looks like we were right special

delivery for Papa Thank You male bird so

long Pepe okay this is a letter from

little Mikey from syracuse new york and

it reads i just love how you draw when I

grow up I want to be an artist just like

you what can I do to become an artist

hey Sonny don't you know what time it is

I see it's green after three it's time

to talk about all the things we can be

hi Jesse hi Courtney and I see Billy and

Samantha and all the rest of you welcome

to pappyland did you ever want to be up

firefighter a doctor or a police officer

how about a cowboy where I noticed like

me earn matey Calver hora fire it like

me yeah or a pirate like you Elmer hey

you can girls and boys you can be all

these things and more and today we're

going to find out how pinky is there

anything you want to be when you grow up

yeah pap I want to be a big brush that

paints beautiful pictures and the brush

lands how about you Lily I'm already

what I want to be I'm a flower and I

like being me you sure are how about you

grandpappy I'm already happy as you can

see hanging in this whoa just being me

hi bell-cow Pappy I just call to say I'd

love to hear more about being an artist

today okay bill that's great let's find

out more about being an artist let's see

hmm great the wishing wheel can help us

okay wishing will show us what it takes

to become an artist why you learn to

express yourself it takes practice it's

hard work and you need a good

imagination that's right Elmer soul

girls and boys we've learned that to

become an artist you need practice hard

work and a good imagination to express

yourself and remember each of you is an

artist already all the wonderful

drawings you send me show me that hey

you know what that sound means it's time

to visit the Hall of frames and

celebrate the at work you've created

Wow look at all this creativity I see

some of you use markers some use crayons

and others use watercolor to make their

pictures let's take a closer look

now that we know we're all artists let's

go visit woody and draw a picture about

something else we can be hi woody what's

up at how you doing man great woody okay

kids now is a good time to get a piece

of paper and something to draw with safe

happy let me ask you something did you

ever want to be a big old tree like be a

you like me of course I like you woody

okay boys and girls let's get drawing oh

okay boys and girls now is a great

opportunity to go get something to draw

with because we're going to draw a

picture of someone who does experiments

okay I'm going to begin by drawing his

eyes and that's one circle and another

circle good now let's put a dot right

there and another dot right there good

now let's draw some hair you can you can

have fun it's a cartoon so you can put

short hair long hair curly hair I'm

gonna put long long hair too very long

there we go ok good trying to be loose

when you do a car to me that way you

won't stiffen up it allows you to be

comfortable but I try to be really loose

all right let's draw the the nose on our

cartoon here already has a long hold

very good now let's draw funny mustache

one two three four five six seven

there we go got a fuzzy mustaches now

I'm going to put a smile like you and a

small curve line to show me smiling and

let's draws ear right here kind of looks

like a backward see and we go and one

small line to indicate the inside of his

ear good alright I'm going to draw a

line right here and another one yeah

good now connect them and that's the

bottom of his neck alrighty now let's

draw one of his sleeves to the shoulder

that's the shoulder and this is the

other side and a curve line like yeah

good now let's draw one of his arms and

we'll start like this bring it around

and curved line area and another curve

lines there and loop it around and stuff

good now he's holding something so let's

draw an old bull a here good and

bring it around stop go up and stop

right there good now let's draw the the

bottom here of his coat or shirt if you

can guess who this is good okay speed

buttons one two three being creative is

looking at things in a new or different

way trying to find new ways to solve

problems make new discoveries or to

experiment like the character we're

drawing now so you see being artistic

it's just one of the many ways of being

creative okay let's draw the bottom of

his pants there's one leg and another

leg right there now let's draw some

funny shoes he's wearing these funny

shoes and just draw a line right there

and we'll do the same on the other side

I'm drawn to the curve line right there

good now let's draw his other arm if you

can guess what he's holding in his hand

alright one little oval two three

don't worry if you see just four fingers

most cartoons have four fingers you

guess what he's holding alright later on

you might want to add your own ideas to

destroy I'll bet you can think of lots

of things to add to your picture fun

isn't it coming up with your own ideas

now let's continue alright let's show

the top of the table that he's working

on by drawing a long straight line stop

right there then the table would

continue behind him and we'll bring it

out like that good now let's bring

another line here the bottom of the

table and stop right there and bring

this line continue it and stop now let's

draw something else that's on the

countertop here and two lines right next

to each other kind of looks like we're

going to we're going to draw or print

the letter H like we're going to connect

it here with an oval like so and we're

going to bring the sides down slant them

down like that just like that slant the

one side and curve it slant the other

side like that and curl it around and

now we're going to connect it right here

okay here we go just like connecting the

dots bring it over and stop let's see if

you can guess what he is if you haven't

guessed already it's a scientist you can

tell by the long white coat being a

scientist is something like

being an artist they both experiment and

try different combinations of things

let's see our scientist in action

picture through your stuff did you ever

think of becoming a scientist like me I

get to ask max of questions and then I

do experiments to find the answers mmm

I'm getting closer much closer oops and

just like our scientists sometimes we

have to keep trying and practicing you

know Pappy someday I want to be a

musician then I can make things appear

out of nowhere here you mean a magician

woody a magician does tricks and a

musician makes music Yeah right man so

while you're finishing your drawing

how about you all right let's begin to

color our scientists

alrighty I'm going to start by coloring

his face

he's a funny cartoon isn't he

as a long nose and a very long mustache

there we go we're coloring in his

fingers it's alright to change your mind

about what you want to be when you grow

up it's really kind of fun to imagine

yourself doing different things you

might want to be an airplane pilot right

now but soon you could be dreaming of

becoming something else that's just as

exciting that's experimenting with

different ideas alrighty I'm going to

continue coloring in the scientist arm

and his hand here we go there's one of

his arms now I'm going to color in his

other arm like so and try and be real

loose and relaxed just like so

yeah we call

and fun with it all right now I think

I'll choose hmm here's a nice color

first coat a very soft violet color it's

called violet very soft pastel color

there we go

I'm just keeping that wrist moving their

ego and keep moving and Phil head in

there that looks really nice now let's

do the bottom of his coat there we go

yes I like trying new and different

colors like the scientist it's important

to experiment try using water college to

call your picture or you might even like

to experiment with chalk it's fun to try

new ideas ok I'm going to tell her in

the scientists pants right here there's

part of his pants are showing right here

and ain't shows Brown Oh somebody's

calling their pants hey black that's a

good idea red yes I like the idea of

using red too good choices they're your

own choices I like that

mmm that's pretty good hmm how about a

brown mustache now just indicate the

mustache by hitting some

brown lines like that there you go

and now I'm going to do is hear that be

isn't really not coloring the Harry's

drawing some more like that see that and

now I'm adding some more lines similar

to those other lines it looks pretty

good have fun with it you could make

short hair long hair cartoon you can do

almost anything with a cartoon good

already now I think I'll color in

there's a chemical inside that test tube

and I think I'll choose kind of a bright

pink color noticed i left a shine see

that highlight when i leave that white

that creates a very shiny area so that

would be called a highlight or the light

hits it and creates a nice shine right

there all right Ian let's just fill in

this other area here like that good now

I'm going to color in his shoes

halfway look at that I didn't color all

the way i just colored half of his shoes

and i'll do the same on the other side

like that now I'll take some grey and

just indicate the part of this little

countertop or he's standing next to the

counter in the and the lab and now just

indicate some color like that

there now that looks nice let me see

some of your pictures wow that's super

great work hey don't you know what

whoops time to get back to the cabin oh

my it's quarter to Orange already time

flies when you like your work it looks

like you've been busy we just learned we

can be anything we want to buy that's

that's a good idea I always wanted to be
