a riverbank

where Russell believes
he was being stalked

by a massive creature.

I mean, this thing is huge,

the thermal footage

I've got a huge red signature.

It's right across
the river from me.

she captured

a strange thermal anomaly.

with my flashlight.

But to the naked eye,

there was nothing to be seen.

I can only see
the heat signature.

I mean, the fact
that we could see Russell

on the thermal as well
as with the flashlight...

that was camouflaging?

actually have the ability

to cloak? I'm at a loss.

So, I've reached out to one
of my most trusted contacts.

His name is Ben Hanson
and he's a former

federal agent as well
as a certified thermographer.

I'm hoping
that he can decipher

the details of exactly
what we're seeing

and even offer up
some kind of explanation

as to why we would see it
on the thermal

and yet not be able to
see it with the naked eye.

that our thermal camera

wasn't recording
when we captured this image.

was able to capture it

when Mireya was looking
at it on the thermal screen.

Let's take a look at the,
uh, the first night there.

So let me pull up

What do you make
of this footage

and what do you think
of those lights

above the thermal image?

when Mireya filmed it,

it seemed like we have
these little lights,

and here we have a still
image with Russell.

So, you do see some
of those... what might look

like sparkles
at the top of the screen.

So, it is probable
that that is part of the bark

of a tree or something except
that when Mireya filmed it

on the first night,
it seemed like it was kinda

sparkling on and off,
like, scintillating.

So I'm not completely sure
that a tree or something,
that would explain it.

So, in your opinion,
those strange lights

were unique
to Mireya's footage?

Yeah, yeah.

[Bryce] I think the most
baffling thing for me

was, whatever gave off
that kind of heat

on her camera
was not there when she turned

her flashlight on.

Any time that I film something

that I can't visually see,
I'm thinking a residual heat.

if I sat in a sofa
for five minutes

and get up, you will see
a figure of my outline.

But if she'd been staring
at it for, you know,

half an hour
and it still doesn't change,

you kind of eliminate
that possibility.

Then it makes
me think something

was maybe sitting there, okay?

But there's nothing there.

I think you kind of eliminate
that you're dealing with

a known animal of sorts.

So, what is it?
I mean, that...

that's what really
has me baffled here.

Ben, let me ask you,
is it possible

that we captured something
that exists

in that unseen spectrum
of light?

Something that we wouldn't
be able to see

even by illuminating it
with a powerful flashlight?

You know, I mean,
I don't think

there's any coincidences here.

Okay. Is there the possibility

that living creatures exist
in a different spectrum

of light
that I can't visibly see?

I can tell you,
I think we have

to broaden our perspective
and take a look

into the possibility,
however unpopular it might be

in some circles,
that these creatures

might have an ability
to spontaneously disappear,

reappear, cloak,
if you wanna call it that.

It sounds kind of
woo-woo to some people.

But I have no other
explanation when you have,

uh, you know, very strong
supporting evidence

that something is there
or shows up

on a thermal camera
but is not visibly able

to be seen.

The implications
are huge that a creature

like this could give off
that type of radiant heat

on a thermal camera
but yet remain invisible.

I have to ask you, you know,
with your background

as a federal agent,
do you think

the government is interested
in this idea of invisibility?

that they're here
and then they're not

or they jump
from one place to another.

It's incredible to think
that these creatures

would have the capability
to cloak themselves.

I've read reports about that.

then this takes this theory
to a whole new level.

So, as an investigator,
this is the best scenario.

Your team has had enough
coincidences to where I think

it's an area of interest

Bigfoot creatures

do, in fact,
have the capability

then these are technologies

where are these prints?

a little ways.

After spotting footprints

near the riverbank,
investigator, Ronny LeBlanc,

has returned
with primatologist,

Dr. Mireya Mayor,
with plaster kits

to create molds of the prints.

[Ronny] It's about
a hundred yards down this way.

[Mireya] I am really
excited by the fact

that Ronny found
a set of prints,

not just one in isolation.

Having a pair gives us
so much more information.

It gives you the distance
between the stride,

it gives you a comparison
so that you can confirm

the actual size of the feet
making those prints.

[Ronny] This stopped me
in my tracks, to see this.

[Mireya] Huh.

[Ronny] So, this one
looks like

a right foot
and this looks like a left,

and I thought it was odd
that a human being

would be walking through
the water this way.

So I thought
all those different elements
kinda made it interesting.

So... just at a first glance,

this is about a little
over 15, almost 16 inches

from toe to heel
we're looking at.

Yeah, but it's also
a lot bigger

than that first one.

[Ronny] Yeah, so I'm wondering

if that's just a little bit
of sliding on the gravel,

expanding the print a bit.

I mean, measure that.

That just looks
really small to me.

Yeah. Yeah,
look at that. I mean...

-[Mireya] Hmm.
-...it could be right here.

I mean, it looks like whatever
made this print made this one.

What do you think?

[Mireya] If that footprint
was in isolation,

I could argue
that a long stride from here,

where you wouldn't capture
any print, would land

somewhere over here.

-[Ronny] Yeah.
-[Mireya] But the fact
that we have one

so closely in stride
behind it,

I think it falls
pretty largely

within the realm of human.

But depending on how you feel,
you know,

if you wanna cast it,
I say go for it.

I think it's definitely
worth it to just cast it.

I mean, I would kick myself
if we're walking away

from something
that is truly a Bigfoot print.

I'll get the plaster ready.

I'm inclined to think that

this is a human footprint,

but because we're searching
for something

that is supposedly human-like,

there's no harm
in collecting the evidence

just in case we find
something else

that would add to the puzzle
by having this piece.

[Ronny] The ground's
really wet and it's gonna take

a little bit longer to dry.

The reason we decided
to use the plaster

instead of the scanner
is because of the river.

That terrain is very pebbly
and each one of those pebbles

would act as a data point
and throw the whole scan off.

By using the plaster,
we have a much better chance

of really obtaining
the true shape

and size of that footprint.

[Ronny] While this is setting,

let's head down
in this direction,

because whatever came
and made these prints,

we might have some luck
and find something down here,

so I'd love to go
check it out.

in this lower level
where the creek bed is.

We're getting a lot
of activity around here,

so we know we're
kind of in a hotbed

with the activity
that we're getting.

We feel that this
could be an area

where Bigfoot would feed,

but it doesn't necessarily
mean that this is

where it would live.

My philosophy is,
is that Bigfoot would live

in an area
at much higher altitude,
so that's where I'm headed.

There's a bit of a game trail
through here.

You can kind of see how it's
not really heavily travelled,

but it allows me
at least a path

without having to make
too much noise

and announce myself.

I can tell
there's been a lot of deer

coming through here.

Well, that's a freaking
wasp nest.

that there's a point
where you have to be

smart enough to turn back,

If we can find a flat spot
to just kind of settle in,

I'd like to glass
this tonight with thermals

and just kind of see
if anything up here is moving.

Even though that wasn't
a Bigfoot and it was a bear,

that's a pretty good
sign still.

I believe that Bigfoot
and bear would be omnivorous.

They're gonna share
that same diet.

An area that will sustain
a bear would also sustain

a Bigfoot.

Bigfoot print has set.

at where this footstep is,

whose encounter took place
within the target zone.

So, I'm on my way to meet with
a hunter named Warren Smiley,

and he has a story he wants
to share with me about

a Bigfoot encounter he had.

One thing that really
piqued my interest

about his encounter was
it took place in an area

where Ronny and Mireya
are right now.

So, I'm hoping I can
glean some information

and pass it along to the team.

[Bryce] Good. Well, listen,

you're a hunter
and ex-military

and you know these woods
really well

and you have a story you'd be

one incident where

I'm out there deer hunting.
I set up and I try to stay

as close as I can
to the rivers,

so if they come across
or they go up the other side,

-I can see 'em and hear 'em.

And then at 4 o'clock
in the morning,

on the opposite side
of this creek bed,

all of a sudden, I hear
something just thunderous

running down
the hill in front of me.

And I hear this large animal.
It was, like,

ripping the trees down
by the river.

So, did you... did you see
this creature at all, or...

No, the creature
I couldn't see because--

the sounds of it.
-Yeah.

Now, we've heard
about these creatures

being able
to cloak themselves.

Do you think that's possibly
what happened here?

I would assume, yeah.

And then I hear he runs
after something.

There's a deer trail there
and I can hear him

-grab a deer.
-[Bryce] How were you able

to know that that was a deer?

When they're in distress,
a deer gets into that stage

where it's, like, doomed.

It just kinda, like,
gives a squeal

and then it kinda, like,
passes out.

-Mmm.
-And then

you could hear the neck break
backwards and then it came--

So you could hear the neck
of the deer snapping?

-Yes.
-Incredible.

And then the woods
just goes quiet.

That's wild.
So, you said these riverbeds

are good places to locate
these creatures. Why is that?

Uh, mostly because trees
are not supposed

to be cut
close to the waterline.

-Oh, okay. I see.
-So I find a...

an area that's clear-cut,
and along that creek bed,

they can't cut trees back
to the waterline.

[narrator] In 1974,

Washington State passed
a law halting logging

along any river.
The result has left

many small strips of trees,

on either side
of these waterways.

This forces prey animals
that try to stay hidden

among the trees
into a narrow passage,

making them easier
to spot and more vulnerable
to predators.

Clear-cuts are
the best places to go.

-Makes sense.
-Bigfoot are following
the animals.

It's wide open to the river.

Bigfoots are setting up
areas where they can track

-and follow. I guarantee
there's at least one there.
-Right.

[Bryce] You know,
one thing that I thought

was pretty interesting
was Warren said he loved to go

to places that had been
recently clear-cut and focus

his attention along
the river's edge

where there's still
a tree line,

as he thought this would
be a great choke point

for moving game to go across.

as a way to keep fish
and wildlife

flourishing in the area.

That explains
this area for sure.

I'm thinking
if you guys could find a spot

either on or near that area
where there's the clear-cut,

then it'll sort of act
as a choke point for animals

and we can assume that
Bigfoot would be,

in that area as well.

of clear-cut that is situated

stay a little bit deeper
and hidden in the forest.

Animals don't like to be in
an area where they're exposed.

It makes them vulnerable.
And we're using the fact

that there's a logging area
here with clearings

to our advantage.
That clear-cut area is close

to a tree line
that borders the river.

By selecting this spot
to put up the trail cams,

we have a much better shot
of capturing animal movement

because they're forced
to go through this corridor,

which is much narrower
because of the clearing.

[Ronny] This is a choke point.

positioned behind a tree stump

just outside the tree line,
while Mireya will be

a hundred yards away in
the center of the clear-cut,

observing with
a thermal camera.

so that way I stay hidden.

we're pretty close

This was really a good spot.

That looks much larger

In the clear-cut,
the entire ground is covered

is whatever was picked up

on that thermal camera
was big.

have to just check this out

in the morning. I can't tell
