Cattle rancher King usually captured criminals and spies and found lost hikers, though he did so with the use of his airplane, the Songbird.

03x03 - Note for a Dam

Post by bunniefuu »

Out of the clear blue of the western sky

comes... Sky

King! Brought to you by Nabisco,

National Biscuit Company. And, as we say

here in the West, Reach, partner.

Reach for Nabisco.

Reach for Nabisco.

The bright red seal on the

packaging. Means there's mighty good

cookies inside, my friend.

Yep, that red Nabisco seal is on all

your favorite cookies. Creamy chocolatey

Oreo cream sandwich, rich different

Swiss cream sandwich, yummy Fig

Newtons, crispy sweet Nabisco sugar

wafers, and many, many others. So

just remember, when it comes to cookies,

Reach for Nabisco Nabisco

And now, Sky King.

Dr. Norgaard here has been in charge of

the project from the beginning, Sky. We

think he's done an excellent job. I most

certainly agree with you, General

Summers. Tremendous achievement, Doctor.

We have a great deal of faith in this

thing, Sky. That's the reason the

government has cooperated so closely with

the Benson Company in the development of

SR-501.

This is incredible. No other

rocket has ever gone beyond the

stratosphere to this level. The test

tomorrow will prove that it can. Now

then, when the rocket reaches point X, it

will disintegrate and release the

instrument capsule. And the capsule, of

course, will be returned to Earth by

parachute. Yes, of course. The

instruments will have recorded some very

important and valuable information, Mr.

King. Naturally, the capsule must be

recovered. According to my calculations,

it should return to work somewhere near

the outskirts of your ranch. And since

the presence of military personnel in the

area would arouse a certain amount of

curiosity, perhaps attract an undesirable

element, we decided to assign a three-man

team to the task. So that's where I come

into the picture, huhWho are the other

members of the team, General?Well, one of

the members will be Captain Andrews of

Military Intelligence. The other, a

member of my staff, Dr. Farris.

So, Sky, prepare to receive some special

weekend guests at your ranch tonight. You

understand, Mr. King. It is of utmost

important that your team complete its

mission as quickly and as quietly as

possible. Probably you'll have no trouble

at all, since this has been a top-secret

project from the start. However,

one never knows.

You are late, Carl.

I have a very important mission for you.

It concerns the

SR-501. As

we had expected, this man Sky King has

been assigned to head the team that is to

recover the instrument capsule. I've been

informed that the other two members are

expected to arrive at King's ride

sometime this evening. You, my dear

Carl, will take the place of one of these

men. You shall become one of the members

of this special team.

Yes, we're proceeding according to plan.

I assure you, nothing will go wrong.

Carl should be at the ranch now, or at

least he should be there at any moment.

Pretty rough terrain here.

I'll get it, Uncle Sky. It's probably

Bob. We're going to a show,

remember?Oh, sure. All right, Penny. As I

was saying, Doctor, this is pretty rough

terrain. Hi, Bob. Oh,

hello. Is this Sky King's ranch?Yes, it

is. Won't you come in?Thank you.

I'm Schuyler King.

oh captain Andrews nice to know you very

nice to know you this is my niece Penny

how do you do I'll take it thank you

captain I

want you to meet Dr. Ferris Dr. Ferris

good evening captain well gentlemen shall

we get with it time's a wasting I must

apologize for being late I was delayed at

the airport that's quite all right

captain I only got here a few moments ago

myselfWell, looks like the first thing to

do is to acquaint you two with the area

around here. It's a good idea. We might

be seeing quite a bit of it before all

this is over. That's for sure. Now,

according to Dr. Norgar's calculations,

we can expect a capsule to land somewhere

within this area.

Well, that about

does it, gentlemen. Right. Now, we've

agreed that Sky will be up on his plane,

track the chute and radio to the two of

us, Doctor, in the station wagon. And

direct us to the location of the capsule.

And if we find you can't reach it by car,

we'll rendezvous as close as possible and

go in after it together. Agreed. Good.

Now, since that test is scheduled for

dawn tomorrow... Sleep. I

agree with that, too.

See you in the morning. Bright and early.

Hi, youngsters. Hi. How was that

super-secret meeting of yours?Fine. How

was the movie?Oh, keen. Uh, terrible.

Well, there seems to be quite a wide

difference of opinion here. Just because

there wasn't a single plane in the

picture, he didn't like it. Oh, the

leading man was the biggest ham I ever

saw. He was absolutely dreamy. He looked

more like he was half asleep most of the

time. By the way, have your guests left

yet?No. Good. How long are they going to

stay over?

Now, what do you suppose that is?Looks

kind of like a signal. It's blinking on

and off. Come on, Bob, let's take a look.

That light came from somewhere along

here, Sky.

You stay here with Penny, I'll go have a

look.

Sky, are you all right?Sure, Penny, I'm

okay. Who was it?I don't know, I didn't

get a good look at him. Come on, maybe we

can-- Oh, he's armed, let him go. Look,

Sky, I don't mean to pry, but something's

going on. I mean you getting a hurry-up

call from General Summers this morning,

and then an army captain and a scientist

show up. That was a signal we saw, wasn't

it?And it was meant for somebody back at

the ranch. I'm afraid so, Penny. It

was meant for one of my guests, maybe

both. Look.

I'm gonna let you two kids in on

something that's strictly confidential.

Sure, Sky. What is it?I'm gonna have a

little job for you two. Come on, we'll

talk about it on the way back.

SR-501 calling songbird.

Just what we're afraid of. That capsule's

headed straight for those mountains.

Proceed, cutoff, sugar dog, for

rendezvous at Baker 8-6.

Roger. Over and out.

Well, gentlemen, looks like we have our

work cut out for us. Got a long climb

ahead of us. Better get started.

Do you think anything could have gone

wrong?Oh, I don't believe so, Doctor. But

it's been over an hour since they started

the climb. Surely we should have heard

something by now. Oh, relax, Doctor. It's

a long way to that plateau. Oh, I realize

that. But you can't help worrying, huhI

understand that. I also understand your

anxiety. You just can't wait to check

those instruments, can you?Well, it is

difficult, the waiting. I was wondering,

General Summers... Yes?If I left for Mr.

King's ranch now, I could possibly get

there by the time they returned with the

capsule. Why not?Yes,

I could do that, couldn't I?Well, Doctor,

what are you waiting for?

I'll take that, Doctor. May I remind the

captain that this is still the property

of the Benson Company?Well, gentlemen,

shall we start down again?

Sky!

Sky!

Sky, you okay?My leg. I think I've

broken it. How is he, Andrews? It's

his leg. He thinks it's broken. Harris,

you better come on down here and...

I'm afraid I have more important things

to do, my dear captain. Don't try

it, Captain. I suggest you throw that g*n

away. Throw it far away.

Throw it away I said. That's

better. That's much

better.

Hold it, Captain. Let him go. There's

nothing wrong with my leg. Wait a minute.

You mean that dive you-- It was rather

convincing, didn't it?I wanted to see

which one of you'd make a break for it.

Which one of?You suspected me?Sorry.

I wasn't really sure until you came down

that slope to help me.

So now you know. In the meantime, Ferris

is getting away. He's not Dr. Ferris,

Captain. So whoever he is, he's still got

the capsule. Not the real one. It landed

about two miles north of here. What?I've

already made arrangements to have it

picked up.

Well, our friend's on his way to the head

man. He is the one we're after. Should we

start trailing him?Well, that's already

been assigned to Bob. He'll attract less

attention. Come on.

He's here. Good.

Good work, Carl. Now you better get the

station wagon undercover and bring the

sedan around. We're leaving immediately.

What about our friend, Dr. Perris?Well,

take him with us, of course. He knows too

much of my work to be left behind. And it

would be a pity to destroy such a

brilliant parade. We'll be able to make

good use of his skill where we're going.

Is the rendezvousment established?Yes,

the freighter will pick us up off the

coast at midnight. Wait a minute.

For a moment I thought... No, that's

not Scott Yee. You're certain?Yeah, it

was a much smaller plane. Probably some

weekend flyers from Grover. I'll get the

car.

What do we do now?Just go right on, like

we're minding our own business. You can

bet those birds down there are really

good with us to once over. Don't you

think we ought a radio sky?Uh-huh, right

now. Flip that key over to the special

band, will you, Penny?

Go ahead, Bob.

Got it.

The g*ng's pulling out. Yes, Bob.

No, we don't want to tip our hand yet.

Just keep an eye on them. Contact us

again when you're sure which way they're

headed.

Got it, Bob. turned into the

old Canyon Road headed south with the

border obviously we better get over there

as fast as we can I had hope we could

take him by surprise you still think the

real Dr. Ferris is with him well we

certainly wouldn't want anything to

happen to him let me take another look at

that map you know the fact that

they're on that road might turn into a

real break for us there's not a cutoff

for the next 30 miles so they

have to pass the McConnell Ranch just

this side of dry wells what are you

getting at skyI think I have an idea

that'll help us round up that g*ng

without too much trouble.

Okay, sky. Over and out.

I don't get it. What did he say?You can

quit playing Possum and go down there and

needle that bunch. Make a few passes at

him. Don't ask me why, but

it sounds like a good idea.

I'd say we made a definite impression,

wouldn't you?Definitely. Shall we have

another go out of there?Be my gift.

I only wish I knew what Skye was up to,

though. So do I. He said he and

Captain Andrews were headed for

McConnell's ranch.

I said back up, Carl. I think it would be

wise to change cars. Just cause some

crazy flyer buzzes a few times. We

haven't seen any sight of the guy for the

last 25 miles. That crazy flyer might

have told the police to be on the lookout

for a black sedan. Now back up.

You there.

Hold it for Mr. Norgaard.

Nice work, Andrews. Glad to see you're

safe, Dr. Farris.

It took a lot of time to figure out this

impersonation scheme. But you're going to

have a lot more time trying to figure out

where it went wrong in prison.

Tune in again next week. And remember,

Reach for Nabisco!

Reach for Nabisco!

The bright red seal on the

package means there's mighty good

cookies inside, my friend.
