Where's Snoopy?I don't know.
Lately, he thinks he's a vulture.
That's the craziest thing I've ever
heard.
If you'll pardon my saying so, your
swooping leaves much to be desired.
Maybe you should go to swoop school.
Don't bug me, bagel.
I've got to convince him. I've got
to.
Linus, there's still time for you to make
a New Year's resolution to give up that
blanket. You know, I
think you're right. I think if I'm ever
going to get rid of it, now is the time.
So I'll just throw it away and be done
with it once and for all.
Never believe anything I say.
That's stupid, Beagle. OK,
wise guy, I'm going to put it to you
straight. I've got your supper dish.
Hand over that blanket right now, or
you'll never see your supper dish again.
You know, I can't possibly tell you how
sick I get of seeing you drag around that
stupid blanket. It's not
stupid. This blanket has many very
practical uses. That's a
laugh. You just have no
imagination, that's all.
I have plenty imagination.
Doesn't take any imagination to see he's
crazy. Of all the brothers in the world,
I have to get him.
But you have to admit, he's done it
again. HuhI said
Linus has done it again. You'd better go
see for yourself.
I'm going to ask you a question and I'd
like a straight answer. Good
luck. Do you intend to
hold on to that blanket for the rest of
your life?What do you care?
Well, I've always sort of regarded you as
husband material and... Forget
it. He just
insulted me, big brother. Slug him.
Who's gonna slug who?What?
Go ahead, big brother. Slug him a good
one. All right, Charlie Brown. I've heard
enough. Come on, put him up. Put him up
and let's get this over right now. Come
on, put him up.
I never know what's going on.
Stop chewing on your pencil, Sir. It
makes me very nervous.
Why should it bother you, Marcy?
No one can be expected to concentrate
sitting behind a Beaver.
True. False. True.
TrueFalse. False. True.
False. False. True. False.
True. False. True. True
TrueTrueTrueTrue
False. True. False. And
one good old fashioned maybe.
We're going to be late for school, Sir.
I'm not going, Marcy. I can't take it
anymore. I'm getting dumber
every day and it's all just too
embarrassing. I'm the only kid in the
history of education to have a
straight Z average.
You have to go to school, Sir. You can't
just quit. Why can't I?
Yesterday, one of the teachers even
criticized my lunch.
She said I had too many doughnuts and not
enough carrots. It's time to quit
when they even criticize your lunch.
Now what are you doing?I'm not
doing anything, Marcie. I'm just going to
sit here for the rest of my life with my
old friend Snoopy. Don't do
that, sir. Come down. Come
down right now and go to
school with me. Nope.
I'm going to stay right here because old
Snoop is the only one who understands me.
Sir, please come down and let's go to
school. If we hurry, we can
still make it to second period.
I hate second period. Besides,
I've already told you, I'm going to sit
here with Snoopy for the rest of my life.
We're just going to sit here and beep
each other on the nose. Beep.
Sir, you're being very foolish.
I'm losing my patience with you, sir. We
have to go to school. Come down from
there right now and let's go to school.
Marcy, has anyone ever told you that when
you're mad,You look just like Billie Jean
King.
Marcy, what are you doing here?
I've been waiting for you to get home,
Chuck. Do
you realize I missed school today?
I've spent the whole day in your backyard
trying to get Peppermint Patty to come
down off Snoopy's house.
See?She's been sitting up there all
day. She wouldn't come down and go to
school. But what can I do?
Good answer, Chuck. Sir,
please, let's not miss any more school.
Forget it. I'm just going to
sit here with my old friend Snoopy for
the rest of my life. He's
never had any education and he's done all
right.
Sir, if you don't come down, I'm going to
drag you down. Hey,
let go. Let go, Marcie.
You're pulling the whole house down.
Marcie, you're destroying Chuck's
guest cottage. Marcie, let go.
Marcie. Somebody stop her.
She's gone insane. Marcie, let
go. Let go. Somebody stop her! She's
pulling the whole house down! Marcie, let
go! Oh, no!
Arr!
Wow. All right, Marcie,
I hope you're satisfied. You've
destroyed Chuck's guest cottage. It's
not a guest cottage, sir. It's a
dog house, and Snoopy is not a
funny-looking kid with a big nose.
He's a beagle! When are you going to
face up to reality?
A beagle?
Come on, sir, let's go home. A
beagle?
I don't know how we'll explain missing
school today, but I'll think of
something. A beagle?
We could say we had sore throats, but
that would be lying. A
Beagle. Psychological
problems. That's it. Well, tell them we
had some psychological problems.
A Beagle. Anyway, Sir, I've made
special arrangements to be sure you get
to school today. What
arrangements?I'm having you
helicoptered in. Are
you crazy, Marcy?There's no
such thing around here.
Here he comes now, Sir.
A beagle?
So here I am, about to go
riding again on the back of my
mother's bicycle to quote from the
Bible and the book of Ruth,
For a river thou goeth, I will go
like a b*llet. Sometimes Mom
pedals this bicycle like she's a
race driver. Other times,
she pedals very slow. Today we
must be going extra
slow. Ants are catching
up with us. This is my life,
riding on the back of Mom's bicycle.
Good breed! Look out for the truck!
Look out for the car! Look out for the
tree!Look out for the rock! Look out for
the renebrance! Look out for the dog!
Look out for the...
sprinkler. What
happens? She meets a friend and we
stop to talk. In the
meantime, I'm starving to
death. I don't think I
can survive on sucking the
juice from a wet mitten.
You don't want to ride back there all
alone, huhRerun gets
lonely riding on the back of Mom's
bicycle. He needs someone to ride with
him.
Hi, Snoopy. Hi, Shermy.
Glad you made it. Hi, Pigpen. Hi, Violet.
How's the world's prettiest third baseman?
Hi, Linus. Hi, Lucy. Hi, Patty. Hi,
Schroeder. How's the old throwing arm?
Well, it's real good seeing you all here
again, ready to begin the new baseball
season. Due to the rain today, we will
follow our rainy day schedule. This
means studying our signals. Now,
a good baseball team functions on the
knowledge of its signals. This year, we
will try to keep them simple. If I touch
my cap like this, it means for whoever
happens to be on base to try to steal.
If I clap my hands like this, it
means the batter is to hit straight away.
But if I put my hands on my hips like
this, then he or she is to
bunt. If I walk up and down in the
coaching box, it means for the batter to
wait out the pitcher. In other words, to
try for a walk. But now
after all is said and done. It must be
admitted that signals alone never won a
ball game. It's the spirit of the team
that counts, the interest that the
players show in their team. Am I right?
I said, am I right?
You're right.
You wanted me, manager?I
sure do. I think you need a little
practice on fly ba*ls, Lucy. So if you
get out there, I'll hit you a few. Just
trot out there and I'll hit some high
ones and we'll see how you do.
Well, go on, get out there before I hit
one and you have to chase it.
I'm warning you. I'm not going to wait.
I'll just go ahead and whack one so far
you'll have to run 50 miles. Go
ahead. Get moving. Get out there before I
swing, because I'm not waiting another
second. You better start moving. Here it
goes.
Everybody out to the mound.
All right, team, this is our first game
of the season. If we all show the right
spirit, I think we can win this one.
Let's try to encourage each other. Let's
hear a little chatter out there, okay?
You're beautiful, kid!
Brush this guy back! Hey, batter,
hey, batter, hey, batter! Come on,
Charlie Brown, strike him out!
I know you like a lot of chatter out
there, Manager, but I can't think of
anything to chatter. Well, how about
saying, Throw it by him, pitcher. Or how
about, He can't hit when he can't see.
Another good one is, Show him the high
hard one. Could you write some of those
down?Otherwise, I'll never be able to
remember them.
Thank you. This will be a big help.
OK, pitcher, throw it past him.
He can't hit what he can't see.
Pitch it hard, Charlie Brown.
Stay with him, kid. You can do
it, Charlie Brown. Show him the hard,
hard one, Charlie Brown.
Hey manager,
have you ever noticed how the people in
the stands really don't know what we're
saying? When we have these conferences on
the mound, all they have to go by is the
way we wave our arms. No
one in the stands can tell what I'm
really saying. What is it that you're
really saying?
I think you're kind of cute.
I can't stand it.
Ah Maybe
I should find out. Hey!
Hey manager! Ask your captor if he
still loves me. She wants to
know if you still love her. He says
no! Ask him why
not! She wants to know why
not. He says
there are so many reasons he can't
remember them. Really?
That's very depressing!
Do you mind if we get on with the game?
What game?The
baseball game!
Oh, that's right. I was wondering
why I was standing out here.
Hey, manager, what's this?
This is a homemade telephone. Put it
around your neck. We need better
communication between the pitcher's mail
and right field. Now, if you need
any advice on what to pitch or anything
like that, you can just call me.
I'll be right here. Call me
anytime. Maybe she has
something. All the professional teams use
telephones.
Hello. HelloHello
The number you have reached is not in
service at this time. Please make sure
you have dialed correctly.
Oh boy. The only thing that could
make it worse would be if it rained. I
hope someone caught that one. It would
end this inning. Somebody did catch that
last one. I guess I better get dressed.
I don't like the looks of those clouds.
They look kind of pretty to me.
Rat. How can we play baseball
today if it's going to rain? The
world needs rain. The world needs
baseball games, too. No, it
doesn't. It does too.
The world needs rain. The
world may need rain, but it also needs
baseball games. No, it doesn't.
It only needs rain. I admit the world
sometimes needs rain, but sometimes the
world needs baseball too. You're
wrong. The world always needs rain.
But the world definitely does not need
baseball games. Then why are you
carrying that baseball glove
in case it rains?
It's raining harder, manager. Let's call
the game. Are you crazy?This
is just a drizzle. Well, I call it rain.
I think I'll go home. You can't go home
now, Lucy. It's your turn to bat. It
is?Get up there and get a hit.
I can't take it. I'm getting soaked.
This is stupid. I'm going
home. Linus,
you're not leaving too. Of course
I'm leaving. You can't have baseball
practice in the rain. And don't tell
me it's going to clear up because it
isn't. You're losing your mind, Charlie
Brown. That's what's happening to you.
Anyone who hasn't got sense enough to
get in out of the rain is crazy.
You're a fanatic and you're losing your
mind. It's raining harder
every minute. And do you want to stand
out here and play baseball?Well,
I say you're crazy, Charlie Brown.
I say...
Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown!
You shouldn't have left. It looks like it
may clear up.
