[bell ringing]

-Jeanette, we don't want to be late.
-For what? Where are you going?

Oh, we signed up
for an extra credit science class.

It's called The Circle of Life.

You signed up for that?
I mean, voluntarily?

-Yes, we did.
-I mean, no one pressured you?

[both] No.

Just because school's over...

Jeanette, don't bother, OK?

-But if I...
-Nope, save your breath.

Welcome to the first day of class.

I hope you're excited
to learn about our ecosystem

-and how we're all...
-My mom's making me take this.

Well, there's a lot of...

I got a D in math class.

She always told me if I got a D, I'd have
to do extra credit in another class,

and I was like, "Mom,
I don't remember you saying that."

Anyway, long story short,
I lost that fight.

-Sorry, you were saying something?
-No one cares, Chester.

My dad's making me take this class
and it's such a waste of my time.

Well, I'm glad you're all here
and hopefully you'll find it interesting.

These assignments require partners,

so I'll be pairing a few of you up.

I'm not gonna be a good lab partner
because I don't like Science.

Nor do I, but you don't hear me
whining incessantly about it.

[Cheesy] You were complaining

That was not whining! I was explaining.

-[both yelling]
-[teacher] Quiet!

Now, there's several different options
to choose from...

I can't believe I'm stuck with Bocarter
as my partner.

Oh, that is a tough break.

But I'm impressed
you volunteered to take Eggbert.

Will Brittany be OK with a snake?

She won't have to be,
because I'm taking the snake home.

Thanks, partner!

-What's this?
-Eggbert's food.

My mum won't have a mouse in the house.

[owl hooting]

[screaming]

There's a mouse!
There's a mouse in here!

Brittany, you're scaring it.

It's OK, it's OK.

Come on, come on.

Agh! Get it out! Get it out!

It's OK, Brit. This is Pippi.

She's part of my science class.

How did you get out of your box,
you clever girl?

[laughs] There you go!

Oh, you guys,
look at her cute little hands!

Oh, yeah.

She's actually pretty cute.

You named it Pippi?

Hello, my little friend.

Maybe, maybe it was a mistake
to name her.

Why?

-You gotta feed her to a snake on Monday?
-Yeah, that.

What?

You're supposed to feed
this adorable little thing to a snake?

Can we please not talk about it?

-Don't even look at it.
-Then just tell me what's in the box.

I told you already,
you don't want to know.

And I told you already,
that only makes me want to know more.

-Can I peek?
-No.

-I'm not afraid of snakes.
-It's not a snake, OK?

Now look, I have to go downstairs,

but I'm saying this for your own good.

I get it. I won't open the box.
I won't even look at the box.

-What if I just smell the box?
-No.

OK, fine.

Hmm. Don't see anything.

There's nothing in here, but...

[screaming] No, no!
Get this thing off of me!

[Alvin screaming upstairs]

He opened the box.

-Alvin?
-In here!

Where's the tarantula?

"Where's the tarantula?"
Is that all you can say?

How about, "Are you OK, Alvin?"

Where's the tarantula?

I don't know! I don't know.

You know, somewhere nearby.
Waiting to strike again!

[sighs]

Now where could he be?

[Jeanette] You think this is a good idea?

You mean, on account
of her being snake food on Monday?

Yeah.

[all sobbing]

I can't... I can't do it. It's not right.

It's Bocarter.

-You've got to keep a lookout!
-What? No!

Dave, you're the parent.

You've got to protect your child.

Simon said it wasn't poisonous.

How does he know that?
He doesn't know that.

Did he check the spider's poison sack

No, Dave, he didn't.

you've got attached to snake food.

-[Simon] Hello? Let us out!
-[Jeanette] Help! Let us out!

We have to pick the lock.

-Do you have a paperclip?
-I might.

So iguanas like to eat ferns.

Yeah, so when I took this iguana home

my mom had this favorite plant
that I guess cost a fortune,

and this guy here had it in his mouth

and when I tried to take it away from him
we ended up in this fight,

he bit me, I might have said

I think this is the first number.
But I'm not sure.

Jeanette, this isn't working.

Let's try to break it open.

This is a Bobbit worm.

[all] Ooh!

[crashing]

So, what I have here

[crashing]

Come on!

So now, we will all witness
how a snake eats its prey.

Alright, come on, come on.

[screaming]

[Bocarter] I've got it on me!

[screaming]

[teacher] Will you calm down,
please? It's not poisonous.

I will get you for this!

He must have climbed into Pippi's box.

I was about to feed the snake...

-[Cheesy] I fed him.
-[all] What?

Well, yeah,

You were running around like a crazy man.

And the mouse looked scared,
so I wanted to get it over with.

It's no big deal. Look, he's happy.
The snake's happy.

Class dismissed. I'll see you next week.

How could you, Cheesy?

I'm going to get you for this.
I was supposed to feed him!

I just did what was gonna be done anyway,
so what's the big deal?

[sobbing]

-Jeanette!
-Go away, Cheesy!

I never want to speak to you again.

OK, 's fine.
But at least take your mouse back.

What?

Pippi!

How did you do this?

No one was looking,

so I took the phony baked thing
that was supposed to look like a mouse

and fed it to the snake.

It looks the same
once he's eaten it.

See? Now everyone's happy.

I'm so happy you're OK!

[Alvin] Listen up, pal,

my advice is to get out of here
before one of us gets hurt.

Alvin, I already told you. He's safe

-He's not here!
-How am I supposed to believe that?

-And he was also...
-Alvin!

spin cycle!

I'll be able to study

the mysterious elements
of the universe so that,

-you know, one day...
-Please, now.

I'm not interested in that.
I have real problems here.

My Mach 7 game console
is broken. Again!

Again? What did you do?

Nothing, OK?

I mean, all I was doing was
playing Dungeon Master

and minding my own business,
and bam! Everything froze.

So, I just need you to fix it,
OK? That's all.

Just... come on!
Right now. Let's go do it!

I don't have the time.

It'll take you like
two seconds and then, you know,

you can get back to, you know,
your... your particle-y thing.

Ugh! Fine.

-Did you check the connections?
-Yes, I checked.

-Because sometimes you don't.
-Simon, I checked them.

-Hmm.
-There! You see? You see?

I told you!
The picture... it's all wonky.

You banged it.
Right? You banged it?

Please! That's crazy!
I never, in my whole life...

-What did he do?
-He banged it.

-Traitor!
-Hey!

Whoa! What... what was that?

No, no, no! It took me an hour
to get to that level!

And now
I have to start all over!

You... stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
I hate you!

Stop it!
That's only gonna make it worse!

You fix things your way
and I'll fix things my way!

-No!

-No! No! No!
-Give it to me!

-Guys!
-I won't let you abuse it!

Ha, ha! Oh, no!

-[gasp]
-Oh, no!

I... I didn't mean to!
I didn't...

Alvin! What did you do?
You are so...

Guys? Guys? What just happened?

-Hmm.
-Hmm, what?

-What? Spit it out!
-OK. All right.

You know that experiment
I was working on in the basement?

Well, I may...
may have created a time loop.

-English, Simon! English!
-Time loop! Time loop!

Approximately 53 seconds
by my account.

Simon,
what are you talking about?

The TV was all busted,
glass everywhere, and now it's...

That's perfect!
That's the perfect test!

Test? What kind of...?

Aaah!
Simon, have you lost your mind?

No, no. Now, if my calculations
are correct...

There it is!
Just as I thought! A time loop!

Oh! A time loop.

OK. Hold... Hold on.

You're saying that we're gonna
relive the next 53 seconds?

You know, again and again and...
For how long?

I don't know exactly,
but, if I had to guess,

I would say, well...

maybe... forever.

OK, hold on!
This? This is our lives?

For, you know,
these stupid 53 seconds?

This?
We're gonna be stuck in... this?

Yep. That's pretty much it.

What?

I can't... can't believe it.
I can't believe it.

Why couldn't I be trapped
doing something cool,

like, you know,
speeding around in a car

or jumping out of an airplane
or... or anything else?

Hold on. Where are you going?

Well, Dave just brought home
a chocolate cake.

That means I can eat as much
as I want and every 53 seconds,

I get a new one!
Oh! How awesome is that?

Aaah!

Theodore, are you OK?
What happened?

I... I don't know.
This... this is so weird!

Oh, no!

-Ow!
-Sorry!

Aaah!

Oh, no! I can't believe it!

The particle accelerator
must have created gravitational zones!

Oh, no!
This... this could be bad.

Wait. What do you mean, bad?
I mean, it can't be worse

than reliving the same, stupid,
boring 53 seconds of your life

for all of eternity?

Yeah. Yeah. It sort of can be.

OK. Define "sort of".

Well, um, you know,
so the gravitational zones will,

you know, probably open a rip
in the fabric of the universe.

Actually,
it... it definitely will.

OK, and we don't like that,
right? I mean, that's bad?

Well, yes.

But... but it should be just a small rip.

About the size of a...
of a penny.

Oh! Great! OK! All right!

So, finally
we've got some good news!

I tell you, I mean,
the way you made it sound,

I thought
the whole world was doomed!

No, no, no. Just half of it.

Wait. I... just... How... What?

Well, I mean,
better than the whole thing.

But, having said that,

there is one other really bad thing
that could happen.

OK, no! Stop, right now!

I don't wanna hear
any more bad news.

I get it. OK.

And, you know,
it may not even be an issue.

[anxious voice] Oh...
What... what are we gonna do?

Well, all we need to do is

navigate the gravity fields
to get to the basement

and unplug the washing machine.

But we have to do it
within 53 seconds.

And... and that's doable?

Well, I hope so.

[Chipmunk song playing]

Come on! We've almost got it!

Oh! Almost there!

Oh, wait.
The gravity seems fine in here.

Quick! Quick! Let's unplug
the washing machine.

Uh... who are those guys?

OK, so, that was the other
really bad thing

I was saying could happen.

So... so who were those guys,
Simon?

I'm afraid those are
the anti-matter versions of us.

Anti-matter?

Yes. Their existence depends
on the particle accelerator.

So,

I don't think they're gonna let us
just walk in and pull the plug.

You know what?
They don't look so tough.

I say we can take 'em.

No. No. That is not a good idea.

If they just barely touch you,
they'll neutralise you!

Which means?

If one of those guys touches Theodore,
for instance,

Theodore Seville
will have never existed!

Dave will only have two sons.

Every trace that Theodore
ever existed will suddenly vanish.

Oh!
I... I don't want to not exist.

OK, guys,
come on, we can do this.

Simon, you and I will distract them
and, Theodore,

you'll sneak around and unplug
the washing machine. Got it?

Yeah. I... I guess.

But wait.
How are we gonna distract them?

Pretty hard to not be distracted

when you've got ping-pong ba*ls
coming at ya.

Oh! Alvin! OK! OK!
You've proved your point!

OK, everyone ready?

Five seconds until we reset.

Four, three, two, one...

Let's go!

OK, let's do it!

[battle cry]

Take that,
you anti-matter freaks!

Twenty seconds!

Alvin! Theodore's in trouble!

Aaah! Help!

Hey! Hey, you! Over here!

Ten seconds!

Five seconds!

It's not coming!

Pull harder!

-[Simon] Two!

Yes! Yes! We did it!

[sigh of relief]

I hope you learned your lesson.

tinkering with the building blocks
of the universe

might not be such a good idea.

But, you know, really,
when you think about it,

what harm was done?
