is only 16 and yet he's this year's

world master yo-yo champ To find out the

secrets of his success let's turn the

show over to our own Mimi Paley Thank

you Tiffany and Sergio And hi Jason Hi

Mimi Thank you for coming today Oh it's

great being here Well how old were you

when you started working with the yo-yo

oh I was uh 13 How old were you now i'm

16 now

And how did you learn so many hard

things to do with a yo-yo oh when I

first start with the sleeper And what

that is is throwing the yo-yo down and

it stays at the bottom there

I can feel the string vibrate Yeah it's

spinning down there That feels weird And

then what trick did you learn next um

well after you do the sleeper that leads

into all the other tricks like rock the

baby or walk the dog

here doggy

Then that can also go into around the

world which is where the yo-yo spins and

it goes in a 360° circle

Do you practice a lot i practice about 2

hours a day before contest when I'm

getting ready to compete Can you show us

something that got you into the masters

uh sure

This is what's known as milking the cow

I guess if you use your imagination it

can look like I'm milking a cow And this

is called two-handed loop the loop

Wow you're really good And you'll see

right now they're crossing

over And then here's another trick It's

called riding the horse where you're

doing milk the cow and loop the loop

with both your hands

That's neat Can you show us some more of

your favorite tricks sure Yeah This

one's called split the

atom And this one here is called man on

the flying trapeze You can see him kind

of doing that And you can make him do

somersaults You can make him do a back

flip

It's amazing how that's when you do this

the stuff doesn't get all tangled up

Yeah that's the hard part If I tried you

wouldn't want to see it This is called

the Texas cowboy
