02x05 - Going South for the Winter/Wally's Hat/Connie Hunts for Treasure

Post by bunniefuu »

Going south for the winter.

Summer was coming to an end, but the days

were warmand the brightly coloured

butterflies were still coming out to play

in the fields. Connie

loved to see the butterflies having fun,

and she went out to look for them.

Then Connie stopped. She'd seen a

firefly with beautiful patterns on its

wings. Hello

firefly, what beautiful wings!

Hello there Connie, what are you doing

today?I'm watching the butterflies. I

love watching them playing in the fields.

Ohh Well, I'm very good at flying too

watch me

You like my flying ConnieYour flying's

great and you seem very happy too. I am

happy. It's because I live in such a

beautiful place with so many flowers and

so many good friends. I think I'm going

to stay here forever and ever. I think

that's a very good idea. This is a lovely

place to live. Now I'm going to go and

fly in the woods. Would you like to come

too?I have to go home now, but I'll see

you tomorrow. Bye bye. See you tomorrow,

Connie.

The next day, Connie got up very early to

go and visit her friend, the Firefly.

As she walked along, Connie saw two happy

butterflies flying by. Hello Mr. and Mrs.

Butterfly, where are you going in such a

hurry?Winter will be coming soon and we

don't like the coals. We have to fly

south. Isn't it cold in the south as well?

No, it's nice and warm there, even in

winter. Bye bye Connie.

Connie said goodbye to her friends the

butterflies and carried on her way.

Hello Connie, how nice to see you.

Hello Mr. Firefly. Watch me Connie, I'm

going to show you the best acrobatic

trick you've ever seen. Ah

That was fantastic, you're so good at

flying. Well it's very nice of you to say

so. What a pity you have to go. We've

been having so much fun together. But

what do you mean? Why do I have to go

Connie?Because soon the weather here will

be cold, so you have to go south where

the weather's warm. I'm not scared

of a little bit of cold. I'm not going

anywhere. Connie thought that her friend

the Firefly was joking and that he'd soon

go South for the winter.

But days and the weeks went by until

finally winter came. The weather turned

cold and the first snows covered the

woods like a thick white blanket.

Connie loved to play in the fluffy white

snow, and she set out from her little

house to play in the fields.

What are you doing here?I thought

you'd gone S for the winter. I didn't

want to go and now there are no flowers

for me to feed on and I'm cold.

Oh dear, don't worry. I'll help you find

some flowers so that you can get some

food.

Connie took her friend the Firefly up

into the mountains where they found the

last Edelweiss of the summer.

You were right, Connie. It's a very

pretty flower. It's

beautiful, but

I'm cold. I don't want to

stay up here.

Connie and the Firefly came down from the

mountains, but it was cold in the valley

too.

My poor little wings are cold.

Oh, what's the matter, Firefly?

I'm feeling very cold and I'm too tired

to fly. Connie, there you

are. I've been looking everywhere for

you. Looking for me?

Why?Well, you see, our friend Nigel the

bird wants to go south for the winter and

he wants to go tonight. But he's worried

about flying in the dark and he says he

won't be able to see and he thinks he

might bump into a mountain. I've got an

idea that will help Nigel and it will

help my friend the firefly too.

And when night fell, Connie and her

friends went to find Nigel. He didn't

look very happy.

Hello Nigel. Hello you three.

Patch told me that you were planning to

fly south and that you wanted to set off

tonight. Yes, it's because

the wind is blowing south tonight, so

I'll get there much faster, but I can't

see in the dark and I might bump into a

mountain. If you had a light to show you

the way, you wouldn't bump into anything.

That's true, but where am I going to find

a light, Connie?Right here, this is

my friend the Firefly.

The Firefly climbed onto Nigel's back

and together they set out on the long

journey to the south.

Goodbye Nigel, goodbye Firefly. I hope

you have a safe journey. Hatch

and Connie were very happy to see their

friends flying off into the starry night

sky. Before she went to

sleep, Connie thought how warm the

firefly would be in the South, and she

looked forward to the spring when they'd

be able to play together again. Sweet

dreams, Connie

Wally's hat.

The sun was shining and the birds were

leaving their nests to fly high up in the

sky and look down at the beautiful

landscape far below.

But there was one bird who was walking

instead of flying, and that was Wally.

He was very happy because he was wearing

a brand new woolly hat. Hello,

Woolly. Yeah, that's a great hat you've

got there. Isn't it fantastic? It's my

favourite thing. Spike the spider made it

for me out of sheep's wool. I wish that I

had a nice woolly hat just like yours.

Well, if you like, I'll lend you this

one, Patch. You can wear it all day and

give it back to me this evening. I'll

lend you your hat. That would be

excellent. Thank you, Wally. Please take

good care of it and don't spoil it.

Look at the beautiful hat Patch is

wearing. He looks very smart, doesn't he?

You like it?Does it suit me?You look very

handsome. It looks very

good on you, Patch. I can't wait

to show you to all my friends. Well,

Patch, my tummy's rumbling, so I'm going

to go and get myself a little snack. See

you later. Bye bye, Molly. I'll see you

this evening, and thank you for lending

me your beautiful hat. Look,

it's Patch.

Hello, Patch. Wow, that's a very smart

hat you're wearing.

Oh, do you like it?My friend Wally lent

it to me for the day. It's great. We're

playing with the ball. Do you want to

play, too, Patch?Oh, yes, of course.

Kick that ball over here. There you

are.

The hat! The ball knocked it off my head.

Just then, Mother Wild Boar appeared.

Come along, children, it's time for

breakfast. Are you coming to have some

nice breakfast with us, Patch?I'd love

to, but first I have to find Wallace's

hat. Yes, that's a good idea, Patch.

Otherwise, someone else might find it. If

they don't know whose it is, they might

take it away. Ooh,

a beautiful woolly hat.

ohh That hat's too big for me. I'd be

better off without it. Nearby, a funny

little snail was creeping along. Without

realizing, he crept right inside the hat.

I wonder if I'll find any strawberries.

Hey, that's my woolly hat. What's it

doing here?Patch must have lost it.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the

woods, Connie was out for a walk. Hello,

Bird! Just then,

Connie saw some bushes that seemed to be

moving all on their own. What could it

be?Connie went to find out.

Hello?I know there's somebody in there.

Who is it?What a

surprise! It was Patch.

Patch, what were you doing in those

bushes?I've lost Wally's hat, and I was

looking for it. Don't worry, Patch, I'll

help you. Together I'm sure we can find

it.

Patch and Connie searched high and low,

but they couldn't find the hat. Oh,

there's no sign of that hat anywhere,

Patch. Oh, what am I going to

see to Wally?

No worry, Batch. I know what to do. We'll

make him an even better hat.

Connie explained to Batch that they could

make a wonderful hat out of leaves,

twigs and flowers.

And very carefully, the two friends made,

well,Something that looked like a hat

anyway.

That's it! We've finished! We've made a

fantastic hat! What about Warwick?

Will he like it?Of course!

Oh!Oh dear, I don't think we did a very

good job. It doesn't matter. We'll soon

make another one. Making hats is fun.

Connie and Patch were sure that the next

hat would be much better. They skipped

along, looking for stronger leaves and

twigs to make a new hat. One that would

last a bit longer. Look

at this, Connie. It's the rind of a

watermelon.

This would make a very strong hat. How

does it look?Well, it looks a little bit

funny, but I'm sure that Warri will like

it. Hooray! We've solved the

problem!

Hello my friends, look at the boat I

found in the river. Isn't it great?

Oh dear, we're back where we started.

Yes, what a pity. What's that you

two?You need a hat?Well I can lend you

mine. Hey look, it's Wally and

he's wearing his hat. I found it in the

middle of the woods and I thought you

might have lost it. Would you like to

borrow it again? No thanks Wally, it's

okay. We're playing with making our own

hats now. I can't play that game. I

don't know how. You'll learn very

quickly. Hooray! In that case, I'll play

too. Let's get started. We'll start off

by making a hat out of fruit. Hooray! And

when we finish, we can eat it.

That night, Connie went to sleep feeling

very happy. She had found out that when

you want to play, all you need is a

little imaginationand some good friends.

Sweet dreams, Connie.

Connie hunts for treasure.

One day, Connie's mummy said that she

would teach her a new game.

It's a very easy game to play. All you

have to do is go out into the countryside

and find the greatest treasure in the

world. Oh, goody, that sounds like

fun. I've never been on a treasure hunt

before.

And Connie set out. But Mummy and Daddy

were sure she'd find the treasure,

because they knew she was very clever.

As she was walking along, Connie looked

out for someone who could help her.

Hello, Sam. Do you know what the greatest

treasure in the world is?Of course I do,

Connie. It's a big juicy carrot.

I don't think that a carrot is the

treasure that I'm looking for.

Connie carried on looking for treasure,

sniffing the flowers on the way.

Hello, Mr. Mouse. Do you know what the

greatest treasure in the world is?Yes,

cheese! Greatest treasure in the world,

especially when it smells as good as this

one. Here, have a sniff.

Connie didn't think cheese was what she

was looking for either.

Well, if you don't want any cheese, I'll

sit myself.

Connie carried on walking until she came

to a tree where 2 little birds were

having a nap. Hello, Connie.

What are you doing today?I'm trying to

find the greatest treasure in the world.

You look like clever little birds. Do you

know what the treasure could be?Of course

we do. The greatest treasure in the world

is a good mess.

That's not the treasure I'm looking for,

but thank you for helping me anyway.

Connie decided that she wasn't going to

find the treasure in the woods. and she

went to look down by the river.

Hello there, fishes. Connie

asked the fishes if they knew what the

greatest treasure in the world was. The

greatest treasure is the water in the

river, Connie. We couldn't live without

water. Thanks so much for your help,

fishes, but I don't think that's the

treasure I'm looking for. Hello, Connie.

I was just passing by and I heard that

you were looking for a treasure. Well, I

think I know someone who can help you

find it. Oh, that's great. Thank you,

Timmy. I need some help. So who do you

think I should go and ask next?Bertha.

She's the wisest bee in the woods. I'll

go and see her now. Thank you, Timmy. See

you later.

Bertha the bee was collecting nectar from

the blossom when Connie found her.

Hello, Bertha. How are you?I'm looking

for the greatest treasure in the world.

Do you know what it is?The greatest

treasures in the world are flowers

because that's where honey comes from.

Oh, I don't think that's the treasure I

was looking for either. Connie was

sure she'd find the treasure eventually,

so she went to the lake, where lots of

her friends lived.

One of the most hard-working animals she

knew was the beaver, who was always busy

getting logs for his dam.

What brings you to these parts, Connie?

Well, Mr. Beaver, I'm looking for the

best treasure in the world and I don't

know why, but I can't seem to find it. I

know what it is. The best

treasure in the world is a big tree trunk

to jump on. Delicious.

ohh I don't think a tree trunk is the

treasure I'm looking for. Thank you, Mr.

Beaver. I'll just keep on looking.

Good luck on your search, Connie.

Connie carried on looking for the

treasure until she came to a big field of

wheat, which was the home of some

friendly birds. Well,

hello there, Connie. How very nice to see

you. Hello, birds. Do you know what the

greatest treasure in the world is?Then,

another bird said, It's wheat, because

flour is made from wheat, and bread's

made of flour, and bread is what people

eat every single day. I think you're

right. Wheat is the greatest treasure.

The birds were very happy that they'd

been able to help, Connie.

Connie was walking back home feeling very

happy, when suddenly she found she was

stuck in some bushes. She called out for

help. Hello!

Patch was walking along nearby. Help!

I'm stuck!

I'll help you, Colly. Hold on.

Patch fooled on Colly's tail, and soon

she was out of the bushes. You know,

Patch, I've just found out what the

greatest treasure in the world is. Oh,

what is it?A big cake covered in

cherries. No, a friend like you.

I'm so lucky. I'm

a treasure! I like that!

Well, my dear, did you find out what the

greatest treasure in the world is?Yes,

Mummy, I did. It took a long time, but I

found out that the greatest treasure is a

good friend.

That night, before she went to sleep,

Connie thought that she was very lucky.

She had lots and lots of treasure,

because all the animals in the forest

were her friends. She felt very

happy.
