it's dinner time.

How y'all feeling?

Can you give me some of that tequila?
Not a… Not a shot, though.

-On the rocks?
-On the rocks.

-There he is. The Biggest.
-Yes, sir.

You get some rest?

Oh, I took a little nap.
I'm feeling recharged.

A little re-up.

-Where everybody at?
-I don't know.

-Tommy! You know we left Nashville, right?
-Come on, man. Nashville come where I go.

Look at him.
Man, you look like your date stood you up.

-It's sad.
-Where should we sit?

Harv took the middle seat.
He's a middle-seat guy.

It takes a certain kind of person
to be a middle seat.

I don't want that pressure.

You know, right before
I wrote the Peace Treaty, you know…

It was me, you know, Barack.
LeBron was there.

-You talking about my birthday party?
-Exactly.

-Bon appétit.
-Great. Thank you.

Is this everybody?

Yeah, for tonight.

You got to hold it down
for the ladies, Whit. You by yourself now.

Oh my God, I know. The firing squad.

Uh-oh.

How hard is it, like,
being in the music industry

and, as a woman, trying to find love?

My life involves so much novelty
and travel, and I love that.

But it just sometimes feels like,

what's good for my career
hasn't been good for my personal life.

-What do you want, though?
-Honestly, it's a math problem.

I do not know.

-You got X's and Y's in it, don't you?
-Mmm.

-X's and Y's.
-Is that another song?

I mean, it's… it's a bummer.

X and Y's.

My boyfriend and I
ended up ending our relationship,

actually, in the middle
of the Nashville sessions.

Hold on. You went through a breakup
during the session?

We probably wouldn't be in this situation
if we lived in the same city,

but it's just, like,

me being in Berlin, writing songs.

Me being in Miami, writing songs.

Like, how do you… how do you become
a mother doing that?

-Wow.
-Where does your husband live?

Like, my ex,
he lived in, uh, North Carolina.

I'll make North Carolina,
Nashville, and LA work.

Like, I'll put another city
on the grid for love.

You wanna make it work, so you will
sacrifice yourself to make it work.

That's why this breakup was really tough.

I still feel like
I'm trying to handle this and accept it.

In a lot of ways,
it still feels really fresh.

But I feel really fortunate
that I have work in front of me to do.

I would much rather be here in Cabo
than alone with my thoughts at home.

-I'm getting in the hot tub.
-You're hot-tubbing?

-Yeah. Oh damn.
-Nobody's there.

No one's at the bar.

It don't matter. We go get our own bottle.

Y'all want me to bartend?

-What y'all want?
-What's the Tommy Special?

Hold on, let me get busy.

Okay.

-Let me do these.
-Let him cook.

Let me cook.

I went to bartending school.
There's a little fun fact about me.

-What?
-Yep.

Nobody saw it.

-It does look nice.
-It looks nice.

-I…
-Try that.

Well, obviously,
I wasn't there for Bahamas.

I know there was a lot of stuff
that I wasn't there for, so…

Bro was a whole night.

-He goes right in.
-I mean…

-Like, it was the whole night, bro.
-Oh, the last night.

-We were at the pool.
-Yeah.

And Stephen had a lot to say

about how he felt that
you didn't deliver on the platform.

He just didn't feel great about
how it kind of spilled into an emotion…

I'm sorry. I just need a minute.

Okay.

He was just, like,
"Yo, if I didn't deliver,

everybody would have gave me
way more sh*t."

-That was the night…
-He was going to wake you up.

"You know what? I'll just wake him up."

And I was like,
"You go wake Trey up if you want to."

Okay. That's interesting.

I wish we could've, like, maybe
had that conversation all together.

-Or maybe…
-We didn't want to wake you up.

But, like, this could've happened
either next day…

It was all under a night we were drinking.
It was our last night.

-It sounds like a drunk comment.
-Yeah.

I would personally let that roll.

And dare I say it,
a slightly insecure comment as well

because I wouldn't…
I wouldn't say that sh*t about…

We all have off days.
Every single one of us here has off days.

I just think it's interesting you have
a lot to say when someone's not there.

I have taken the brunt of that session,

and it upsets me a little bit that, like,
people are saying that I didn't deliver.

Like, I actually did go and deliver.

I just needed to take a minute outside,

and then I came back into our room
and helped out.

So, to then just say that I didn't deliver
is honestly really hurtful.

Everybody knows your character
and knows how f*cking amazing you are

and knows what a heart you have
and your talent,

and, like, you know,
that goes without saying.

Really.

-Are we gonna hit this beach or what?
-Beach? What are we thinking?

Everybody, refresh your drinks,
and let's go.

To the beach?

Stephen is just unfiltered.

And there are people
that are gonna not like you.

And, of course,
they'll be gunning for your downfall.

That's expected. It doesn't hurt.

But it hurts when it comes from someone
that you actually care about and respect.

-Come on.
-I am taking my shoes off.

-You need help? You good?
-No, I got it.

Where are you going?

No, I just need a second. It's okay.

When the walls fall down

The sweet little family's in shambles.

When the walls fall down

When the walls fall down

-Morning.
-Morning.

Morning.

-You're so romantic right now.
-It's the romance. We're in Mexico.

Some would say I'm the most romantic.

Well, we'll see about that.

-Hi!
-Well, if it isn't…

-Hi!
-There they go.

g*dd*mn, crew.

Where's the energy at? You tired?

Yeah.

Hearing that Stephen said what he said,

it's made me rethink
my friendship with Stephen.

So I'm really hoping,
at least the first day,

or at least until we're able
to have a conversation,

that I'm not paired with him.

-What's up, buddy?
-Benjy.

I'm sorry about the freakin' wreck.

Oh no. It was just a little sideswipe.
Woke me up.

Oh my God! Are those my people?

Woo!

Hey!

Hey!

Hey, I love you so much.

Welcome!

We're a day late. Everybody's gotten
started already, so we got to catch up.

But the team is writing for Usher.

The Usher.

-Yeah!
-Dreaming this trip.

Usher has so many hits.

The challenge is finding something new
that's gonna invigorate his energy

because, obviously, he can do anything.

And if we find the right niche,
the right tempo, the right melody

for him to really, really be inspired,

-I think that's the biggest key.
-Yes.

-Let's just have fun. It's Usher.
-Yeah, we're just having fun.

That's it. You can't lose with Usher.
You know what I'm saying?

We've lived off of
what he's given us for this long.

It's like,
"Where do we wanna push him to next?"

And that is so exciting to me.

I f*cking love Usher.
Like, who doesn't love Usher?

He's like the voice of my childhood
and my adulthood, truth be told.

And, um, he's on my bucket list, you know.

I have probably a top-three
on my bucket list.

And it's him, Beyoncé, and Rihanna.

So I don't want to put
too much pressure on it,

but it's imperative
we write a hit record for him.

It's imperative that
I write a hit record for Usher.

-
What's going on?
-L.A.!

-
Hey!
-There he is.

-Hi.
-Hey.

-What's up?
-Oh my God, look at this. Hi, Jenna.

Hi! Love you.

L.A. Reid gave me my first shot.

He is one of the biggest music moguls
of the last three generations.

And he has taught me everything I know.

I see you, Tommy Brown.

-What's poppin'?
-Look at him.

Wow, we've got a room full of geniuses.
This is incredible.

So, as we all know,
Usher is a remarkable entertainer.

And the thing
I've spoken to him about lately

is how to have real fun and dance
and make people dance,

but not sound like it came from the s,
not like it came from the s,

but something that's new,
uh, in the dance world.

When we, you know, get those shoulders up,
that's when you know we got that tempo.

-Harv!
-Yeah.

If it just so happens that you come up
with that incredible ballad,

like, we're not rejecting it,
just to be clear.

-All right.
-A hit's a hit, right? We'll give you one.

-
A hit is a hit.
-Yes, sir.

This is our moment
This is our moment

Hola!

-Jny. Nice to meet you.
-Nice to meet you.

Hi. Don't write a better song than us.

Hi, how's it going? J.

What's up?

Stephen, nice to meet you, bro.

Can I just say I'm really happy
to be in the room with all you guys.

Me too. Very happy.
We're gonna k*ll it.

I wrote a song for Usher
on his last record.

The challenge in writing for Usher

is doing something
that hasn't already been done.

The exciting part is that
you can use every tool in the toolbox.

He's a true superstar. They don't really
make them like that anymore.

Okay.

What you been waitin' on?

-There he is.
-Stomp. Get it. Uh! Uh! Uh!

Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Today, I'm writing with Nova Wav and Trey.

And I'm super excited

'cause this is my first time writing
with Nova Wav this whole camp.

And I know Trey.
Like, Trey got this look in his eye.

Like he's…
This is redemption time for Trey.

So I already know
this session gonna be crazy.

Tommy, where are you?

Taking your sweet time.

Trying to figure out what Usher needs.
We need you to lead us.

You know what? I'm multi-genre, okay?

If there's any hope for this session,
it's gonna be that Tommy's in it.

We had a great write for John Legend.

I'm hoping that he can really pull
a lot of the weight in this session

because he has a great background
in this type of music,

and he's great at directing the room.

What vibes are we on?

Here's the thing, Tommy.
This is not my wheelhouse.

I'm gonna say whatever,
but I'm gonna defer to y'all

because y'all have
more experience in this space.

All right.

This is a scenario where
I just don't know how to write this song.

That's the first time I've felt like that.

I was thinking of the word "confirmation."

Like, "Let me be your confirmation."
If you're feeling yourself, you feel sexy…

Love that. That's fire.

"I'll be your confirmation.
I'll make you feel good."

Yeah.

-L.A. was talking…
-Yeah.

…and the word "unaminous"
came into my mind.

-Uh-huh.
-Mmm.

Like, "You and me is unaminous."
It's like, in a sexual way…

The way, like, she feels about me
and the way I feel about her or whatever

is unaminous.

Uh-huh.

Yeah. Unanimous.

Do you think he knows
he's pronouncing "unanimous" wrong?

I think he's pronouncing it right
in his brain.

Yes. What is he saying?
I can't even do it that way.

-U… Unaminous.
-U… U…

-Unamimous.
-What is it?

-"Unaminous."
-That's the new way to say it.

-Yes. We're switching it.
-That's it.

What kind of space
y'all feel like for Usher?

I think we knock out two things today.

We're gonna do a skate song…

I have a different opinion.

Don't k*ll me.

I think we gotta take our energy
and our beginning energy and, like,

put our brains together and dive into
how we can push him forward.

I think Sevyn's in a room
with three primarily pop writers,

and she does a lot of R&B,

so she probably feels inspired
to come in and lead.

The energy's a little different
than it typically is in the room,

so I think we just gotta… gotta lock in.
Gotta lock in.

So I had a couple ideas.

-Concept-wise.
-Okay, okay.

So I had one, like, working my appetite.

-Okay.
-And another one, like, swimwear.

Mmm.

Like, "You're like my swimwear."
I feel like that could be kind of cool.

I think swimwear…

Uh, I don't really like
how that sounds so much.

I don't wanna be like,
"Ay, yo, put on that swimwear."

For Usher, we can't have people guessing
what something means.

If it's not something
that catches us right away,

throw it out.

Definitely it's gotta be something
that feels a little left-field. A little…

So where we are right now,
this doesn't feel left-field,

if we're being honest. Right?

Do I like you in that dress? Yes

Are you the m*therf*cking best? Yes

Would I ever let you go? No

I can be your confirmation

Oh, that's cool.

Drop that, drop that Lo, lo, lo, location

-Hey! That's great.
-Drop that lo, lo, lo, location

That's fire.

It's just disjointed it lyrically,
but I like it.

I mean, it's just what people say.
"Drop that lo'."

Think you know I got it bad for ya
Bad for ya

-Woo!
-Trey soundin' good too.

I do

Yeah.

I love Trey's melodies.

He has these ideas, and then you can
kinda just add on top of it.

So I'm excited.

We making a song for the lovers.

Listen, turn them lights down low.

I need all them lights down.

And I can, oh
And I

What if we do the verse beginning,
and make it something that we repeat…

-…as a hook.
-Yeah, yeah. Whenever. Yeah.

-Saying no, no…
-Oh!

-
Cross my heart…
-Woo!

…is honestly another sign

Stop.

When we're laying melodies
or trying to just kinda fish for melodies,

it's… it's a very sensitive process
for a lot of creators

and for me, in particular.

You know,
we're all operating in our superpowers,

and I think that it's important to give
each other space when we're doing that

because we gotta get this record written.

And we cannot fail.

Okay, so how we feeling?
What y'all feeling?

-Like it, don't love it.
-Okay.

There's something about this…

-…that feels a little dated to me.
-Yeah, I agree.

Nothing's feeling, like, new.

You know when you're holding magic,

and I just don't think
we've stumbled upon that idea.

Do you think we just edit the hook…

-…and then do another hook?
-Yeah.

While y'all write, should I sneak
and see what others are doing?

Huh?

But you gotta come back.
We, uh… We need you.

You know what I'm saying?

-Ten minutes.
-Fine. We just can't do this without you.

I'll be back.

Try to feel as good As you look

Tommy leaves the room, and I'm just like,

"Come on. This is… You're the guy.
You need to be the guy this session."

And now we don't have the guy.

I'm also feeling like
maybe he just gave up on us.

Just feeling frustrated that, like,

I feel like I'm spinning my wheels.

I just feel like I'm trying really hard,
but I'm not getting anywhere.

Is the bass complicated?

-Yeah. A bit.
-Yeah.

I'm not happy with it.
You know what would help? A producer.

I don't wanna be comfortable
With being comfortable with you

It's like, "I don't want to be comfortable
with being comfortable with you."

Mm-mm. That makes no sense.

-How? I don't wanna be good--
-It's confusing.

I'm not vibing with Jenna's ideas today.

Uh, there's just a specific thing
that we're just trying to dial in on,

and that's all we have time for.

Just one comfortable, sis,
not comfortables.

We just need one comfortable,

so we can all be comfortable

and write this song comfortably,
you feel me?

It's either
"I want to get comfortable?" or…

I feel like the relatable thing is when
you're in a relationship for a long time,

you don't wanna be too complacent.

Yeah, you don't want to get bored.
You don't want it to get, like…

-Mmm, I like that.
-Yeah.

Like, "I just want to be
comfortable with you."

Like, "put myself aside,"
maybe, is the space.

Hi, Tom.

-Y'all hate when I walk in.
-Oh sh*t.

No, we don't.

Come on, wake up.
I think we should go talk.

Let's go.

This slide?

-We going to the beach? In shoes?
-Don't be scared.

Listen, water's undefeated.

We're not going to the water.
Do you wanna stay here?

So hear me out. We want to talk to you
about the other day

when you, um, cut Jenna off.

It rubbed me the wrong way,
and I was just like, "Dang."

I am, honestly, like…
I'm such an energy person,

so it's just like… but…

-I think that--
-Okay, next song?

Oh my God. Am I that boring?

-Like, yo, bro, don't do that to her.
-Right.

I think you guys saw
something that was misconstrued

as something trying to be disrespectful.

But, like, we're at the table,

and my girl's a little drunker than
she typically likes to be perceived as.

She's talking, she's doing her thing,

and I'm sitting here, and I'm like…
I can't really tap her…

-…because I'm being seen…
-Right.

…and I can't really say something
because I'm…

…being seen.

So the only thing I could do
in that moment is just be like,

"Next song."

I mean, I feel you ,%, bro.
But you can't talk to your girl like that.

-No. I didn't s… All I did--
-You know? Like, you…

Okay, but what could I do
in that situation?

You might gotta pull her to the side, bro.

-You might even…
-We don't have… Where?

You gotta be like, "Got a minute?
Let me holla at you for a second."

"We need a minute, real quick."

I just think us, as men and producers,
it's like, we have to be mindful of, like…

-…not undermining our female counterparts.
-For sure. For sure.

I… I tell her all the time
how incredible and powerful she is.

-She knows where my heart's at.
-Right.

But the reality of the situation is,

I don't give a f*ck what nobody thinks
about me except for her.

I'm just at a place, bro,
where, like, music is and the industry is

and what's going on in music
with people that we, you know, idolize.

It's a time for, like,
people to really hold people accountable.

And it can't be other men
letting other men be wrong.

We have to do the right thing, bro.

We have to make right about these wrongs
we all experience in the music industry.

Right.

I'm not saying that I don't feel like
I'm somewhat to blame.

I should've been more cognizant of
the situation and what was at stake.

But as far as, like, Harv and Tommy
thinking it was disrespectful,

it's not their business.

-I appreciate your pointing it out.
-No worries, brother. You know?

Appreciate you.
Your song's fire. Your song's trash.

Y'all get back to work.
I'll see you at the listening party.

-Yeah.
-All right, brother.

-So are we abandoning "comfortable?"
-No.

Not at all.
"Ain't trying to be comfortable with you…"

I'd rather be terrified
of what I've got to lose.

Does this feel like a hit to you guys?

What I'm saying,
if Usher drops this in ,

is this what you're looking for?

I'mma say this, and you might not like it.
But that starts with the production.

So I'mma be honest. We're writing it
according to our foundation.

If you want it to be forward,
you gotta push the production forward.

Because I am the R&B girl,
I'm the R&B artist,

I feel like I do bear a responsibility
to kind of help guide the ship.

But because I'm not a producer per se,

there's only so far I can lead the room.

And I don't like to leave a session

and… and not feel like we got one.

I will be honest.
I'm… I'm a little frustrated.

This doesn't really feel like
a real writing day.

Yeah, it feels like something else.

-We got minutes.
-We f*ck with that second verse?

But the other one is even more…

we've heard Usher do.

-I'mma be honest. It's a split.
-I feel like we need something to play…

-…and we got minutes.
-I don't give a f*ck about that.

I care about what's actually going to be…
you know what I mean?

I'm exhausted, and this session
feels like I'm trying to swim through mud.

But whether Sevyn thinks I'm literally
the best or worst producer in the world

does not affect my money, my career,
anything that I have going in real life.

I have multiple number one records.

Like, I… I've already proven
I do this for real.

Where's Tommy? We have ten minutes.

We can't control it, no

-Woo!
-Crazy!

You better walk by and sing that sh*t.

That's that, right there. That's the hook.

We need an extra, like,
couple hours to work on it.

All right, I guess that's it.

How was everybody's, uh, room today?

It was a hard day.

It was just a day where the synergy,
it was, like, elusive…

-…and we couldn't grab it.
-Yeah.

-Today has just been like a different day.
-Yeah.

And I could not get into it. You know?

Y'all are not the only ones.
I think we felt the same way in our room.

I loved my room today.

It was the first time that I was able
to work with these two amazing creatives.

Yes, yes, yes.

And I feel like we were able to, like,
tap into something really special today.

For sure, great room.

We were on the Zoom with L.A.,
and he was saying "love."

The word "unanimous" popped in my mind.

-Unanimous?
-Yeah.

Unanimous?

-Unanimous.
-Should we hear it?

Yes.

Mmm.

We making babies.

Like the wave need the beach

You know it takes two

Those drums sound great.

And I ain't never giving half to ya

Half to ya
You deserve the whole truth

Woo!

You know that you cover all my checklist
You do

Come on, Trey.

You know we fully in agreement
When we get this close

Ain't no point in leaving
When we're locked and loaded

Deep up in the feeling
And we can't control it

No, no

We go O.D. unanimous

We both big freaks, unanimous

How I feel about you
How you feel about me, yeah

That's unanimous

When I hear "Unanimous,"

my first instinct is,
Is the title too smart?

You know,
is it too big of a word for pop music?

When I hear the chorus,
I'm like, "They did it perfectly."

And it makes me love the title even more.

So, in my head, I'm thinking,

I wish that we had taken more of a risk
in our session

because we just… we don't have it today.

-That's baby-making music right there.
-I loved it.

I thought there was no way
to make the word "unanimous" sexy.

I will say, Tommy was not in our room
very much today.

He was in our room
helping us knock sh*t out too.

We could have used him… his help too.

I feel like it's tough

writing for somebody
that has so many multi-genre hits.

Yes.

-And also care so much about him.
-Yes.

-I've never written R&B at all.
-Right.

So it's just not something
I'm comfortable with.

So that kind of maybe put us
a step behind already from the get-go.

And maybe it's great, but at least,
in that moment, that's how we felt.

That's nasty.

This beat hard.

Do I like you in that dress? Yes

Are you the m*therf*cking best?

Yes

Would I ever let you go? No

Do I want to take you home?
Whoa, whoa, whoa

Tipsy watching what I say, hey

Do I need you right away?
Okay, okay

Baby, don't you go, go
Keep me waiting

Drop that lo, lo, lo location

Had you once, had you twice
Tried to leave it

Spin the block
Run it back and repeat it

And I like what I see
And I need it

I think "Location" is a four out of ten,
maybe a five. I don't love this song.

Like, I don't think it's special,
but, you know.

Win some, lose some.

Drop that lo, lo, lo location

That bounce in that part is so different.

And we didn't know
where it was gonna go, and that's…

-Neither did we.
-It was cool.

Even though I co-wrote this record,
I would not pitch this song to Usher.

-That's crazy.
-I'm being real.

I just wouldn't.
L.A. Reid, please don't hear this.

I respect that.

I feel like our song really suffered
'cause I can't sing that kind of music.

-No.
-That's not true.

Stop hating on yourself.

Honestly, us hating on our song,
that's what makes us great.

Like, I feel like that's why we show up.

We're like,
"Nine out of ten is not good enough."

Like, you need it to be an .

I'll personally take responsibility
for my room.

I think it starts with the producer.

Y'all should've had a better producer.

-We should've had a better producer?
-Yeah, because you suck.

-Oh my God.
-Oh, Tommy! Damn!

Kick somebody when they down. No!

Let's hear the song.
Let's hear it. Let's hear it.

I don't wanna be comfortable With you

I'd rather work all the time
To be the one you choose

I don't wanna be comfortable with you

I'd rather be terrified
Of what I've got to lose

-
Want you from head to toe
-Whoa, whoa!

I take this personal

Mess up from time to time
And I'm a mess when I do

So I don't wanna be comfortable
With you

I'd rather be terrified
Of what I got to lose

-That's it! That's all we've got.
-Nice!

That's crazy. I love that.

We wanted to push ourselves beyond
what it was that we heard from him before.

We struggled with finding the concept
that we felt like Usher needed.

Because, for me, I'll be personal.
I don't want to be comfortable with you.

It doesn't naturally sing like…

I don't know if I wanna sing that
and dance to that.

So far, this camp
is not a reflection of our talent,

what we're capable of doing.

And I hope somebody here
has a hit for Usher

because if we leave this camp
without a hit, it's not a great look.

So at this point,
it's kind of a team effort.

Jenna, how was today?

It's been interesting for me
because I'm not the type that's pushy.

I'm a team player. I'm always like…
You guys are cool, so I stay quiet.

It's not necessarily the most
rewarding feeling because I'm like…

It… It makes me feel a little weird
because I'm, like, just sitting here.

Truth be told, you have to learn
how you work with other people

and what our strengths
and our weaknesses are.

To me, it's never a pushy thing

because it always ruins
the energy of a room, right?

Like, "I don't wanna be comfortable
with being comfortable with you."

Mm-mm. That makes no sense.

Facts.

-This what y'all on? Y'all going barefoot?
-Yeah.

-Who walks on the beach with shoes?
-Tommy.

Barefoot, barefoot?

Yes. Get them toes in the sand, Tommy.
Let them dogs breathe.

Oh, we get to pick the seats.

Nothing like a hot fire on a hot night.

How cute.

This is so special. Look at this.

-Hey.
-Let's go.

Hi, y'all. Damn, y'all… Ooh!

Oh, don't fall.

You gotta take your Guccis
and your Pradas off.

I'm excited to write again
for Usher tomorrow.

-Yeah.
-Me too.

I feel like, today we was, like…
People, you know, just got in town…

-A warm-up
-…and there's a lot going on.

A lot of conversations were had
that needed to be had.

-That's important.
-Straight up.

-We can't glaze over sh*t.
-Right.

The sessions got more honest.

-Yeah.
-Yeah.

I wanted to, like, have a chat with you

because these three camps,
I've been fighting.

Right.

Literally battling
everything that's happening outside.

My finances, going through a breakup,

feeling like,
maybe I don't deserve to be here.

And I heard that the night of the session
that I had a rough time,

that, like, you were talking about
the way that people treated me

having that, like, moment,

you felt like
they would've ripped you apart for it

and that they were being light on me,
is what I heard.

Let me explain something.

I didn't know you
as good as I know you now.

And the thing is,
the next session was in Nashville.

We did "Country Country" and I'm like,
"This m*therf*cker's cold as f*ck."

The Nashville camp changed a lot for me

because not only did I get
to work with you,

but I also, like,
got to know you better as a person.

It's gotten blown out of proportion.

It wasn't like, "I don't like Trey,"
or "I don't think Trey's good."

I'm like, "I know Trey's good."

Here's where I'll stop you.

I wanna be very clear
about the issue that I have here.

This was never a conversation
that you and I had.

If you have something to say,
you say it to me.

-Hearing that, like…
-You're right.

…third-party was, like, really f*cked up.

You're totally right.
And that… that's on me.

I didn't mean to make you feel
a certain type of way

or make you… make you feel like
I was talking behind your back.

But I want you to know
I won't make the mistake again.

Good. Because I will tell you this now.

It will ruin our relationship.

I just wanna make sure
that everybody's okay over there.

You guys have been talking
this whole time.

Yeah, everything's good.
We just had a conversation about, like,

a conversation that happened
that was about me in the Bahamas.

In the Bahamas.

And this is for everybody.

If there's ever, like, a situation
or you feel some type of way with me,

please come talk to me.

Because, like,
I respect and I love everybody.

And if you got sh*t to say
that can help me be better,

I appreciate that.

I don't wanna hear sh*t third-party, like…

Amen to that.

I will pull up on you real quick.

-Come on.
-Yes.

Trey's come a long way from the Bahamas.

He's coming for blood right now,
for everything.

He's like, "I'll come out here
and write smashes,

and I'm gonna check people."
And I love it. I love that for him.

Any more Kumbaya anybody wants to get out?

We did Baya and all the kum.

Let me show y'all how the beat go

Come on, get down

If you don't know, let me teach you

This is so cute.

-It's so cute. So nice.
-I know. I know. It's just so nice.

Let's check this out.

Jewelry.

-Wow. Oh, shiny things.
-Oh, I want everything.

Here we go.

How much is something like this?

-Fourteen.
-Fourteen what?

K.

-K? Pesos?
-Uh, dollars.

Oh, dollars, okay.

I think yesterday was
a bit daunting for some people.

We been working really hard,

and I think that, you know,
it was kind of tough for us.

-So it's good we're taking a break today.
-Yes.

Going downtown, do some shopping,
your favorite thing.

Absolutely my favorite thing to do.
You know how I spend money like water.

-You do.
-We need a little retail therapy.

-Sevyn, you like this?
-Let me see.

-No, that one is hard.
-Hard.

Yeah, that's hard. I love that.

I think it has your name on it.

I want to get a Jesus piece

because I don't have, like,
just a classic Jesus piece.

Something like that. Yeah.

Ah, I got the lapis lazuli superpower
right here.

Ah.

I'm ready for the magic. Thank you.

Are we getting food while we're out?
'Cause I'm hungry.

This is so pretty.

Is that a house or… What is that?

That can not be a house. That's a house?

I think you need to buy that house for me.

-Will you buy it for me?
-Maybe I will. Maybe I will.

What do I need to do?

-Well, the first thing is to be sweet.
-I am sweet.

-You are, but I need you to be sweeter.
-What can I do?

You want a house like this?
This is maximum sweet.

-What a vibe. What a f*cking vibe.
-I'm obsessed.

-I don't know where we going.
-Wherever the food is.

-How about that bar?
-Okay.

-Oh, this is nice.
-Yeah, this is sick.

-I'm so hungry.
-I'm starving.

Litera, litera
starving.

Should we do a quick cheers
to be out of the house?

Yes.

Glad that we get some time
to shop and hang out.

-Cheers, guys.
-Cheers.

-Happy to be here with y'all.
-Yes, same, same, same.

I'm kind of tired.
It's so much pressure to write so quickly.

And I think
the session yesterday with Sevyn…

I'm like… I love Sevyn.
I think she's amazing.

But it's hard for us to, I think,
find a great connection.

What was going on in that session

when you felt like,
"Okay, I need a break"?

It started with us, uh…

Well, we struggled with trying to find
just a foundation for the music.

Which direction to go
and what we wanted that to feel like.

And I'm learning Stephen is a,
"What do you guys think" type of…

-…building the production, right?
-Yes, yes, yes.

He was waiting for us kind of
to, like, lead the charge.

Yes, yes.

Like, we're not like, collaborating.

Like, this is just you writing.

-Right.
-So why am I even in the room?

And I'm just frustrated and kind of bored,
if I'm being real.

Yeah. No, I know that feeling.

Obviously, the song turned out cool,
but I don't think it was a hit like that.

-No.
-Do you?

For sure not. No. Definitely not.

That's what's shitty 'cause we write hits.

Yes, we do.

Like, I met you writing "Butter."

So, like, that's the thing
that pisses me off about this whole sh*t

because I'm, like, coming out of a session
not feeling that euphoria.

Especially when you don't feel like
you got to express your ideas.

It's really, like, disheartening for me.

I'm not necessarily being
the alpha in the room.

I'm giving her the space
to do what she does,

but I'm not, like, not expressing myself.

She's a people-pleaser.

Yes, yes.

And she wants to be of assistance so much

that I don't think
she gives herself time enough

to… to sort through her own thoughts.

-Yeah.
-Right?

So it's always, "What do you think
about this?" "What about that?"

And it's like, "If you don't have an idea
every five minutes, that's okay."

-Period.
-'Cause I… We don't. It's impossible.

-I need more champagne.
-Why is this making you so mad?

I'm not mad. This is just crazy.

I feel like my girlfriend
is the most powerful woman I know.

My whole thing is,
why can't you go to Sevyn and be like,

"I'm not doing this. I'm rich.
I'm successful. I have hits."

"I've broken nine million f*cking artists…
Like, I'm not doing this."

Like, it's crazy to me.

I'm over this.

I hate the idea of walking out
and her thinking I'm a b*tch

just because I feel like
we weren't gelling.

This is like some insanity.

I want the f*ck out of here.

What do you mean?

Burn it all down

Burn it all down

Burn it all down

Cover your tracks

Burn it all down

Watch your back

Burn, burn, burn it all

Burn, burn, burn it all down
