04x11 - Tom's Pool Party / Dancing Fairies / Orbie and the Skunk

it had been a hot day

katie found out that even with your

bathing suit and sunscreen on

it can still feel really hot orbee found

out that even a cold drink doesn't cool

you down for long when it's really hot

and chance learned that there are just

some days when it's better to sit under

a bush

in the shade and snooze

the phone rang and dad answered it when

dad covered the mouthpiece and told him

that they were invited to

a pool party at toms katie and

orbee in a blur whizzed up the stairs

and down again dressed and ready for

swimming

[Music]

as they approached tom's house katie

could barely hold on to dad's hand there

was

laughing and shouting and a whole lot of

splashing sounds coming from the

backyard

a fence went all the way around tom's

pool as dad opened the gate he told

katie and orbee

the fence was keeping them all safe it

made sure that

young children who didn't know how to

swim or who could fall

into the pool didn't get into any danger

katie thought that was very smart of

tom's dad and mom to think of such a

thing

inside the party was already in full

swing

andy and miguel were already playing in

the pool and he had on

big goggles and was looking at miguel's

toes under the water

as miguel sat at the side of the pool

kicking his feet

orbee ran over to tom right away but tom

held up his hand for orbee to stop

orbee screeched to a stop but slipped a

bit

on the wet pool side cement he didn't

fall

but he could have and tom said that

water made everything slippery so when

you played at a pool

you always had to walk

orbeez showed tom how safely he could

walk

and tom was very impressed

katie dipped her toe in the water it

felt cool and refreshing on the hot hot

day

she went to jump in but as she was about

to lift off the side of the pool

andy swam right in front of her

katie waited for him to get out of the

way

tom told katie waiting and making sure

that the water was safe to jump into

showed that she was a very responsible

swimmer

as katie jumped in miguel shouted at

andy and

everybody turned it wasn't a play shout

it was an afraid shout out

tom hurried over to see what was up and

he found it and andy had been pulling on

miguel's feet to get him into the water

and he was only playing but miguel was

afraid of the water

[Music]

everybody felt bad especially andy

and he told miguel he was sorry and

miguel sniffed that it was okay

[Music]

tom said that it was very important to

let people do what they felt good and

safe about doing in the pool

no pushing or pulling

orbee and andy felt good about playing

water tag

and shot off after tom

katie sat beside miguel and told him

that she had been afraid when she first

started swimming

miguel who was feeling really silly for

being afraid

looked at katie and right away felt a

whole lot better

katie told miguel that the shallow end

was fun and not at all deep

she climbed in and showed him she told

him

he could sit on the big cement steps and

feel very safe

miguel wasn't sure that he wanted to try

so he sat down on the first step

carefully and looked at katie

the step was barely in the water and

katie was right he felt very safe

then katie showed him how

she'd learn to swim underwater miguel

slipped down to the next step now the

water came up to his armpits

katie was very surprised to see him

there when she came up from under the

water

miguel grinned proudly

tom announced that a terrible monster

had now entered the pool

and nobody's toes were safe

there was a shriek and a giggle

everybody

really wanted the toe monster to try to

get their toes

so they all swam around the pool

there was laughing and splashing and the

monster never seemed to really get

anyone's toes

[Music]

it was during this time that katie

looked over at miguel

he was now standing on the bottom of the

pool

he was noticing how his blow-up floaties

were holding him up

as the tow monster scram by to tickle

his toe

miguel lifted them up and was shocked to

find that his floaties

held him up in the water once

miguel figured that out he was up

he was the one that managed to tickle

the toe monster and he was the one who

rode the monster all the way to the end

of the pool

all his friends clapped their hands and

i think the most surprised person there

was miguel soon it was time for the

barbecue

orbee wondered if they could just eat in

the pool

tom told him that eating and swimming

were two different things and needed to

be done separately

when lunch was ready everybody wrapped

up in towns and sat themselves around

the picnic table

orbee had been on the water so long his

little pink spots

had turned blue while they were eating

lunch

miguel who finished early headed back to

perfect his swimming

tom asked miguel to wait a few minutes

for his food to go down into his body

then he explained another

very important swimming rule never swim

alone

miguel didn't really know why he was

going to stay in the shallow end

tom told him it didn't have anything to

do with how deep the water was

if no one was there to watch you and you

got into trouble

no one would know if someone was there

they could throw

a life preserver or give you a hand or

call someone else to help

well the pool party was a great success

and all the friends swam until their

fingers wrinkled and their lips turned

purple trauma invited them all back to

swim another day and

everybody said hooray it had been the

best hot day any of them could remember

[Music]

and i hope that if you're at a pool

but you'll remember some of tom's rules

they'll help keep you safe and that's

important

because you're very

very special to me

did you know

did you know many years ago

when television was a brand new

invention the pictures were only in

black and white

like this a few years later

colored television was invented imagine

only being able to see a rainbow in

black and white

[Music]

it had been a day of great imaginings

katie learned that if you dress up like

a queen and you use your imagination

you can really feel like one

orbee discovered that even a cardboard

box can become a rocket

if you can imagine and they both found

out that when you put two imaginations

together some really interesting things

happen

katie and orbee hunted down the sidewalk

for the great

hugabuga monster it was rarely found in

these parts and it threatened to capture

the fairy princess

just then mrs herrera called to them

from her front steps

they were so deeply into their game that

katie leapt and grabbed orbee to save

him from the

hugaboo monster mrs peret told them that

she had just baked some cookies and made

some fresh lemonade and

wondered if they wanted to come to a

little tea party in her backyard

katie looked at orbee to see what he

wanted to do but orbeez was already

halfway up the steps and with a laugh

katie ran

after him they called mum to ask if they

could stay for a visit and she said yes

with a tray full of lemonade and cookies

mrs peret led them out to her backyard

the backyard was very magical

she had plants and vegetables growing

everywhere and on one side was

a huge old weeping willow tree

it was katie and orbee's favorite place

to hide or

tell secrets because the long willow

branches came

right down and touched the ground making

it feel like

a private world mrs barrett was telling

them that she was delighted to have them

over fatigue

as she was feeling a little lonely today

i have to say that made katie feel sad

and she wondered how she could feel

lonely when

all the children in the neighborhood

loved her so much

katie told her this and mrs perez smiled

it meant a lot to her orbee burbled

she was just like kitty's granny to them

because katie's real granny lives so far

away

mrs peret put her hand to her heart she

wasn't lonely anymore

kitty looked at the lush green garden

and told mrs peret

that she and orbee had been playing

magical things all morning

that made her smile she loved magic

katie beamed at her and added

that she thought that there must be a

whole lot of magic in her backyard

no other backyard in the whole

neighborhood felt like hers

mrs peret told katie that she had given

her a real compliment

and at that moment two things happen

the first thing was that the telephone

rang mrs perez asked orbee to get it for

her so that she wouldn't have to run

running wasn't easy when you're older

or be left over his chair and ran into

the kitchen to answer it

the second thing and you really had to

be listening to hear it

it was the tiniest tinkling sound katie

had ever heard

as mrs perette went into the kitchen to

take the call from her daughter

orbee popped out again and flopped back

into his comfy lawn chair

katie leaned forward and whispered to

orbee to be

very quiet and listen

orbee wondered what she could be

listening for

and at that very moment it happened

again

a teeny tiny tinkle

katie got up and tiptoed over to orbee

she whispered to him that she was pretty

sure

that that was a fairy bell and that the

fairies were getting ready to dance

at first orbee wondered why she thought

such a thing but then

the music happened again

and this time there were more musical

notes

katie whispered that she had never ever

seen a fairy dance

if they tiptoed over to where they heard

the tinkling chimes they might just spy

one orbee had never seen a fairy either

and so in the quietest flash

he was up the tinkling music was quiet

for a while

and then the two friends heard it again

orbee thought it was coming from the

flower garden

and so he tiptoed over for a peek

katie thought maybe it was near the bird

bath and so she tiptoed over

and stuck a peek no one saw a thing

they both looked at each other quietly

shook their heads

they stood as still as they could

listening

this time it seemed to be coming from

the garden walk

orbee tiptoed over to it looking

carefully for the little people

katie wondered if it wasn't coming from

the ground near the long willow branches

and this is where their search picked up

katie saw nothing but the tinkling sound

was definitely a little louder

katie quietly signaled to orbee that she

was definitely

getting closer or be snuck over

together without making the smallest

sound they slowly parted the branches

they couldn't see anything but the

tinkling sound was definitely in there

so in they crept nothing happened

for a moment and kitty felt an excited

giggle coming out

she tried not to let it out but you know

how it is with giggles

if they want to come out they just do

so she giggled and all of a sudden in a

very magical way the wind picked up the

branches of the trees and

and the tinkling sound was louder and

longer katie and orbee could tell it was

coming from above their heads

as they peeked up they expected to see a

tiny fairy

sitting on a branch playing a magical

instrument but instead

they saw a flashing silver thing

high up in the tree when the wind died

down

katy and orbee realized it was wind

chimes i i think that they were both a

little disappointed that there wasn't

a magical fairy ring dancing away in mrs

perez garden

but at the very same time they laughed

they

were so full of imagination today they

believed the fairies were here

katie gave orbee a big hug for imagining

it all with her

and she whispered a secret in his ear

she

asked him to pretend from this day on

until they were

900 years old which is really old

that they had really seen the fairies

dancing

or be agreed and as they sank back in

their lawns here then mrs peret came out

from the kitchen

they smiled at each other and told mrs

perette

her garden was even more magical than

she'd ever believed

and do you know that from that very day

on to katie and orbee

it was and you may have a special place

where all kinds of imaginary things can

happen

you never know maybe one day they really

will

[Music]

that's called the tide when it's in

it's called high tide and low tide when

it's out

but don't worry it comes back every time

you might not want to be sunbathing when

the tide comes back in
