They're just hearing my voice.

And my whole life, I've been told
that my tone is very different.

I think being unique
is always really cool.

What's your name? And where are you from?

My name is Anya True.

I just turned 17 years old.

-And I'm from Encinitas, California.
-Awesome.

[Anya] Encinitas, it's, like,
a little beach town.

It's usually always sunny.

We live, like, two blocks from the beach,
so it's just very, like, chill.

Being 17, my main priority right now
is finishing my senior year,

which I'm about to go into.

I'm a straight "A" student,
at least so far,

so hopefully we can keep
that streak going next year.

Typical day for me is doing
online school in my room.

I was going into
my freshman year of high school,

and I was gonna go to a public school,
and I realized this is, like,

the time to focus on my passions.

Typically, I'll work for, like,
six hours a day just in my room,

and then I'll spend the rest of the day
either songwriting or working on my music.

It was definitely a difficult
choice because, you know,

I'm not getting that authentic
high school experience,

but it's so worth it,

because every ounce of free time I have,
I just get to do what I love.

I started just doing local gigs
around my town.

And in New Orleans,
I sung at the House of Blues,

which was super cool.

And then I got the chance
to go to Nashville,

and I got to play at the Bluebird Cafe.

I mean, Taylor Swift played on that stage.

And now I'm performing on this stage,
which is crazy.

I don't know if you saw, but I definitely
turned around before them.

-Our chair's heavier.
-Our chair's... It's a little slower.

I wasn't saying, "Turn with me."
I was just saying she's good.

That was a flawless performance.
I love the vulnerability.

You have this kind of Olivia Rodrigo
kind of thing going on.

-Your voice is phenomenal.
-Thank you.

I love all the little imperfections that
you had. I felt like they were kind of...

-Character. Yeah.
-Character, and they were very purposeful.

-Thank you.
-My heart's racing right now...

I'll tell you this, I was a good singer,

and I started working with this guy,
and it made me a great singer.

We will take you from being
a great singer to an amazing singer.

I really think we can do that for you.

I think you got a shot
at winning this thing.

I loved your voice when
it broke into the falsetto.

It was vulnerable in a whisper tone.

And then at the end of the performance,
you hit those same notes full voice.

And I was like, "She's got it all."
I'm fired up.

I really love all the falsetto
and head-voice stuff that you were doing.

I think what I do with all the people
that come on my team

is I try and lean into their influences.

This is your stage,
and every week people are coming

to learn more about you
and see what your influences are.

And so I like to let people
just take the stage and do their thing.

than a lot of the older artists,

because your mind is, like,
just ready to soak in

I'm William Alexander, I'm 16 years old,
and I'm from Staten Island, New York.

My parents are from India...
I'm a first-generation American...

and came here to be in America
and to give opportunities to their kids.

And it's just crazy that I'm here now.

My parents put me in
talent shows when I was younger.

I had this really cool opportunity
to perform with the Kidz Bop Kids.

So, the first Apollo performance I had

was "Showtime at the Apollo"
with Steve Harvey,

and then I got called back
to do Amateur Night,

and then I ended up
winning the entire thing.

I just loved the feeling
of being on that stage

and really singing my heart out.

My family has just been super, super
supportive of me and my music career,

especially my grandfather.

He always used to say
that he was my number-one fan.

He was blind,

so he loved hearing my voice,
and he always told me that I would go far

and that I just needed
to believe in myself.

Last year, he passed away and... [sniffles]

...it's crazy that I'm here now,
and he's not here to see this.

[crying] But I know
he's watching from above,

and looking down on me and he's so proud.

[sobbing]

It's a blessing from God
and Grandfather and Grandmother.

And we support you completely.

To go out in front of
these amazing coaches,

it's just gonna be a dream come true.

I've been singing ever since
I can really remember.

Singing that song, I was actually
singing it for my grandfather,

who passed away last year,
and he always said that he believed in me.

And it's just crazy being here now.

Were you thinking about your grandfather?

-Yes.
-[Reba] Okay.

'Cause when I sing a song
and I'm thinking about my mama, my voice...

[whimpering] I'm like that, and I get...

I can't sing anymore. How did you do that?

I just pictured him hearing this
and seeing me do this.

It just made me feel so proud,

and I'm gonna have to
start talking very high.

My name is Alyssa Crosby.

I am 32 years old,
and I'm from Binghamton, New York.

So, I always loved to sing.

Around my early 20s,
I started my first band,

and it felt life-changing.

We do a lot of cover songs,
and I get to dress up in funky outfits

and be a rock star.

And I realized, there's gotta be a way
I can do this forever.

To help pay the bills,
when I'm not gigging, I am a bartender.

I really enjoy my job.

But for music to be my full time,

every-single-day job,
that would be my dream.

I've really grown into who I am
in the last few years of my life.

My fiancé's name is Dan.

As cliché‚ as it is,
he's the greatest human being.

He saved my life

in a lot of ways.

We were both in a very,
very bad place when we met

and going down some really bad paths.

We were both struggling
with an alcohol dependency,

and we've kind of been each other's rocks
through that whole experience.

We have been alcohol-free
for nearly four years,

and I never thought in a million years

that my life would be
as wonderful as it is now.

You got this. You're gonna do amazing.

We're kind of those people that are, like,

"Let's just sh**t for the stars,

and whatever happens, we're gonna be there

I've been singing
since I was a little kid.

My mom and dad had a karaoke business.

I'm originally from Orlando, Florida

but I currently live
in Los Angeles, California.

So, I combined my first name, Reggie,
and my last name, which is Lett,

took letters apart, added "O" to the end,
and came up with "Rletto."

You can make anything cool,
just gotta add the "O," man.

I got into music because I would just
watch my grandmother sing in choir.

I was like, "That's cool."
Like, "I want to do that too."

After I graduated high school,

I ended up getting a scholarship
to Berklee, the music college.

I would say I'm a pop singer.

My name is Rletto.

I'm starting to get into,
like, melodic rap, too. So it'd be like...

I was doing weddings every single weekend
for, like, four years.

That made me really sad

because I was watching people

I do think "The Voice" will help
me find true love, honestly. Maybe... Mmm...

So, I moved to LA to pursue music.

And now, I'm here at "The Voice"...

One of my goals with "The Voice"
is to show my kids, to show my family,

that dreams do come true if you
put your head down, put the work in.

I'm Rob Cole. I'm 32 years old.

And I'm from Pembroke, North Carolina.

Music's been a part of my life
from birth to now.

It's been woven in my story.

My dad played guitar.

My mom, she was a singer.

Around the same time that I was born,
they opened up a music store.

As a 4-year-old kid, my dad taught me
to unpack the new drums that would come in

and put them together.

I remember different-color guitar picks.

They were my little action figures.

You know the phrase "kid in a candy shop"?
I was the kid in the music store. [laughs]

Nobody knew I could sing up until about
a week before I graduated high school.

I recorded myself singing a song
and posted it on a YouTube channel.

That's when the singing journey started.

I just knew from then on, like,
this is what I want to do with my life.

Currently, I do a lot of shows
in North Myrtle Beach,

different spots in North Carolina.

And my biggest inspiration's
always been my dad. [sighs]

My father passed away in 2017.

So a big part of why I'm doing
this is to continue his legacy.

To be here representing
the last name that he gave me, Cole,

is huge for me.

I don't have to feel like
or ask if I'm making him proud.

I know I am.

I just feel it within me.

[sighs]

[Mafe] I was born and raised in Venezuela.

Growing up over there is beautiful.

Food is a big thing.

Christmas, we make hallacas,
which is a Venezuelan traditional dish.

Also, we would
go to the beach all the time.

It was so fun.

I come from a very musical family.

When I was four, I joined the choir.

We traveled around the country.

Also, I would sing the national anthem
at, like, any event that I could.

When I was 15, things started
to get bad in Venezuela.

It was dangerous.
You can get robbed. You can get kidnapped.

So my dad made the decision
to move to the US.

We moved to Miami, and we have
to start from scratch, zero.

[in Spanish]

[Mafe, in English] It was overwhelming

because I'm going to school
where I don't know or understand anything.

But I joined the choir, and music
was something that definitely helped.

I would go to any other class,
and I would be lost.

But when I got to choir, I would be like,
"Okay, cool, I am meant to be here."

And now, this is a huge moment for me.

"The Voice" has always been the dream.

For my blind audition,
I'm going to be performing "Bésame Mucho."

This song talks about kissing someone
as if it was your last time seeing them.

And that's my story, too.

Saying goodbye to our family, friends.

And kissing them
as if there was no tomorrow

'cause you didn't really know
when you would see them again.
