Hey, what you got there, Simon?

Oh! It's my microscope, Dave.

Today, we're bringing an object to class

that says something about who we are.

Oh!
What are you bringing, Alvin?

Oh, me? Uh... my shirt.

Your shirt?

The shirt you're wearing?

Dave, come on.
What says more about me than my shirt?

My initial? Check.

Favourite colours? Check.

Cool like me? Check. And...

And you're gonna fail the assignment.

Alvin, go upstairs and find
something other than that shirt.

All right.

[muttering]
I can't believe I've got to go

and get something else.

Oh, Alvin,
what did you decide to bring?

Ugh! My pyjamas.
I hope that meets with your approval.

Oh, come on! I told you to...

Dave, come on, I was just
following your instructions.

You said, bring something
other than my shirt!

Oh, that doesn't mean your pyjamas!

Ugh! Then what did you mean?
I'm not a mind-reader, Dave!

I meant...
You know, just never mind.

Um, Theodore, what did you bring?

I... I'd rather not say.

-Bye, Dave.
-Bye, Theodore.

Whoa!

[Teddy] Can I have a hug?

[gasps]

Talking Teddy?

You... you brought Talking Teddy
to share with the whole class?

Yes, Alvin, because Teddy
reminds me to be kind to others,

and, well, I want to share that
with the class.

Well, you can start by being kind to me

and not sharing him with the class!

-Why?
-Come on, you know why!

Because it's humiliating!

Here, come on, give me the bear!

[sighs]

And, as the old saying goes,

"Pyjama bottoms reveal a lot
about their owner."

No, that's not a saying.

Does anyone else have
pyjama bottoms to share?

Because if so, don't bother.

Good. Theodore, you're up.

OK, so, uh...

The thing that says most
about me is Alvin's pyjama top.

Oh! Ugh...

[school bell rings]

Why is Miss Smith having me
and Theodore redo the assignment?

That is so unfair!

Where are you going, Theodore?

To... to get Talking Teddy.
Alvin left him in the bushes.

-Teddy!
-Here you go.

Thanks, Anita!

I don't think he liked
being in the bushes.

He doesn't. But... Well...

Alvin thinks he's embarrassing

and... and doesn't want me
bringing him to school.

I may have an idea
that could change his mind.

[Alvin] Sorry you have
to redo the assignment,

but one day you will thank me.

Teddy, will I thank him one day?

What? No?

What? All of a sudden Talking Teddy
has psychic powers?

Yes, Alvin.
He tells me all kinds of things.

Oh, uh-huh, uh-huh. Like what?

What? Oh, OK.

Anita is going to call at four o'clock

and ask Simon
about a homework assignment?

Oh, right, Anita.

The coolest girl in school
is gonna call Simon.

Oh, please!

The crowd is absolutely hushed

as Alvin prepares for a shot
over the driveway

that perhaps only he can pull off.

Hey, Simon! There's a girl
named Anita on the phone for you.

-Something about homework?
-[Alvin] What?

What time is it?

Four o'clock.

[gasps]

[Theodore] You're funny, Teddy.

Hey, Teddy. Hey, Teddy.
Hey, how are you doing?

Good to see you. Theodore,
Theodore, now this is important.

How exactly can you hear
what Teddy is saying?

Teddy's very special, Alvin,
and we're very close.

So, when you're close to Teddy,
well, he... he tells you things.

Ask if Anita will have lunch with me!

Oh, OK. Uh, well, he says

she likes avocado,
cabbage and jam sandwiches.

Theodore, if I offered her that,
she'd throw it in my face!

-And I wouldn't blame her!
-That's what Teddy says.

All right, well, Teddy's
not as psychic as I thought.

[school bell rings]

Oh! Oh, Anita.
You mind if I sit here?

No. I was just leaving.
I forgot my lunch.

Well, today is your lucky day.

Because I happen to have
a delicious peanut-butter

-and banana sandwich that will...
-No, thanks.

I'm in the mood for an avocado sandwich
with... cabbage and... jam.

"And they lived happily ever after."

Teddy, Teddy, did... did you like that?

What... What...
Talk to me, Teddy, please.

Did you like the story?

So? Is he speaking to you?

I... I think so.
I... I think he liked the story.

Oh, not... not so much?

Oh, all right.
Well, what would he like?

He says he wants
to go to school with you.

Um, fine. OK.
Theodore, that's fine.

Just, you know, ask him about Anita.

Yeah, he says she'll be wearing
a pink plaid skirt tomorrow

with... with just a touch of blue.

So... so bring a light pink
flower for her hair.

Oh! Thank you, Teddy! Thank you!

Theodore, anything else?

Anything else, Teddy?

He says you have to do
five kind things a day.

All right. Ted, come on.
Tonight we'll get a good night's sleep

and in the morning, I'm going
to show you all around school.

[Chipmunk song playing]

Teddy, Teddy, um...
if I ask Anita to the movies,

do you think she would say yes?

Anita, if Alvin asks you
to the movies...

[Alvin] Oh! Theodore! Theodore!
So glad you're here.

I asked Teddy if Anita
will go to the movies with me.

-What did he say?
-I can't hear him yet.

I stick him up to my ear,
I say very nice things to him.

Nothing! I mean,
I can't get a word out of him.

Um, would you mind asking him?

Yeah. He said yes. She will.

Yes!

[Derek] Hey, Anita.
Want to go to the movies this weekend?

Oh, thanks, but Alvin already asked me.

You're going with Alvin?

I mean, the guy walks around
with a teddy bear!

I know. It's so sweet!

[Alvin] Ow!

What did you do that for?

I just wanted to stop you

-What?
-Yeah, Anita just told me

Turns out Anita thinks

-Who... who told you that?
-Derek!

And... and you left Teddy?

Oh, Theodore, look,
Teddy's going to be fine, OK?

Just think of it as, like,
an evening of hibernation.

You know?
Bears do it all the time.

Oh...

-What?
-We have to find Teddy.

Oh...

[Alvin] Teddy! Teddy!

Oh, where could he be?

I don't know, but we've looked
everywhere and he's not here!

Let's go.

[Miss Smith] All right, Alvin, you're up.

Did you bring an item that says
the most about you this time?

Because it better not be your socks.

I don't have the item
that says the most about me,

because I lost him and that,
actually, says a lot about me.

Now, I know this may come
as a surprise to everyone, but,

well, I can be very shallow
and self-centred.

[Miss Smith] Really?

I never would have guessed.
What was the item?

A bear.

Oh, that's right. To be honest,

I was surprised
to see you with a teddy bear.

Oh, Miss Smith, Miss Smith.

Look, here's what
you don't understand, OK?

Teddy's not a normal bear.
He has psychic powers, OK?

And, you know, he tells ya stuff
like... like what girls like.

What? Excuse me?

Oh, um... Alvin?
I, um... I made that stuff up.

Oh, really? Then how did
you know everything about...

You know who?

I was in on it. Sorry, Theodore.

I... I didn't know
it would end up this way.

I'm really sorry
you lost the bear, Theodore.

And, Alvin, you were really nice
when he was with you.

It was, like, weird and awesome.

That's because one of Teddy's rules

is that you do five kind things a day.

Oh, well, that's a good thing!

Does nobody realise how lame
this bear is?

Another rule of Teddy's
is that you accept people

for their differences
and you don't judge!

Maybe we can find him
if we all commit to a six-mile radius

and get some news coverage.

Oh! Has anyone called
the FBI's Missing Persons?

[hubbub]

All right! Quiet!

Has anyone checked
the Lost and Found?

Teddy!

[cheering]

So, Alvin, you want to go to the movies?

Oh, yes! Please!

-Should we invite Teddy?
-Of course! Totally fine with me!

Teddy, you wanna go to the movies?

He says he'd love to!

Ha, ha, ha! That's funny!

I can't believe it!

Aaah!

[humming] Huh?

[gasps] It's alive!

Ugh! Theodore, is that you?

A... Alvin? What are you doing?

-What do you think I'm doing?
-Um... playing with a box?

No, Theodore. I'm not...

I'm not playing.
I'm folding boxes for recycling.

This is Dave's idea
of a fun Saturday afternoon.

Chores!

Oh, yeah.

I... I finished mine. Bye!

Oh, Theodore, Theodore... Sorry.

Um, how would you like to help me?

Uh... Dave said
we should each do our own chores

and Simon said,

"Theodore, stay away from Alvin!"

Oh! You trust them over me?

OK. OK. Don't answer that.

You know what?
That's totally fine.

Let me just make a little note.

"You are not
in the holiday spirit of giving."

Ooh, that's gonna be bad for you.

What? What do you mean?

Oh, come on Theodore.

Don't tell me you don't know
that, you know, uh...

Snailapalooza is tomorrow.

What's Snailapalooza?

Oh, it's only like the greatest,
most amazing holiday ever!

I mean, songs, gifts, treats.

Oh, it's way better than Christmas!

What? But...
why haven't we ever celebrated it before?

Oh, well, you know because, um,

Walter, you know, the Glorious Snail?

He only visits kids

who have been really helpful
to their brothers.

But, you know, I'll bet you
if you helped me with my chores,

-Walter would come tomorrow!
-Really?

With... with gifts and treats?

-h*, h*! Absolutely!
-Oh!

Simon, did you know
about Walter the Glorious Snail?

He... he brings presents
for Snailapalooza!

Oh, Theodore!

What did I tell you
about listening to Alvin?

Uh... not to?

Exactly.

And that's exactly the kind of attitude

that's gonna leave Simon present-less.

Yeah. Big time.

[Alvin] Chop-chop, Theodore.

[Dave] OK, why is Theodore
doing Alvin's chores?

Alvin told him about
some snail holiday or something

to convince him to do his work.

Oh, seriously?

[loud music]

You told him what?

Dave, come on! It's not a big deal.

You should see how excited Theodore is!

I don't care, Alvin.
You can't make up a holiday

to trick Theodore into doing your work!

What's gonna happen
when Theodore wakes up

and sees that this slug
hasn't delivered presents?

Oh, Dave, Dave, not a slug.
It's a snail.

Not the point! You're gonna make
this fake holiday a reality.

Dave, Dave, no, no.

That would mean I'd have
to decorate the whole house

and... and bake stuff and buy presents!

And... and whatever else
that stupid slug does!

You should've thought of that
before making up this story

about a snail.

[Alvin] And that's why working together
to make this

the most magical moment
for Theodore makes total sense.

OK, that's ten minutes
I'm never getting back.

Yeah, sorry. Not interested.

What? Where's your holiday spirit?

It shows up at the real holidays.

[Jeanette] Do you ever wonder
how holidays start anyway?

Oh, oh, Jeanette!

This is the perfect opportunity
to find out!

Hmm. So you're saying Snailapalooza

celebrates those who are...
who are kind and generous?

Yes! Yes! Isn't that worthwhile?

And the, uh, holiday symbol is a snail?

-We can change that.
-Oh, no! No, no.

Snails haven't gotten
enough praise or credit.

They're fascinating.

Now, what does
this Glorious Snail look like?

[Alvin] Oh! Well, I'm thinking
he should be a giant snail.

You know, almost scary.

[Jeanette] Eh, nah. I don't like that.

Um... I see him as sweet
and tender and cute

with these big round eyes.

[Alvin] Oh, come on. How's he supposed
to scare the bad children away?

-[Jeanette] Why would he do that?
-[Alvin] Why would he do that?

Because they're bad
and he likes to kick butt!

h*, h*! And then he shoves them
in his shell for punishment!

[Jeanette] Yeah, no. I think we should...

we should focus on the kindness
and generous part.

[Alvin] Fine.

I present to you our holiday bylaws!

Everything you need to know
about Snailapalooza.

Oh, Jeanette, you are so
in the spirit of Snailapalooza,

-I want you to just go for it!
-Go for what?

You... you know. Go all out!

Decorate the house,
bake the cookies.

I mean, you know, do it all!
Theodore's gonna love it!

You... you're not going to help?

No. You've got this!

Ugh! You know what, Alvin?

If this Walter the Snail guy
was... was for real,

he... he would stuff you in his shell
for... for being so selfish!

[snoring]

Hello.

Oh, hello, Mr Snail.

Aaah!

Simon! Theodore! Wake up!

They can't hear you, Alvin.

Who... who... who are you?

What do you want?

Why, Alvin, don't you know me?

I'm Walter the Glorious Snail

here to bring you good cheer
for Snailapalooza!

No, no! I made up Snailapalooza
so Theodore could do my chores!

And that's exactly why I'm here.

Your selfishness is setting
a terrible example

for Theodore
that could affect his entire life.

I... I don't believe you.

Hop on my back
and let me show you.

Unless you're... afraid.

No!

This is Snailapalooza present,
this very morning.

Oh, wake up everyone!
It's Snailapalooza!

Where... where are the decorations?

And... and the treats?

Didn't... didn't Walter come by?

Oh...

I... I guess I was...
I was bad this year.

Theodore!

I'm so sorry!
Walter, Walter, tell him I'm sorry!

He can't hear us either, Alvin.

But look how sad he is.
Poor Theodore.

-Now where are we going?
-To Snailapalooza future!

What happened?

Alvin was playing ball in the house

and he broke the window.

-What? Where is he?
-He... he ran upstairs.

Alvin!

Theodore,
you have to take responsibility

for your own misconduct.

Simon, I'm a bad kid.

Bad kids do bad things.

No, you're not bad.

Oh, yeah?
Tell that to Walter the Glorious Snail.

-[humming]
-[Dave] He wasn't upstairs.

Wait. Wait. What happened here?

Alvin threw his skateboard at the TV.

Alvin!

Theodore used to be so sweet!

Those days are long gone, Alvin.

Ah! Now where?

To the land of Snailapalooza.

-Oh!
-In Snailapalooza,

children can eat as much
ice cream and candy as they want

-and never get sick.
-[gasps] Cool!

In Snailapalooza,

all you have to do
is think of your favourite toy

and it appears right before your eyes.

[gasps] Oh!

In Snailapalooza,
rides and amusement parks

are open 24 hours a day.

Oh, this is the best holiday ever!

-Is this for real?
-[dramatic music]

No, it's not real!

But you got me all excited!

That's exactly what you did to Theodore.

Now, get in my shell!

[Alvin] No!

I'm sorry!

Alvin, are you having a bad dream?

Oh, Theodore, do you still like me?

Of course I do. I love you!

Oh, good, good!
There's still time.

-Are you sure you're OK?
-Oh, absolutely, absolutely.

OK, so back to sleep.
Back to sleep.

But... I'm not that tired.

[Chipmunks song playing]

Alvin! Alvin, wake up!
It's Snailapalooza!

Oh, yeah, yeah. Sure... sure is.

And because Walter's so cool,
