Bobby: Hit him!
Brian: Come on!

Narrator: On this episode...

Joe: We're on! We're on!
Zack: Woo! Fish on, baby.

Narrator: Of wicked tuna...

Eric: Stop! Reverse!

Narrator: Outer banks.

Jarrett:
That's a real one, baby.

Narrator: The fleet
will try anything...

John-michael: Doing
the fish dance.

Daniel: Time for
you to pay off.

Narrator: To tip the
tuna gods in their favor.

Eric: Come on, baby!

Zack: Hell yeah.

Narrator: While one captain...

Bobby: I just don't
see anyone catching us.

We're gonna blow
right past 'em.

Pocket rocket ain't tight.

Narrator: Thinks he's
already won the game.

Bobby: Tj ain't tight.

Reed: Bobby bugging's swinging
for the [bleep] fences.

Bobby: Bam! Who's better?

Narrator: With everyone
fighting for their share
of the pot...

Adam: We're on!
Zack: My heart dropped.

Narrator: Who will get lucky?

Adam: You gotta be
kidding me right now.

Brian: Take it out of gear.
Take it out of gear.

Narrator: And
who will fall short?

Marciano: I'm gonna
[bleep] quit fishing.

Narrator: This...

Zack: Yeah!
Bobby: Butterball!
Zack: Woo!

Narrator: Is
wicked tuna outer banks.

John-michael: We need the
fish gods to be good to us.

Narrator: For the
first time this season,

reel e' bugging
is in the lead.

But with less than
$5,000 separating
the next five boats,

it's an extremely tight
race for first place.

And falcon hopes to get
a lucky break at the

bottom of the leaderboard.

[pop]

eric: Oh, damn.

John-michael:
Quit popping them.

They don't work when
they don't stay inflated.

Eric: Yeah, I know.

Yeah, I'm feeling really
good about tonight.

We just rolled up on scene.

We're just getting ready to
fire our first bait down.

You always, you know,
you got those jitters
before the game starts.

Adam: Yeah, we're
gonna try and get
us a fish tonight and

hopefully head
in before daylight:

We've been near
the top of the leaderboard
for the last several weeks,

but we've only had the
top spot once this season.

Some days you're lucky,
some days you're not.

Just waiting for my lucky day.

Eric: We're gonna get
real lucky right here.

We're one of the first boats
out in the fleet tonight.

So, yeah, we're just gonna
try to get it done before
everybody else gets out here.

Adam: Right about now
would be perfect timing.

Fire it down.

Eric: Game on, baby.
Here we go.

John-michael:
Come on, bluefin.

Adam: Marking 'em dude.

John-michael:
Oh, hell yeah.
Let's do it.

Adam: Good mark, 200.
Eric: Let's do it.
Adam: Just gotta get him.

[beeping]

[reel unspooling rapidly]

eric: There he is.
John-michael: He's on! He's on!

Better hurry.

John-michael:
I'm trying, man.

Adam: Come on.

Eric: Whoa, whoa, whoa!
A lot of head shakes.

John-michael:
You got a shark?

Eric: I don't know.
Adam: Sure it's a shark?
Eric: I don't know.

Adam: Sometimes,
it'll confuse you,
dude, in the dark.

Eric: I don't know.
Whatever it is,
it's kind of pissed.

John-michael:
Swivel! Color! Color!

Adam: What is it?
John-michael: It's a tuna.

Adam: Yeah, buddy! Yes!

The competition is so
tight right now, and we
need to catch this fish so

we can get ahead.

We're praying for a
bluefin on the deck.

Adam: Pull that
sucker in the boat.

John-michael: It
ain't a bluefin, but
it's better than a shark.

Look at that.
Pretty, son.

Adam: Got him.

John-michael:
Still a paycheck.

That's my first swordfish
and that's awesome.

I'll take one of that.

Woo!

Eric: It's gonna pay
for our fuel bill.

I have never caught a
swordfish like that before.

The hook's not even in him.

The hook is holding the
line around his bill.

Hey, if we could catch
a lucky fish like that.

One, that's a little bit of
money coming in for fuel.

And two, maybe we could
still bring that luck to
our next tuna hopefully.

That's how that
fish was hooked.

Like a slipknot
around his bill.

Eric: Pretty work, john.

Adam: Pretty work, fellas.

John-michael: It wasn't a
bluefin, but we got a fish.

Eric: Now it's time
to go catch tuna fish.

Marciano: Maybe gel was
our good luck charm.

Travis: I could grow
my hair back out again.

Joe: That might
be not a bad idea.

Marciano: Well, boys,
daylight's coming soon here.

The outer banks has been
nothing but bad luck for me.

I've come down
here over the years,

I think we
actually made money
two seasons out of five.

Do I believe in luck?

Does tuna [bleep]
in the ocean?

I'm beginning to think
going underneath bridges is
like walking under a ladder.

The day I have a
crystal ball that tells me
exactly when to be where.

I'm gonna [bleep]
quit fishing and sell that

information to
other fishermen.

Then I'll never have
to go fishing again.

Tj: Last trip, you know,
michael busted his
knee, had to sit out.

Mike: And [bleep]
just popped out.

It hurts extremely
bad right now.

Tj: You know during
the fish fight, me and
jarrett got it done.

But, you know, he's
iced his knees.

He's went to the doctor's.

He's wearing
double braces now.

I know he wants to be here.

He's part of the team.

Bubby's gonna be
down for this trip.

He's definitely
gotta rest his knee.

You know, he can barely walk.

So it's just me,
jarrett and myself.

Right now we're in
fourth place trailing
three southern boats.

We can't afford to lose him.

Tyler: Got through the bridge.
Marissa: Nice.

Marissa: That's jinxing us.
Don't say that.

Tyler: The competition
is definitely fierce.

These southern
boys came to play.

Pretty disappointed
that I'm only ahead of
the falcon right now.

That just shows you how tough
the competition is this year.

Right now we're
being humbled by
the rest of the fleet,

and it's gonna make us
work that much harder.

One fish is
everything right now.

I love this fishery.
I love fishing in it.

I love going head to head
with these southern boys.

We just gotta get out
there and hopefully we
can catch a couple fish,

get a good couple
of prices from dennis and
everything will be gravy.

Ready to rumble, merm?

Marissa: Here we go.

Bobby: It's a
matter of time, boys.

It's our turn.
Let's put 'em in.

We are at the top of
the leaderboard for the
first time this season,

and man does that feel good.

Brian: These fish are
hard to catch, man.

Bobby: And you
gotta run 'em over.

We're good?

Drew: We're all in, bob.

Bobby: You know, everyone's
got opinions about luck.

I don't believe in luck.

I was always taught you
create your own luck, period.

I'm not being arrogant.

This is what we do.
We fish hard.

We fish harder than
any boat I know.

There's a lot of weed here.

I'm gonna try and stay
on the cold side of it.

I got big marks.

Big marks!

Get 'em in.

Brian: Oh, we're
getting a bite, bro.

[beeping]

[beeping]

[reel unspooling rapidly]

brian: There he is!
Drew: Fish on!
Brian: We're on, bobby!

Bobby: We're tight!
We're tight!

Reed: Bobby bugging's swinging
for the [bleep] fences.

Banks: He's such
a dingdong though.

Adam: Bobby bugging is tight.

John-michael: Now we're
gonna go shake his hand so we'd
get some of that good luck.

Tj: Sounds like bobby
might be hooked up on
the reel e' bugging.

Gonna try and get to that
mark and see if we can't
get tight like bobby is.

Bobby: Keep it tight, bro.
Nice and steady.
Nice and steady.

Drew: You lost your gear, bob.

Bobby: I lost gears, dude.
Dude, we lost transmission.

Drew: I got you.

Bobby: We're having mechanical
failure and I have no control
over the boat right now.

This is the
worst-case scenario when
you're fighting a fish.

Dude, the boat's
spinning on us.

We're [bleep].

And we'll be [bleep] up, I
won't be able to do anything.

Drew's taking a look
at the engines now.

What brian needs to do
is keep the rod tight,

but don't bring
him to the boat too quickly

until we get a chance
to see what's going on.

Coming down.

All right, get
him in this corner.

Drew: You're back, bobby!

Bobby: I'm back?
Thank you.

Drew: You got gear.
Go ahead.

Bobby: Thank you.
Hell of a job, drew.

Take your coat off.
Pocket rocket ain't tight.

Tj ain't tight. Bam!

Who's better?

Brian: Yeah,
I'm making headway.
Don't back up.

Bobby: No, I'm
not gonna do it.

Drew: We're gonna see
leader here any second.

Bobby: Think so?

Brian: Yeah,
he's getting close.

Bobby: A lot of
head shaking, man.

Brian: I got color.

Bobby: All right, good.

Brian: Here he comes, bobby.

Right here, you're gonna
get him. Right here.

Nice, he's coming right here.
Hold, hold, hold. Get him!

Bobby: Oh, yeah!
Get out of the way.

Let him go, bro.
Let him go!
Let him go.

Get out of the way.

Just don't get
caught in this rope.

Come on, stay by the sticks.

Brian: He's about to pull
out the harpoon, bro.

Take it out of gear.
Take it out of gear.
All right.

Drew: He's on.
Bobby: All right.

Brian: Got one.
Drew: He's on.

Bobby: Another win
for the bugging.

These guys can
all rely on luck,
but we're not lucky.

We're just good.

Oh, boy!
Oh yeah!

Butterball! Butterball!

Hey, let's get a
measurement, bri.

Brian: 86.
Drew: 86!
Bobby: 86, baby!

Beautiful, beautiful.
I wasn't nasty today.
I was a nice guy today.

Bobby [over radio]:
Heading for home.

Banks: Hoping to have one
of these rods go off before
I even get done rigging.

Hopefully it's a more
productive day than yesterday.

I'll wear a string bikini
out here if we get a fish.

Steve: No, that's okay.

We'll wear what we've
been wearing, thanks.

Reed: We've definitely had
some tough luck this season.

Right now, we're the
worst performing southern
boat on the leaderboard.

Even hot tuna's ahead of us.

It would be extremely
disappointing to not
only me, but my crew,

if we ended this season
only ahead of two boats.

Steve: Come on.

Reed: Got some tunas busting
and I'm marking a couple.

We might get a bite.

Banks: Come on. Let's go.

Reed: Our baits aren't
even to them yet.

[beeping]

[reel unspooling rapidly]

steve: There it is.
We're on! We're on!

Reed: There we go.
Woo! We're on!

Banks: Told you I
saw them busting.

Reed: You did.
Steve: We're on two.

Reed: Doubleheader.

Right now we have
two fish on,

but our quota only allows
one bluefin per boat per day.

Ideally, we do not wanna
hook multiple fish at once.

It means you've got
multiple fish stretched
way out behind the boat,

chances of them crossing
each other and you get
neither of them is very high.

You probably got
to come under me.

Steve: Yeah. You wanna
do it together so I could.

Reed: Just get that line up.
Get that line up.

I hate to be mad about
something like that.

Yeah, dumping here too.

We're lucky if we
get any of 'em.

Both these fish
are burning down.

You know, the
line's going out.

They must be big.

And the further they
get away from the boat,
the more line's in the water,

the more chances you
have that they're gonna get
crossed and lose both of them.

Banks: This guy's
just not stopping.

Still got line going out.

Reed: All right.
Get on this rod
and start cranking.

Your moment to shine, steve.

These things are hard enough
when you've got one of them.

Doubleheaders are
tough to deal with.

Let's see what we get.

Banks: I mean, I got so
much freaking line out,
I mean, I gotta stop him.

Reed: Let him run.

We'll lose them both anyway.

Just wanted one bite, not two.

Banks: Now the
reel's gonna blow up.

Banks: Dude, this
guy's just not stopping.

Still got line going out.

I mean, I got so much
freaking line out, I
mean, I gotta stop him.

Reed: We'll lose
them both anyway.

He just come off?

Steve: Might be it.
Banks: Still there?

Reed: This is stupid.
Banks: Unbelievable.

Reed: I don't believe it.
It's gone, dude.

Steve's been on one fish,
banks on the other, and
now steve's fish is gone.

Pulled the hook,
so everything's riding on
banks catching this fish.

Banks: If we're lucky
enough to get this one,
feels like a good one.

Reed: Can't do that.
Banks: Give me a bump.

Had a lot of heat on him.

Look at him.
Deep color.
Big boy.

Reed: Bobby's
got that top spot.

You know, it does
kind of aggravate me.

We wanna get ahead of
those guys and take
that number one spot.

So we need this fish.

Banks: It's gonna
be this circle.

Look at him.

Reed: I'm ready, baby.
I'm ready.

Banks: The leader's on.
Reed: One more circle, baby.

One more circle.
Get a little bit.

Banks: Oh, god,
what'd you hit?

Reed: I hit him.
Banks: Huh?

Reed: I hit him.
Gaff him, steve.

Gaff him!
Come on.
Don't lose him.

Banks: Go, go, go, go, go!
Reed: Get a tail rope.

Banks: Tail rope.
Reed: Come on.
Let's switch up.

Banks: Get another
gaff and you got him.

Hey, you got him.

Reed: Thought it would.
Banks: Slow-mo-joe.

Steve: Hell yeah, boys.
Reed: That's definitely.

Banks: Big boy.
Reed: Okay. Okay.

Apparently when I threw
the harpoon, we didn't
have the dart rigged.

I basically just knocked
the fish out with one
end of the harpoon pole.

Banks: Oh, god.
What'd you hit?

Steve: Maybe that's a new
trick we'll come up with.

You just got to whack
him with something.

Make him think he's dead.

Reed: Hey, it knocked
his a*s right out.

Steve: Yeah, dude, he
thought he was darted.

It said, "oh, no!
They got me."

banks: You want me to
come in with the gaff?

Reed: No, we wanna
do it ourselves.

One, two, three.

Steve: Nice fish.
Reed: Pretty work, boys.
Steve: Nice job, guys.

Banks: You've heard
the saying, "I'd
rather be lucky than good."

today we weren't good.

We lost one fish and we
got the other one by
knocking it out with a harpoon.

It's not a pretty win, but
it's a win and we'll take it.

Reed: Whoa, 97, I knew it.

Feels good to get one,
always does.

Banks: My right arm's
bigger than my freakin' left.

Steve: Those g*ns don't jam.

Joe: Come on, bluefin.
Where are you at?

Marciano: No love.
No love for the falcon.

Joe: Come on.

This is [bleep] like great
conditions right now.

Marciano: You on there, tj?
Come in.

Tj: Yeah.

Marciano [over radio]:
These southern guys are
kicking our asses right now.

I don't know what
the [bleep] to do.

Tj: It's probably over,
but whatever.

Marciano [over radio]:
I don't know what the
answer is.

I'm not sure it's this.

I almost feel like
I'm cursed down here.

But for some reason no
matter how many times I
get my a*s handed to me,

I keep wanting to come back
and I'm not giving up yet.

All right. Well,
hopefully we can
each pick one up here

before we get out of here.

Tj [over radio]: You gotta
take the highs and lows.

You gotta be
prepared for all of it.

Dennis: Team bugging
back on the meat.

Bobby: We found
our groove, dennis.

Dennis: All right, well let's
see what this one's all about.

Bobby: Let's see what we got.

We're on a roll right now.
We found our groove.

We leave the dock,
we come back with fish.

That should happen every time.

You know, if we do
that, I just don't see
anyone catching us.

Dennis: 255 dressed, guys.
Let's see how it grades out.

Bobby: There's multiple
things that a buyer is
looking for to determine the

quality of a tuna.

They're looking for oil.

For a nice
fatty fleshy fish.

Last but not least,
they'll check the core,
make sure the core is good.

Dennis: We are seeing a
little bit of fat here.

Let's see what the
core looks like.

I'm seeing a little rainbow
here in the center of the meat,

which has me concerned.

Not your best one, but
we'll take it and we'll
find a good place to sell it.

Bobby: Bottom line, dennis?

Dennis: Ten bucks
a pound, guys.

Bobby: We'll take it.
We'll take it. Thanks, bro.

Dennis: Right on.
Bobby: Thank you, dennis.
Dennis: Yup.

Bobby: We've had some scrawny
fish, some lower-quality fish,

you know not really
ringing the register.

It's frustrating.
We're better than this, guys.

Zack: Minnie's definitely
a good luck charm.

We rub her on the reels
every time we go fishing.

She's our good luck
charm, our cheerleader
and our fourth mate.

Daniel: Time for you
to pay off, girl.

Zack: But minnie, she hasn't
always delivered on luck.

Sometimes she
takes a vacation.

Zack: We've heard
about the offshore outlaw
putting money on the reels,

so we figured
we'd try that too.

But we don't have enough
money to be throwing big
bills into the ocean.

Only thing we have on
the rasta rocket is a
little bit of change.

Shane: I'm cheap.
Only a dollar.

Zack: Come on, baby.
Give us a bite.

Shane: That would be wild.

Zack: Dammit, he's gone.
Daniel: That blows.

Zack: Come on, baby.
Give us a fish.

Reed: Oh, boy.
I like these early mornings.

We got a nice minnow for you.

Dennis: All right,
daylight's burning.

Let's get it off.

Reed: We were lucky to get
this fish, but the truth is,

we need to be putting
one on the deck of this boat

every trip out if
we're gonna catch
up to the top boats.

What's the core weight?

Dennis: 253 pounds
dressed, guys.

Reed: All right.
Pretty work, boys. Pretty work.

Dennis: Let's see
how it grades out.

Reed: All right.
Let's do it.

Our last fish got
us $22 a pound.

That's gonna be tough to beat,

but I'd really like to try it.

All right.

Dennis: This is a gorgeous
fish you guys got today.

It's heavy fat.
Nice density in the minors.

Let's see what the
core looks like, mary.

Beautiful.
Look at that core.

Reed: What's your
best shot at it?

Dennis: I'm gonna
pay you $20 a pound.

Reed: [bleep], we'll
take that and burn in it.

Five grand, that's a
great start to getting
us back on track.

Now we've gotta get back out
there and catch another one.

Pretty good paycheck.
Time to turn and burn.

We've tried all of
our superstitions to
get lucky this trip.

We even used outlaw's
trick on paying the ocean.

But the only real
good luck charm we can
count on is our minnie.

If she can't get us a bite,
there's nothing that can.

We gotta give it our all.

We ain't quitters.

When it's dark, a
lot of times you can see
the other boats' lights.

But it's foggy now too,
so we can't see nothing.

Shane: So much more
difficult at night.

Zack: It is. Look.

Dang, son.
I'm marking the
heck out of them.

We're in the meat.

We've never gotten a
night bite before, but
we're willing to take the risk.

Hoping for a
little bit of luck.

Now we wait.

Shane: Huh?
Zack: I said now we wait.

[beeping]

[reel unspooling rapidly]

there he is!
We're on! All right!

Shane: Fish on, baby!
Zack: Fish on!

How about that?
I think it's a tuna.

Give it some gas.
Give it some gas.

Zack: Right now, it's
so dark we can't tell
what we have on the line.

It's foggy, and the lights
of our boat are blinding.

The odds are stacked
against us getting the
fish right now,

but we need it bad.

Zack: It's a tuna.

Daniel: Right here.

Zack: Okay. Nice and easy.

Zack: Come on, baby.
We need you.

Zack: Oh, my god.
My heart dropped.

Right now we're in
third place and gotta
land this fish because we want

to be on the top.

We're gaining.

Zack: You keep
him tight, daniel.

Take the shot!

Please, we need this one.

Shane: I got him.

Daniel: Good job.
Good job, shane.

Get the tail rope.

Shane: Pull him up.
Pull him up.
Pull him up.

Daniel: You got him?

Shane: All right,
you got him now.

You got him now.

Zack: Woo! Woo!

Zack: Yeah! Hell yeah!

Minnie, she really
came through.

We should have
never doubted her.

Shane: Butterball.
Zack: Woo!

89, 89 all day!

Daniel: Perfect.
Zack: Perfect, boys.

Hey, did you get him?
Come here.

You got him, minnie.
You got him.
You got him.

Yeah, you did.

Tyler: Oh, sounds like
there's some fish around.

They're just staying around.

The moon's up, so it
should be good fishing.

We're not having any luck
right now, but one fish can
definitely change everything.

I mean, the season
is so close.

Setting out our first bait.

Marking some good fish as we
showed up here to the spot.

Middle of the night.

Kind of on the cold
side of the water break.

Well, it doesn't
seem to matter.

These fish are running
all over the place.

They're in the hot water.
They're in the cold water.

We just got to get
our hands on one.

Tj: Let's see if the
lucky jarrito can
get us another bite.

He's a night owl.
He loves this [bleep].

He could stay up
all night doing it.

Bubby's gonna be
down for this trip.

Losing a mate this late in the
season is definitely bad luck.

I mean, michael is
there for a reason.

He's got roles to
play on the boat and,
you know, we need him.

I know we got to be trolling.

First light if we don't
get a bite tonight.

So do a couple more of these
drifts, get a little sleep.

See if jarrito
can't make it rain.

Jarrett: There you go.
Lines are in. We're fishing.

Tyler: Let me know
when we're on.

Keep an eye on the rod.

Marissa: Huge wolf pack.
Tyler: How deep?
Marissa: Thirty. Lots of tunas.

Tyler: We'll be on.
Merm's gonna get us the bite.

[beeping]

[reel unspooling rapidly]

marissa: We're on!
Tyler: We're on!

Nice, night bite.

Got out here, weren't
fishing 20 minutes.

Got a nice big bite.

Lots of tunas.
We need this one, merm.

We got to catch with
the southern guys.

Marissa: Feels
like a big fish.

Feels really magical out here.

Tyler: It's trippy, merm.
It's trippy. Magical merm.

Tj: [bleep] eerie
on the change, man.

Jarrett: Pretty crazy looking.

As you can tell,
it looks like hell
on earth out here,

smoke on the water.

I don't know if it's a good
thing or bad thing for fish,
but it looks pretty cool.

Holy [bleep].
Beautiful mark.

Oh, watch the rods.

[beeping]

[reel unspooling rapidly]

jarrett:
We're on! We're on!
Just got hit.

This might be the one.
Come on, bluefin, baby.
Thank god, dude.

Line's screaming.

Tj: Yeah. Yeah.
Jarrett: It feels huge.

[reel unspooling rapidly]

that's a real one, baby.

Tyler: Nice fish!
Marissa: Nice fish.

Tyler: High circles!
Making a high circle!

Marissa: I just saw color.
Tyler: Oh, my god. Color!

Marissa: Get him!

Oh, you got him!

Tyler: Got him, merm.
Marissa: Whoo!

Tyler: Whoo-hoo!
Yeah, mermy. Tail rope.

Great job, sis.

Jarrett: I'm not sure if
we hooked the bottom or
we hooked a fish, but.

tj: Yeah, broken leader.
I think it was a ray, jarrett.

Crotch break.
Bell's ringing, crotch break.

Things definitely aren't
going our way right now.

We lost michael.

We just had this crotch break.

I mean, we need to get back
in a groove and right now,
it's not happening.

[sighs]

sometimes you get a turn
of bad luck and that's what
it's been for us lately.

Marissa: I think
he's a big boy.

Pretty color.
Welcome aboard.

Tyler: Welcome aboard.
Marissa: Get him measured up.

96.

Tyler: All right!
96-inches.

Marissa: Whoo, whoo!
Tyler: Pretty work, merm.

Marissa: We're headed west.

Tyler: This is a
beautiful fish.

We're so blessed
to have this one.

Well, let's get this
thing into the buyer.

Zack: 11:35, we made it.
Oh, yeah.

Bill: Just in
the nick of time.

That means fishing
tomorrow, boys.

Zack: Yeah. Let's
take a look at this thing.

Bill: Yeah.
Let's go and get her up.

Zack: I definitely
believe in luck.

Luck's a big
factor on any boat.

We just risked a lot
staying out in the dark
in our tiny boat and

successfully pulled
off our first night bite.

That feels really lucky.

What we got, bill?

Bill: 294 pounds.

Zack: Number
eight in the book.

Bill: Good sized fish, guys.

Let's see a core
on this thing.

Pretty fish.
It's got some grease in it.

Some good oil content.
Let's get this core out.

Nice color.
I like the color a lot.

Bill: $19 a pound.
Daniel: Okay.

Zack: Heck yeah, son.

Hopefully, that's enough
to push us up into the lead.

We'll be back in
the game tomorrow.

John-michael:
We need the fish
gods to be good to us.

Doing the fish dance.

Whoo!

Eric: Is there enough room
for you to do a cartwheel?

John-michael: Ugh.

Eric: You look like your
elbows are about to explode.

John-michael: I'm
seeing stars right now.

Eric: You got to do
something to stop bobby bugs.

John-michael: You
got to have faith.

Brian: You know what, dude?

We're gonna get our bite.

You know why?
Because we always do.

Bobby: Is that the
outlaw right there?

Is that that gray
boat right there?

That may be him.

I'm looking to
cut his a*s off,

let him know we're here.

I'm an extremely
competitive person.

I don't care if we're
playing checkers, catching
giant bluefin tuna.

I wanna come in first.

[honks horn]

I mean, right now,
we're in first, but it
is easy to get agitated.

I have the lead, now we
need to keep the lead.

Or even better,
extend the lead.

Still early, man.

We got marks!

Marks! Hundred foot.
You got marks at 70.

Hey, drop something
back a little.

That's good.

Drew: Got one on?
Brian: Yeah.

Drew: Fish on!

Bobby: Don't k*ll him until
we get these rods out.

Let me get this
out of the way.

Come on.

Brian: That's a large model.
Bobby: Jumbo model!

He's coming right at us.

Brian: Where's drew at?
Drew: Right here.

Brian: Drew, come crank, drew.
Drew: What's up?

Brian: I just need
a little break, bro.
Just a little break.

Drew: All right.

He might have just pulled off.
Crank, crank, crank!

He might have just pulled off.

Drew: He's still there.
He's still there.

Brian: He's still there?
Drew: He's still there.

I'd rather be tight.

Bobby: Than slack, right?
Drew: Than have him take drag.

Yup.

Bobby: Nice and easy, bro.
I'll walk you to him.

Drew: Yup.

Brian: Might be
tail wrapped, bro.

Doesn't he feel like he's
tail wrapped or something?

Drew: He's just
deadweight, yeah.

Brian: Yeah.

Bobby: When, when you said
he may have broke off.

Brian: Yeah, that's right.

Bobby: He may got
himself all tangle-ated.

Brian: Exactly.

Bobby: We tail
wrapped this fish.

It's terrible because that
leader can get chafed from
being wrapped around his tail.

Now that we're on
top of the leaderboard,

we can't afford
to lose this fish.

Brian: Oh, there he is.

I see him!

That was the biggest fish

by a long, long shot.

Drew: Yeah.
Bobby: Yeah, it's all good.

Brian: [bleep], [bleep],
that fish was big, dude!

Bobby: We are devastated.
We are absolutely devastated.

This was supposed to
be a game changer.

It was a gift.

Tough to move forward after
losing a battle like this.

Drew: I threw over
him, and then he came
right to the boat.

I should have waited another
three to five seconds.

I would've had his head

it's all right, bro.

Bobby: That hurts.

Adam: I think we're just
gonna put the sea anchor
out here a little bit then

we're gonna head on back
towards the inlet.

John-michael: Yup.

Eric: We're gonna put
this sea anchor out
because the conditions

offshore were way
too rough to fish.

We're just trying to
get lucky, you know.

We're gonna try to sea anchor
to try to get that bite.

If it is superstition,
luck, whatever it is.

If it says there's a chance,
we're gonna do it.

Adam: Boat's gonna swing
right around and it will
put the bow right into it.

As soon as it comes tight.

Adam: Already turning us.

Eric: I'm willing
to try anything it
takes to get that bite.

Hopefully, we just get
lucky and catch one
against all the odds.

Eric: Ugh.

We're just gonna have to
ask everybody that we
know that's no longer with us

for a little help.

John-michael:
I believe in luck.

I also believe in a
higher power, you know?

I don't know if you
consider it superstition,
but I do pray.

Recently, I've been thinking
about my uncle bill.

My uncle's been a big
influence in I think
all three of our lives.

He was right there raising
us like with my parents.

The one who I call my uncle
bill, adam married his
daughter, my cousin jaime.

Adam: My father-in-law
passed away ten months ago.

He was probably the
best person I ever met.

That was pretty
tough on my wife.

John-michael:
It's been tough. Um...

But I do think he's watching
over me, adam, and eric.

I know he'd be proud of us.
We miss him a lot.

You don't really know what
you really do until when
somebody's actually gone.

And it's probably
being a little selfish
asking him for help,

but we do ask for
help out there.

I mean, I know I do.

Uncle bill, if you're
up there looking down if
you could maybe throw us

a little blessing our way,
we really could use it.

Tyler: Good job, team.
Thanks for freaking playing.

Dennis: Haven't seen
you in a couple days.

Tyler: I know, man.
Got a nice fish for you.

I wanna send it up and
check it out so we can
get out of the rain.

Dennis: Let's do it.

Tyler: Super stoked to be
able to get out there and
get this one on the night bite.

You know, that's something
that we're really good at and
have an advantage over these

southern boats is it's
fishing like we do at home.

It's what we've done our
whole lives and it's always
cool when a plan works out.

How are we looking, dennis?

Dennis: 401
pounds dressed, guys.

Tyler: Perfect.

Dennis: Looks
like a nice fish.
Let's check it out.

Tyler: We just haven't
been as fortunate down here
as we've been in the past.

But I know that it just
takes a couple of good fish
and we could be back on top.

How we looking?

Dennis: Nice red color.
Hopefully the core is good.

Well, that's not too bad.

Tyler: It's a nice core.
Dennis: A nice red fish.

We'll find a good
place for it.

Tyler: Awesome.
What is a nice red fish worth?

Dennis: $20 a pound.
Tyler: Perfect.
Marissa: Wow.

Tyler: Thank you
so much, d-bone.

Dennis: Thank you, guys.

Tyler: We just got over
eight grand for this fish.

We may not have the
quantity this season,

but we've been pulling
in really good paychecks

and that's what counts.

What a lucky day today was.

Marissa:
Good work today, ty.
We needed that.

Adam: Well, it looks
like the weather has
changed for the worst.

As bad as I hate to say it,
I think we need to call it.

We could barely
fish this morning.

I think we should
just go pack it up.

Pull this sea
anchor in and go.

It is what it is.

We just weren't lucky.

Let's go get this
sea anchor in.

Get it up and get on our way.

That way there, we can
get across this bar.

Yeah, it's just getting
rougher and rougher.

This was calm this morning.

John-michael: Yeah. All right.
Let's do it.
