It's like a trip to the park or the woods

only bigger and wetter and farther away. (laughs)

- We can't wait to see a tour of the rainforest

on your Dooley Vision screen.

- I can't wait to see what it's like in a rainforest.

- Leapin' light years, let's do it.

- It's almost teddy.

(laughs) I mean, it's almost ready.

(screen whirling)

- You'll really like the rainforest, Dooley.

- It's like visiting the woods or going to the park.

- Except the trees are way bigger

and there's all kinds of new and strange animals to see.

- And it's wet.

It rains a lot, but it's really far away.

- I can't wait.

M.A.R.T.I.E., what's taking so long?

- I don't know.

(hammer pounds)

- Oh, I got it!

It's okay!

- [Kids] Uh-oh!

- That doesn't look good.

M.A.R.T.I.E., what's wrong?

- Well, I think the frame-o-zots

is on the blinkin' jammer.

But I can fix it,

it's just gonna take tall bay,

I mean, all day.

Sorry, Dooley.

Sorry, kids.

- All day?

Colliding comets.

That means no rainforest.

I was so looking forward to seeing it with my friends.

- It's okay, Dooley.

We can see the rainforest another day.

- Oh, I know

but galloping galaxies,

if only there was some way

that we could still visit the rainforest today.

- Well, there is one way.

- Really truly-duly-oh?

How?

- We could use our imaginations.

- Yeah, that's right.

We could pretend to go to the rainforest.

- We're all dressed to go there.

- We look in books for pictures of the rainforest--

- and we can use music and sounds from the rainforest

to help us pretend.

- We can ask someone who's been there

to tell us what it was like.

- What a great idea!

in my mighty rocket.

- But this isn't your rocket,

it's Dooley's spaceship.

I'm playing a pretend game.

- A pretend game?

- Yeah, make-believe.

I'm using my imagination.

Right now I'm pretending that I'm flying through space

in my mighty rocket.

(whirling)

- (whispers) I don't see any rocket ship.

- (whispers) That's because

you're not using your imagination.

- Well, all I can say is hide and seek!

- Well, you can imagine that I am looking for you.

- That's right!

What are you kids doing today?

It looks like you're all dressed up

for a trip to the rainforest.

- That's exactly right, Mrs. Z!

Only, it's a pretend trip.

- Oh, make believe.

Make believe can be a lot of fun.

As long as you know, when it's time to stop.

I made a real trip to the rainforest once.

- Really?

- Really, truly-duly!

The birds are giant and colorful.

What birds?

- I don't see any birds either.

- That's 'cause they're only pretend birds.

- Just close your eyes

and see if you can see them in your imagination.

(bird squawks)

- We're doing such a god job of pretending,

I can almost hear the bird.

- Wow, Dooley.

We are good.

I can hear it too.

- Me too.

Wait a minute, it's coming from the driveway.

- That's not what I was pretending.

- Hey, guys.

How's it going today?

- Oh, just fine, Dr. Arvid.

We're going on a pretend trip to the rainforest today.

- All right.

Well, hey, that sounds like fun.

And it's funny you should mention a rainforest

'cause I happen to have an interesting bird here.

It's a c*ck and it's just the kind of bird

that you might find in the rainforest.

- Ooh, shimmering stars.

It's beautiful.

- Wow, it must be cool to be a veterinarian

and see all these animals, Dr. Arvid.

- Oh it is Nick.

And you know,

that's exactly how I met this little guy

who now lives at the zoo.

- How do you take care of a bird like this?

- [Dr. Arvid] Well he eats nuts, fruits, seeds,

and he needs fresh water everyday.

Water is important for all animals.

- Could I feed him one of my snacks, Dr. Arvid?

- Well you don't want to share your snacks with animals.

Animals have special diets

and people food can make them sick.

But I have a bird snack right here for him.

- [Dooley] Yum, yum. (laughs)

- All right.

Well look, we better get going, guys.

I have to get this little bird back to the zoo

and you kids have a pretend trip to finish.

- Thanks, Dr. Arvid.

We loved meeting your feathered friend.

- See you soon.

- We have to get back to the rainforest.

- Yeah, before it rains. (laughs)

Today, we went on a make-believe tour of the rainforest.

Why don't we pretend again

I mean a rainforest.

- Well, how do we get there?

- Galloping galaxies, it's easy.

Just cover your eyes and make a picture in your mind

of a big, deep forest.

- Let's see.

I imagine that there are a lot of tall trees

in the rainforest.

They almost block the sky.

And big, beautiful flowers.

- Try to imagine what the rainforest smells like.

- Wait, I imagine I could smell the flowers.

- And what do you think you'd hear?

- Big birds squawking

in the trees. (bird squawks)

Maybe buzzing bugs wings.

Croaking frogs.

(kids imitate animal calls)

- Like that?

- Yes, just like that.

- And what kind of animals do you think you'd see?

- Are there monkeys?

Elephants?

I just don't know.

- We could act them out and then you can try

and guess what we are--

- using our imaginations.

Today, I learned all about imagination

and how we can use it to play pretend and games.

The Dooley Vision broke and we used our imagination

to pretend to go to the rainforest anyway.

Mrs. Z told us all about her trip to the rainforest.

We learned that the rainforest is hot and wet

and has all kinds of animals.

We even helped Nick and Maxx's mom pretend

she was in the rainforest. (laughs)
