01x08 - Lost and Found

Once Upon an orphanage my life was a

near tragic State

I longed to find a brighter place

somewhere full of love and grace I dream

of fields with a cool Ocean Breeze a

home for my own family

when I got my wish I pinched myself to

make sure this home was real

they said for a boy but then I was a

girl my dreaming had just let me down

again if I came as a queen this long

ebony hairs and maybe they'd feel I was

worth it for them I'm a good worker in

spite of My Talking I belong to belong

here for all of my life don't send me

away without seeing what I see

everything I touch is full of delights

I'll do my best to not let you down I

can imagine a world full of joy just

give me your hand

you'll find that I have something

worthwhile just let me stay here and

I'll love you forever I promise a life

full of smiles

oh dear we tried not to interrupt your

afternoon nap hello a feather falling

could wake me when there's berries about

the last time Marilla made blackberry

pie she had to fill half the pastry with

apples that you and Diana too she helped

me pick every last Berry behind the barn

then Diana perhaps you would care to

stay for Sunday supper what's that in

the big news today you know that old

shipwreck at Curtis point a pirate ship

we're so

well they've just found the captain's

Journal rolled up in a bottle and washed

ashore how scintillating think of it the

last words of a captain despairing as

his ship goes down what does it say says

here the captain's last entry was about

a treasure his crew had hidden near

Heavenly treasure hidden treasure I can

hardly believe my ears follow what they

printed here and you just might find it

my dear brother

you never change I remember when you

were all of seven returning from the

forest purple to the elbows with a

bellyache to boot well I'm off the plow

oh Diana I'd do anything to find that

treasure we might have our very own

treasure map right in this newspaper

article exactly this is the key to our

terrarium

let's see a hammer that looks useful and

a blanket very important in case it gets

cold cold uh how long will we be as

enterprising explorers we must be

prepared for all possibilities

I suppose

won't Matthew miss any of this we'll be

back before he needs it

of course our map to the treasure here

I've been in this Forest a hundred times

and I've never seen a treasure that's

because we weren't looking

now that we're on an exotic Mission

doesn't the forest hold a thrilling

mystery

I only hope that the forest doesn't hold

any great collection of uh pirates

pirates yes or uh treasure Hunters yes

or even bugs

they're not exactly my favorite thing

you know I've asked ye blood sucking

piss

fear not Diana I hereby nominate myself

and surely as the Explorer to deal with

bugs on this Mission well that's some

relief

now shall we uncover this mystery we

shall

whatever do you think we'll find in that

Treasure Chest silver dollars gold coins

I hope it's not some creepy crawly thing

nesting inside not if they sealed it

tight

how will we open the lock I'm sure we'll

find something in our bags

I'm sure Pig was just telling stories

let's find the treasure and get out of

my trusty sailor lugged the precious

trunk through a thick forest oh we're

certainly deep in the forest until we

found a patch of birch and pine trees

these are Merchant Pine we followed the

sun until we came to a rock with strange

markings

from there my crew found a creek running

through the brush I don't see it

my mates and I followed the creek until

we found a small Mossy Enclave uh let's

try this way Enclave

what delicious word I must use it in my

newspaper story now what it says to look

for a butterfly butterfly yes near the

water was a flock of colorful

butterflies which led us to the

Treasure's hiding spot look

maybe it will lead us to the rest

maybe that's not the butterfly we were

supposed to go after where are we anyway

wherever it is it sure is spooky

nasty trolls did exist like Peg Bowen

said this is surely where their Lair

would be

I only said if there were trolls what

was that Justin Farmer's dog I'm sure

does this article say anything about how

to get back we're not going back now

we're so close how do you know we must

be don't lose sight of the treasure who

cares years I want to go home Diana

oh and I'm sorry no it is I who should

be filled with remorse it wasn't giving

us all that much help anyway how will we

get home now no one's gonna come and

help us we we didn't even tell anyone

where we were going my mistake I know

I'd sure hate to miss marilla's pie

that's the least of our worries

well why don't we split up and do some

exploring on our own alone

is that wise with both of us looking

we'll find our way back that much sooner

guess so we'll meet back at at that big

old tree with the trunk so gnarled it

looks like a scary gargoyle oh

Diana that was an infinitely insensitive

thing for me to say banish the thought

from your mind now we'll meet back here

looking for Clues like Footprints I

wonder oh thank goodness I put this in

my pocket

she is easily frightened after all

now if I were Diana I'd see those rocks

in sync they looked like a frightful

monster about to pounce

but that's nonsense even so I'll just

I only wish I'd use some of it when we

first got lost well I'm finished here so

forest look

that's better I can think much happier

now Matthew once told me you can use the

Sun as a compass Green Gables is west of

the forest and since the sun sets in the

west if we want to get home we follow

the Sun

now where say isn't that running water

it must be the creek we passed before

this way

our knapsacks we're on the right truck

but which way from here remember what

Peg said look where you're going and

remember where you've been I'll use my

hair ribbons to Mark our way

so if we get lost again we can retrace

our steps what a noble sacrifice

too bad I didn't think of this before

well we weren't thinking clearly were we

I see you found me oh here all our clear

thinking isn't gonna get us very far in

this fog I prefer to view it as our

greatest challenge yet listen

of course it's fog Diana it hasn't

affected my hearing well it may be foggy

down here but it's utterly clear up

I can see the top of the Avonlea Church

good thing we're out of that fog except

I fear the worst has happened what I've

let us horribly afraid oh will you ever

forgive me it's a dead end what will we

do don't panic I've been tying ribbons

all this time remember we just retrace

our steps to that fork in the path and

go the other route

good clear thinking

we took another pass but now nothing

looks familiar I have an idea

what on Earth are you doing I'm

following Peg Bowen's advice and looking

where we're going and what I see is an

ant as you know I wouldn't usually find

this ant appealing but this end happens

to be carrying an ooey gooey blackberry

and and the next ant is also carrying a

Blackberry and the Ant after that

bit of pastry which means they're coming

from marilla's pie cooling on the

windowsill follow the trail of ants and

we'll be back in no time Diana I don't

believe I've ever witnessed such

staggering Brilliance you know bugs

aren't so creepy when you really look at

them wait till Matthew hears about this

orienteering trick

it sure is a long way for an ant to go

for a Blackberry

I told you marilla's pie was good

there it is look Diana

we did it still it's a shame we never

found that treasure

it says here at long last my crew laid

our treasure to rest near a meadow a

spot with grass and trees alike

colorful butterfly just like in the

captain's Journal

dare we investigate my fellow Explorer

absolutely

yeah we had an exciting time next time

I'll start by reading the whole article

we're training for more challenging

the last piece because it's the ants

made away with one pie there's less to

go around in my experience explorers are

in great need of sustenance yes for

their next adventure

and it's a good thing I brought two

extra Forks isn't it
