Once Upon an orphanage my life was a

near tragic State I longed to find a

brighter place somewhere full of love

and grace I dream of fields with a cool

Ocean Breeze a home for my own family

when I got my wish I pinched myself to

make sure this home was real

they said for a boy but then I was a

girl my dreaming had just let me down

again if I came as a queen this long

ebony hairs and maybe they'd feel I was

worth it for them I'm a good worker in

spite of My Talking I belong to

belonging for all of my life don't send

me away without seeing what I see

everything I touch is full of delights

I'll do my best to not let you down I

can imagine in a world full of joy just

give me your hand and I'll teach you to

hope you'll find that I have something

worthwhile just let me stay here

forever I promise a life full of smiles

ambition is to set eyes on Mrs Van

right now Mrs Petty rudely went and

caught a cold leaving me without a

babysitter tomorrow if I don't find a

replacement I'll miss the social event

the job Mrs Lind who someone reliable

someone old enough someone you've known

a long time sounds perfect when can I

babysitting well I've yeah I've played

with my cousins a hundred times there's

a big difference between playing games

and being entirely responsible for my

had no experience how am I supposed to

get experience if nobody will take a

job after all

entirely unreasonable I'm going to March

over there right now and tell her Bravo

regarding the question of your need for

a babysitter yes I ask you to remember

that I say this having looked after

dozens of children at the orphanage in

my opinion you've been offered the

perfect person for the job I certainly

I appreciate you helping me with my

been nice had certain people conferred

with me before making so magnanimous an

offer believe me Marilla I had to think

fast we didn't have the time Green

Gables is hardly set up for a toddler to

run rampant in we got you from the

orphanage at a relatively civilized age

so we just take anything that might

break or hurt a little boy and put it

out of Harm's Way but these pennies

won't break maybe not but toddlers can

choke on small objects oh of course

speaking of toddlers tummies

all cleaners and such must be safely

locked away pot handles get turned in

sharp things kept Out Of Reach

dangerous for a little child it's a

wonder any of them

sort of work this would be for you we'll

manage I found something that might

amuse the child

my old baby rattle I haven't seen that

in a donkey's age must have been a

rather old donkey

oh Marilla you can be sure we'll treat

this treasured family heirloom with the

utmost of care

here's Kimmy's blanket and toys and

favorite snacks his diapers and a

stuffed animal named

um Alphonse or Albert oh I can't

remember and a change of clothes now

what am I forgetting nothing I'm sure

come on we have a tea party to get to uh

Marilla promise to remember ever detail

I want a full report down to the last

cucumber sandwich and Lace trim

I'm rather excited myself now I know

Timmy is in good hands

what a big fuss everybody's making I

mean after all there are two of us and

was to have you over on your own so it

would be just the two of us

so he could manage on his own oh yes I'm

one thing's for sure I'd never have

allowed Gilbert to babysit my precious

nephew if I thought for one second that

Anne wasn't by his side too true

Diana I've made a most terrible mistake

we have to get the Green Gables I should

never have left Gilbert to manage on his

Gilbert was doing so well things can

change in the blink of an eye foreign

Timmy babysitting is a lot like life

full of ups and downs

my first job taught me that every

problem has a solution and that

boy are you unpredictable oh trouble in

the chicken coop

the only place I could get him to take a

nap

with that kind of creativity you'll be

the best babysitter ever

but her terrible housekeeper hey I

couldn't do everything we'd best get it

ship shape or else nobody will ever hire

you again we'd better hurry before

Ann's been so busy helping me she must

have forgotten all about it well her

house was as I expected no better than

last year and her cream cakes aren't

nearly as good as yours

or so I'm told

Timmy should have a Memento of his visit

may I have Matthew's old baby rattle

what a wonderful idea Marilla now where

is it oh dear it must have fallen out

when when uh When what when Diana and I

were crawling to escape Mrs Van hoyt's

you neglected your responsibilities

we were escaping to come back here

except Anne never should have left in

the first place it's a good thing

Gilbert was so responsible Marilla it

was a dreadful mistake I assure you I'll

never make it again

except Matthew's rattle was needlessly

sacrificed not necessarily Marilla you

knew

and surely you do beat all

the babysitting money and my savings

were enough to buy the tripod oh I can't

wait to try it out whose picture will

you'll have plenty of extra money for

your hobby now Gilbert I've spread the

word and people will be lining up for

your services it's thanks to you giving

me a chance Mrs Lind yes well I always

knew you had it in you hey Gilbert say
