Well, we got lucky
enough we caught the

So, we're optimistic.

do it again this year.

But because we
did good last year,

go fishing four or five
days and don't catch one,

next thing you know, it
takes a whole fish to pay
for the money you've spent.

So nothing's
guaranteed in this fishery.

There's still some boats that
haven't caught a first fish.

Right now we got a
lot of boats trolling
around here today.

Greg hasn't caught
one yet and I know Greg.

Until he catches one,
there's gonna be a
little tension building.

they're ready to eat.

happy that they're here.

that we can get out there.

get ahead by staying home
on questionable weather.

This season's quota
is 39 metric tons.

That is a very,
very small quota.

Northern boat to catch a fish
down here so far this season.

And after coming
out on top this past
season in Gloucester...

people can get lucky,
people getting cold,

I mean dry spells happen.

Some of these Southern guys
aren't too happy about us
Northern boats coming down

here and fishing on
their smaller quota.

But the Bluefin tuna fishery
is a Federal Fishery and that
means that everyone has the

right to able to go out
there and catch Bluefin tuna.

And we need them just
as much as they do.

is that outer bar.

Anytime there's any kind of
sea in that outer bar, the
waves just break especially

with the outgoing tide.

-A real disaster
would be to have the
waves breaking over you.

It would probably
scuttle the boat.

And in this 40-degree water,
hypothermia is going to set
in in a matter of minutes.

TJ: It's like you're rolling
the dice with your life every
time you go fishing here.

that we're gonna be good.

Since the season started, the
only thing we've had on the
line is a couple of Bluefin

that weren't keepers.

When I'm not getting the bite
and other boats around me are
hooking up, I get frustrated.

We were the top boat for
three years, if we want to
end up on top again this year

we've got to start catching now.

Normally, we're
one of those first few
boats to catch a fish.

This year, we're snake bit.

I feel pretty good about it
right now but we definitely

We missed the first
few days of fishing
because of boat issues.

But now that we're finally
out here, I'm stoked and I'm
feeling better than I have in

quite a while and I know
we can make up for lost time.

Had to wear
the hook this year.

My back is getting jammed up
because my body is off center
because I'm missing an arm.

I lost my arm in a boating
accident at the age of 23
due to a mechanical failure.

But it never stopped me
from doing what I love
to do, which is fishing.

This is helping
to balance me out.

It's definitely helping
a lot with my back pain.

I broke my back
falling off a roof.

So I got a bunch of
rods and bolts back there.

My roofing business
subsidized my fishing
business for a lot of years,

but the roofing business
almost k*lled me too.

As my wife would tell you,
I'm the luckiest unlucky
person in the world.

I can't stand actually wearing
it, but my back loves it.
