in respect of Ashley Dale,

who was tragically shot

during the early hours

of this morning.

Horrendous.

The family are devastated,

completely distraught.

I attended the scene.

What we saw was a white VW

which is registered to Ashley.

That has got three puncture wounds

to three of the tyres.

They look like they've been

stabbed with a knife.

We then believe

the offender or offenders

have kicked the front door in,

gone inside and discharged a firearm

multiple times.

We have a witness.

She says that approximately

half past midnight,

she heard a massive bang and then

a woman screaming for help.

What we don't know

at this moment in time

the motive for the attack.

Ashley worked for

the local authority.

She's not known to the police.

There's no obvious reason

why she should be shot.

She lives with a male by the name

of Lee James Harrison.

We need to locate Lee Harrison

as a matter of urgency.

We need to keep an open mind around

what we're dealing with

at the moment.

Is it mistaken identity

or is it an OCG targeted attack?

We don't know.

As I'm sure you can all appreciate,

community fear and concern

is going to be rightly

really, really high.

People, they will be

scared and frightened.

These are challenging times

for us within Merseyside.

I can't think of a worse job

that we've had recently.

The last sh**ting of a female

I can remember

was 16, maybe 17 years ago.

So it's extremely shocking.

We're all shaken.

I've been up all night.

Clearly, I came out to

To the m*rder.

At the moment, we've got

the whole area cordoned off.

People will have seen

and heard what's gone on,

and we will be appealing to them

to come forward and support us.

Ashley's been at home there

on a Saturday evening.

At what point is the expectation

that your front door

is going to get forced

and you're going to have somebody

coming in with a firearm?

There's just no words for it.

It's just you know,

it's beyond belief.

You want to apprehend these people

as soon as possible.

There's people walking around

with a firearm prepared to use it

and prepared to use it, you know,

against a female in her own home.

I mean, it's absolutely disgusting.

or just footwear? Suiting up? Yeah.

You know, with the cars

being slashed.

And we're looking knife,

not puncture.

No, it's definitely knife.

Wow.

All right, so stick to

The front door has been forced

to the premises,

and there's footwear marks,

what appears to be fresh

footwear marks on the exterior.

So we're going to be processing

front door, obviously. Great.

So I'm just looking now

some 3D imagery of the scene,

and it's a snapshot in time

with a sequence of events.

The door's obviously been

the first thing to be forced.

Ashley was in there.

The front door was locked.

The strong likelihood is

they've gone straight through,

Ashley's been there or thereabouts

in the dining room

There's ten shots discharged

downstairs that can be counted.

In the main, the majority, the eight

that we've been able to count up

so far have all been directed

towards the kitchen.

What we know from where Ashley

was found, she's ended up outside.

Early indications are that

Ashley was trying to get out

of that address.

You just can't imagine

how she must have felt.

I have never gone into

a scene like that

to see just how determined

whoever it was that's gone in,

that there is just no-one

getting out of that house alive.

So what have we got

on Ashley's phone?

We've got all her Instagram

accounts on here.

The little dog's got

his own Instagram account,

so she's got that on here.

She's got loads of chats.

They've booked a holiday

to go away too.

I think it was Ibiza.

Yesterday morning together.

Focus on the comms for yesterday.

So the conversation starts about

the dog.

This is her mum saying:

"Dogs just freaked out

when I opened the back door.

"Me hands are shaking.

I'm scared to go in the kitchen."

That was 22:23

and that was to her mum.

And then her mum says,

"What you think it was?"

And Ashley puts a rat.

"I'm shittin meself the dog

won't even come in the kitchen.

"I forced myself out here

to see if anything ran in."

It's like something has scared her.

Ashley sends Lee a message

saying the dog's proper scared.

He doesn't reply.

This continues,

and it's just one-way.

This is Ashley to Lee.

She messages saying at 23:40:

"Now me car alarms going off".

And he doesn't reply.

By letting the tyres down,

would that set the car alarm off?

I've just been asking the AFOs that

and they're not sure either.

When she's made reference to

the car alarm going off,

she had to go out and turn it off.

She has not intimated

that she's been out at all.

At one minute past midnight,

Lee then replies, saying,

"hahahaha u think your

in a horror movie".

She doesn't reply.

And six seconds later,

he texts her again saying,

"r u okay".

13 seconds after that,

he puts "Alive".

She then replies to him at

seven minutes past midnight, saying,

"No I'm dead".

And that is the last contact.

Then she's dead 23 minutes later.

NEWS: 'Detectives in Liverpool

are trying to reassure

'the local community

after a young woman was shot dead.

'The victim,

who was in her twenties,

'was found in the back garden

of a house

'in the early hours of Sunday.'

I've done this job

for nearly 30 years,

dealt with a number of fatal

shootings since I've done this job.

But this is awful.

Truly tragic circumstances.

It's horrific.

Police investigating

the m*rder of Ashley Dale

receive a ballistics report

identifying the weapon

used in the attack.

We've just had a report

back from Nabis,

the National Ballistics

Intelligence Service,

in relation to the fatal

sh**ting of Ashley.

We had 15 cartridge casings

recovered,

all fired from one firearm,

a converted blank-firing

Skorpion submachine g*n.

We've had a few of those turn up

in Merseyside recently.

We believe they're coming in from

a certain part of Europe,

and they've been obviously imported

by criminal gangs, and unfortunately

they're now being used

on the streets of Liverpool

and elsewhere in the UK.

The poor girl,

she must have been so scared

when she heard the door

getting kicked in,

and then next minute

someone comes in

and she's confronted with

someone holding that.

That is the same type of weapon

used to m*rder Ashley.

This is a high profile

Category A m*rder investigation.

Central is going to go through

just explaining the circumstances

around what we know so far.

So the fatal sh**ting

of Olivia Pratt-Korbel.

It's come in at

just 10:00 last night.

We have three injured parties.

The primary victim is

Olivia Pratt-Korbel,

nine years of age,

with one g*nsh*t wound to the chest.

The second victim is

Olivia's mother, Cheryl Korbel,

with a g*nsh*t injury to her wrist.

Tragically, she has been made aware

of the news about Olivia.

The other victim is Joseph Nee,

an extremely well-known individual

and the name is a crime family name

here on Merseyside.

He was rushed to the hospital,

not by the emergency services.

We believe he has

four g*nsh*t wounds.

He was serious but stable

as of 0430.

He is a subject of interest.

Tangible witness statements

we have in short supply.

All are extremely fearful.

I recognise that people have worked

some really, really long hours

as well in the last week.

However, this is when we step up

and we really need

to bring these people to justice.

NEWS: A manhunt

is under way in Liverpool

after a nine-year-old girl

was shot dead.

RADIO PHONE-IN:

'Everyone is heartbroken,

'and I just want people to know

that Liverpool isn't like that,

'but in the space of this past week,

'there's been so many

shootings and'

'Just stops you in your tracks,

doesn't it, when you hear the news?'

The death of a nine-year-old child

in her own home,

clinging to her mother in fear,

is just absolutely horrendous.

I personally have never had

anything quite as traumatic.

Totally unprecedented.

I've got nearly 30 years' service

in the police.

I've never seen this before.

You know, as a parent,

I fully understand

what this will mean to the family

and everybody that knew Olivia.

This area, this is

full of decent people,

and they'll be frightened.

And we know they're frightened

because we spoke to

people last night,

and they're already saying to us

that they've saw things,

but there's some reluctance

to provide statements.

We've seen that before, which is why

we will work really, really hard

in the coming days to build

that trust and confidence.

We're in this together.

This is a Category A plus m*rder.

It's the highest risk

that the police service faces.

So as a senior investigating officer

in this m*rder, the pressure's on.

They'll soon phone me.

At the house,

we found two g*nsh*t defects.

One shot was fired into

the side of the door,

and that b*llet is still

lodged in the door.

gone right through the door.

In three decades of reporting,

I think this is the most tragic

and upsetting series of events

surrounding the death of a child

that I've ever heard.

and unimaginable circumstances.

A man who drove more than

200 miles to pay his respects.

It just shouldn't be happening.

Knife crime, g*n crime,

about 9:45, 9:50. We heard

and as I looked

down the street to my left

the other one was running after him.

So I ran back in the house

and then I heard him saying,

They were trying

and I tried my best to keep it shut.

Until I got shot.

I realised that must have been

when she was hit.

And I was just screaming,

"Please, Liv, stay with me."

Detectives review CCTV footage

from the night of Olivia's m*rder.

The footage shows a g*nman

sh**ting Joseph Nee.

Joseph Nee was the intended target.

We know he's a criminal.

The Nee family are involved

in organised crime.

And this is the arrival of Nee,

who's carried into Whiston Hospital

by three other males.

How is he? Yeah, so,

spoke to Joseph today.

His condition remains the same.

He has got tubes, etc.

The first thing he'd asked me was,

is it true that the girl has died?

I've confirmed that with him

and he did start crying

in his hospital bed.

He stated that he was in The Bunker

pub watching the Liverpool game

with Man United. He said

he left the pub after the game

and just started making his way

back towards his home address.

Then all of a sudden,

he said he's felt an immediate pain

through his entire body.

He said he's run away and has made

his way to the first thing he saw,

which was an open door

just over the road.

The person with the g*n

has continued to sh**t at him,

and knows that he put his arm

through the door and has shot.

He states he's absolutely

no idea who the sh**ter is,

what it's over. He claims that

he wants to help the investigation,

but when I asked if he would give me

a statement as to what he said,

he then refused, saying he doesn't

want to be known as a grass

or bring any retribution

to his door.

I'm not impressed with that, really.

Let's be honest.

Yeah, really dim view of that,

really.

I think probably everybody

in the room will have as well.

We understand he's going

to be fearful, but

And when we're out in the community

and people are saying

they're too scared to give us

statements, just remind them

that it's a nine-year-old child

that's been shot dead.

Police today appealed to

the local community and

what they called

the criminal fraternity

to come forward with information.

They are making it very clear

that a line has been crossed

and the criminal fraternity

in Liverpool need to have a long,

hard look at themselves,

to give up the person

and the other people

involved in this.

If this was a targeted attack,

it was targeted at a man

who had nothing at all

to do with Olivia or her mother.

Very similar to an attack just

a mile and a half away from here -

Ashley Dale, shot and k*lled

in her own garden,

again when a g*nman

forced entry into her property.

Caught in the crossfire.

Not the intended victim

of the sh**ting,

but again, a young person

losing their life.

Olivia has been given

operational name Robin.

Ashley's name is Operation Perth.

We're not ruling out that that this

is connected to Olivia's m*rder.

At this stage, open mind.

Detectives continue to investigate

the m*rder of 28-year-old

Ashley Dale.

They have tracked down

her boyfriend, Lee Harrison.

Me and Claire went to speak to Lee.

He presented extremely upset.

He loves her.

Doesn't know why

the house has been targeted.

And a couple of times,

he did say, Claire, didn't he,

that if he knew it was down to him,

you know, he'd be devastated.

He's basically said he has tried

to come to the police station -

he was on his way to Huyton -

but was far too upset.

He won't give us anything

in relation to who was responsible.

What did Ashley's parents say

about her relationship with Lee?

We've been out to see Dad

We did speak about Ashley and Lee.

They've been together

for around six years.

As far as Dad understands it,

it's a good relationship.

He's not aware of

any domestic issues.

We've invested so much time

in trying to, one, find him

and to get him to engage,

but he isn't fully speaking to us.

From what we know and Ashley

and looking at her background,

speaking with friends,

family, you know,

the people that she worked with,

she was a graduate,

she was doing well,

working for the local authority.

She was extremely well-liked,

from what we know at the minute.

So why why wouldn't he

tell us what's going on?

And we can't ignore the fact that,

from his behaviour,

it strongly supports

or suggests that

it's something he's involved in.

So that is Ashley and Lee.

When you review the content of the

phone,

you see someone living their life,

and she's a normal 28-year-old.

There is reference in conversations

that we've reviewed on the phone

where they are talking about

moving house

and taking those next steps.

They get a dog.

She refers to the dog

as being a sort of precursor

to having a child with him.

But certainly from the way Ashley

talked about him to her friends,

I would say that she was very much

in love with him.

Ashley's family released

a tribute to her this afternoon.

They said that she was

"our shining light,

"and our hearts are broken

into a million pieces."

They say her laugh, smile and energy

were infectious in any room.

The family are trying to

come to terms with what happened.

They say this doesn't make any sense

and their lives

will never be the same again.

Ashley sends a message

around 11:40 Yeah.

..to say that

her car alarm's going off.

So we've got this car here -

now, the real time for that

is 23:36.31 -

going into the road.

This Ring doorbell gets activated,

and that's at 23:36.

But then we've got

The same car's back again

..45 minutes later.

It turns into the road at 00:29:54,

pulls over for, like, a few seconds,

then pulls off down the road.

Then it leaves the road at 00:33.07,

so that's, what, just over

three minutes it's in the road.

And that's when

the murders happened. OK.

What we've got is absolutely key.

Really significant CCTV.

In terms of a vehicle

that is of interest,

we've got CCTV at the relevant time.

So, Chris, will you just talk about

that CCTV and what it shows? Yep.

At 00:30 hours, we've got vehicle

turning into Leinster Road.

A number of neighbours

collectively all hear

this distinctive drilling type noise

around half past midnight

and hearing a female scream

before all going quiet.

Her neighbours have

doorbell footage.

She accesses it live at 00:39,

which is confirmed post-offence,

and you can see

the front of the premises

with the door insecure

and the hallway lights illuminated.

We absolutely need

to track that vehicle.

Where has it gone after?

What have we got it pre-m*rder?

Who is associated to that vehicle?

That's going to be critical.

m*rder of Olivia Pratt-Korbel.

I'm going to show you

some footage in a moment

of a man that m*rder*d Olivia.

I'm doing this because people may

recognise what he's wearing.

This footage that we're looking at

at the moment shows the g*nman

running away from

Kingsheath Avenue.

The g*nman is wearing

a black padded jacket,

a black balaclava,

and also has dark trainers

with distinctive white soles.

He is described as approximately

five foot seven tall

and of slim build.

This is the man we are hunting for.

Now, I know that there will be

people shielding him

and helping this man avoid

being found by the police.

This man is toxic.

He is toxic to our communities,

and if you're protecting him,

he's toxic to you and your family.

I want you to place the loyalty

that you have towards your family

above the loyalty that you may have

to this man.

Olivia's family

simply need to have justice.

My message to the g*nman:

We will not rest until we find you.

And we will find you.
