Meanwhile, pinwheel,

and reel e' bugging

are close competitors
in the middle of the
pack with five bluefin each.

daniel: Back at it.

Zack: It's gonna be nice
this morning and it's gonna
get worse throughout the day.

We didn't catch
a fish last week.

And if we go this week without
catching a fish too, it's
gonna be hard on our wallets.

And being at the bottom of
the fleet, that's not showing
these guys that we belong.

We got to be at the very top.

We should be on
time this morning.

Hopefully, we're gonna
get our early morning bite.

Capitalize on it and
come on back to wanchese.

There's some weather coming
in later on this afternoon.

There's only gonna be maybe
three or four hours in the

morning time that
it's gonna be fishable.

But that's been the time that
the tunas have been biting,

so we're gonna try to slip out.

We can sh**t back in before
the weather picks back up.

All we're doing is
just looking for ours.

We're putting our time in,
that's all that matters.

Adam: So hot tuna's
got the top spot.

rough weather coming in,

our advantage is that
we're gonna fish days the
northern fleet won't fish.

And that's why the
southern boats are probably
gonna win this competition.

It's very frustrating seeing a
northern boat back in the top.

We kind of doubted
tj, you know, we
thought he was gonna be

sitting back and
he's a fair-weather fisherman,

but I believe
the southern boats have

an advantage when the
weather gets nasty and we
deal with it constantly.

This is our time to shine.

stacking up against this tide.

you know, with the weather as
bad as it is, not for wussies.

I thought this fish box

We know we're in for a beating.

But if we're gonna
win this thing and try to
get back to our top spot,

we're willing to
push it to the limit.

window, means a lot.

It's a chance to prove to the
fleet that we're back in it.

If any of these guys was

to them that that was a mistake.

to have on our boat.

We don't wanna put ourselves
in any sort of danger, but
this is outer banks fishing.

You fish all day, you think
you're gonna be able to maybe
put in a couple days out here

and bang just like that, mother
nature shuts the door on you.

There's a forecast
for really strong winds
tonight and storms over the

next couple days.

This is merm's first year
fishing in the outer banks.

And there's no doubt
about it, when you've got
rough weather coming,

is she gonna be able
to handle it or not?

Did anyone talk about staying?

forecast changed?

think it was gonna be
from 25 to 30 tonight.

Bobby [over radio]:
Reel e' bugging is
staying out.

We gotta do

In those waves that bait
looks live, so we have a
good shot at getting tight.

tj's decision to stay
caught me off-guard.

It's kind of
uncharacteristic
for tj to stay out in

the rougher weather,

but I suspect it's
because they want to
hang on to that top spot.

I really think the idea
that he could be that
top boat is getting him

to do things he
normally wouldn't do.

Now's the time
they should snap.

Tyler: If I go in,
I might be costing myself
from catching a fish

that puts me in the top three.

If I stay and
it's hellacious and
merm can't handle it,

I'm gonna cost myself
my deckhand for the season.

I know what's coming.

Marissa: Ty, I wanna to stay.

If we do get those
deep marks, we'll drift

but most of the
bites I've heard of have
come from ballyhoos.

Right now we're in a great
position on top of the
leaderboard but I know that if

envelope right now,

some of these guys are
going to and they're
gonna get ahead of us.

Kahuna is super close
right now and they're
nipping at our heels.

They're only $100 behind us.

That's too close for comfort,
so I don't wanna hurt my guys
and I don't wanna hurt my boat,

but we've gotta be out.

We'll stick to the ballyhoos
and hope we get that right mark.

In order to keep our top spot
we're gonna have to start taking
more risks to give us an edge.

So we'll stay on top of the
weather forecast and face
whatever's ahead in order

to catch bluefin and keep
our place at the top.

for that thing to be right.

current moves upward.

It's not filled with water,
but it's really intense wind.

It will destroy your boat
if you get too close to it.

Adam: Steaming up.

really cranking now.

This weather out here on
the outer banks is crazy.

There are some extreme
stuff going on right now,

but we cannot go in, we
don't have a bluefin yet.

We just gotta hope
this waterspout do not
head in our direction.

Or that it goes away soon and
we can keep fish and be safe.

for three main things,

a lot of fat, a nice
pretty pink tail color,
and a clear core sample.

If you have all three
of those things in a fish,

then you're probably
gonna get a good price.

Bill: I mean, tons of fat.
It's a good color.

That's what it's all about here.

fishing the rough weather
than the northern boats.

The weather's all
relative, and I've fished
more bad weather days than

a lot of these guys have.

I've seen the rough weather.

I've been there, I've done it.

It just really got to factor
in whether it's too rough
or the fish is really worth it

because I'm not trying
to destroy my boat.

I'm trying to fish my boat
for the next 15, 20 years.

Marissa: I have heard so
many horror stories about
fishing in the outer banks.

More bad stories
than good stories.

But coming down
to the outer banks is
an expense in its own,

so we have to catch
fish to make it worth it.

wanna keep it going.

top of the leaderboard.

fog's super thick.

You can't see 200-foot
in front of you.

visibility, so we got, really
got to keep on our game.

A boat will sneak

It's not ideal being out here
in the fog, but fishing worked

the visibility gets worse.

They should actually have the
advantage down here based on the
style of boats they're fishing,

in the middle of the winter.

Pretty rough and I guess

I'm not really sure if I want to
see what that's gonna look like.
