At the start of day 12,

only half of the bluefin quota

is left to catch.

Northern boats Pin Wheel,

Hard Merchandise and Hot Tuna
trail the local leaders.

And Southern boat Doghouse
struggles to salvage its season

with only one fish so far.

REED MEREDITH [off screen]:
Let's go catch some fish.

BANKS MEREDITH: I can't believe
we actually made it.

REED: We really need to
speed this up and get out there.

We're at the top of the fleet right now.

But those Northern boats
and the Fishin' Frenzy,

they're looking for every opportunity

to take our fish out from under us.

BANKS: Almost done.
Just gotta put these up.

We've gotta be out with lines
in the water at all times now.

The way the bite's been on,

the rest of the quota could be gone
in a matter of days.

REED: We're gonna try our luck
at the Triple Zeros today.

It's right on the 100 Fathom Edge,

where a lot of bait congregates.

Where there's bait,
tuna are usually not far behind.

BANKS [off screen]:
Okay, let's get out there.

GREG MAYER [off screen]: All right, Nick.
We gotta get out there.

NICK GOWITZKA:
I need to go fishing, you know?

GREG: Oh, yeah. We gotta catch up to Reed.

I mean, I know he's ahead of us.

So let me get this thing started.

I've got Reed in my sights right now.

I just need to go fishing,
catch two fish every day

and put the meat on the dock.

NICK: All right.

But them Northern guys, you know,

we need to keep an eye on them, you know.

Any one of them can have
a couple good days,

bam, they'll be right there
in the game with us.

You get outfished by one of them guys,

it's pretty embarrassing.

I don't plan on that happening.

GREG [off screen]: Let's get out.

BRITTON: All right, Caine.

CAINE: Just wanna drop 'em over?

CAINE: Got us an early start this morning.

Setting up before sun up.

We've only got one fish so far,

so we're gonna start fishing 24/7.

Hopefully it pays off.

We're gonna let Frenzy and Wahoo
worry about these Yankee boats.

Us on the Doghouse are gonna figure out

what we gotta do
to turn this thing around.

We gotta step it up from here on out.

All it takes is, well,
two fish for two more days.

we're gonna catch a tuna soon.

BANKS: Big bunch out here too.

BANKS: And the red boat comes flying in.

Greg's always gotta be following
everywhere we go.

GREG: We got the Wahoo off the bow.

Not what I wanted to see,

but it's also a little vote of confidence.

If he thinks there's something there,

and I think there's something there,

odds are pretty good
there's some fish around.

NICK: Damn it, stupid gannet,

you know he's gonna get us.

GREG [off screen]: Little sign
of life though, I kinda like that.

The gannets, they'll be out here
a lot of times

on some of the bigger bait,

which is good to see that around.

If there's bait around,

there's a really good chance
there's bluefin here too.

And that's exactly what we're looking for.

The problem is
you can't get your riggers out.

The gannet's are gonna dive on 'em

and you go through bait quick.

Makes it really hard to fish around 'em.

NICK: All right,
there they go, right there.

GREG: Go get ready to put the stick up.

Rather than feed the birds,
we're gonna put the stick up,

because they won't mess with the squids.

REED: Okay, let's do stick.

BANKS: Lively-looking area.

REED: That's good. Good sign.

REED [off screen]: Big bunch of tunas.

GREG: See 'em going off? Right here?

We got a really good chance
to get a bite here.

spent the night out in the water

to try and continue our streak.

We've got three fish in the last six days.

That ain't too shabby
for a couple guys from outta town.

and extend our lead over the other boats.

it would be a huge payday for us.

Now we just have to get one to bite.

Our bandit gear is always on the surface
because the bird floats.

And this fish is going up
to the surface now

towards the bandit stuff.

We're gonna need a little bit of luck
for this one. Definitely.

MARCIANO: The biggest risk
when fighting multiple fish

is getting our lines tangled.

The friction could be
enough to lose our fish.

So I need to loosen the drag,

that sends the fish
far enough behind the boat

so we can keep these lines from tangling.

We can reel our fish on the rod
and then come back to reel in

the fish that are on the main line.

It would be nice if we can both
these fish and get out of here.

All right, Jay. We're gonna get
that rod over here now.

MARCIANO: We gotta get it
in our regular fighting holder.

Back it off.

We're moving the rod
to my favorite fighting position.

Right near the steering wheel.

That way I can quickly respond
if that fish changes direction.

Okay, good.

Could be worth ten grand apiece.

Twenty thousand dollar day.

But the trick is we gotta land 'em.

We gotta keep clear of that other rig.

if we can get this other one now.

It would be the last time we do that.

Now, we're out of business.

It looks like the two fish
wound each other up

and even the 900-pound main line
couldn't save us

from that kind of tension.

Lost the whole works.

The bird and the rubber squid lures,

all our gear is at the bottom
of the ocean right now.

Bottom line, we had $400 in the hole.

We gotta haul in that fish we did get

and head for the harbor.

PAUL HEBERT [off screen]: We're just
getting to the spot right now.

They're moving a lot, these fish.

We heard the fleets been seeing fish
up here in the Triple Zeros.

So we're here to claim
our piece of the quota.

right in front of us.

GREG: A beautiful flat line bite
right there.

It was right behind the boat.

Tail's up out of the water. It is cool.

Look how fast he's taking that line there.

That's the one we're looking for!

Watch that outboard here now.

Now, we gotta stretch that
long way right off his bow there.

Tell him to turn to his portside there.

GREG: The fish is out on top

and that outboard
is between us and the fish.

If he goes across the line,
that fish is gone.

There's a lot of pressure.

and this feels great.

if we have a problem.

But right now, I'm on the clock working.

We're trying to keep up
with the Southern fleet

and I gotta catch some fish.
