Green and Gold (2025)

Post by bunniefuu »

[birds squawking]

RADIO ANNOUNCER:

Over the last quarter century

the Packers have been to

the post-season just twice.

WOMAN: [on radio]

I'm calling in to wish

the Packers good luck,

and Brett Favre

can chase me

around the field anytime.

[laughs]

[radio dial tuning]

JENNY [on radio]:

If it's okay, um,

I'd like to start

by telling you

why I wrote this song.

-[alarm clock beeping]

-[cows mooing]

[barn door squeaking]

[cows mooing]

[g*n clicks]

MAN: [on radio] The sun's out,

and the water is clear as gin

in God's corner of Paradise.

We welcome you

to Telephone Time

-[grunting]

-where we buy, sell,

and talk all things

Green and Gold.

We're gonna

head to some calls

[g*nsh*t]

"T.T."

you're on the air.

[birds squawking]

[softly]

That's it.

[cows mooing,

birds squawking]

BUCK: Hay barn!

[whistles]

Hey!

Hay barn, come on

-Come on, girls.

-[cows mooing]

Come on, get, go on in.

Yeah, come on,

go on in.

[bird screeching]

Oh, man.

Why? What'd you do?

What happened?

Hey, little one.

Oh, easy, easy.

There, sweetheart.

Wow.

-[owl screeching]

-Oh, you're pretty.

Easy, easy, easy.

Good Lord,

how'd you get in here?

[cow moos,

owl screeching]

Buck!

-Buck!

-What?

It's Max!

It's Max.

Max McGee,

her calf is stuck.

I've never seen anyone stuck

this bad. I need help.

[panting]

It's okay, it's okay.

It's okay, girl.

[mooing]

Okay, you got this,

no problem.

Her legs are wrapped.

I need a rope.

Get me a rope.

I know you're strong

enough, Jenny, no ropes.

-Pull, pull.

-I am pulling!

Twist, then pull.

-Come on, now.

-[struggling]

BUCK: Yeah!

-Good.

-[mooing]

-Ahh!

-Good job, good.

Oh, good. Good.

JENNY:

That's a good girl.

BUCK:

Come on. She's okay.

Okay.

JENNY: Oh, come on,

let's get you stable.

Come on.

That's a girl.

That's a good girl.

Oh [grunts]

JENNY: Oh my.

BUCK: Oh, my.

Hey, listen.

You gotta quit

shootin' at that light

'cause you're scarin'

the h*ifers.

I mean, you hit it,

Joni Mitchell,

you're gonna get your little

tail up there and fix it.

I got an early start

at the Haywards'.

There's a little bit left,

but I was going to meet

with some friends

who are back from college.

Oh, yeah, college, yeah.

Right.

Some people value

a formal education.

Well, I'll tell ya somethin'.

Redneck Tech

is a fine education.

Yeah, but nothing like

butchering and plowing

on the top of your rsum.

You know, if we didn't

farm like the Amish--

Jenny, you know

you're smarter than most,

and you're more savvy, too--

I'm not saying I'm not

grateful. I'm just saying--

that a college education

gets you.

JENNY: It might be nice

to travel or, uh

Something wrapped in plastic,

and you shove it

right in the microwave.

See the world,

experience something.

-Oh, I travel.

-w*r travels don't count.

We live in the middle

of nowhere.

Huh?

w*r travels don't count.

We live in the middle

-Yeah.

-of nowhere.

Yeah. Stop it!

Right now!

[cows mooing]

You know who

you're sounding like?

-Your mother.

-And?

You wanna be a music gypsy,

and you wanna have

a child out of wedlock,

you go right ahead.

-Hey.

Uh, morning.

Um, I think Maxie

needs some help.

BUCK:

Yeah, well, you call the vet,

and lock the bullpen

before you go.

Okay.

You got a little,

um, somethin'

[spits]

[spits]

[mooing continues]

JENNY:

For my grandpa Buck,

farming wasn't a job

or even a way of life.

MAN: [over radio]

When you look

at the NFC board this year,

it's a sh**ting match,

and that means

the road to the Super Bowl

might come

right through Lambeau Field.

JENNY:

It was a sacred act.

And from what he could tell,

most of the problems for man

stem from the fact

that he no longer had

his hands in the dirt

ANNOUNCER: [on TV]

Packers on the drive

JENNY: or cheer for

the Green Bay Packers.

Here we go.

JENNY: For him,

it wasn't the frozen tundra.

It was a Garden of Eden,

where he was Adam,

and with a rotating group of

optimistic young farmhands,

got to name the cows.

Max McGee, Bart Starr,

Jerry Kramer, Buddy Davis.

All after the '67

championship team.

ANNOUNCER: They call it

Lambeau Field for a reason.

JENNY: And the pigs.

One was named Ditka,

for obvious reasons.

ANNOUNCER: You go back

into the '80s with Mike Ditka.

[rustling]

JENNY:

No salesman could convince him

that buying the newest

in graze equipment

would improve anything

that actually mattered to him.

[engine rumbling]

[rapping indistinctly]

JENNY:

I can't do farm anymore.

'cause I like that beat

Ooh-whee!

I was on my way out for some

bigger dreams than just

[lamb bleats]

squeezing

Jerry Kramer's teats.

-You want me to get that?

-No, I got it.

Shovelin'. Gotta go!

Oh

I have a zit on my face

Yeah, okay. Oh!

All right. Whoo!

[engine revving]

MARGARET: Girl!

Gran! Hey,

Buck's new manager's here!

You might wanna get dressed.

Oh, you're worried

I'm gonna cause him

to have impure thoughts.

Whoo!

So much sass

so early in the morning.

Apple tree.

Does your grandad know

where you're heading?

Oh, he knows

I'll be home later.

Well, give 'em the beans.

I gotta run.

MARGARET:

Wait, wait, wait, we got a--

Gotta go!

JENNY: All nature sings,

roundly rings

We go back to the earth

Looking for answers

But can't see our way

in the dirt

Out in the distance,

a voice calling out

Draws my gaze

She sounds like my mother

And I feel at peace

through her pain

Once in a while

I feel the ghost

But she knows my pain

Wonder if I still

look the same

All things go

In the maple grove

Through the wild willow

Time is slow,

all things go

All things move

Mm-hmm

Whether win or lose

Mm-hmm

Where the seeds

are sown

This is still our home

All things go

[cheers and applause]

[song ends]

Thank you so much.

Have a good night!

-Hey. That my shift drink?

-You sure you're old enough?

[chuckles]

Ah, legal age where I grew up

is deer camp.

-[chuckles]

-[bottles rattle]

Not too shabby

for your first time.

[man singing indistinctly]

We should talk about

some more shows.

[bottle clatters]

Thanks, yeah,

that would be awesome.

["Running on Empty"

playing on radio]

JACKSON BROWNE:

Running on empty

Hey, girl! Whoo!

Running into the sun

but I'm gonna be

MAN: What?

Just get the hell outta here.

-Well.

-Go on, man.

Sorry, Buck.

Yeah, right,

you're sorry like hell.

Give me a break.

-Get the hell out.

-[engine turns off]

Your dad wouldn't have done

anything like this.

-JERRY: He would have.

-BUCK: Oh, he would?

No, he wouldn't.

He understood

the importance of things

and how they're made.

JERRY: Nobody cares how it's

made. They just want it cheap.

No, they care, they care,

if they understand!

JENNY:

What was that about?

Where the hell you been?

Your grandma's in the barn.

You give her a hand.

[sighs]

Damn it.

Come here, come on.

I know. Yeah. Come on, hey.

Come here. Come on.

Do you know what's

going on out there?

Ugh. If I hear yelling,

it's usually something

he doesn't like

on the radio.

I wish he'd come in here

and give us a hand.

Now, this one's

having trouble taking.

Oh, come here.

It might just be the angle.

MARGARET: Huh!

JENNY: That's good,

that's good, Fuzzy.

I made some money

at the show.

Oh, that's wonderful.

Well, you know,

"Telephone Time"

is starting to take

special guests.

-[groaning]

Now, come on, come on,

there are so many people

who would love

to hear you sing.

Yeah. Maybe when I'm 60

and my hair's falling out.

I see God smile

when you sing.

I do.

[cows lowing]

Yeah, yeah.

I talked to Goadie today.

Apparently,

she's got some musicians

staying up at her neighbor's

cabin up on Big Lake.

Bill somebody,

I don't know.

Red, Ride.

Reed?

-Huh?

-Billy Reed?

Yeah, that's it.

Really?!

What is he doing up here?

She said maybe you should

stop by and say hello and

maybe don't mention it

to you-know-who.

Yeah.

Mm-hmm. That's my girl.

I still remember

Throwing stones

outside your door

Waiting for you

in the rain

We called our names

On the bench

on Primrose Hill

We didn't think

they'd fade away

[guitar strumming]

I've gotta find a way

Oh, you're mine

[whispers] Oh. All right.

Wherever I go

Wherever I go, honey

[under breath]

Oh, you're mine

RADIO HOST:

Like walleyes to worms,

we're going back

to the lines.

T.T., you're on the air.

WOMAN:

Hey, this is Enos,

and I'm calling

about the Packers.

We're gonna take her

all the way

to the Super Bowl this year.

[laughs]

HOST: Lines are open

[barn door squeaks]

[g*n clicks]

[birds and insects chirping]

[g*nsh*t]

[thwack]

[birds squawking]

ANNOUNCER: We welcome you

to the historic Lambeau Field

in Green Bay, Wisconsin,

as we get set

to kick off against the Rams.

There's a buzz in the air.

CHOIR:

How great Thou art

How great Thou art

And through the woods

And forest glades

I wander

[yawning deeply]

And hear the birds

Take off the headphones.

That's rude.

[sighs deeply]

Then sings my soul

-Did you feed Fuzzy?

-Mm-hmm.

-Clean the goat shed?

-Mm-hmm.

-Comb for eggs?

-Mm-hmm.

-Water the horses?

-How great Thou art

I'll do that later.

How great Thou art

Who was that guy

in the red car yesterday?

How great Thou art

Get up earlier next time.

PASTOR: Thank you so much

to our wonderful choir

for that beautiful song.

I'm reminded of the words

of Wendell Berry,

who wrote,

"All goes back to the earth,

so I do not desire

pride of excess or power,

but the contentments

made by men

who've had little.

The fisherman's silence

receiving"

BUCK:

Cripes, I gotta go.

Shh-shh!

He's talking truth up there

if you'd just listen.

Kickoff's any second now.

Come on.

With Poet Longfellow here,

he's bound to take us

into sermon number two,

for God's sake.

I signed you up to serve

soup lunch afterwards.

-What?

-Mm-hmm.

I gotta go water the horses,

boss' orders.

MARGARET: [whispers]

Catch you at home.

PASTOR:

"and that has bent my mind,

and made me think

of darkness

and wish

for the dumb life of roots."

Hi, Billy?

[guitar strumming]

-Uh, Billy? Hi.

-[strumming stops]

[Jenny clears throat]

-May I help you?

-Um, hi, I'm Jenny.

I'm from a few farms over.

Jenny, local musician.

Yeah, well, I'm

not sure if I love

that description, but

Goadie said

you might be stopping by.

You know,

if you like to fish,

there's a crib

just left of the inlet

and after sundown

it's a fish a cast.

I don't know why I'm talking

about fishing so much.

That sounds nice.

If I had time,

I definitely would.

Yeah, no, right.

That makes sense.

Look, I don't really

get the opportunity to, um,

meet a lot of musicians

around here.

Like, you know, real ones,

and so when Goadie told me

that you might be down here,

I just thought,

maybe I would come down and

introduce myself

and show you my work.

That's gutsy.

I like it.

You got a tape or

Uh, yeah, I do, um

I mean, it's homemade.

I made it at the farm, so

it's a little rough but

You farm?

Yeah.

It's fascinating.

I-I-I'm trying to, like

I want to write with more,

uh

emphasis on the natural

elements, you know,

the earth, the dirt,

the soil and

[birds calling]

help silence

my irrational thoughts.

Yeah, well, um,

my address and number

are on the back, so, yeah,

if you wanna

stop by or something,

you know, No pressure.

I'll give a listen.

Boo-yah.

[laughs nervously]

Thanks. Enjoy your night.

-PASTOR: Buck!

-BUCK: Huh?

-PASTOR: Buck.

-Yeah?

Hey, thank you for replacing

that water heater.

You saved us a fortune.

I just got tired of cold water

comin' out of both taps,

is all.

No, I mean it.

I appreciate how you're always

helping out around here.

Just taking better care

of things,

like the Good Book says.

Aw, hell, see ya.

Hey, listen, how come you

schedule a potluck

on game day, anyway?

[players grunting]

ANNOUNCER:

tackle in the end zone.

Touchdown, Green Bay!

[crowd cheering]

An outstanding run.

[ding]

You gonna run

with the big dogs,

you gotta learn to take a whiz

in the tall grass.

You're just embarrassed to be

losing to your wife's

boyfriend in your own house.

BUCK:

Not threatened by a man

with a spare tire

around his waist.

-Well, it's my sweat floating.

-[chuckles]

-Ah, yes.

-BUCK: Brozo, come on,

The kitty's smokin' hot.

Let's go.

The cards are on ice.

Uh, I'll go for

horse and buggy. Uh

-Your bid.

-Pass.

Ooh! Sweet it is!

It's like they knew

what I was missing.

Spades is trump, but dang,

shoulda shot the moon!

Jenny Music!

-Don't call me that.

-Oh, yes, the "artiste."

When are you coming down

to "Telephone Time,"

playing for us simple folk?

-Not gonna happen.

I wanna hear you before you

become rich and famous.

Hmm, no guarantee of that.

You don't have to make

a lesson out of it.

You're missing

all the beauty around you.

Well, it's tough to take

advice from the losing team.

Uh, you--you guys

hear about Silvio?

Uh, the bank's closing

on his dirt.

Don't know if they're

gonna keep their house

or if it goes to

the Farm and Loan.

They've been dealt

the orange sticker of death.

Uh, your bet, Buck.

Yeah, I pass. [sniffs]

[g*nsh*t]

[birds squawking]

RADIO HOST: Sponsored by

Jumpin' Joe's Bait and Tackle.

The Packers aren't the only

ones that tackle.

Jumpin' Joe's has

everything you need

for multi-species action.

JENNY: Who's that?

BUCK: Leave us alone. Crap!

JERRY: Oh, hey, hey.

Hey, Buck.

BUCK: Hey, Jerry!

What the hell are you doing?

JERRY: I'm taking pictures.

BUCK: Yeah, I can see that.

Why don't you take 'em

somewhere else?

Oh, I can't.

I got an agribusiness

interested

in developing the place.

BUCK: A what now?

Oh, it'll be

a huge operation.

Yeah, they're gonna wanna

tear all this down

and build a facility

for a thousand head.

Oh, I think you're for--

I think you're forgetting

something here.

This ain't your land.

Ah, well, when you

don't pay your loan,

it becomes my land,

doesn't it?

As much as you want it to,

farming doesn't look like

it does in children's books,

with the price of milk

these days.

Prices rise and fall,

Jerry, I mean, hell,

you don't change everything

just to make it worse--

Prices coming back up are

about as likely

as the Packers

winning the Super Bowl.

Huh? What was that?

[chuckles] That was

What?

About as likely

as the Packers

winning the Super Bowl.

Well, now you've gone

too far. No.

Whoa. Whoa, whoa, whoa.

You've gone too far, there,

Jerry.

-What are you doing, Buck?

-Stand still.

I'm a little shaky, you know?

Things could snap.

-This is as*ault.

-This ain't as*ault.

-Hold still.

-Buck.

-Hold still.

-You are incredible.

-I got PTSD.

-You just assaulted me.

-I go crazy when

-Over a football rivalry.

I don't even know

when it's gonna happen.

It just hits me.

You think I like doing this?

Tearing down the little guy,

Buck--you think I like it?

Well, your license plate

says "Ahole."

[Jerry scoffs]

[laughs] Okay.

All right, Buck, I'll play.

Delinquency on personal loans

is discretionary.

You know what that means?

It means I call the shots.

But I will make a little wager

with you. How about that?

The Pack go all the way,

I will give you another year,

interest-free,

to get caught up.

And if they lose,

you either pay in full

immediately,

or you sign everything

over to me.

Everything--livestock,

the equipment, and the house.

Take it.

Oh, we ain't bettin' folks,

Jenny.

Aw, shucks!

Would've been fun.

Uh-huh.

[Buck sighs] Mm.

How much

do we owe the bank?

If we're so far behind

on payments,

then how did we afford

the new Holsteins?

You want to start

doing the books?

[soft music

playing on radio]

[turns radio off]

How much do we owe

the bank?

Turn it back on!

[cows mooing]

REPORTER: [on radio]

The ongoing farming woes

continue as milk prices drop

in the eighth

straight week today,

causing a crisis

among farmers,

making it harder for them

to make a profit

and stay in business.

-[changes station]

REPORTER #2: Man,

this was a tough loss, folks.

The Packers were playing

so well the whole game

and did everything

but win it.

REPORTER 1:

an alarming statistic,

showing that farmers

and ranchers

are among the most likely

to die by suicide.

AARON: Come on.

[clicking tongue] Come on.

-[bell clanking]

-Yeah.

Whoa!

Where you heading?

Personal business.

Come on.

[door opens,

Jerry speaks indistinctly]

-Hi.

-Oh.

[chuckles]

What can I do for ya?

Do you have a quick sec?

Sure.

-I'm Jenny.

-I know who you are.

What do you need, Jenny?

Um, how can I get

a different loan?

Like a personal one,

in my name,

so that I can

pay off the farm?

Have you

established any credit?

Um

I will take that as a no.

Your grandpa owes a whole lot

of money and, um,

frankly, you have no credit,

and he has no credibility.

We're very credible people.

You farm like

it's the 1800s.

He's trying to do right

by the soil and the animals.

That may be, but the bank

goes by the numbers.

The numbers don't tell

the full story.

It don't matter.

There are a lot of ways

to make more money

with that land.

We just need more time.

And I'm finding ways

to make more money,

and milk prices

are going to go up.

We just need

a little bit of grace.

When you're a little older,

you'll understand grace

isn't how things work.

You got your whole life

ahead of you.

If you're just a little less

stubborn than the old man,

you'll--you'll do fine.

[door opens]

Hi, honey.

Does your daughter

like horses?

It's a beautiful drawing.

[hooves clopping, bird cawing]

BUCK: Hey ya, Pete.

Hey, Buck, how she go?

-Oh, she's going good.

-[grunts]

-How about yourself?

-Good.

Read them Packers

starting off hot, eh?

Yeah, well,

that Mississippi man

makes me want to soil

my britches sometimes.

[chuckles]

What can I do for ya?

Well, uh, Pete, you know,

I was wondering, um

thinking about freeing up

some cash and everything,

and, uh, was gonna sell

the TW-30,

see if you'd might be

interested.

That is a nice tractor

you got there, yeah.

But

I don't know.

I mean,

with everybody struggling,

there's no value in the

equipment, even, you know?

You know, I could offer you

a couple thousand.

Oh, heck, Pete, you know,

she's worth 40 stacks new.

She's barely been used,

I mean

I don't mean to offend.

Well, hey. Thank you, Pete.

-Oh, of course, Buck.

-Yeah.

Did you see that underhand

shovel pass Favre threw?

[exhales deeply]

He calls that a pass,

you know?

I don't know if

I'd call that a pass.

Yeah, I know.

-[clears throat]

-Go easy, man.

REPORTER: [on radio]

The Packers might be

the strongest team

[radio commentary

continues indistinctly]

should challenge that.

I think we're starting to

pump the gas again in--

-[radio turns off]

-Really?!

On a Tuesday?

AARON: Do you mind?!

Turning it back on?!

JENNY: How they looking

this year, anyway?

I thought you were the only

person in Wisconsin

not interested in the Pack.

I'm not.

Well [sighs]

I'd say they're looking

pretty tough, but, you know,

it doesn't mean much.

I think that every year.

So, that g*nsh*t thing.

Kind of ruins mornings.

Joni Mitchell "Sunny Sunday"?

The day she hits

That's the day

she'll leave

It's a good song.

You should check it out.

-[sighs]

-AARON: You're leaving?

I don't know.

How do you like working

on a farm with no machines?

I think Buck's way ahead

of his time.

I think he's blind to the fact

that family farms are on

the endangered species list.

I don't know,

but land is to be nurtured

and tended to, not just used

and ruled like a dictator.

[both laugh]

Buck, he's

You drank

Buck's poetic Kool-Aid.

-[birds squawking]

-AARON: Yeah.

JENNY: You gotta make money,

though, you know?

Yeah, money.

Well, you sure seem to be good

at everything around here.

Are you flirting with me?

I wouldn't dare.

REPORTER: We got a 3-game

losing streak right now.

[g*nsh*t, cat meows]

-[cows mooing]

-My friend.

[whispering] My poor baby.

You are just

You're my favorite

of them all.

JENNY: Under the tree

Under the moon

You sing to me

A terrible joke

I call your name

You sang me

A Joni

Tune

Hello there.

MARGARET: What do you think

you're doing, you old fool?

Well, now,

I'm just up here, looking

at the most beautiful thing

in the county.

You're starting to talk

to me like your cows.

Yeah. Now, you get those

sweet buns over here.

Yeah, come on.

Here!

[both laughing]

-Oh, yeah.

-Oh, yeah.

Mmm!

[laughing and kissing]

[exhales deeply]

After all these years,

your kisses can still

make me dizzy.

[chuckles]

What?

Oh, Margaret,

I don't know.

Do you still believe

in what we're doing?

More than anything.

[cat meows]

He does, too.

[chuckling]

Oh, golly.

-Yeah.

-Just be careful.

-Huh?

-Uh-huh.

-All right?

-Mm-hmm.

[cat meows]

[dramatic music]

Buck!

-Patty just called!

-BUCK: What?!

JENNY: She said Brozo

locked himself in the shed.

He's locked in the shed

with a shotgun.

Broze! It's Buck! And Jenny.

Hey.

Brozo?

What's going on?

Broze?

Come on, now, hey.

Hey.

It's not your fault

your farm's on the fritz, son.

I mean, we're goosed too.

Everybody's feelin' the pinch.

It's just what's happenin'.

Um [sniffles]

Do you remember

when my mom died and

you taught me a song to sing

when I'm sad?

Do you remember that?

It got me through more times

than you could know.

[sniffles]

This is my Father's world

And to my listening ears

All nature sings

And round me rings

The music of the spheres

[crying softly]

[sobbing]

It's okay, it's okay.

It's okay.

[sniffles]

PATTY: Are you okay?

ANNOUNCER: [on TV/ Favre pulls

back from center, throws

He's got Jackie Harris,

the tight end at the 40,

to the 30!

He takes it to the house!

Touchdown, Green Bay!

REPORTER: [on radio]

What a difference

the past three weeks

have made.

The Packers have turned

things around.

They're back at 500,

and things are looking like

they're starting

to click for this team

I wish you'd bet.

[reporter continues

indistinctly on radio]

Uh-huh.

Reggie White, LeRoy Butler.

Hey, we

Nothing to lose,

it's not like you're gonna sit

in the house

and watch whoever that guy

tries to place it to.

Just saying

it's an easy way to--

Things that come easy don't

teach you anything.

They're a gift,

and gifts are nice,

but a kid don't learn anything

on his birthday

except how to eat his cake.

Since when is it acceptable

to just ignore

problems around here?

We'll do just fine.

Just liquidate

the things that

we don't need.

Yeah, but what about Brozo?

Everyone else

is shutting down.

AARON:

Buck! Hey!

Redneck folks do it every year

on six inches of top soil

the fact that it rains.

Someone's rounding up the

Holsteins up on the North 40.

-What?

-JENNY: Oh, God.

[cows mooing]

BUCK: Hey! What the hell

do you think you're doing?

Give me one reason

not to put a hole in you

for cattle rustling.

Just doing

what I'm told, man.

-By who?!

-I'm not at liberty to say.

Who gave you permission?

Ah, crap.

-Get out--

-[punch lands]

Oh. Hey! Come on!

-What was that?!

-Got him touching my rig.

Aaron, you good?

Yeah, I'm okay.

Come on!

[softly] Seriously.

[groans]

[engine revving]

Come on!

[truck horn blares]

Ahh!

Buck!

Where you going?

[tractor engine turns on]

-Girl, hey!

-Give me time!

[engine starts]

[glass squeaking]

[dramatic music continues]

[truck horn blares]

Ahh!

Uh, what can I do for ya?

You steal my cattle,

you steal my livelihood.

It's hard to steal

what you already own.

Well, I can't pay you back

if I don't have 'em.

I can't give 'em back

because you don't own 'em.

-I'm gonna take the bet.

-What?

BUCK: Yeah, I got a good

feeling about the Pack,

and plus, I need time

to turn this thing around.

[chuckles]

I was, I was half-kidding.

Yep.

[keys clatter]

Take that as a down payment

to what I owe you.

You can never use

the damn thing anyway.

[scoffs]

You better pray

God owes the Pack a favor.

BUCK: Oh, shut up.

Cattle rustlin'.

[keys jangle]

-Don't say a word.

-[engine starts]

PASTOR: Today we're kicking

off our series on waiting.

Those who wait on the Lord

shall renew their strength.

Take that in for a moment.

Wait.

Be patient.

Don't be rashful,

and the Lord

will have your back.

[whispering]

I think I left the gate open.

-I'll go help.

-PASTOR: And the Lord

will heal you.

-Yeah.

PASTOR: He will renew you.

[whispering] Don't worry.

Goadie can give me a lift.

ANNOUNCER: [on TV]

It's the Packers and Chiefs

playing tonight. I'll tell you

something, folks

JENNY:

Let's go, let's go!

-Come on!

-I'm coming, I'm coming.

-Hurry up, old man!

-Jeez. I'm moving.

Final seconds

Favre back to zone.

Pocket collapses,

and he is sacked.

-No! No! No!

Throw the dang ball,

would ya? Ugh!

-[cheering on TV]

-You two look like a couple

of green sailors

in a windstorm.

Time winds down, and the

Packers drop back to 500.

[TV shuts off]

-You get the gate closed?

-[grumbles]

JENNY:

Hold me like a fire

Hold me like a river

JENNY: He had a bet to win.

Hold me like a fire

So, we went all in on the Pack

and tried to run lean.

I'll take these in.

-You told me

-Hold me like a fire

-Hold me like a river

-No man is a mountain

You're a miracle girl.

Know that, Fuzzy?

-Hold me like a river

-You told me

Maybe you got an in

with the guy upstairs, huh?

-No man is the sea

-Maybe you can tell Him

the farmers need

a little help, too.

ANNOUNCER: [on TV]

The Packers take the lead

in the NFC North,

as Mike Holmgren

shepherds this young team

towards the playoffs.

He tends His flock

like a shepherd.

Six seconds to go.

Packers down by just two.

It's all on the right leg

of Chris Jacke.

Here's the snap.

Swing to the right leg,

The kick is up.

It is good!

And the Packers win 19 to 17!

Do you not know?

I heard they're paying people

to slaughter herds

to help supply drop-off.

-Good Lord.

Good Lord, Vince.

-[horse passing gas]

-Ooh.

I do not herd.

[chanting]

Go Packs, go! Go Packs, go!

PASTOR: The Lord gives

strength to the weary

and increases

the power of the weak.

-[grunting]

- Hold me like a river

PASTOR: Even youths

grow tired and weary.

BUCK: Here we go!

ANNOUNCER: Second down,

and here's Butler!

Just, uh, get on your center.

weak side out to the left,

Evans under center.

You fall off, I get 10 bucks.

Eight seconds, you go

to the fish fry with me.

Lose, then you cover

my rounds.

It's kinda like

our first date!

Hold on, baby!

Come on, hotcakes!

Whoo!

-Whoa!

- Second down.

Here's Evans. They chase him

out of the pocket.

He sets up a screen,

and it's snapped down

at the 38 yard line.

And young

may stumble and fall.

-Get up.

-Get up!

Wait a minute. It's a fumble!

The Packers have the ball.

Reggie has it! He stumbles.

Now pitches to Butler.

Go, baby, go!

JENNY: Hold me like a fire

They will soar on wings

like eagles.

The 20, the 10, the 5

touchdown!

-Go!

[cheering]

Hold me like a fire,

hold me like a river

LeRoy's having a party

up in the stands.

[laughter]

Hold me like a fire

Hold me like a river

-Hallelujah!

-Hold me like a fire

Hold me like a river

[chanting] Go Pack, go!

Go Pack, go!

Go Pack, go!

ANNOUNCER:

I tell ya something, folks,

for the Packers,

the cheddar is aging nicely.

AARON: Whoo-hoo!

You're my buckle buddy

Friday night!

JENNY: All right, all right.

You won.

Hotcakes again?

[engine turns off]

Oh, wait, let me get

the door for ya.

-JENNY: Nope, nope.

-[doors shut]

I've never seen you

without a hat.

My hair gets poufy.

Get--

-I like the pouf.

-Come--

I'm gonna--I'm gonna look

like an idiot. Come on.

Scott!

Sit down and have a seat,

you dilly bangers.

They're calling this

the Lambeau Leap.

Hi.

How you doing?

JENNY:

The fields that grow

-AARON: Stay here.

-JENNY: Okay.

As time goes round

and round

-AARON: One, two, three.

-Oh, I don't know

what you're doing.

-That was--that was good.

That was really bad.

You don't have to lie.

[both laughing]

Wow, you know, I think--

I'm really actually

so bad--oh!

Very good.

When you remind

-A little faster.

-Yeah.

me

How I was helped

All along

[cows mooing]

[vehicle approaching]

[clucking]

-[engine idling]

-Hey!

The season's not over!

[kicks car]

[engine turns off]

-BILLY: Hey.

-Oh, my God.

I-I am so sorry.

Don't worry about it.

I thought that this was

someone else. I

-I can fix this.

-How you doing?

Um, good, yeah. Uh

-Yeah?

-Yeah.

-Nice to see ya.

-JENNY: Yeah.

-Hi!

-Hi.

JENNY: Um

BILLY: This place is magical.

Yeah, thanks.

Uh, yeah, I mean,

you know,

a lot of people think that

the way we do things

is kind of archaic,

like the horses

and hand-milking stuff, but

My grandpa, Buck--he's got

a mind of his own,

so, it's not

"Can we do it anymore?"

But, "Should we do it?"

Uh, yeah, well

Damn. Beautiful creatures.

[cows mooing]

That's, uhHerb Adderley

and Billy Davis,

Forrest Gregg,

Bart Starr.

Championship cows named after

the '68 championship squad.

[camera clicks]

-Go, Packers!

-Do you wanna

check out the barn?

-Yeah.

This is mydomain.

Wow.

Yeah.

-Amazing.

-Well, thank you.

[cow mooing]

[bird chirping]

[Billy tapping guitar]

[plays chords]

I wanna take your tape

and share it with my manager.

I was blown away. I mean,

your ability to connect

everyday, mundane works,

the nature of eternity,

I mean,

you're beyond your years.

I can't make any promises,

but I think there--

there might be an opportunity

in there for you.

Wow, thank you. That, um

-That would be amazing.

-[ladder steps creak]

AARON:

Hey, Jenny, have you seen--

-Hey.

-Hey.

Hey.

Um, this is Billy Reed.

-Hey, man.

-Nice to meet you, Billy Reed.

Pleasure. What's your name?

Just Aaron.

-"Just Aaron."

-Just Aaron, yeah.

Hey, Just Aaron, do you mind

taking a picture of us?

Sure, yeah.

Just take--yeah.

Should I just sit right there?

BILLY: Yeah.

Here, sit here.

[camera shutter clicks]

MARGARET:

You are staying the night,

and I won't hear

another word against it.

Those roads

aren't safe in the dark,

and with the rut [scoffs]

Those deer are like

high school boys

running around with their

brains between their legs.

BILLY: All right.

I'll stay.

Your home

is absolutely lovely.

You know,

Jenny would be

fourth generation

in this shack.

BUCK:

Jerry Kramer has a yeast--

Grandpa, this is Billy.

infection.

Sir.

William Reed.

Pleasure to meet you.

BUCK:

You're a photographer?

-I'm an artist.

-Well, what do you paint?

I'm a singer,

play guitar and sing.

Okay. Chicken and biscuits,

so let's get it

while it's still warm.

Everybody, sit down.

[chuckles]

Here we go.

There, Bill, you just

hand me your plate, there.

BILLY:

Oh, no, no, thank you.

-BUCK: What's wrong?

-Nothing, I'm fine.

Well, just give him

half a plate, mother.

-MARGARET: Yeah.

-Buck.

I'm, uh, vegetarian.

So's the chicken.

We have. We--

-We have options, right?

-We've got, uh

-You like salad.

-I love salad.

We got potato salad

or macaroni salad.

-Green salad.

-I love green salad.

Green salad would be great,

thank you.

You know, Buck,

I wanna tell you,

the way you've

orchestrated this farm,

I mean, the motif,

it's illuminating.

The what?

-The motif.

-Oh.

It's, uh, it's illuminating.

Is it?

Absolutely.

[chair scrapes floor]

I love it.

Glad you like it.

-Did IDid I say something?

-No, no, no, no.

[snoring lightly]

[grunting in distance]

[grunting continues]

[cat meows]

[grunting continues]

[grunting continues]

Good Lord.

Hi.

[g*nsh*t]

That's Jenny.

She's deciding

if she's gonna change

the course of her life.

You know, your--

your granddaughter's

she's really talented.

Yeah, I know that.

That's why she's gonna

take over the farm.

You do anything to hurt her,

and I will hunt you down

and I'll cut you like

a 10-pointer.

Great. Okay, well

Please thank Marge

for the hospitality,

and I hope y'all have

a beautiful Thanksgiving.

-[door shuts]

-Yeah.

RADIO ANNOUNCER:

We're on the hunt for some

local talent here,

ladies and gents.

No, I'm not talking football,

I'm talking open mic.

T.T. style, all right?

Love to have all you musicians

out there, old and new.

[rattling, radio announcer

continues indistinctly]

So, you know that guy

the other day?

BUCK: Roy Rogers.

["Silent Night"

playing on radio]

Uh, Billy, yeah, um

He's a smart

businessman and

honestly, an artist.

Oh, hell,

that guy's no artist.

He moves too fast

to experience anything.

You give me that rag

over there, would ya?

Yeah, I'm just saying that

it might be a viable option,

and maybe we need

to be more open-minded.

Uh-huh.

Well, I think we just keep

doing what we're doing.

Okay, Chuck,

you're all fixed up, boy.

Look, what the heck you

burning in there?

[laughs]

Never mind.

Anyway, you got

creosote buildup all over.

It's got a ton of it.

I'm gonna get a brush,

I'll come back and clean her

up for ya, all right?

Oh, no, no, no.

You keep your pennies, son.

Keep 'em.

CHUCK: Thanks, Buck.

BUCK: You know,

there's right and wrong ways

to make money, Jenny.

[indistinct conversations]

RADIO ANNOUNCER:

Well, folks, the Packers

will host

for a post-season this year.

All the bets

will be decided today.

And while there's still snow

on the frozen tundra

Hey! You're back!

How was your Christmas?

Not bad--how's making music

with Billy going?

Uh, it's fine.

So, um, where you gonna watch

the game on Sunday?

It depends. There's been

a lot more around here

to do lately.

RADIO ANNOUNCER: Welcome back

to "Telephone Time,"

sponsored by Gary's Rugs.

You'll always find Gary's

-BUCK: Here we go, come on.

laying down on the job.

-BUCK: Granny, come on!

-JENNY: Come on!

-MARGARET: I'm coming.

-JENNY: We're in a rush!

ANNOUNCER: This is it

for the Packers to stay alive.

The kick is up,

and it is good!

-JENNY: Yes! Yes! Yes!

-[crowd cheering on TV]

-Yeah! Oh, huh?

-Yes!

And the Packers are

in the NFC playoffs

for the first time since 1982.

-There we go.

-Yes, yes. Whoo!

-[telephone ringing]

-Man, what a--bah!

-What a special feeling.

-I gotta tell ya, folks

-Whoo!

Hello.

Oh, well,

just a minute, please.

well, that would be

a colossal understatement,

but this year,

I'll tell you something

-Hello?

-renewed hope in Green Bay.

[TV shuts off]

Uh, hey, uh

Yeah.

Uh [chuckles]

That--that--that would be

awesome, yes.

[chuckles] Yeah, yeah, I will

be there, thank you so much.

-Thank you so much.

-[receiver clatters]

[muffled voice] Oh, my God.

What do you think?

How about I write an album

about city love and

You guys can come with me

and

We can take fancy people

in fancy furs

down the streets

during Christmas.

How's that sound?

What is going on with her?

[sighs]

Well, you're no help,

you're egging her on,

you know.

Well, just because I don't

necessarily agree with you

doesn't mean I'm against you.

Oh, it's like I'm losing

Caroline all over again.

[sighs]

You know, it's funny,

how you think that only

happened to you.

Buck, you lost her

way before the accident,

and you're going to do

the same thing with Jenny

if you don't get your sh*t

together, you old codfish!

[footsteps depart]

[door slams]

PASTOR:

Let us pass the peace.

[lowered voice]

I heard about the things.

What things?

With Jerry, you know.

He told the coffee guys

down at Chewies,

something about a tie.

It was no tie.

I clearly won that round.

[laughs]

Look, if you guys need help

[indistinct conversations]

We're fine.

-PASTOR: Okay.

-All right?

Okay.

But I mean it, though,

and Mrs. Marge

will be cooped up with

choir practice all afternoon,

and Coonie's got a spot for me

down at Wally's place.

Why don't you two play hooky

and go tailgate my spot?

-Tell 'em drinks are on me.

-Come on, Buck.

Fields are stripped.

Let's take a break.

Take a break, things break.

Rest is a commandment, Buck.

ANNOUNCER: [on TV] Three games

away from the Super Bowl,

fans are tailgating

and watching the game

on the big screen TV.

-[fans chanting "Go, Pack!"

Well, the Packers defense

obviously gets the huge boost,

LeRoy Butler arguably

the premier defensive lineman

in the league, a certifiable

Hall of Famer of the future

Ice cold Porkslap in a bottle.

And a bargain at only $6.

I'd go easy

on the bargains, Wally.

JENNY: I gotta pee.

-Oh, fancy, they have heaters.

-Should we tell her

that steam's not coming

from any heater?

-No.

-You, uh, might wanna let

that one chill

for a little bit.

[laughs]

[laughter]

[Indistinct shouting]

[cheering]

ANNOUNCER: This blessed

season for Green Bay

has come down to this.

Packers on the drive, down 3.

I tell ya something, folks.

It doesn't get

much better than this.

This blessed season

for Green Bay

has come down to this.

Scrambles to his left,

buying time.

-[cheering]

-Come on!

Now he rainbows

deep down

the right sideline.

He's got Sterling Sharpe

in the end zone!

Touchdown!

The Packers have the lead.

A 40-yard bob,

Sharpe's third touchdown

of the day!

The Packers win!

The Packers win!

I gotta tell ya something,

folks.

This team is special.

There's something mystical

happening.

The stars appear to be aligned

for this squad

and the run they are on.

[chanting]

Go Packs, go Packs, go Packs!

We are cool about her, uh,

her opportunity.

What?

Jenny.

Jenny?

With that guy Bill.

Goadie says she has this

big meeting with his people.

She's going places, dude.

-Go, Pack, Go, Pack!

-[crowd] Go, Pack! Go, Pack!

GOADIE: So he was standing

there, with his mouth

hanging open

like a lake trout,

and I said, if they don't

have it, I don't need it.

[laughs]

GOADIE: Hey, you better gat

that ladder down

before it snows.

Oh, Muffles is gonna

freeze out here.

Oh, why don't you

corral the furball?

I'll get the ladder.

Oh.

Chicken crap.

[sighs] Well

GOEDIE: Muffles!

[cat meows]

Aah!

Sorry, sorry.

Sorry, sor--Jenny, Jenny.

-You gotta go.

-WALLY: Where's Buck?

-What?

-WALLY: You've gotta go.

[monitor beeping steadily]

So, Margaret has suffered

a severe head trauma.

We're monitoring her brain

for swelling

and internal bleeding,

but it's too early to know

much more right now.

I can't do this without you,

Margaret.

Come on.

[groaning]

[sighs deeply]

Why don't you

why don't you go do

the chores?

[steady beeping continues]

[sighs]

[rustling]

[switch clicks]

[bird cawing]

[cow moos]

[mooing continues]

[sighs]

Any news?

No.

-Is she okay?

-I don't know.

Pastor's wife dropped off

her lasagna last night.

Hmm.

Fridge can't even fit

any more casseroles.

I saw Buck loading

a wheelbarrow with something

out to feed Ditka

this morning.

Maybe I should check on him.

[snorting]

[barn door rolls open]

Hey.

At least Ditka

get some treats, huh?

[pigs snorting]

Are you gonna go

to the hospital this evening?

Why didn't you tell me?

What are you talking about?

I'm talking about

what Wally had to tell me,

which is your big meeting

in the city.

It's a short trip.

And I gotta try, I mean,

even if the Packers win,

we can use the money.

What about your grandma?

She would want me to go.

-Would she?

-She would.

Huh. Well, you seem pretty

sure of a lot of things.

It's called hope--something

I think we all could use

a little bit of right now.

Oh, you know what it sounds

like from where I'm standing?

It sounds like ambition to me.

You know, I've seen it

a million times.

You go chasing

your hopes and your dreams,

you go looking for that thing

that's gonna fill

the emptiness inside of you.

And pretty soon, you lose

all sense of rightness

and goodness.

And you forget who you are,

where you came from,

what you believe in.

And the worst part,

if you remember

and you can't make it back.

That's who we are, Jenny.

That's where we come from

and where it ends up.

And there is nothing

worth the cost,

losing everything

that's wild and free,

especially our farm.

It's your farm.

It's yours, too.

You know that

no one cares about

our little slice of nothing

in the middle of nowhere.

I do.

[dirt falls to ground]

I don't know why

we keep doing this!

BUCK:

Because it's the right thing!

You can't see that,

get the hell out.

And leave the keys

to the truck, I need it.

JENNY:

It all goes back to the earth.

So, I do not desire

pride of excess or power

but the contentments

made by men who've had little.

I lack the peace

of simple things.

I am never wholly in place.

I find no peace

or grace.

[grunting]

[sighs]

[exhales deeply]

[paper rustling]

ANNOUNCER: [on TV] Welcome,

folks, to the big show,

home of the world champion

and top seed, Dallas Cowboys,

against the young

Green Bay Packers,

who feel like

they bring destiny

to this NFC Divisional

[exhales deeply]

BUCK: I know, I know.

You're busy and everything,

I guess.

I know folks got problems.

I know that.

On the off chance

you're not doing anything,

just kind of maybe pitch in

and help a little?

[birds squawking]

It's so pretty, isn't it?

I know you like it, too.

You must.

I don't want to lose that.

I don't wanna lose them,

you know?

I just need your help,

I think.

ANNOUNCER: We're getting

set to kick off here shortly.

[crowd cheering]

[guitar strumming]

MAN: All right, here we go.

[speaks indistinctly]

These same rounds of rain

We go back to

[guitar continues playing]

Looking for answers

Can't find my way

in the dark

[knock on door]

WOMAN: Hold on one sec.

Bet you're Jenny.

Glad you could make it.

Hi. Hello.

-[door closes]

-That EP of yours is great.

Heard you recorded it

in a barn?

[exhales deeply]

Yes, thank you.

Um, yeah, I mean,

I'm no engineer. This

This all looks like

a spaceship to me but--

-Jenny, Jenny, hi.

-Oh.

Guysthis is Jenny.

This is Rick, Stevie.

-What'd I tell ya?

-Honor to be here.

[sighs] How's the farm?

Um

Uh, it's--it's been

a crazy week, yeah.

My gran--

Our Grand Marge is a--

Margaret,

an absolute sweetheart.

How she doing?

-Um, she had a fall, so--

-Oh, no, I'm sorry.

-Yeah.

-It's a wild place up there.

Lousy place to get hurt,

that's for sure.

Um

just, I'm really happy

you're here.

All right.

RICK: So, Jenny, we wanna

show you something.

Uh, well, okay, um

So, me and Billy were talking,

and he's so inspired

by your work,

we were thinking,

well, listen.

BILLY: All things grow

In the rainbow glow

Though the wild wind blows

Um, what is this?

-All things go

-[tape stops]

Wellwhat do you think?

Jenny, I wanna--

I wanna use your music.

You--you have--

you have such--

such an authentic voice

and your writing,

as a lyricist.

And I think if I combine that

with where I'm at right now,

my performance

and my following, I mean,

it could be expl*sive, really.

Oh.

RICK: It's a huge opportunity,

especially with

an up-and-comer like Billy.

I mean, what do you think?

I mean, you didn't even--

you didn't even ask.

[sniffles] Um

Surprise.

I think it might be

too precious.

What is? What's too precious?

All of it.

My, uh [sniffles]

My

family, my music, the farm.

[sniffles, exhales deeply]

RICK: I mean,

we've put tons of thought

and energy into this.

I mean, you're just some

nobody from the middle

of nowhere.

-Nowhere, yeah.

Yeah.

It's somewhere to us.

Jenny.

Jenny.

Sit--Sit down for a minute.

I'm gonna try

to catch the game.

Jenny, come on.

ANNOUNCER:

30-yard field goal attempt.

Here's the snap.

He swipes the upright,

and the Packers jump out

to an early 3-nothing lead

over the Cowboys.

Let's go!

-[engine idling, gears shift]

-AARON: Need a ride?

Huh.

Where's Skye?

I told him I wanted to come.

Well, sorry nothing

worked out for ya.

Yeah, I never should've

trusted a guy

who was staying at a lake but

too busy to fish. [sniffles]

You didn't even

tell me you were leaving.

I'm sorry.

For everything.

Oh, that's okay.

You comin' or what?

It's freezing out here.

Yeah, it is.

What's the score?

-Whoo!

-Just kicked off.

ANNOUNCER:

early in the third quarter,

and here's Favre,

drops back to throw again.

Looks to the middle. He fires.

Robert Brooks,

diving fingertip grab

for a touchdown!

-Let's go! Let's go!

-Yes! Yes!

AARON: Whoo!

still down, but not out.

And stranger things

have happened

on a Sunday afternoon

in the playoffs.

Here's Aikman,

back to throw,

lobs it over to the left side

of the end zone,

Michael Irvin,

an over the shoulder catch,

touchdown Dallas.

And the Cowboys take

a commanding 24 to 10 lead.

Field goal try for

Cowboys kicker, Eddie Murray,

and here's the kick.

[crowd shouting]

It is good from 38 yards,

extending the Dallas lead

27 to 10.

-[Jenny praying softly]

-Man, Packers will need

a minor miracle

to pull this one out.

Time winding down

on the clock.

It is 4th and 6,

and here's Favre.

Here's the snap.

Favre, in desperation mode,

looks for Sharpe.

He's hit and intercepted.

My goodness.

His prayer and the prayers

of the entire Packers nation

go unanswered.

Gosh, this one hurts.

They fought hard

but just came up

a little short.

Well, that'll do it,

and, folks,

what a pleasure it has been

for us to bring you

this season

on the Packers Radio Network.

What a year it's been,

but this is just the start.

Can't wait till next year.

[mooing]

[muffled] Buck, Buck,

would you talk to me?

Please?

There's other things

that we can do.

You know, I, um

[sighs deeply] I'm sorry.

[sniffles] I'm sorry.

[sighs deeply]

[softly] Grandpa.

[cows mooing]

[alarm clock beeping]

[birds chirping]

[beeping continues]

[mooing]

[breathing heavily]

Buck!

[sighs]

Morning, you sleepyhead.

[sniffles]

I was wondering when

you'd wake up. [chuckles]

-[monitor beeping]

-[door closes]

Scottie.

What are you doing here?

Uh, just bringing

my girlfriend some flowers.

Mm! [chuckles]

[sighs deeply]

Do you think that God cares

about all the things

that we try to do?

Like

Just normal things.

Like--Like the Packers?

Yeah. [chuckles]

Well, maybe not more

than the Bears,

as much as it's

paining me to say that, but

Uh, I--

I-I know I'm always joking

about, you know,

you and Buck on the farm,

but there's a holiness

about how you guys

care for things.

RADIO ANNOUNCER:

All right, we're gonna be

opening back up the lines

for a special guest

as we lick our wounds

from this past season.

I'm talking open mic,

"T.T." style,

ladies and gentlemen.

We'd love to have all

you musicians out there,

old and new,

bring in your skills.

What do you got to say?

"Telephone Time" is your time,

I'm not lying.

Of course.

Hey, Buck.

Hi, um,

this is Jenny Strom.

BUCK: Keep going. Oh, whoa.

[chains rattling]

-Hey.

-Not a word, Jerry.

Okay, boy, yep.

Let's go. [clicks tongue]

Yeah.

Yeah, Get up.

[whistles] Up.

[clicking tongue]

Come on.

Good boy, good boy.

Whoa. Whoa.

[engine idling]

[chains rattling]

JENNY: I'm convinced

the world's maintained

by the quiet work

of unnoticed,

faithful people who choose

to do the right thing.

I think the world's

full of 'em.

But the right thing mostly

never makes a lot of money

or wins the trophy.

In real life

miracles don't always

arrive on time.

Good guy doesn't always win.

And

you don't always get

to keep your farm.

And that's okay.

But my grandpa,

though he knows

nothing about music,

taught me harmony,

balance, and cost,

from owls and cows and mice

and swallows in the rafters,

even the Packers

and the Bears,

how it all works together.

[clears throat]

Um, should I

should I start playing?

Yeah, you know,

we've actually been rolling,

so whenever you're ready.

Okay.

[piano playing]

The stories lived

In the barns we build

Or did life fade out

Through the windowsills?

When the voices fade

When the morning breaks

Even when we lose

And easily begin

Will they remind

Me

Remind

Me

Will they remind

Me

How I was helped

All along

[piano continues playing]

[birds squawking]

They remind

Me

Remind

Me

They remind

Me

How I was helped

All along

All along

How I was helped

All along

[music ends]

[sniffles] Well, folks, I, uh,

think we all have

a little bit of wind

in our eyes, here,

so, uh, yeah.

Good.

Well, uh, hey,

I think Margaret

would want us to say grace.

[Jenny sighs]

Um

Yeah.

Lord, please,

take care of Margaret

and bring her back home.

And, uh, you know

Thank you.

Amen.

JENNY: Amen.

[sighs]

[utensils clanking]

[crunching]

[vehicle approaching]

[engine revving]

Jerry?

I don't know.

I don't know

how this works.

-I'll go check.

-Yeah.

[g*nsh*t, crackling]

[birds squawking]

You played beautifully,

Jenny.

Just like your mother.

I'm proud of you.

Who's gonna fix it?

Oh, hell,

that's Jerry's problem now.

[door closes]

[scoffs]

[vehicle approaching]

MAN: Hey, I heard you

on "T.T." this morning.

Thought this could help.

-Go, Pack.

-Thank you.

Buck. [panting]

Look.

[both gasp]

[vehicle approaches]

[horn honks]

JENNY:

We hold the hands

That hold our road

We reap the seeds

That we have sown

We blow the way

The wind has blown

We are the flowers that

Heard you on the radio.

I hope this helps you out.

Go, Packers.

but not alone

We are the balm

I hope this helps.

JENNY:

Thank you so much.

MAN: Go, Packs!

JENNY: I don't know if God

loves the Green Bay Packers.

But it felt like He dressed

in green and gold that day.

And for a moment,

it seemed

our whole world joined

a communal sense of awe

to smell the richness

of the soil

and hear the whispered name

of every living thing.

It's never what you

think initially

that ends up

mattering the most.

'cause even

for a platinum record

or a big corner office,

I'd now never miss the chance

to see the tundra thaw,

the sap run,

and see spring come alive

on this little chunk of dirt.

I hope one day my children

get to run through these

wild fields, wild.

How I was not

All alone

[monitor beeping steadily]

[birds chirping]

Go, Pack.

JENNY: [softly]

One, two, three, four.

A shot in the dark

Cannot tell our destiny

Or change my course

More than the songs

that we sing

But the day

can surprise you

Like a turn in a stream

Or a neighbor who shows up

without asking

The silence

of the morning

Gives strength

for the day

And the light of that barn

How it colors the way

I see my hands

in my work

Way out there

in the world

I hear you say

Leave it a little better

I hear you say

You gotta leave it

a little better

And all I've got

Is all that I need

The gold in the field

And the green

beneath my feet

In the hands

of the earth

When I was

too broken to see

Holding the earth

Holding me together

It's never what you think

That ends up

mattering the most

And the goal is better

Than what you carry home

Whatever warm calm growing

Right outside your door

And the ledge

Was it clay

Right behind you

And all we've got

Is all that we need

The gold in the fields

And the green

beneath our feet

And the hands

that were there

Through the struggle

we'll see

Holding us up

Holding together

Holding us all

Holding together

The grace of the river

And the cleansing

of the rain

The shimmer of the weed

When the summer

starts to wane

The beauty of the earth

Is in the love

she gave for you to tend

We're not here for taking

We're here to tend

We're not here

for taking

We're here to tend

We're not here

for taking

And all we got

Is all that we need

The gold in the fields

And the green

beneath our feet

And the hands

that held us

Even when

we couldn't see

Holding us up

Holding together

Holding us up

Holding together

[song ends]
