Flight 12 calling Taylor Airlines. Flight

Taylor Airlines to Flight 12. Go ahead,

Jeff. I'm in trouble, boss. May have

to bail out. What's wrong?Left engine

conked out. I'm losing altitude fast.

Can't you make it into the field?Don't

think so. Too far out. Can't keep her

nose up. Stick with it, Jeff. You've got

to get that cargo through. I'll do what I

can, but it looks bad. The right

engine's giving me trouble now.

She's starting to go out. Don't think I

can save her. Where are you, Jeff?Repeat,

where are you?Over. Yes, I can figure

about 20 miles east of Table Mountain.

Over. Can you make a dead stick landing?

Can't do it. Ground's too rough.

Gotta hit the soap now. Wish me luck.

Jeff! Jeff!

Well. Right on time, I say.

Naturally. Well?How'd it go?Just

like you said it would. As far as

Taylor's concerned, I just bailed out,

and his plane is about to crash with a

very perishable cargo aboard. Excellent.

Gus, take some mesquite and rub out the

plane's wheel marks.

You think of everything. A plane that has

just crashed would hardly leave wheel

marks on the ground. Where's the shipment?

Up front. I'll get it.

Be careful with it. It's very fragile.

Yeah, sure.

Easy now.

What do you want with this shipment of

crockery?That

crockery, my friend, happens to be an

exceedingly valuable collection of

ceramic art. One piece is priceless,

the porcelain lion. What good is

something like that to you? It's supposed

to be destroyed. You can't sell it now.

On the contrary. There's a highly

profitable market for such things.

Certain men are willing to pay handsomely

for them, just to admire them in secret.

I know. I deal with those men.

Sounds crazy to me. But as long as I get

my cut. Gus,

don't worry, my friend. You'll get your

cut, as you call it. Put the crate

in the car and handle it with care.

and move the car over to those rocks.

Now, Bradford, you can pour the gasoline

on the plane.

Good. Like it.

We'd better get out of here before

somebody gets curious.

This looks like a good place. Come on.

This'll do. Spread your

parachute here as though you'd left it

when you landed. You've really got

everything figured out. A crime,

my friend, is like a work of art. It

must have no imperfections, or it's

worthless. You know, Parrish, I like the

way you operate. No loose ends.

That's right, Mr. Bradford.

Not a one. What do you figure this

porcelain lion thing is worth?Ten

thousand?Twenty?My

dear young fellow, a porcelain lion isn't

a toy. More than twenty thousand?

Well, I know what I'm going to do with my

sheriff. Indeed?

South America for me. Never been down

there. Never had the right kind of dough.

But now the things are breaking.

What a pity. Put the harness on

him, Gus, while I pull out his chute.

Then we'll we'll pull him across the

ground as though the wind had draggedhim.

That's far enough, Gus. Now spread out

the parachute.

Oh, too bad about Mr. Bradford.

k*lled when his head struck a boulder.

Now only you and I, Gus, are left to

share the profits of our little scheme,

a work of art. A crime

without imperfection.

Gus.

Come on. No bricks in the

fence along here. Well, that does it.

I guess we can head for home.

Clipper, look. Smoke, all beyond that

ridge.

What's it coming from?I can't tell.

We'd better take a look.

Forget it! Head back to town!

Clipper, down there!

It's an open parachute. A plane must have

crashed. There's a car on the road

driving away. They must be taking whoever

jumped back to town. However,

it looks like there's a body near the

parachute. What?I wonder why

that car didn't stop. I don't know.

We better go back to the ranch and report

this.

That's right, Sheriff. About three miles

from the turnoff on Willow Creek Road.

Yes. See you there.

The sheriff's going right out there. Come

on, we'll have a look ourselves.

Poor Jeff. If he'd only stuck with a

plane, he might have been able to bring

her in. Must have got panicky.

Yeah. He's a kind of

wood.

What happened?Just one of those things.

Engine failed. Pilot jumped. sh**t

dragged him, and he hit his head against

one of those boulders. k*lled instantly.

One of your planes, Jim?Yes, Guy. It was

a tough break for me. I couldn't get

insurance on the cargo. What was the

plane's cargo?Shipment of art objects

headed for an exhibit in San Francisco.

It belonged to Old Man Collins. You've

probably heard of him. Oh, his collection

is famous. Didn't he own the porcelain

lion?Did own it. There's nothing left of

it now. The plane crashed on the other

side of the ridge. Total loss?

Both plane and cargo. Well, I've got to

get back to town. Oh, by the way,

Sheriff, Penny and Clipper saw a car on

the road here when they flew over. It was

a big yellow sedan. Probably just some

farmer. Bert, you stay here until the

coroner arrives for the body. Right,

Sheriff. Well, I guess there's nothing

more I can do here. Might as well be

getting back to town, too. Thanks for

notifying us, guys. So long. So long.

Just before you

found the parachute, Bert?Yep, just like

it is now. All we did was slip Bradford

out of the harness. Okay to have a look?

Sure, go ahead.

The wind must have pulled him against

that boulder with a lot of force. Had to

have k*lled him, didn't it?Yes, Yes it

did. But in order to drag

Bradford's body the way it did, the

parachute would have to be traveling

against the wind. But it couldn't. The

chute has to go with the wind. Skye's

right. Bradford was dragged directly

into the wind. I'm beginning to be very

curious about that car you saw. It

rained here last night. We ought to be

able to find those tire tracks and tell

whether the car stopped or not. Well,

here's some tracks, Guy.

They don't look like the sheriffs or

tailors. It looks like the car turned

around here. You're right, Penny. They

did turn around. Hey, look over there.

Something scraped that rock.

Paint from an automobile. And it's

yellow, just like the car we saw. For

some reason that car you saw stopped

here. And then turned around. Yes.

This road hits the main highway to

Chadwick. Maybe there we'll find some

place of that yellow sedan you saw. Come

on.

It shouldn't be too hard to find that

yellow car. That scrape fender will make

it easy to identify. If the car is in

town. If it is, we'll find it. I'll meet

you here at the sheriff's office in half

an hour. Right. I'll go this way, Penny.

Okay.

Yes, Harry. Arizona license plate,

F-64279.

That's right. I'll hang on. He's checking

the fires. It'll only be a second.

Excuse me, mister. This your store?Try

what you want. How would you like to

subscribe to the Daily Sentinel?Not

interested. It's It's a very good paper,

Mr. Parish. I'm sure you'd like it.

You are, Mr. Parish?Yes, but I'm not

interested in your paper.

How did you know my name?Ohh Well, I

I looked it up in the phone book.

Oh. Well, I'm sorry to have bothered you.

Thanks anyway.

Yes, Harry?The car is

registered to Gideon Parrish,

Street. Thanks, Harry. Goodbye.

Sky, I found the car. It belongs to

Gideon Parrish. Yes, we know. He lives at

Penny got the license number of the car.

The sheriff just checked it with the

Department of Motor Vehicles. Well, I'll

bet Penny didn't find out that Gideon

Parrish is an art dealer. An art dealer.

And that plane of Taylor's was carrying a

shipment of art objects. You said those

two men that got into the car came out of

the Western Union office?That's right,

Sky. I'd sure like to get a look at the

message they sent. Do you think they'd

let us?Afraid not, Penny. Those messages

are private. Well, maybe we could get a

court order or something. Well, that'd

take forever. Sheriff?Well, I

know Judge Beale pretty well. I think

he'd help us if we explained the

situation. Let's try it.

Here's your court order.

What's it say?Valuable cats you wanted.

Ready for sale. Suggest you come at once.

It's signed Parish, addressed to Hugo

Mercer in Santa Fe. Gee, that sounds

pretty innocent. All depends on how you

read it, Clipper. Suppose valuable cat

stands for porcelain lion. That

doesn't sound so innocent, does it?It all

fits in, Sky, with what you told me

earlier. Yes, Sheriff. If my theory is

correct, this whole thing is a clever

scheme concocted by Parrish to get his

hands on the porcelain lion and the rest

of the archshipment. What about Bradford?

If there was nothing wrong with that

plane, why did he jump?I don't believe he

did jump. You mean Bradford was in on the

plot?He might have been. Where are

you going?I'm going out and pick up

Parrish for questioning. Then I'm going

to search his shop. And if I find that

porcelain lion... I don't believe I do

that, Sheriff. Why not?Well,

I think Parrish is too clever to leave it

around where it could be found. If you

question him now, you'll tip your hand

before there's any real evidence. What

else can I do?I have a plan I

think will make Parrish betray himself.

How?Just this.

I'm going to pay a call.

Yes?I'm looking for Gideon

Parrish. I am he?My name's

Bennett. I'm a friend of Hugo's.

He sent me to pick up the cat. Cat?

I'm not sure that I understand. You know,

that valuable cat you worried him about.

And why didn't Hugo come for it himself?

He's sick. He asked me to come in his

place. I see.

You got here rather promptly. Not very

far. I came by chartered plane. Of

course, Mr. Bennet, you must realize that

I think a good deal of the captain. I

wouldn't want to entrust it to a

stranger, unless I was

certain of his identity. Why not call,

Hugo?Not a bad idea.

I think I will.

Operator, I want to speak to Mr. Hugo

Mercer in Santa Fe. Yes, that's

right. I'll hold on.

Hello. Sheriff Hollister, that call just

came through for Santa Fe. Do you want me

to switch it to your office?Yes, please,

operator.

Hello?This is Hugo.

Hello, Gideon. There's a man here

named Bennett. Says you sent

him for the cat. That's right.

He's a friend of mine. I've been

ill. You can deliver it to

Bennett. Your voice sounds rather

strange, Hugo. I I

told you, I've been sick.

Ah, yes. All right,

I'll do as you say. Goodbye, Hugo.

Well, satisfied?Not

quite, my friend.

You forgot just one thing. Hugo speaks

with an accent.

You're a very clever man, Parrish.

But you know very well Hugo has no

accent. You just wanted to make sure I

knew it.

You'll forgive me, I hope. But one must

take every precaution in matters such as

this. Sure, sure, I don't blame you.

Now what about the cat? It's not here, of

course. But I can deliver it to you

within the hour. I'm at the hotel,

room 204. Good. I'll be there at five.

All right, Gus.

Get the porcelain lion, bring it back

here and pick me up.

It works, Guy. Just the way you planned

it. So far it has. I've arranged to meet

Parrish at the hotel at five. He'll bring

the porcelain lion. That's when we'll

grab him. With the evidence right in his

hands. Good work, Skye. You two stay

here. Watch from the window. When Parrish

shows up, phone me at the hotel. Got it,

Skye. You come with me. With pleasure.

Just about five, Sky. All right, you know

what to do when the kids call. I wish we

could see Parrish coming from up here.

Clipper and Penny will be able to spot

him. Think you'll come alone?I hope not.

There's somebody else in this with him.

Parrish isn't the kind to dirty his own

hands with m*rder. The more the merrier.

Let me get this straight. I stay in the

closet till Parrish hands you the lion,

right?RightI'll try to get him to talk.

This probably isn't the first time he's

been mixed up in hijacking or m*rder.

Then when the lion is safely in my hands,

come on out. Got you.

Shouldn't be long now. I hope those kids

are on their toes.

Any sign of them yet?No, not

yet. Be careful, Clipper.

Don't let him see you watching. Don't

worry.

Here he comes. Call Sky.

He's got somebody with him. Room

Penny? They just pulled up in front, Sky.

Two of them. They'll be there any minute.

Good. Thanks, Penny.

They're on the way. They?You brought a

friend.

Gideon. Hugo. What

are you doing here?I got your wire. I

just got in town. I was gonna call you.

You're not ill?Ill?I don't

understand, Gideon. So, it's a

trap. Get in the car, Hugo, you're going

with us. But what about... There isn't

time to explain. Do as I say. The lion,

it's all right, isn't it?You haven't lost

it. We'll both lose more than that if we

don't get out of here. Come on.

Something's gone wrong. Call Sky.

Hurry.

There's no answer.

What do we do?We can't let them get away

now. I'm gonna stop them, if I

can. Keep playing against Scott. Wait!

Hey, mister. Well, you

you got a flat tire.

Well, it's on the other side. What's

wrong?I don't know.

They're certainly taking their time about

getting here. Yes,

I wonder if something could havehappened.

What's the idea?Well, it looks

flat to me. You're the lad who is in

my shop. And you're

mixed up in this somehow. Get in the car.

Yeah, but I was only... Get in the car

and make it past. Go on,

get him.

What was that?Come on!

Hurry up and use the sheriff's car across

the street. Hold it, sheriff. You'll hit

clipper. Hurry up.

Come on now.

That's all, boys. You all right, Pipper?

Yeah, sure. Thanks, Benny.

I'll relieve you of that officially,

Parrish. You can see it again in court.

All right, inside.

Break it up, folks. Break it up.

There it is. That's what all

the sh**ting was about. Looks like a

piggy bank to me. But meant a lot more

than that to Parrish and the man he was

going to sell it to. What about the rest

of the cargo?Oh, I'm sure we'll find that

all right. The porcelain line was the

important thing to Parrish. I might agree

with you, Sky. Recovering that cargo

means I'm still in business. And Parrish

is out. I told him he had a flat tire.

Sky, Clipper, and Penny may now be seen

regularly on TVin a new series of

adventure films. Be sure to watch for

them.
