I hope you can join us today.

We spent the morning playing games.

(Dooley laughing) (coo-coo clock chiming)

But when everyone else wanted to stop,

Max wasn't happy about it. Mm mm.

In fact, she was so unhappy,

she got a bad case of the grumpies.

What are the grumpies?

Stay with us and you'll find out.

I just hope we can find the right way to help Max.

So come on, our story's about to start.

♪ Here comes Dooley, from a planet far away ♪

♪ His home was way up in the sky where Dooley used to play ♪

♪ He's come from far beyond the stars ♪

♪ To make some brand new friends ♪

♪ So now it's time to learn and play with Dooley and Pals. ♪

♪ Dooley, Dooley, Dooley and Pals, yay Dooley. ♪

♪ He made a friend out of you and me ♪

♪ Dooley and Pals. ♪

♪ Yay! ♪

(hands clapping) (children singing)

♪ My buddy is an alien he plays with us all day ♪

♪ And if you ask him who he is, this is what he'll say ♪

- I win! Come on Chris, your turn.

- Stand back, here comes a champ.

(hands clapping) (children singing)

♪ I truly Dooley like you, I truly Dooley do ♪

- Yes!

- Nice going, buddy. That was cool.

Hey, you want to go see if Michael's home?

- Sure, let's go.

- I brought that book I was telling you about.

You want to look at it now?

- No, I want to play slide again.

I was just getting warmed up.

- Later Max, Chris and I are going to Michael's house.

- Aw come on Nick, one more game.

- Sorry Max we're out of here.

- See ya.

- No, stop. Just wait a minute

- Uh, Max?

- What's rolling pong? I mean, what's going on?

- Nobody's going anywhere until

I play another game of slide.

- What? - Whoa.

- Max! (Marty laughing)

- We blend his, I mean we have this on our planet, too.

- That's right. On our planet Max has what we call

a bad case of the grumpies.

(ominous music) (Marty gasping)

- Grumpies? (ominous chime)

- Oooh!

- Yes, shh, the grumpies. (ominous chime)

- And the grumpies can spread.

- We can catch the grumpies, kinda like a cold?

- Mm, not exactly, but on our planet, the grumpies

are a feeling, not a disease

but feelings can spread from one person to another.

- That's right, and the grumpies can squeak,

I mean sneak up on you.

(gloomy music)

♪ Sometimes when I'm hungry and I need a snack ♪

♪ Or when I wake up too soon from my nap ♪

♪ And sometimes for no reason I just feel bad ♪

♪ And nothing you can do will make me glad ♪

♪ I got the grumpies, the grumpies ♪

♪ Please don't ask me to smile ♪

♪ I got the grumpies, the grumpies ♪

♪ Maybe I'll feel better in a little while ♪

♪ Some days I just want to have my way ♪

♪ And Mom says 'no' instead of 'okay' ♪

♪ Well I know I shouldn't but I get a little blue ♪

♪ Cause when you've got the grumpies what can you do ♪

- Nothing, is something wrong, Zoom?

- I'm in a baaaad mood.

- Oh no. What did I do?

- Nothing. You didn't do anything.

- Oh, I know. It's because I forgot to tell you how

fluffy your fur looked this morning.

- Really, Cosmo. I'm just in a baaaad mood.

I wish I weren't, but it's nothing you did.

- Oh, it's my fault. I just know it.

- Cosmo. Cosmo! - It must be my fault.

- I give up! - I just know it, Zoom, Zoom?

- Oh, you see? It is my fault!

Oh, now you don't even want to be with me.

(whooshing) (beeping)

(crashing) (bopping)

- Today's Bible Fun Facts are about grumpies.

The Bible tells us when a friend is sad,

we can cheer them up by talking about happy things.

Thinking of happy things will get rid of the grumpies, too.

When you think happy thoughts,

God brings more happiness your way.

(pen wooshing)

- Howdy do, kids! Dooley!

(kids in unison) - Hey, Mrs. Z!

- I was going to ask if you were

ready for your letter of the day but

you all look a little sad.

- Oh, they are. Max has a case of the grumpies.

(ominous chime)

We're trying to cheer her up.

- Oh, the grumpies. (ominous chime)

Well, our letter of the day is 'G',

'G' for the grumpies. (ominous chime)

- And 'G' is also for good, which is how we'd rather feel.

- I'm glad to hear that.

You know, I've really seen some bad cases of the grumpies

(ominous chime)

but there's one thing I know.

- What's that, Mrs. Z?

- You have to look deep inside the person to see

why they feel the way that they do.

You know, we need to communicate.

If Max has a case of the grumpies,

(ominous chime)

you can start by listening and talking

to understand the way Max feels.

(uplifting music)

- Oh, cosmic comets!

- Well Max still has the grumpies.

- That's for sure. And I'm tired of trying to cheer her up.

I want to go over Michael's now.

- But we need your help with Max.

- I'm tired of helping, let's go, Nick.

- Oh, no. It's happening, it's spreading.

- What are you talking about, Kayla?

- You're mad, you're acting grumpy

and spoiling everyone's fun.

Now I'm getting tired of this, too.

Oh, no, I've got, I've got the grumpies.

(ominous chime)

- This sounds serious, Marty.

- Indeed, it does. This calls for drastic action.

I suggest a giggle scan.

- I just know there are giggles hidden in them somewhere.

- And it's up to us to find it.

Let me just turn it on. (buzzing)

(scanner clucking) Hmm.

Nope, nothing here.

- Hm. Check their (indistinct)

- Ah ha!

(scan clucking) Mm hm.

Nope, negative.

- Hmm, their woogles?

- Good thinkin'

(scan clucking) Mm hm.

Not a giggle to be found, not even in their woogles.

- Well, maybe their foozinisses.

(scanner clucking) Uh huh.

Uh huh. (children giggling)

Well, mighty meteors, stand back, Marty.

(children giggling)

Leapin' light years, it worked.

I just knew there were giggles hidden in them somewhere.

- That was funny, Dooley, but I'm still in a bad mood.

- Me too.

- Me three.

- You know, everyone gets the grumpies sometimes.

(ominous chime)

But it's always good to think about what is making you upset

let's try to figure it out.

- Have you ever gotten the grumpies?

Try to think about what made you feel that way then maybe

we can help Max understand why she has the grumpies

and why everyone else is catching them, too.

- Zoom? Zoom? Where are you?

- I'm right here.

- Oh, are you right here in a good mood

or are you right here in a bad mood?

- I am right here in a baaad mood.

- Well, maybe this will help.

(clearing throat)

Why did the alien throw the alarm clock out the window?

- The alien wanted to see time fly, Cosmo.

- Because the alien wanted to see-

hey, you already know the answer.

So, do you feel better now, Zoom?

- No, I'm still in a baaaad mood.

- Oh, poor Zoom. Is there something I can do to help?

- Maybe you could just let me be alone for a while.

- Oh, alone?

- Alone.

- Oh, all right. Being alone can be good.

Hm. Well, here I am all alone.

(Cosmo growing)

Now I feel a baaad mood coming on.

(wooshing) (beeping)

(crashing) (bopping)

- Here's some Bible Fun Facts to think about

when you feel grumpy.

The Bible tells us being good makes us happy

and being happy is good for you.

When you're cheerful, you can feel God's love.

(knocking)

- It seems to be bedding purse, I mean getting worse.

- Huh? If we don't get to the bottom of this,

they'll never lose the grumpies.

(ominous chime)

- What can we do?

- Well, we tried the giggle scanner.

- We need to try talking about it.

When we know why we're feeling grumpy and we talk about it

it helps the grumpy feelings go away.

Maybe if we go back to the beginning

we can figure out why everyone is so grumpy.

- Except me.

- Except Nick.

- Give it time.

- You'll get your turn.

- Can you tell me what happened, Nick?

- It all started with Max.

- What gave you the grumpies, Max?

- I think I got the grumpies

when no one wanted to play with me anymore.

- Huh? What?

- When?

- When Chris wanted to slide,

no one wanted to play with me again.

I felt like, like, no one wanted to play with me anymore.

- But we were done with that game.

- Yeah. We were just ready to do something else.

That doesn't mean we don't like you anymore.

- And I played slide with you three times today.

That's why I asked if you wanted to see my new book instead.

- So you still wanted to play with me?

- Sure. - Yeah.

- Why did you get the grumpies Chris?

- Well, I really wanted to help Max

but I couldn't do anything to make her feel better.

So I guess I just got grumpy.

- And I saw everybody else getting all grumpy,

- Except me!

- Except Nick, and it made me grumpy too.

- Well, I think it's time for another giggle scan!

(scanner clucking) (giggling)

Not bad! (giggling)

Better. (giggling)

Off the charts. (giggling)

Outstanding. (giggling)

That's the best one yet! (giggling)

- I think we nixed the wobblin, I mean

fixed the problem!

- Woo hoo! It looks like the grumpies are over.

- I think you kids found the cure

just by figuring out out what was making you grumpy

and talking it out.

- I felt better as soon as we talked about

how we were feeling.

- That's right. You all talked about your feelings.

- What?

- At least we're doing it together!

(Zoom laughing)

- Buddy! - Pal!

I feel better now.

- Me, too!

(both sighing)

(Wooshing) (Beeping)

- Daily Dooley Log entry.

Hi, everybody. It's me, Dooley

Ever since my ship landed here on earth,

I've learned much about your planet.

Today I learned people here can catch the grumpies

just like on my home planet.

♪ I got the grumpies, the grumpies ♪

♪ Maybe I'll feel better in a little while ♪

- [Dooley] Mrs. Z brought the letter 'G' for feeling good

and sang about how to listen and talk.

- [Dooley] When everyone understood why they were grumpy

we all got the giggles and that was a lot more fun.

We also learned how to express ourselves.
