Colt Seavers is a Hollywood stunt man who moonlights as a bounty hunter.

04x14 - Her Bodyguard

Post by bunniefuu »

I've been with Farrah.

I've never been with anything less than a
nine.

So fine.

I've been on fire with Sally Field.

Gone fast with a girl named Bo.

But somehow they just don't end up as
mine.

It's a death defying life I lead.

I take my chances.

I die for living in the movies and TV.

But the hardest thing I
ever do is watch my leading

ladies kiss some other guy
while I'm bandaging my knee.

I might fall from a tall building,

rent for such a star.

I've

never spent much time in school,
but I've taught ladies plenty.

It's true I hire my body out from bay.

Burned over Cheryl Teague's, blown up for
Rockin' Welch.

But when I wind up in the hay,
it's only hay, hay, hay.

I might jump an open
drawbridge, or Tarzan

from a vine, and make
Eastwood look so fine.

Your entry's ingenious, Colt, but very
dangerous.

Maybe, kid.

I'll take off here, land on the roof
directly above her bedroom suite.

Once you rappel off the roof
onto the balcony, you ought

to be able to go in through
the window and find her.

Unless, of course, you run into her head
of security, Richards.

Who's also her lover.

Or Ames, who's her personal advisor.

And her ex-lover.

Is there anyone who works for this woman
who hasn't been her lover?

Well, there was a pastry chef once,
but she let him go.

Well, Jessica Beaumont's got paranoia down
to a science.

It's not an estate you're breaking into,
it's a fortress.

You'll be up against over a million
dollars in sophisticated security,

a state-of-the-art system designed by a
defense department contractor,

and enough armed guards to start a small
w*r.

You all set?

Yeah, you take off as soon as I do.

Mary,

I'm waiting for my massage.

There's a dear.

A little harder.

I suppose you want me to stop.

Not at all.

I just hope you can talk fast.

Because if you don't give me a good reason
to keep from pulling this trigger by the

time I count to five, you're gonna be
something the servants mop up.

My name is Colt Seavers.

I'm a movie stuntman, or at least I was.

Pretty unimpressive, too.

I'm getting out of the film business into
the security business.

I want you to be my first client.

I hope you can do better than this.

Three.

It's the truth.

I figure if I can go to work
for Jessica Beaumont as her

bodyguard, it would be the
great reference and I couldn't fail.

You're failing now.

Four.

I heard somebody broke in and assaulted
you recently.

I thought you might need a new head of
security.

Besides, what better way to prove myself?

How so?

Well, here I am.

Besides, can you blame
me for wanting to risk my neck

for one of the most
beautiful women in the world?

All right, freeze.

Not until he does the other shoulder.

Who the hell is this guy?

Can't you see I'm in the middle of a job
interview?

Mr. Seavers here is applying for a
position as my personal bodyguard.

What are you talking about?

You got all the bodyguard you need right
here.

Apparently not.

In his words, here he is.

If you think I'm going to let him work for
me, forget it.

Nobody said he'd work for you.

You're fired.

Amos will write you a check.

After all I've done.

Like having a fling with the upstairs
maid.

I won't tolerate disloyalty in a man.

Now get out.

Hey, he's not going to make a fool out of
me.

He already has.

Single-handedly cracked your defenses.

And gotten all the way in here.

Where he could have done anything to me.

Anything.

Please leave.

Start today.

I'll need a little time to round up my
support.

Support?

You strike me as more of a lone wolf.

Well, I work with two associates.

Look, if you're going to
entrust me to head up your

security, you have to let
me operate my own way.

So far, so good.

Colt, you got to fill me in on the rest of
this.

Now, why does becoming her bodyguard help
us catch Terry Skipp?

Well, Brian...

Carlin was arrested
for breaking into Jessica

Beaumont's hotel room
and trying to k*ll her.

Now that he's jumped
bail, Colt figures he's

going to come back
and try to finish the job.

And that's when Colt's going to grab him.

Well, what's his beef with her?

Well, his sister has known him since they
were children.

They both grew up poor, except that
Allison stayed there.

Recently, Allison took
a job being a manager

of a tenement building
that Jessica owns.

And that's where it all happened.

Where what happened?

Well, the fire...

Allison ran back into this burning
building to try to keep the fire from

spreading to a house next door that was
filled up with old people.

By the time the firemen got there,
a wall had collapsed on her legs.

She'll probably never walk again.

And the brother blames Jessica?

Well, Brian...

Claims that Jessica was a slumlord and
that the building was in fact a fire trap.

Well, apparently he harbors
a long -standing grudge

against Jessica for something
that happened years ago.

And now that he feels his sister's life
has been ruined, he's really out for blood.

Well, what about the sister?

Well, she's recuperating
at Jessica's estate, but I

think that Jessica's just
trying to avoid a lawsuit.

Well, why do you have to go to work for
her?

Why can't we just watch her?

Because the woman moves in very elite
circles.

There's no way that we could
get close enough to her to keep

an eye on her unless we can
get Colt in there as her bodyguard.

Huh.

Terry says she's a real man-eater.

Hey, well, don't worry.

He doesn't plan to stick around long
enough to get bitten.

As soon as we grab Brian, we're gone.

Okay.

Well, there you go.

Thanks a lot for filling me in.

Anytime.

How's my patient today?

Feeling a little better.

Thanks.

Jessica, I want you to know how deeply I
appreciate everything you've done for me.

Nonsense.

It's the least I can do, considering our
little secret.

Besides, I'm sure you'd do the same for me
if I were in that situation.

That's what friends are for.

You know, that money you gave me probably
saved Brian's life.

Those people would have k*lled him.

And now he wants to k*ll me.

If it's just the heat of the moment,
he won't bother you again.

You know, waking up this morning,
I was remembering being 14.

And all those crazy sleepovers we used to
have.

All that talk about boys.

I don't think we ever fell asleep before
dawn.

Oh.

Do you remember that pajama party where
those good-looking twins invaded?

Hard to believe we chased them away.

Listen, I have a c*ck party I have to
go to.

Take care.

I still don't understand why we came here
in such a roundabout way.

Well, the less predictable your movements,
the safer you'll be.

That's why places like this make me
nervous.

Tell me, are you this proficient at
everything you do?

Well, we aim to please.

So far, you're right on target.

In fact, you remind me a little of Ashley.

That's your late husband?

The same quiet but intense physicality.

Remind me to tell you about some of the
other duties I expect of a bodyguard.

Come on, isn't keeping you alive enough?

No, but keeping me happy is.

Tomorrow, I'll have the tailors in for a
new wardrobe.

What's wrong with the clothes you have on?

I'm talking about yours.

Stick close.

What for?

The bug I'm about to squash.

I found out this morning that you just
bought another 100,000 shares of my company.

As you think you'd be flattered.

That gives you a controlling interest.

And my first order of business is to get
rid of you.

Once you said you loved me.

Now you're stabbing me in the back and
twisting the blade.

Why'd you do this, Jessica?

Why?

It certainly wasn't for the sex.

Call the board together.

Tell them they have 36 hours to buy me out
at $60 a share.

That's $20 million of pure extortion.

I think I'll treat myself to a new yacht.

Jessica, everything I have is wrapped up
in Merced Industries.

I won't have an asset to my name.

Including your house.

I just bought the paper and your mortgage.

You get what?

If I were you, I think I'd leave.

You really know how to hurt a guy.

Gold, if you're gonna be my
bodyguard, you'd better know

that I make enemies the way
most people make lunch plans.

Back!

Follow him.

I wanna see what's going on.

Okay, Tony, stop.

Quick!

Get in!

Who are you?

It's your only chance!

Get in!

Why'd you stop for me?

Because you and I are gonna become the
very best of friends.

What makes you think so?

Because apparently we share the same
obsession.

We both wanna rid ourselves of Jessica
Beaumont.

I hate her.

You didn't do too well just now,
did you?

Well, next time, I'm gonna make sure that
you succeed.

I'd

like it a little tighter in the seat.

Very good, madam.

I'm the one who has to wear them.

I'm buying.

Let's also have the silk blazer.

Single breasted, notch lapel, single vent,
purple.

I hate purple.

All my men wear purple.

It's my favorite color.

I didn't know I'd made that category.

Colt, no man has ever refused me.

You're not gonna be the first.

Colt, the workmen are finished.

They rekeyed all the locks and they changed
the frequencies on the security system.

Who authorized that?

He did.

Your head of security.

Where's Jody?

She's getting dressed.

Who's Jody?

Jody is your double until we eat.

We'll catch Brian.

Double?

Yes, if you're gonna insist on making
personal appearances and running the risk

of attacks like yesterday, you're gonna
need a double.

Well, how do I look?

Terrific.

That's Jody.

Hi.

That's my dress.

Yeah, I told her to put it on.

Hope you don't mind.

Me?

Hardly.

But I'm afraid the designer would.

You don't have the right proportions for
that dress.

We'll do things my way.

I won't use a double.

Mrs. Beaumont, you hired me to supervise
security.

And if you'd done your job properly,
you'd have shot Brian yesterday.

Look, I'm a bodyguard.

I'm not an executioner.

Now, when that boy is caught, he deserves
a trial.

Brian Carlin is a low-life scum.

He's up to his eyebrows in debts to loan
sharks.

Do you know what Allison did with the
money I gave her after the fire?

She paid off Brian's debts.

Saved his worthless neck.

That has nothing to do with the way you
ought to be protected.

You will adapt to me like everyone else,
Colt Seavers.

Not vice versa.

Looks like you're close to getting out of
there.

Maybe to you.

But not to me.

And I don't appreciate being spied upon.

Look, I'm sorry I didn't mean to.

I'm Colt Seavers, Jessica's new bodyguard.

So why aren't you guarding her?

Well, she's, uh, taking a nap.

I wanted to ask you about Brian.

Look, he had no intention of hurting
Jessica.

I know him.

He's not a k*ller.

Well, if you helped me find him,
maybe we could keep it that way.

He's still a child!

Leave him alone!

Maybe you are to get angry more often.

Want to try and take a step?

Well, that's very good.

Thank you.

Thank you very much, Mr. Seavers.

It's Colt.

Look, I hate to tell you this,
but...

Brian tried to attack Jessica again
yesterday afternoon.

Oh, my God.

It's lucky no one was hurt.

He got away.

I'd like to find him before somebody else
does.

Do you have any idea?

Any idea at all where he might be hiding?

No, I... I have no idea.

All right, if he tries
to contact you, tell

him you know someone
who will bring him in.

I guarantee you, he won't get hurt.

I see you've gotten acquainted.

How cozy.

I'm glad to see it.

I want my oldest best friend to like my
newest best friend.

Just remember, Allison.

The doctors were very specific about your
physical therapy.

You wouldn't want to strain yourself.

Jessica, why didn't you tell me about what
Brian did yesterday?

In your condition, I wouldn't want to
worry you.

Besides, Colt will handle this.

Won't you?

I'll do my best.

You see?

Come on, we're due at the club.

I wish you'd reconsider letting Jody
double you.

You're concerned?

I'm touched.

Try to do my job.

That's good.

I want you to do your job, too.

All of it.

Well, then you agree we need to work
together.

Absolutely.

Good.

I think I could get you to like this.

Well, I'm certainly glad to see you're
coming around.

Will you do me a favor?

Anything.

Take off your jacket.

Here?

Mm-hmm.

Well...

Why not?

What are you doing?

I'm taking off mine.

What next?

You know, you're a very naughty boy.

You know, Colt said these vests were
bulletproof.

Yeah.

Stops it from making
a hole in you, but it

doesn't stop it from
knocking you on your ear.

They should do wonders for your resume,
Colt.

Thwarting two m*rder attempts in two days.

Believe me, I'm not trying for the World
Book of Records.

Now, I suppose you want to lock me in this
house and never let me out again.

No.

In fact, I want you to tell everybody
you're leaving the country.

So...

you've finally seen the light.

No, not necessarily.

It's one duck that's tired of the sh**ting
gallery.

Are you still chummy with that Greek
tycoon?

George?

Part of my past.

Could you make him part of the present?

Well, that would be difficult.

At least a phone call.

Good.

I want you to put out the word that you're
leaving tomorrow on an extended vacation

to his private island in the Aegeans,
huh?

Well, I could tell my
friend Tiffany and the

whole town would
know about it instantly.

But what's the point?

Well, it'll force Brian's hand.

He'll think if he
doesn't strike now, he

won't get the opportunity
for several months.

Colt, this place is virtually impregnable.

He must know that he couldn't hit Jessica
here.

Let's check her social schedule.

I bet she'll strike the moment we leave
the estate.

Wait a minute.

Are we going to Greece or not?

No.

We're just gonna make Brian think we are.

You know, turning down
the kind of invitation I'm

giving you might be grounds
to have you committed.

Taking this job already qualified me for
that.

Why don't you get on the phone and start
gossiping?

Just spoke to Terry.

In the middle of the research,
you asked for her on Brian.

She found some fascinating stuff on Ashley
Beaumont.

Three guesses on who was almost married
before Jessica.

I only need one.

Go help Hallie watch the Queen of Sheba.

All right.

It's crazy.

It's pointless.

There's no reason in the world to sh**t
anyone, Brian.

Look, I want you to talk to someone.

Allison, forget it.

Brian, I'm not gonna let you ruin your
life like this.

If you keep on going the
way you're going, you're

gonna end up k*lling somebody
or end up dead yourself.

And for what?

Damn it, Brian, listen to me.

His name is Colt Seavers.

And all I'm asking is that you talk to
him.

Suppose he brings the police.

He won't.

He'll come alone and I promise he won't
hurt you.

I'm not promising anything.

Two o'clock at Slim's.

I gotta go.

All right, Tiffany.

Thank you.

Thank you for the information.

Allison wants me to meet Jessica's
bodyguard.

Brian, this couldn't be more perfect.

According to her friends, she's leaving
for Greece tomorrow.

And once we eliminate the bodyguard, I'll
arrange for you to get onto the estate.

And then...

you can go out for the k*ll.

Hmm?

Um, I was just about to come find you.

Oh, yeah?

Why?

Well, I've arranged a meeting for you.

With Brian.

Where?

At the Capri Lounge on 4th Street.

At two o'clock.

You've gotta tuck him out of this
vendetta.

I'll be there.

I promised him that no one would get hurt.

Well, I hope he made the same promise.

How did she do it?

Do what?

Get him away from you.

I don't know what you're talking about.

Look, we both know that Jessica won't stop
at anything to get what she wants.

How did she get Ashley?

She... she didn't do anything.

It was Ashley.

All the time we were lovers, it turned out
that he was seeing Jessica, too.

When I found out about their affair,
I broke things off.

How convenient for Jessica.

It wasn't her fault.

She's just as much a victim as I was.

She didn't know about Ashley and me.

It was he who betrayed us both.

I'll bet he denied it to the end.

Well, what would you expect him to say?

Did it ever occur to you that it could
have been Jessica that was lying to you?

No.

Isn't that what Brian wants to k*ll Jessica
for, as much as what just happened to you?

Brian always said I... I should have had
her life.

And vice versa.

Cole, Jessica's taken off.

Hello.

That car once belonged to John Barrymore.

Put a scratch on it and you'll pay for it.

Well, I hope I didn't pull you away from
anything too important.

Look, will you slow down?

You're gonna get yourself k*lled.

And then you'll be out of a job.

Is that what you're worried about?

Look, I'm your bodyguard.

I'm supposed to look out for you.

I see.

Your interest is purely professional.

I wouldn't say that.

Then what would you say?

It's not that I don't find you wildly
attractive.

It's just that you're very good at
resisting temptation.

Not as good as you are at creating it.

You talk a good game.

Too bad it ends there.

Look out!

You're on the wrong side of the line!

You're on the wrong side of the road!

You're just lucky he's okay.

Thank God.

I'll buy him a new Mercedes.

I thought you were paying me not to be
alone.

Apparently it's not to your liking.

What was going on with Allison?

We were just chatting.

Oh, is that what they call it now?

What do I have to do?

Hit you over the head?

I want you, Colt.

Damn it!

Can't you see that I love you?

I mean, believe it or not, I do have
feelings.

I'm tired of running.

When I saw you with
Allison this morning, I

realized I couldn't bear
the thought of losing you.

I just want what everyone else wants.

I want someone to love who loves me.

I want you, Colt.

What a performance.

Impudent fool!

I don't know.

Maybe I'm the first one you really haven't
fooled.

What's that supposed to mean?

That the only person you're really capable
of loving is yourself.

I suppose you really think you've got me
figured out.

Come on.

You've been pushing people
around, getting what you

want for so long, nobody
can stand to be around you.

No one talks to me like that.

Well, I just did.

If it wasn't the truth, why'd you get so
mad?

I think we had to do a little snooping
while we got the chance.

Snooping?

Yeah, well, Colt told me
last night that he's suspicious

of everything that
Jessica's doing for Allison.

Suspicious what for?

Well, he just wonders what's in it for
Jessica.

I mean, she as much
as told us that the words

trust and friendship
aren't in her vocabulary.

Well, okay, but keep your eye on the door.

I don't want to get caught going through
her things.

Yes, sir.

We belong to the light, we belong to the
thunder.

Thunder!

We belong to the sound of the words of
people falling under.

My name is Cedars.

I know who you are.

Look, I'm only going to hear you out
because I promised your sister.

Now, Allison felt she could trust me.

I hope you will, too.

My sister's been fooled before.

She still thinks Jessica's a saint.

And you think she's a devil.

She's worse.

Why, because she stole Ashley?

But that wasn't enough to quench Jessica's
jealousy.

Allison was a dancer, she tell you that?

Now she'll never get out of that
wheelchair.

Look, your sister has every chance of
walking again.

What kind of life is she
going to have if you keep

running around trying to take
justice into your own hands?

Now, what we're talking about right now is
attempted m*rder.

But unless you give it up right now,
you're looking at m*rder one.

What happened to all the money Jessica
gave Allison after that fire?

Where'd it go?

To pay your crummy gambling debts.

Maybe you're the reason Allison went to
Jessica for help after all these years.

That is not true.

Maybe you're trying to k*ll Jessica
because of her.

Or because you're feeling guilty for what
you caused.

I never asked Allison for that money.

She just wanted to help me out.

But I won't have to take you back now.

Now we get Jessica.

Where's Cole?

He should have called or something by now.

I'm sure he's alright.

What's she got there?

I don't know.

Hey, how much did Jessica pay Allison
after the fire?

Oh, $60,000.

Look at this.

It's a savings withdrawal for $60,000.

Yeah, well, there's nothing strange about
that, Howie.

Allison's rich.

She can afford to leave money lying
around.

Well, that's not what I mean.

Look at the date.

It's dated two days before the fire.

Yeah, I mean, she knew it was gonna
happen.

Ah.

I'm coming in with you.

No.

You'll stay here until I get the alarm
turned off.

Here.

What's this?

More than you deserve.

$20,000?

For what?

The last payoff.

You should be able to get settled with
that.

I don't understand.

You're not getting anything more out of
me.

I never wanted a dime for you except to
get Brian out of trouble.

Terrific.

Let him take care of you then.

Jessica, what's happened to you?

Don't play innocent with me.

I've seen you with Colt.

But you're not taking him away from me.

I had no intention of that.

In fact, Colt is the one who wants you to
leave.

He said it made him uncomfortable that you
were coming on to him.

That's a lie.

I was not coming on to him.

He would never say anything like that.

The whole thing's a lie.

Face it, my dear.

You're not so desirable anymore.

Nine years ago, you told me Ashley had an
affair with you.

I broke up with him because of that.

I gave him up to you.

Brian thought that was a lie.

I wouldn't listen to him.

But it was a lie, wasn't it?

Come in.

Mr. Sorenson's here to see you.

Thank you.

Answer me!

It was a lie, wasn't it?

I had to protect him.

I had to protect him from you.

You never were my friend.

How could I... How could I have been so
blind?

Did

the board convene?

They've agreed to the terms of the buyout.

You've got your blood money.

Terrific.

You can have your little company back.

Jessica, you've won a battle.

But you haven't won the w*r.

See him out.

I want to make a phone call.

Why not?

Get out now.

It's clear.

Did you turn the security switch off?

He'll be able to get in with no problem.

What happened to you?

One of the world's greatest sucker
punches.

I just hope it wasn't Allison that set me
up.

Well, Howie just found a withdrawal slip
for the money that Jessica gave Allison.

It was marked two days before the fire.

That means it was definitely planned.

The fire was arson.

Afraid it's a lot more than that.

Hey, those doors shouldn't be open.

They would have set off the alarm.

Come on.

Don't let me stop you.

Get out of here.

After all the trouble it took to get in?

Get out now and I'll forget the whole
thing.

I'll drop the charges for everything.

You won't be able to press charges.

You won't be able to do anything.

Hold it!

Brian, you've made a mistake.

You're too late, Mr. Bodyguard.

Look, you don't know about that fire.

You don't know what really happened.

I know my sister will never walk again
because of her.

That isn't why.

That isn't how Allison got hurt.

Brian, no!

Allison, get out of here!

Don't do it!

Oh, thank God.

She's got to pay.

She's got to pay for what she did.

Tell him, Allison.

You must have made a deal before the fire.

Now tell him what the deal was.

Brian, put the g*n down.

She's not worth ruining your life over.

She's not worth anything at all.

Tell him the truth.

We know Jessica was going to pay you
before the fire.

Tell him!

It was me.

I set the fire.

What are you saying?

Jessica was furious at the city.

They wouldn't let her
demolish that building, so she

decided to burn it down,
then collect the insurance.

It's a lie.

I wanted the money for you.

She paid me to start the fire.

You filthy liar.

I tried to stop it from spreading,
but it was me.

I started it.

No.

You despicable ingrate.

Ingrate?

Because you've lied to me for all these
years?

Because I was foolish enough to let you
talk me out of the man I loved?

Brian, we'll go to the police.

Don't you see?

It'll be the sweetest revenge of all,
putting her in jail.

You'll go too.

It'll be worth it.

It'll be worth every moment.

Brian, put the g*n down.

We can't let this happen, Colt.

We can still have it all.

One word from you and we can leave it all
behind.

I'd be good for you, Colt.

We could go away together.

Just the two of us.

We'd never be wanting to have more money
and more power than you've ever dreamed of.

It's all there for the asking.

Just tell me you'll do it.

I'm sorry, Jessica.

I'll bid her give me the police.

What a waste.

Could have been so good.

An attempted m*rder*r, an arsonist,
a torch.

That's quite a friendly bunch you got
yourself involved with.

Well, Allison only set that fire to help
her brother.

And she did try to keep it from spreading.

Thanks.

Yeah, if you ask me, I think she paid
plenty for what she did.

Well, I think the D.A.

will grant her immunity if she testifies
against Jessica.

And I don't think it'll go so easy on
Brian and Sorenson.

Well, Jessica's the one they have to throw
the book at.

Well, she's being charged with arson on
this and two previous fires.

Yeah, that was quite an offer that Jessica
made to Colt, wasn't it?

Do you realize you could have been one of
the richest men in America?

Yeah, at least for a while.

Well, no amount of money is worth putting
up with that witch.

Oh, I don't know.

For that amount of money, I think I could
put up with a lot.

Yeah, well, not Colt.

He's a man of uncompromising integrity.

Oh, come on.

No, I mean it.

You could have had anything you wanted.

Yachts and cars and houses all over the
map.

Yeah.

You could have spent your life traveling
or skiing or on safari.

Yeah.

You would have been the envy of every man
in the world.

Yeah.

You know, but I can't help but wonder.

Wonder what?

If the offer's still good.
